Forever

`I need you.' She cried, staring out the window of her small cold apartment room. Staring outside into nothingness, watching the rainfall. `I need you so bad right now, Inuyasha.'
It had been exactly six whole years… since…
The fight. The fight with Naraku that would end this mess. It was finally over too. But Naraku wouldn't go, not without taking her beloved Inuyasha with him.

Kagome ran to Inuyasha. He was sprawled out on the ground covered in his and Naraku's blood. But Kagome didn't care. She was on top of him and hugging him and burying her face into his chest and crying.
Crying. For him; a lowlife, dirty, useless, weak, pathetic mutt. A hanyou. Inuyasha.
Inuyasha's breathing became deeper and ragged until he was struggling to take in more air, to hold on to that last breath. For Kagome. His Kagome.
He lifted her face up with two of his fingers under her chin so she was looking him straight in the eyes. His rough, loving, amazingly gorges gold eyes and her soft, kind, warm brown ones.
At the moment her eyes looked red and puffy and under his gentle touch her skin was cold and clammy. But to him she was the most beautiful creature in the world. She was a goddess! His goddess! Never ceasing to amaze him with her stunning beauty.
Inuyasha kissed away her tears and smiled at her. A soft, sweet smile, full of love and only meant for her to see. He took in his last breath, and breathed his last words,
"I will always love you…"
"FOREVER."

Everything had begun to fade after that. All of the Feudal Era was slowly fading away. Sango, Miroku, Shippo, Kirara, and even Miyoga and Keade were there watching this sad but loving scene from the side lines.
While Kagome had been blinking back the tears it all disappeared. When she opened her eyes she found herself at the bottom of the bone eaters well in modern time, with the full Shikon jewel around her neck and tears still streaming down her face.
She had stayed in her room and just cried for a countless number of days. No one in the household had said anything about Inuyasha or the Feudal Era after that. And nothing was ever quite the same either. Kagome's mother and grandfather and her little brother Souta knew what happened. And after that, the house was quiet and no one was ever happy anymore. Kagome couldn't be happy, and that affected the rest of her family as well.
Kagome passed all of her school exams with flying colors. She was the top student at her schools from that day on. Always making straight A's and she never missed a day from school again except for twice a year. The day she met Inuyasha, and the day he left. Those days she mourned.
She told Hojo not to bother her anymore after that. And her friends became strangers to her. She shut herself off from the world afraid of being hurt, though no one could ever take her Inuyasha's place. And she wouldn't let anyone try to either.
Kagome walked through her dark apartment. Staring off into the distance for a few minutes. Not minding to wipe away the occasional tear that would slide down her cheek every now and then. These days of mourning she would just stay at home and think about him. The Feudal Era and her other friends as well. But mostly Inuyasha. She didn't care to wipe her tears. She would fall asleep crying for him. She let her emotions run freely.
Though she had top grades in school and she seemed to be so smart, she had been sent to many doctors. They thought she was insane. They thought she was insane because she had been seeing hallucinations. She would not tell the doctors of the past and of Inuyasha. She would not tell the doctors that her hallucinations were of her love, Inuyasha.
Kagome dropped her cup of coffee she had been sipping on. It shattered into tiny pieces on the hard wood floor, hot coffee splashing everywhere. She shut her eyes tight and ran. She had flipped. She had totally lost it. Well, that's what the doctors would think. But she was quit all right.
Kagome snatched a bottle of vodka from the kitchen and drank down half a bottle of aspirin. She leaned up against the cold tile on the bathroom walls. The house was freezing but she felt like she was burning up. Kagome took in deep even breaths trying to calm herself down. She thought for a moment and rummaged around in the bathroom cabinets for a bit until she found exactly what she was looking for. A razor blade.
Kagome ran out of the apartment building into the freezing, pouring rain. She ran. Ran for her life and Inuyasha's. She wanted to be with him. Her heart hurt her so bad. She ran as fast as she could. She couldn't figure out where she was going. She was running blind as a bat. But then something told her to stop.
She stood in the rain looking out at a field. Nothing but grass for a long ways and then some trees that went into the forest. This was the battlefield. Where Inuyasha had died. Where Inuyasha had confessed his love for her and died. Kagome heard the voices of her friends calling her. She began to get dizzy and she closed her eyes and slit her wrists with the razor. She began to run again and she dropped the razor.
And for the first time in six years. She smiled.
She stopped in the middle of the field in front of a male figure. She knew this man. Bright gold eyes, lean muscular body, long silver hair and little triangular doggy ears atop of his head. Tears welled up in her eyes but she smiled ad the man with the golden eyes and silver hair put his hand to her cheek and brushed away her tears with his thumb. He had wings.
"Inuyasha…"
Kagome sniffled and leaned in closer to the warmth of his hand. She was never hallucinating. She was in love. Her spirit was connected to Inuyasha's, nothing could keep them away from each other. Nothing ever would. And now they were together again. Together at last.
Right before Naraku had finished him off he had said that he would drag Inuyasha to hell with him. To hell with Naraku and Kikyo. But Kagome never believed he had gone to hell. She believed with all her heart that this hanyou, the love of her life, had gone to heaven and become an angel. She was right. And now she would become and angel with him…
Kagome's vision became fuzzy and it was getting harder and harder for her to breath. She had chased half a bottle of aspirin with a bottle of vodka and slit her wrists. She was loosing a lot of blood now.
Inuyasha smiled warmly down at her and leaned in. Their lips brushed up against each other with a warm, loving first kiss. And when they parted Kagome closed her eyes, and she took in her last breath, and she breathed her last words,
"I will always love you…"
"FOREVER."
