Chapter 4: The End?

~Inu Yasha~

The snow was blinding to his eyes as the Hanyou continued his journey in the extreme weather.

This is beyond comprehension. A nightmare. He never felt so cold in his entire life. Worse, Kagome is hurt and she's lost quite a lot of blood, and in this kind of condition, it'll be a miracle if they get out alive.

- Don't be so pessimistic, that's what she would say. So he's going try to be optimistic.

But hey c'mon, he was in the middle of nowhere, with the person he cared about badly injured, freezing in the snow and bored to death.

He held Kagome close to him, giving all the warmth he could provide for her.

Senses have left his frosty fingers and feet. They were numb and could not move. Yet he gritted his teeth and managed to fight off the urge to stop, for he knows, once he stops, he'll never want to keep going again.

It was time like this when he wished that someone were here with him. Though Kagome's presence had calmed him greatly. He wished Miroku was here. Sango, Shippo, Kilala. Even that annoying good-for-nothing old scaredy-flea Mioga would be good.

The life of kagome depends on him. He could only prayed silently to God that he'll soon find a shelter and be safe…

By nightfall, Inu Yasha was pretty much drained of energy and hope. But he continued walking in desperation, still hoping that they might find someone, or something that could help them.

His strength was vastly evaporated as the evening blaze cut into his body, leaving deep burning, and invisible scars.

Without realizing, he came across a steep downhill. The instance he stepped onto the edge, the bank gave away. He swayed down the rough, trying the protect Kagome from harm at the same time.

After collide with countless ice-rocks, he finally skid to a very painful stop when his arms crashed against a particular sharp edge of a rock.

He could hardly get up with the newly added layer of snow on him. His arms were plastered with dried and frozen blood from the "thrill ride". His newly opened wounds charged him with agonizing sting.

Clenching his teeth he managed to stand on his frostbitten feet, picking up the still unconscious Kagome and the bag, began walking.

He didn't make it very far before he dropped down in sudden weakness. This time he knew he would not be able to get up again. This was too much, even for a demon. He can't believe this world of nothing except snow is going to be his resting place.

He hugged Kagome to keep her as warm as possible.

I'm sorry, Kagome, I tried my best. Naraku got what he wanted after all. God, after I die, take care of Kagome. Bring her back safely. This is all I ask for
