InuYasha Fan Fiction ❯ Forgotten Memories ❯ Introduction - An Empty Field ( Chapter 1 )

[ A - All Readers ]

When she regained consciousness she woke to the smell of field flowers, and the sound of a gurgling stream. She opened her eyes and slowly sat up. Warm sunbeams warmed her seemingly numb soul, and the sound of songbirds greeted her ears. She sat up and peered around. There was no one in site, and only the sounds of nature filled her ears. As she rose to her feet to get a better view of her surroundings she immediately noticed she was on the edge of a dark forest. As she studied the forest it seemed to pull her near. She leaned forward to get a look and quickly caught herself before she fell. As she rose back to her feet she turned around to get a better view of what was ahead. The field she was standing in was quite the contrast to the creepy dark forest. As she lifted her head up to the sky, the wind caught her long ebony hair and played with it, tossing it about in the air. An endless field was in front of her, a cool river to her side, and nothing but the forest behind her.

Where was she? She didn't remember coming here, and she certainly didn't remember lying down to take a nap. She lazily eyed the stream next to her and peered over the tall grass to see the edge of the water. She could see several brightly colored fish swimming upstream. “How beautiful” she admired to herself. She took a brief moment to herself to take note of how beautiful the scenery was that surrounded her. She would have defiantly remembered coming to a place like this? Wouldn't she? She quickly glanced around to claim her belongings but found none. All she had on where the clothes she was adorned, brown casual shoes, high baggy socks, a short green skirt, and a green and white t-shirt. Everything around her was relaxing yes indeed, but wearing these clothes seemed more relaxing than all. She felt like they defiantly defined her in some way or other. They felt important while wearing them but couldn't remember why.

When had she put these clothes on? This mourning before she fell asleep? When did she fall asleep she couldn't remember….

“Hello?” She called out too see if anyone, or anything was around to hear her talking. The wind seemingly pulled her voice off to the woods only to have it echo among the various trees settled there.

“Hello?” She called out again, only to hear nothing. As she shielded her eyes to the bright rays of the sun she called out again, but still no one answered. Puzzled she brought herself back to her thoughts. Where was she? She didn't remember who came with her here. Did someone come with her here…? She couldn't remember. By the look of the sun's placement in the sky it was high noon. So it must have been mourning when she arrived at the field. But why had she been sleeping? She carefully looked around again, this time looking for any clue as to how she got here. She approached the stream even closer and was drawn in once again by the fish swimming in its concealing depths. How did she get here? How come she couldn't remember? But none of that mattered, no matter how she got here she needed to get home. As she came to that realization, that's when she froze. For you see, she couldn't exactly remember where “Home” was.
