InuYasha Fan Fiction ❯ Forgotten Memories ❯ 2 ( Chapter 2 )

The creature came for Kagome in the sluggish haze of her sleep, a formless creation of her dreams that rose up hauntingly out of the depth of her subconscious. It was a thing of terror, a thing that lurked in the dark recesses of her mind where she hid her deepest fears. It came for her with stealth and cunning, slipping easily past the obstacles with which she sought to block it, its motion fluid and quick as it pressed in about her. She could not see it as it came; she never would. It lacked substance or identity; it lacked reason. There was only the overwhelming sense of terror it created by its being. She ran from it, of course - ran swiftly through the landscapes of her imagination, ran and ran until it seemed she must surely have left it behind. But she had not. It was there at once, closing swiftly, surely. She lunged from it in desperation, screamingly soundlessly for help, anyone's help. But there was no one. She was alone with this thing and she could not escape it. Yet she must, for if it were to reach her, if it were to touch her, she knew with certainty that she would die. So she ran in fear, blindly, feeling the breathe of the thing hot upon her neck...
She came awake with a start, lurching upward from beneath the blankets to a sitting position. The night air was cold on her face and body. Sweat ran from beneath her arms, and from within her head she could hear the blood thundering through her veins, as her heart pounding wildly. She looked around and saw Sango and Miroku wide awake as well. They quickly ran out the door of their room and found Inuyasha. He was running into the building to wake them. The thing was in the village, they had beaten it here so they must protect the village and get their vengeance. They got ready to fight a creature that they knew nothing about, nor how to fight it, much less beat it. They moved cautiously out of the Inn and down to where it was entering the village from the pass.

Shippo was busily working on his garden when he suddenly thought about Kagome. He hadn't thought of her this way since she had left and up until about 13 months ago. It was strange, he had accepted that she may not come back and he had blamed Inuyasha. I think everyone blamed him. He was the cause. I know it isn't fair to think that way cause it hurt him more than anyone, but he is the one that always is to blame....
He didn't feel right for some reason. It felt as if Kagome was here and she was in trouble, but he couldn't figure out why he would think that way. Kagome would have come and seen him, right? It just didn't seem right, that's all. Maybe he should go visit Kaede just to be on the safe side. It wouldn't hurt anything if he did and if Kagome wasn't here and she wasn't in trouble it would hurt to visit everyone. He hadn't seen anyone since Sango had actually accepted Miroku as her husband. Why she did that is beyond me, she must have hit herself with her poison gas or something. I don't see why she did that since he is just a lecher and might run off and, oh never mind. If he does that than she will keep him in check. I think he's more scared of Sango than anything else.
No matter, he would go and check it out; he needed a vacation from his house. It was too quiet here, he needed to see someone other than himself. It was quite boring now that he thought about it. Anyway it's just an excuse to get him to go and see them.
It really wasn't that far, just four villages away.
He got packed and headed toward the village to see Kaede.

The Dagda Mor slipped through the village entrance with ease. No one had been there to stop him, no one would have been aware and it would be their undoing. He didn't see the four shadows moving toward him. He was caught up with the thought of tonights slaughter. He was starving, he loved the taste of human flesh. He needed to find all the people that had the magic to lock him up again and kill them. Once they were gone there would be nothing to stop him. In that place, that limbo there was no time that paced. He could not die there and his evil had festered, grown stronger, multiplied. The evil thrived from being left to itself, For evil contained is not evil destroyed, it swells and rages until it works loose and then it runs free.
His magic had grown, fed in the same way that the evil had. Driven nearly mad with need to release his hatred of what had been done to him. All the demons were driven mad, but he had been the only one to escape. To do the dirty work before the others came out. He didn't mind, he was filling his need to wreak havoc on these pitiful creature who have grown weak. He started for the first house and was about to enter when something attacked him, knocking him over with a tremendous force. He looked about and saw the thing that had caused him damage.
There were four people standing there and the one that had attacked had this weapon made out of demon parts. He gathered the magic at his clawed fingertips and then with tremendous fury let rip the awesome power within himself and sent blue fire at his attacker. The fire engulfed her and sent her flying backwards against a tree, it also knocked down a man in a purple dress. These humans always have surprises, but a man in a dress?!? They grow more strange with each one I run into. These creatures need better fashions, They used to have loin cloths, know the men are wearing dresses! Oh never mind, let me finish them while I'm still irritated.
He went to attacked again when the silver haired human came after him. No, wait he was not quite human, he was also demon! He got irritated when he noticed he was only half. As he was thrown back and injured by his blow, he thought to himself. The humans are like leaches, they have taken everything! This crossbreeding should not be allowed, it's not right! This is an abomination! He got up and threw the black flame at this abomination. The black flame was his strongest fire magic and it causes illness as never seen in over 3 thousand years. He now knew that the faeries were no longer here so he would take it out on the humans. But there were demons here, that would be sufficient to satisfying him to a limit.
He vanished into his void when the other girl shot an arrow at him. He felt the power coming from her and knew that she was one of the ones he was searching for to destroy first. Eliminate all the obstacles, all the powerful ones that could imprison him again. He left the four strangers in that small village, that one can be taken care of later. He thought silently to himself. He went to his void and healed himself; he would be ready for the next time.
Kagome was the only one left conscience after their battle. The village tended to the others but couldn't figure out what was wrong with Inuyasha. His breathing was shallow, He had a raging temperature, and his skin had turned purple. The village healer told Kagome that Inuyasha may be dying.

Shippo walked until dark and rested under a tree. He had decided that he would rest for a bit and then head out again about midnight. It would be faster and better if he got there quick. The feeling was becoming distressing. He felt urgency in this and felt that he should make it there fast instead of camping. He got up shortly after midnight and continued toward Kaede's village.
On the way he spotted a little village that was surrounded by a valley on three sides. It was awake and busy, at this time of night it should be asleep. He felt that he should go check it out, something compelled him to go check it out. As he walked into the village entrance he was stopped by guards. What's going on?thought Shippo. Then he was escorted to an Inn and was told to wait there. Kagome stepped out a few minutes later and Shippo ran up to her and hugged her. "Kagome!!" was all he could muster. Kagome sat him down and told him what had happened. "So Inuyasha may be dying?!?" "Yes, Shippo, they don't know whats wrong and they don't know what to do to help." Kagome seemed as if she were gonna cry. She was so upset. Where do we go from here?
Shippo stood up suddenly and it surprised Kagome. He walked to the other side of the room and then turned towards her. "We can't let this thing get the advantage. You said you injured him?"
"Well he appeared injured but my arrow never struck, he simply disappeared." Kagome stated.
"Kagome we have to search everything, any writings that we can find, maybe there is something about this creature and how we can defeat it." Shippo replied flatly.
Shippo has grown so much since I last saw him. He is so mature, much more than he used to be.
"Yes Shippo, we must." Kagome whispered, her words barely audible. Her thoughts were obviously focused on Inuyasha's condition.
Shippo told her that he would go find out what he could from the village and said she should keep an eye on Inuyasha and watch his condition. Then he turned and walked out to go see what he could find out about this creature, and possibly how to destroy this it. Perhaps he could help with Inuyasha as well.
Kagome looked at Inuyasha and cried. His breathing was so shallow. It looked as if he wouldn't make it and she couldn't wake him up. He was going to pass from this world without him knowing how much she loved him.

The Dagda Mor sat silently in the void. He was healing himself, in his black oblivion. He was thinking of his course of action as to how to dispatch this girl that had power enough to destroy him in one blow. Perhaps it was because her power was gathered from souls and could purify what she touched. This scared the Dagda Mor and He did not scare very easily. She could fire her arrow at him and he would cease to exist. But why would a demon mate with a human and produce offspring? What would possess a demon to love its worst enemy? It seemed strange to him because of the world that he had come from and the humans lived in fear of the demons. It was awkward to think of such things especially since he was a demon. How had the world changed so much?
He decided to concentrate on his healing before anything else. When he was fully healed he thought of his course of action to dispatch of this girl. He wondered if he could kill her in her sleep as he had done to so many others. But she had felt his coming, he knew that now. That's how he had gotten ambushed in that valley village. He had been as unsuspecting as the people that he had killed in the last few days. He needed a plan, one that would catch her off guard and separate her from her group. He decided to shape shift into a wounded child and draw her away from the village with a distress call. She would be the only one to wake, the only one to sense it and he was sure that she would go alone thinking that a child would be harmless. He smiled his hooked smile at his plan and thought of how he could gut her or tear her apart while she was still alive and able to feel it.
