Abigail stepped out of her Empala and onto the stone pathway leading from the driveway to the two story home in front of her. No sooner had she stepped onto the porch than did two foxes and come tumbling out from under the tangle of grapevines to charge her feet. Squealing she grasped her briefcase and backed up, knocking over a potted plant sitting on the wooden railing. With a startled gasp she turned to catch it.
The plant fell comfortably into two strong hands. Long clawed fingers encircled the clay pot gently setting the fern back atop the porch, away from the tussling two kits. Hair the color of hot iron fell around his shoulders, his emerald eyes shone with humor as he scooped up the two small foxes.
“Please, come in.” He said with a gentle smile, shouldering open the door, trying to keep the battling kits as far apart as possible. “SOTEN!” He shouted and Abigail could only stand stupidly in the doorway.
“What is it you old fox?” came a humorous voice from somewhere inside the home.
“We have company.” The man said a little lower.
“Well, I was wondering when she was going to show up.” A tall elegant woman with long hair black as the volcanic smoke came out slapping the dull edge of a large knife in her hand. “Humph, some nerve making us wait. You just took your time in deciding now didn't you?” She waved the knife at Abigail, “I'll have you know my Shippo has hundreds of requests for interviews every day! He could just as easily tell anyone else what he's going to tell you, what do you think of that, eh? Maybe you'll think twice about making him wait next time!”
“Souten, maybe you should put the knife down hm?” The man, Shippo told Souten. He gently took the knife, replacing it with the restless fox kits. With a soft sigh and a smile the woman headed into another room.
“Well don't just stand there gawking, come on! We don't have eternity you know!”
“Shall we?” Shippo asked with a smile, extending an arm in the direction the woman left.
Abigail wondered just what kind of crazy home she just walked into.

“I'm afraid I don't quite understand…” Abigail began, picking up her cup of coffee she sat rigidly on the edge of the sofa.
“We've known for some time you would be coming, I must say you did take a bit longer than I thought but it's no real inconvenience.” Shippo sat opposite her holding a small auburn-haired girl in his lap. The girl's large green eyes stared excitedly at her as Shippo ran a brush through her long hair. Souten had placed the two kits in a small playpen and they presumed tackling each other.
Souten sat next to her, her deep brown eyes no longer reflecting her irritation but rather a calm expectancy, like Abigail was supposed to say something.
“How did you know?” Apparently that was what Soten was waiting for. She sprang up and pointed right at her.
“Your grandmother foretold that you would be the one to tell the world of Inuyasha.” She said with a smile.
“My grandmother…I don't understand.” She looked at Shippo. “You were the one who told everyone about your journeys.”
“No, I just said what everyone else was saying, albeit a bit more truthfully that a few hand-me-down bedtimes stories but it was still a slightly common tale.”
“You are supposed to be the one who says what's really happening. You're supposed to write about what other people don't know, you're supposed to tell them about Inuyasha's RECENT accomplishments!”
“Wait-wha…RECENT ACOMPLISHMENTS?! She almost shouted and the small child in Shippo's lap giggled.
“Yes,” Shippo said calmly. “Naraku was only one of our many enemies. There were more, you can't just become a famous demon, half or no, and expect things to just calm down. There were many other battles, many other enemies, and then there are Inuyasha's inner battles as well. I told my side of the story, but there are so many different views. You don't write about a war and leave it be, no there are other people involved, and I think its time we all got Inuyasha's side.” He turned and winked at Soten. “Don't you think?”
“Well yes but…I don't understand. Inuyasha lived almost a millennia ago, how am I supposed to get his side of the story?!”
“You could ask him?” Soten said curtly. Abigail just stared at her, mouth agape, unable to speak. “Now we don't know where he is exactly…buuut I believe Sesshoumaru might.”
“Sesshoumaru?” Abigail still couldn't get past the fact that Inuyasha was still around.
“You know, Inuyasha's older broth-”
“Half.” Shippo interrupted her.
“HALF brother,” Soten glared at him. “He always keeps tabs on Inuyasha…at least…he used to.”
“O-okay…” Abigail replied softly.
It was only when she was back in her car driving to the office that she realized she actually met THE Shippo and Soten from the Inuyasha stories, and that she was going to meet THE Inuyasha…if he was still around. She pulled over to the side of the road, feeling just a bit faint and wondering just what the hell happened back at that house.
