Chapter One Clouded Memories

A six year old Kagome Higurashi laughed happily as she swung on the swing set next to her best friend. They were at the park, playing after school as they always did, and it was nearing their dinner times.
"Kagome..." The boy spoke softly as he halted his swinging and toyed with the pea gravel that filled the playground.
The young girl looked over to him, but saw only his silhouette as the sun was setting behind him, the dying rays giving off the last bit of brilliant light before sinking behind the horizon.
She smiled to him and tilted her head to the side as she too stopped swinging.
"We will always be friends right, Kagome?" He asked her. She smiled and nodded to him.
"Forever!" With her response she could make out his own smile, and a hint of a small fang peeking out of his mouth.
"One day, we will be all grown up, and then we will get married!" She shouted happily to the empty playground. The boy beside her giggled and got to his feet. Kagome watched him as he stood in front of her and drew her in a tight embrace.
"Wha...." He started to speak before she could question his actions.
"Mommy and Daddy told me, they said that we were moving to America. They said that they didn't want to tell me until the day before, because....because they didn't want me to be sad about leaving my friends behind." Kagome had by now wrapped her small arms around her best friend to return his hug.
"Mommy said that the two of them wanted my last few days here to be normal and happy, and not sad about leaving. I...I don't want to leave." The two sat there in silence, then Kagome spoke up.
"You won't be gone forever, because when your a grown up, you can do whatever you want without your mommy and daddy's permission. You can come back to Tokyo, and we will get married and have babies and get a million puppies and kittens and horsies... and a unicorn! I always wanted a unicorn." The young boy smiled at Kagome's imagination, even he knew that there was no such things as unicorns, demons, but not unicorns. He buried his face into the place where her neck meets her shoulder and mumbled something, before biting her neck.
Kagome squeaked in surprise, more so on the fact that he bit her, but it didn't hurt. Her best friend pulled away from her, she could make out the blush that marred his face as he go to his feet and helped her up.
"I will come back when I am all grown up, and we will get married." She flashed him a girly smile and hugged him once more before the two parted ways.
"Don't forget me Kag-chan!"

The steady BEEP!BEEP!-ing of her alarm clock woke the eighteen year old girl from her somewhat relaxing slumber. Grumbling, she hit the snooze button and rolled onto her other side, in hopes of getting another five minutes of sleep. Her attempt failed as she found herself now wide eyed and ready to start another day of high school.
Kagome Higurashi attended Rumikashi High, this was her final year in high school and she couldn't wait to get out. She had waist length indigo hair that had a natural wave to it, making it shine in the right places in the light. Her sapphire eyes were surrounded by thick lashes and her short bangs. Kagome's petite frame was accented by her long legs and delicate feet and hands.
She studied herself in the mirror after getting out of the shower. Quickly drying it and letting it hang loose today, Kagome chose to wear a brightly patterned skirt over top a pair of dark jeans and a plain white spaghetti strap top. Running her fingers through her hair once more, and examining the scar on her neck that looked like a vampire bite, she then left the bathroom and headed downstairs to grab a piece of toast.
"Mmumph mumph mmmmmmma!" She mumbled to her mother with the toast in her mouth. Her mother smiled and waved to her as she headed out the door.
"Have a good day at school dear."
---------------------------------------
"Did you hear Kagome-chan?" A brown eyed girl with long chestnut hair asked excitedly.
"Hear what Sango-chan?" Kagome rolled her eyes at her friend's excitement. She knew why she was excited, she just didn't find it exciting like the rest of the girls in Rumikashi High.
"Inuyasha Kakera has been enrolled in our school! In our school!" Sango jumped around Kagome's row of lockers giddily.
Kagome snorted. "He isn't that exciting. He is just another person like you or me. The only difference is that there is like a million more people know of him than they do you or I." She stated matter-o-factly.
"We'll see Kagome-chan. Well best get off to class! See you at lunch!" Sango trotted of happily waving, leaving Kagome to walk to her own class, European History.
Upon walking in, or attempting to get in past the gaggle of girls that were crowded around, Kagome set her bag beside her desk and sat down in her seat, not noticing the amber orbs that followed her.
The girls who were not even in her class were annoying the hell out of her, and she could feel a headache coming on. Rubbing her temples with her middle and index fingers, she felt a sudden wave of relaxation course through her, starting at her neck. Rubbing her scar as the bell ring, she watched as the girls all left the class, then heard the scraping of the chair beside her.
"Yo! This seat taken?" She turned her head to her side, only to be pinned down by an intense golden gaze.
"I'm Inuyasha Kakera." He smiled flashing his fangs as he held out his hand in greeting. Kagome accepted it with a smile. "Kagome. Kagome Higuashi."
