InuYasha Fan Fiction ❯ Forgotten Memories ❯ Chapter Three - Where are you? ( Chapter 3 )

[ A - All Readers ]

“KAGOME!” Inuyasha screamed as he jumped upon another branch. “KAGOME!!!!!” He called out again.

He couldn't pick up on her scent at all. All these hours of searching had tired him down, and drained his senses but he refused to give up. He didn't need his strength. The only thing he needed right now was gone and he needed too find her.

He frantically jumped to another tree branch and sniffed the air once again. No scent of her. Or was there? He couldn't tell anymore! Everything smelt like her, every sound, every snap of a twig on the forest floor he wished was her. He would give anything to see her right now. Hear her voice, her laugh. Even to catch a glimpse of her. How could he be so stupid?

From up above he could hear Sango patrolling the ahead searching desperately for her as well. But it was no use. Hope was dwindling. He needed to find her. Cries from below erupted as he heard Shippou, call out from the brink of tears for his adoptive mother.

A low growl erupted deep from within his chest. How could he not have been there for her? It was his entire fault for letting her slip by. He kept replaying the scene over and over through his head, in hopes of remembering just a slight detail that might give them a lead too her location.

“Dammit!” he scowled as he punched the limb from beneath him, barely scratching his fists. How the hell could something like this happen?

He heard Kirara from above roaring out for Kagome and the sound mingled with Sango's voice. Miroku was off in the distance but he could hear him as well, calling out for Kagome. Everyone needed her, especially him. But where could she have gone?

As he heard Miroku approaching he jumped off of his branch and crossed his arms. “I have had no luck, I imagine you have had the same luck as well?” Miroku inquired with that stupid “You don't need to answer look”

“Feh!” Inuyasha retorted and jumped back up in the tree. “KAGOME!!” He growled once again.

Miroku knew that searching this late into the night was not going to do them any good. They needed to rest, and rebuild their strength, so than they could rise in the early mourning and perhaps find a new lead. But than he discouraged the own thought because he already knew that wasn't going to happen. With Kagome gone, the group fell apart. He was Shippou's adoptive mother. Shippou would be too upset too sleep tonight. Kagome was one of Sango's only friends. As far as Sango was concerned, Kagome was like a little sister to her. As for Inuyasha… Well he knew for a fact he wouldn't sleep. He was too stubborn and he blamed himself for Kagome's kidnapping. He was there a moment before it happened while they were arguing. He could see how he could blame himself but didn't find it necessary. Even he needed Kagome. She had a pure soul; there was no other way to explain her. She was always so cheerful, quick to help others and aid even strangers. She came from the future and brought supplies from there as well, without those supplies he doubted they would have ever got so far. He thought to himself about the time he sucked Naraku's poisonous insects in his wind tunnel. Without the antidote Kagome provided, he would have surely died. “Kagome where are you?” Miroku whispered as he glanced up toward the moon.

Sango searched desperately. She could feel Kirara beneath her getting restless, as if on edge about something. She could feel it too. Things just weren't right without Kagome around. And with Kagome carrying around the sacred jewel shards she was a sitting duck! Any demon would kill for the slight chance of possessing even one shard of the sacred jewel, and she knew it. She had seen it happen, not even too demons, but to men as well. The sacred jewel as a source of great evil, great evil, that Kagome had control over.

“Kagome!” Sango called out once again. She knew she wasn't going to get an answer, but the sheer hope of it kept willing her to call out even more. She felt like she was going to break down at any moment. Why had fate have to be so cruel to her. First, her family, her only family in the world was slain in front of her. She returned to her home to find it in ruins. Than, her own brother, was being used as a living, breathing puppet against her. And now, one of her best friends was torn away from her, and there was nothing she could do about it.

“Kagome!” She screamed out again, muffled with sobs. “Where are you?”
