.:Prologos:.
During the Sengoku Jidai, Naraku had finally been defeated, with everyone a little beat up, but alive. However, the nearly completed Shikon jewel embedded in his body had been shattered once again when he was destroyed. This resulted in several complications...
One of the most influencial was Kikyo had decided against resting in peace, even though Naraku was gone. No one knew exactly why, but they figured she wanted to stay until the Jewel was complete again and to ensure it's vanishing from existance.
Also, Kagome didnt have to return to her time for good just yet. She knew when the Jewel was completed, she would have to choose one era over the other. The Jewel shattering once again postponed the need for this decision.
With Naraku dead, the Wind Tunnel in Miroku's hand had closed up. Kohaku was still alive, the jewel shard in his back still uncollected. The boy returned with Sango, and she and Miroku were starting their lives over with one another.
InuYasha was still determined to find all of the Jewel shards, but had forgotten his desire to become a full youkai. He hadnt even realized it, but he knew that over time he came to know power couldnt make him truly happy.

.:Chapter 1:.

hurt

The girl twisted and turned in her sleep, the comfortable sheets of her time not helping in the least. She was plagued by nightmares, as she had been for the past four nights. They were all different, but they all had one thing in common; the ending. This one was the worst in the recent series...
This time, it happened in her arms.

InuYasha fell cold to the touch. He found it difficult to move and it was difficult for him to breathe. Why... does this... have to happen? Like this..., he thought desperately. His eyes opened into thin red slits, sapphire irises peaking through. He cried out in pain, and he tried to make out the blurry image in front of him.
His gaze picked up a dull outline of a raven-haired girl, her own chestnut orbs capturing him in a storm of concern; they were hazy through his fogged vision. He could die like this, he knew it. He would be right here, in the arms of the angel who helped him see that he could love again.
He felt her hand tighten on hers, and his ears picked up on her voice through the wind.
"InuYasha... shh, it's ok... you can rest now... it's alright..."
He tried to grin weakly, to show his gratitude. But he winced as his body transformed again. His eyes opened to reveal the amber orbs she had always loved to see... just not in so much pain.
Snow fell, but he no longer felt it. All he felt as he faded was the warmth of her hand on his own and the comfort of her arms beneath him.
She hugged her hanyou closer as he closed his eyes and his world slipped away to a painless black.

.:Previously:.

Kagome ran as fast as she could. crystalline tears falling from her eyes. She wanted to get to the well before he did... but there was little chance of that...
The snow fell lightly, it being mid-December and everything... If she hadn't seen his red figure bolting towards the well a few yards to her left, she admitted to herself that she probably would have gotten lost in the white nothingness.
She dreaded reaching the well, but ran forward anyway.
He was there when she got there, positioned on the edge of the well in his usual sulking stance.
"Kagome...", he tried to start, getting up from the edge.
She looked down, indicating that she was paying attention, but not looking forward to hearing to what he had to say. He sighed and began to walk towards her, but she angled herself away from him... and towards the well...
"Kagome... I don't know what you saw... but we didn't do or say anything to try to put you in an uncomfortable position... Actually, you might be glad to hear..."
"Shut up!!", she cut him off. "What would I be glad about? You ran off with her... again!! Why do you... Do you not see that everyone is ready to move on, except for you?"
"That's what I'm trying to say!", he shouted, getting angry. "Dammit, just let me say this!"
Kagome continued to make slight movements towards the well, and he caught on.
"You better not even dare!", he snarled, moving closer to her.
"I'm tired of waiting for you to choose!", she yelled in response. "And I hate you for it!!"
She climbed up the edge of the well, getting ready to jump in.
"I don't want to come back!! Maybe catch on this time and dont come after me, stupid half-breed!", she cried, her frustration not letting her think through what she said.
With a gasp she realized what she had said, but she jumped, and expected to fall through, but didn't. She felt his hand around her wrist; he had moved quickly to catch her.
While startled, she was still angry. "Let go of me!"
He didn't let go, but he didn't pull her up either. He didn't even look directly down the well towards her.
"That's... that's exactly what Kikyo said..." he told her quietly, his voice almost lost in the wind as the snow picked up. "... she left, Kagome... That's all I had to say..."
And he let go.

I hope for some reviews. Please?
