AN; okay now, here in this chapter, I'm not too sure what to write at the beginning but yeah~~ also. . .thank you `kittykathy' for you review. . . Anyway…I guess I didn't know how the words would come out on the page and all so…sorry about that…I'll try to make it better this time…^ ^

Chapter 2 - Realizations

Being already at the fortress for already nearly half a year, everything was settling down perfectly. Yumoko was very happy with all the new art of cooking. In Kagome's, Yumoko taught her the ways to defend herself, as a human, it was obviously harder to reach the so called `perfect strike' to them demons, but Yumoko has been very encouraging to her and she was very thankful for that. Yet what could she do? The timetable seems to get more and more boring each day passing. Not a week has passed and Inutaishou was called to a conference.

"Father, why would they ask us to go to a conference anyway? They are more like barbarians. Why would they want to talk peace?" Sesshoumaru asked his father during dinner. Inutaishou gave this a thought too earlier on.

"I think though we still must go, if we don't, the other Lords of lands think of us?"

And Sesshoumaru became quite. "Anyway, I will go with Inuyasha and you, Sesshoumaru, shall be in charge of the castle and shall attend to my duties while I am away."

Inutaishou has been gone for two weeks and the fortress seems to be even more quite. Sesshoumaru buried himself in his study. Kagome and Yumoko, who usually is together anyway, were painting pictures, Yumoko describing the scene and Kagome the artist.

"There is a waterfall on the left," Yumoko said, remembering the picture she once saw in her youth. Kagome sat there trying to figure out the images Yumoko was describing but it was so hard to think of the picture, she changes the descriptions too often!

"No. no…the waterfalls had kind of two jumps then the lake at the bottom…"

"Yumoko!! Can you stop changing the descriptions?! It's kind of hard you know!"

"Hehe~~ Sorry, got carried away. Anyway…"

"My Lord, a letter has arrived for you." Jaken said as he placed a scroll on Sesshoumaru's desk.

"There's that needs your attention at the moment." he said to the servant, who bowed and left, as he reached to read the letter.

Dear Lord of the Western Lands

We are still waiting for your appearance in the conference, if you will not be showing up, please notify us so we may beginning. If you cannot make it to this conference, please send a messenger so that he will be able to send you the documents on what we shall talk about.

(AN: hehe~~ the letter are sort of short aren't they……… :P)

What were they talking about?! His father and brother left two weeks ago and should have arrived in the city of Shojuki already. (Okay the city's name is made up okay? And it's the capital of the Northern Lands) His head full of confusion, did not hear Kagome come in with his tea.

"Is there some bothering you my lord." She her sweet gentle voice. At first, Sesshoumaru didn't recognise who it was, that was until he turned around to face who it was. Today, Kagome was dressed in a peach coloured kimono with the pictures of peaches on it. `Well what have we here?'

"Don't knock when you come in? Where are you manners?" he asked looking at her. Kagome, who was used to these comments, replied.

"I did, but you didn't hear me. That's all." She bent down to give him his tea and placed the cup gently on the table.

Sesshoumaru took a sip of the tea to calm him down.

"Will you please ask my mother to come to my attendance." Sesshoumaru asked her in an orderly sort on tone.

"As you wish my lord." And Kagome went to search for Yumoko.

"You wanted my audience son?" Yumoko asked as she came into study.

"You may leave now." He waved Kagome out.

"She has a name you know, and she can stay, she is part of the family." Yumoko held on to Kagome's arm.

"Fine." Sesshoumaru gave up, not wanting to waste anymore time no that matter. "Anyhow, it seems that father and Inuyasha has not arrived at Shojuki City yet."

"But-but that's impossible! They left two weeks ago! They should be there at least a week ago!" Yumoko said, unsure what was happening. Kagome thought this to be a strange occurrence.

"Can I please see the map they took to get to Shojuki?" Kagome asked. Not sure why she wanted it for, Sesshoumaru handed her the map (AN: okay…if you want to know why Sesshoumaru is not very good at think is because he is still very young. . . you know, people learn as the grow. Also Shojuki is a made up city!!!).

As she looked at the map she asked Sesshoumaru, "Did they go through the forest or around it?"

"Through it of course. How do you expect them to arrive on time?" He told her, as a matter of fact fashion.

"Well that area is route that is unavoidable to reach anywhere unless you take the one that goes around it." Kagome said.

"I think we know that."

"And do you know why most human, avoid the route that goes through the forest?" Kagome asked him.

"Is this some kind of human belief?" Sesshoumaru asked, she was getting on his nerves!

"When I came here we came around the forest. It was known as the Forest of Illusion. Even if you could tell where is East of West, you'll still have trouble get out of that place because the trees are so thick in there it usually blocks out the sun." Kagome informed them, ignoring Sesshoumaru's comment.

"Well who would be able to walk through if there was light?" Yumoko asked curiously.

"You see, it was said that the place was strong with magic, some say that the magic lightens up the forest at day but I also creates the illusions. Only very few people know their way around the forest." Kagome continued on, the problem seems to be making sense. "It was said that the place was a portal entry to the Otherworld Realm."

"But those are just myths the human belief." Sesshoumaru said boldly.

"Well, then what other reasons do you have?" Yumoko asked. Sesshoumaru looked mildly confused and very annoyed so he excused himself from the room.

The current event has got Kagome thinking. `What could have happened, really?' Kagome was mildly disturbed with the information. `But I guess I better check to see how his lord is doing.' As she walk into Sesshoumaru's study, she found him leaned over his desk.

"Sesshoumaru-sama. Are you alright?" she asked poking him ever so lightly.

"Huh. . . ?"

`Why do men like to drink a lot of sake and get drunk?' "Sesshoumaru-sama, are you faring alright?" She asked him. He looked up to her.

"What?" He looked into her eyes.

`We better get him to the bed chamber.' Kagome thought as she helped Sesshoumaru to get up. "Please Sesshoumaru, my lord. We best take you to rest."

"Whatever. . . " Sesshoumaru said, drunk. He weighted like a dead body to her. It took all her might to help drag him into the bedchamber.

When they reached the bedchamber, Kagome let go of Sesshoumaru on the bed with a thud. When Kagome got her breath back, she looked up to her husband,

`He looks so beautiful without the cold emotion on his face.' She thought to herself. `To bad that's how he is. . .' Kagome got up and went to get changed. (AN: if you want to know, they have a walk in closet where all their clothes are keep ^^ read below for more info.)

Finally, she was able to rest for the rest of the day but something suddenly, something large landed on top of her!

`It's just Sesshoumaru. . .' Kagome thought. He was mumbling something which sounded something like "Your scent smells so nice. . ." .

"What?!" Kagome was blushing at his comment but he made no response. Not sure what to do, Kagome put her arm around him and hugged him close to her and Sesshoumaru snugged closer to her in response. Kagome smiled at this.

`He's like a child.' And with that Kagome fell asleep.

Morning came and Sesshoumaru woke to find himself in an embrace with his wife, and he sleeping on her chest!

`What the?! How. . .?' his thought began but then when he looked up, he thought he saw an angel sleeping peacefully. How did her beauty escape his attention?

`Because you thought humans are weaklings.' His mind told him. But then this Kagome wasn't so weak.

`Ah! But she is a stranger to you when you married her and never thought that you would like her at all!' But the image that appeared to him was exquisite

But as he carefully got out of the huge so that Kagome won't wake up but when he was about to get of the futon when a huge headache overwhelmed him, so he went back to sleep next to Kagome.

When Kagome woke up, she was surprised that Sesshoumaru had slept next to her not on top of her anymore and she was very thankful for that. Otherwise, how would she get up without disturbing the Lord? But then she got up and changed to go to breakfast.

When she arrived in the dinning room, she found Lady Yumoko already up.

"Good morning dear." She said to Kagome.

"Good morning Yumoko, did you sleep well last night?" Kagome asked, but sort already know the answer.

"Unfortunately, the news of my beloved husband missing has been preventing me to sleep." Yumoko told her sadly.

"Don't worry, I'm Sesshoumaru will figure something out." Kagome assured her.

It's well into the afternoon when Kagome went to wake Sesshoumaru up.

"Sesshoumaru-sama, my Lord."

Sesshoumaru stirred.

`What an enchanting voice. . .' Sesshoumaru thought to himself and lifted his eye lids to see the owner of the voice, and to his surprise, it was his wife.

"My Lord, how do you feel? Better?" Kagome asked. "There, some ginger tea, it helps to get over the hangover." Sesshoumaru has a bad headache alright, but didn't show it.

`Why does she care?' "Much improved. What time is it?" He asked.

"Mid-afternoon my Lord," she told him.

"WHAT?! Why didn't you wake me up earlier?" He demanded an answer.

"I tried, but you won't wake up," Kagome informed him. "So I just tried again just now and here you are, awake."

"What of the documents? And other necessary work I need to do?" he asked, furious that she hadn't woke him up and that he had only a few hours left to work.

"Don't worry Sesshoumaru-sama, I have done all the written work for you." She told him. "You can check it over if you have any doubts. Also, I brewed you some ginger tea, it helps relief a hangover." Kagome handed him the cup of tea. He drank in quietly. This wife of his, really surprise him from time to time. Yet there was still some work left for him to attend to, so he got up quickly.

"I shall be in my study after I get changed. Get me some food." Sesshoumaru ordered. Kagome bowed and walked out of the room.

Sesshoumaru walked across the room. It was pretty large, wooden floored covered by animal fur, a huge futon at the back centre, then next to the entry of the room was a shoji screen that lead to their walk-in-closet. Sesshoumaru found his set of garment taken out already so that it saved him his precious time, looking for them.

When he reached his study, he found that Kagome had already arrive and was holding his lunch on a tray.

"Where would you like me put your food?" she asked.

"The desk will be fine." He said. Kagome did as he bid then began to walk out of the room when suddenly Sesshoumaru asked her to stay behind.

"I wish you to stay behind to work and discuss the current matters." He said boldly. Kagome nodded and stay behind.

"My Lord!!! Sesshoumaru-sama!!!" came a voice from down the corridor. Sesshoumaru and Kagome went out to investigate and found that it was Jaken.

"Sesshoumaru-sama!! It's Inuyasha-sama!!!" Jaken told them, puffing for oxygen from all that running.

"Inuyasha? What of Lord Inutaishou?" Kagome asked. What was going on?!

"He's not here with him my lady, only Inuyasha is present and he looks pretty badly wounded." Jaken informed them. Sesshoumaru turned to Kagome.

"Go and find my mother and take her to Inuyasha's room." Kagome nodded and left immediately.

Sesshoumaru found his brother in the garden, trying to walk inside the castle. "Inuyasha! What has happened?"

"Brother. . ." Inuyasha began weakly. "Father. . .he. . .he. . ."

"Don't start stuttering now, what happened to father?" Sesshoumaru demanded.

"We were taken away, but I got released and they gave me a letter to give to you." Inuyasha said.

"How did you get all those wounds?" Sesshoumaru asked him, as a youkai, their wounds should recover in the matter of seconds! He lead his brother back to his room.

"From trying to get away before they took us." Inuyasha said. "But-" his sentence was cut short at the voice of his mother ringing in his ears.

"Oh! My dear son! What has happened to you?" Yumoko asked. She could smell the blood of her son and the dirt that was in his clothes.

"My lady, let Inuyasha-sama rest first. I'll go and find a doctor." Kagome said to the Inu-family. "Luna, can you tend to Inuyasha-sama's wounds?"

"Sure my lady." Luna hurried to the kitchen to get some warm water and some more maids to help her.

(AN: For those who are curious, Luna just follows her mistress <Kagome> around the place. . .)

"Don't worry Lady Yumoko. I shall be back soon with a doctor." Kagome told her mother-in-law.

Fifteen minutes later, Kagome came back with the doctor.

"Please sir, his wounds look really bad, please do the best you can." Kagome pleaded the doctor.

"Of course." The doctor replied.

Sesshoumaru came out of the room but Yumoko insisted that she had to stay with her son. Sesshoumaru became mildly white when he started to read the letter Inuyasha had given him. Kagome noticed this and went to his side.

"Are you feeling alright?" She asked him, his look on his face has got her worried in what the letter was saying.

"Father is………abducted." Sesshoumaru said.

"'What?! May I read the letter?" Kagome asked. Sesshoumaru handed her the letter. It said that they want the rule over the Western Lands for the return of the Lord Inutaishou.

"But we can't give a kingdom to someone for the trade on one person!" Kagome protested. "And we can give up Lord Inutaishou either!"

"So what choices do you think we have left?" Sesshoumaru said calmly, looking at the floor. "Inuyasha has said that father gave words that I must not give them the leadership of the land." He looked down to his wife, the first time in his life that he wanted a human for support.

"I think we need some time to think this through first." Kagome said, giving him a hug, which Sesshoumaru returned. This surprised Kagome because she always thought that a youkai like Sesshoumaru would never wanted to be comforted by a human, but then who wouldn't in such a case?

AN: hehe~~ do you like this chapter? Anyway…sorry lar~ it's does take ages for me to type a chapter but now that I have planned half the `part 1', I think I'll be able to update another one in earlier February (that is unless I am able to type fast then earlier) ^^. Anyway, it's going to be a new school for people in NZ and that means that when the summer holiday in NZ finishes, I'm going to form5 therefore even less time to type the story XD………Damn!!! Anyway, this chapter was called Realization because it was supposed to be about that Sesshoumaru realises that his wife is much more than he thinks (this is sorta mentioned………) and he starts to fall for her, but then I didn't get to type that yet so, maybe next chapter………no, definitely next chapter………^^
