Chapter Two: Come All Ye Children…
~~
Inu no Taishou walked the morning forest in peace, his hands folded in his beautiful blue splashed white sleeves. Bubbles of water gathered around his waist and lead down to waterfalls of color down his white kimono. Around his waist was a black and silver, dual hip guard with deadly spikes and scale like impressions. He carried two swords at his sash and one larger one at his back. His wild, long white hair was up in a ponytail, his shaggy mane falling into his face despite his best efforts, brushed his dark black eyebrows. “Father. You’ve returned.” Looking up, the great demon saw his children and his mate on the path before him. It was his son who spoke, a result of a treacherous bedding. “Sesshomaru.” The boy stepped forward, his hair almost blue in its pure color, and long enough to snap softly out behind him. The kimono he wore was plain, except for the dark blue sash around his hips, where a single blade was kept. The great dog demon’s eyes lifted to the result of his second mating. She wore her hair in twin buns; soft, baby features and long limbs, bearing all of his markings. Lastly he looked at his mate, a beautiful woman with ice white hair, pale gold eyes and narrow features. She was as deadly as she was beautiful. “Inugami.” She inclined her head gracefully and looked down in acceptance to his dominance and role as Alpha Male. He stepped forward and continued past his family; they fell into step as called for. His daughter however, ran ahead of Sesshomaru and grasped her father’s legging. Inutaishou glanced down at her, then averted his gaze and placed his hand on her head. “Sesshomaru.” The boy jogged quickly to his fathers other leg and glanced up at him eagerly. “Have you practiced since I’ve been gone?” The boy’s features lifted in glee. “Of course father! However, partner’s have become scarce, as of late.” The Taiyoukia glanced at his son in mirth. “Is that so?” “Hai.” Sesshomaru agreed readily. “Miruki, have you not offered to spar with your brother?” The little girl whined pathetically and glanced up at her father with watery eyes. “Father, Sesshomaru is too mean! He always makes fun of me!” Sesshomaru blushed when his father glanced at him absently, however, the Taiyoukia turned his gaze back to his daughter. “Well then. Perhaps then you might try not and give him an excuse?” Miruki sighed and glanced to the side. Inutaishou chuckled and placed his hand back on her head. “What of your studies?” He asked both of them, they answered in a volley of statements that erupted into a childish banter. “Enough.” The great dog barked, bored with his children. The two immediately fell back a step and sulked. Miruki glanced back at her mother and sighed. The female merely glanced at her daughter, before raising her eyes to stare at the back of her mates head. “Inugami.” The woman obediently stepped aside her children and made her way to the front line. “Have the preparations been made for my departure.” The woman kept her eyes trained ahead of her. “My lord. You’ve just returned.” Inutaishou sighed and glared at his mate from the corner of his eye. “I have made some interesting discovery involving the humans of the Musashi territory. As it were, they are sending envoy’s to the West. It would appear they have a problem and wish to discuss it with the Taiyoukia of Japan.” Inugami glanced at her mate then smirked. “It must be bad then.” Inutaishou folded his hands in his sleeves. “Correct. I am lead to believe that it is Continental Demon’s.” Inugami’s eyes widened. “Continental?” “Aa. I’ve already encountered some on the Western Coast.”
“Are they arriving my air or sea?” Inugami asked softly, folding her own hands in her sleeves. Inutaishou closed his eyes. “I did not see their arrival.” Inugami nodded. “You think the humans are being terrorized. So you will protect them?” Inutaishou glanced at his mate and met her hateful glare. “Why are you so obsessed with them?” “I am not obsessed.” Inugami snorted. Inutaishou suddenly growled and the female lowered her head in submission. The rest of the journey was made in silence.
Upon arrival to the castle, the family split; the children heading in different directions with the adult heading straight to the library. “If you insist on being secretive, then at least give me a single honest answer; just one.” Inugami barked the moment they were within the only place in the castle that radiated with the natural flow of both his and her demonic energy. It was their source, the foundation of their Symbolic relationship. Within these walls, anything and everything within their power, could and would be done without needing to be said aloud. Inutaishou poured himself a cup of sake in a beautiful red and black saucer. He drank it thoroughly before replacing it and turning to his mate, who was glaring at him with unbridled anger. “What is it?” “Do you love me?” Inutaishou blinked, a stab of pain suddenly bolting through his chest. He refrained from action or expression, but inside he winced in pain. This was her pain. “Inugami-?” “No! Answer me now! I will know if you are lying…” Her chin dropped, but her eyes darkened. Inutaishou did not bat an eye under the flames of her fury and rage. Instead he closed his eyes. He sought their bond, he saw her across from him, out of reach. Her soul a mere breath from his, but not a single part of them touched. He reached out and grasped her hand.
Inugami gasped as he suddenly stood before her, his fingers lightly intertwining with her own. Almost discreetly, as to not arouse suspicion from eyes that could not see. “Inutaishou?” “You would throw my loyalty and trust into question.” He observed, his eyes searching her as if seeing her for the first time. Though his body language was harsh and unforgiving, his touch and soul were at odds with it.
In her minds eyes, he was slowly embracing her again, pulling her into his arms and the safety of their bond. “I do not question your loyalty, nor your trust. I question your love, and your faith. I question my own as well, such is the reason I snapped. For that… I am sorry.” His eyes froze on hers the moment she began to speak, as she finished, he smiled at her fondly and lifted his other hand to her chin. “I chose you to mate, Inugami. Never question that, for I do not make a decision without full thought and heart. Understand?” She smiled up at him, lifting her hands to his forearms. “Inutaishou. For a moment, you had me worried.” He chuckled suddenly, letting his hand drop from her face to her waist, while lifting their entwined hands to shoulder height. “Ah, well you see, I can understand how you might have had that impression. We have been gone from the Mountain too long, I think, Inugami.” Her eyes flashed in bloodlust and desire, her claws lengthening as she pressed herself against him. “Aa… It has been too long.” She purred, her eyes glowing soft blue. Inutaishou’s eyes bled scarlet as they grinned in carnal delight.

He stepped into the dojo with a sigh. Once again he would be training alone. He pulled his sword from his side in a graceful slide, his eyes closing with the elating feeling that filled his soul as his aura and the blade sang in unison. For a moment, he lazily swung his sword in a brilliant, graceful dance that was slow, but precise with no room for error. His torso lurched, his hips twisted and his arms snapped softly. His kimono whooshed and slapped softly with his jarring, fluid motions as he made his way to the center of the dojo. He felt her presence the moment she entered but he ignored her; continuing his dance across the dojo floor, his movements picking up speed until soon he was whirling with demonic speed, his blade swipes blurring in silver streaks, his blade and movements filling the dojo with the beat of his song.
When it ended, he was motionless, completely still with his blade tucked under his arm. With a flash of movement and a single ring of steel, the blade was sheathed and Sesshomaru had turned to greet his guest. It was a woman, with flaming red hair that fell in untamable locks down her back. She wore a blood red dress that clung tightly to her form until her hips, where the material hung limply, slit to mid thigh on each side. She had blood red claws that were constantly in motion, either scratching herself softly, her flipping a large red coil between her knuckles. Her blood red eyes swirled with blood as her slit pupils locked onto his. “Sesshomaru-sama.” She greeted with a bow, her lips twitching in enigmatic mirth. The prince narrowed his eyes in speculation, his clawed hand resting regally on the butt of his hilt. “What do you want, Urikumo?” The spider youkia snickered softly as she lifted her clawed hand, already playing with a large red coin. “I see you’ve no partner. Yet you would train alone? How do you gain experience?” He bared his fangs at her silently, before turning away from her. “Leave. Your smell displeases me.” The spider youkia purred softly as she licked blood red fangs with a black tongue. “That’s too bad, you see, your father will be meeting me here soon. I was hoping for a warm-up. Now, young prince, fight me, or leave.” He glared at the infuriating Captain from over his shoulder. This was Urikumo, his father’s Personal Adviser and loyal Captain to his demonic army. “I do not wish to leave in such a wounded state. I would prefer a simple spar, nothing more.” Urikumo snickered softly as she stepped forward, her claws suddenly snapping closed over the red coin, which activated the youkia’s magic. The coin seemed to bleed, and like candle wax, hardened as it melted into a long red staff. She twirled it easily, playfully over her head at a demonic speed that Sesshomaru himself could not even follow. “You would dare to order me into going easy on you?” Sesshomaru bared his fangs again, turning to meet her. “I cannot win this fight.” Urikumo arched a fire red eyebrow in agreement. “At least you do not dilute yourself into thinking otherwise.” Sesshomaru’s eyes hardened, the gold of his eyes swirling into a darker color; honey gold.

Iziaoya opened her eyes with a jaw-cracking yawn. Sitting up she rubbed her eyes. The first light of morning had yet to break across the Northern Mountains, and yet she was awake. Pee…Her sleep fogged mind compelled her to rise and stagger out of the hut to find a bush to relieve her bladder.
She was turning back when a twig snapped in the distance. She blinked wearily, then reached into the back of her sash and pulled Okaa from its sheath. Stalking forward with her free hand on the butt of the hilt to keep it still and clear of anything it could twang off of. She stalked up to a large tree and peeked out from behind it only to gasp in surprise. It was Toau. She stepped out from behind the tree with a sigh of relief and opened her mouth to call out to him when suddenly he vanished. Wait… What’s that silly rounin up to? He’s been awfully secretive; asks allot of questions too. Deciding she was going to stalk her prey and see what exactly he was doing. Sheathing Okaa she crept on at a slower, yet more silent pace. She was an expert tracker, having spent most of the past year and a half alone and to the mercy of the wildlife. She caught another glance of the rounin, but this time his hair seemed to be falling out, but grew back a longer, wilder silver white. Her eyes widened. “Demon…” Her eyes hardened and snapped ahead of the youkia to see the approach of several more. Her eyes dipped back to Toau and she snarled softly. “Bastard… What’s he thinking?” Deciding to follow them, though now at a much more, slower and painstaking more silent, Iziaoya found herself gazing upon something no mortal could lay claim to for years to come. It was Howl Rock, the legendary homeland of every Inu Youkia. Fear gripped her soul as Ryo awakened suddenly and crawled out of her vest to her shoulder. “Well this is interesting. What have you gotten into this time, Iziaoya?” The girl with dark purple eyes was focused too much on her prey to listen. The family of youkia walked ahead of her by hundreds of yards, yet she kept track of Toau through the throng of demonic activity. “You need to move, Iziaoya, you’ve remained stationary long enough.” At the mouse’s casually suggestion, Iziaoya nodded in agreement, though her gaze narrowed on her target. She shifted backwards into the bushes and backtracked.
“Well not, what do we have here?” She closed her eyes as her heels came clicking down onto the path in irritance. Ryo looked behind him on her shoulder. “We’ve company. Three. Black Dogs.” Iziaoya sighed and turned around. “Oh! Look at that Kai! Its little Iziaoya!” A lanky demon with greasy black hair that hung in his face, wearing a black and blue kimono and two swords; pointed at her as he spoke. Kai was a demon with short, chopped black hair and silver blue eyes. He wore a silver and blue kimono with three swords at his hips. The third party of their group was a shorter version of Kai, silent and weary. “Know me, do you demon? I’ll have you know that if you cross me, I’ll kill you on the spot. I have a question, which is the reason I am here.” Kai glanced at the greasy haired demon before looking back at her, highly amused. “Is that right? Hear that, Turu, she’s got a question; s’why she’s here!”
“I would not advise this, princess.” Ryo whispered in her ear, his soul already winding around hers as the mouse evaporated into shards of aura, contorting and reshaping into Ryo’s spiritual form, surrounding her limbs in a warming embrace. “I have no doubt that we can take them.” Turu snorted in his own mirth, lifting his right hand almost lazily, but with deadly precision and intent. “You’re no match for us girl, even with the help of your little friend.” Black ooze began to seep from the greasy looking demon’s claws as he lifted them to his lips, which upon further inspection were blackish gray, as he must have done rubbed the poison upon them often.
~~ Iziaoya’s POV ~~
I pulled Okaa from her sheath, angling it in a sweeping arch to stand before me as I widened my stance. Ryo’s spirit solidified around me, embracing me comfortably and familiarly. I closed my eyes as I felt his soul carefully attach itself to mine, allowing him direction with control as freely as I would myself. I opened my eyes with a grin, the world was sharper, my instincts louder and alarmingly accurate. I could almost taste their aura on the air, feel the vibrations of their lungs and the rhythmic pump of their hearts. I spread my stance and pulled the blade high over my shoulder, arching my back down into a casual stance of my own design. “Brace yourselves, demon’s. I am your liberator; I will liberate you from this world. Be at peace.” I lunged forward with a clean stab and finished in a wide, graceful arch that severed the greasy demon’s head. Black ooze spurted and gushed from the whole between his shoulder as the body twitched and fell to its knees. The head landed with a heavy thud and rolled into flesh and bone, finally into ash; the body following suit a moment later. The demon named Kai roared most violently in outrage, his skin turned first to ash then a deathly blue as his eyes darkened and his face stretched. Darkness consumed him as he took flight, the smaller version of his already gone. Their screams of outrage and denial echoed around me as I reentered my balance and relaxed my stance, Ryo’s instincts echoing into mine and allowing me the vision and free-roam of a demon’s senses first hand. Their aura echoed in the air, circling me on wings of darkness smog. Bat demon’s. I closed my eyes and felt my shoulders fall lax.
Dead silence. The attack was as silent as a bird of prey in flight; it was the echo of demonic aura that alerted me as the beast breathed down the back of my neck. The chill rolled my shoulder as I used the motion to lurched to the side, missing the swipe of deadly shadow and follow with a down strike that severed a portion of solid shadow. A limb fell to the ground as silence fell once more. I released my breath and reentered my weight, closing my eyes again and awaiting the next attack. “You dare take the life of my brethren?” The voice was throaty, hissed and sharp. It rang from all direction as the demons circled closer. A chill prickled my skin as I began to sweat under the anticipation. “Relax, princess, you are tense. You must relax to move properly.” I swallowed and forced myself to relax once again; just in time as a chill raced up my spine and I whirled and ducked, swiped once and evaded their dual attack while injuring one of them again. I rose and centered my weight again, releasing my breath and forcing myself to relax again. “Wretched beasts of the dark, you take lives without heed or consequence. Hear me now.” I whispered as I closed my eyes again, my eyebrows lowering as I tilted my head into the sounds of the demons circling me. I could hear them now, Ryo’s instincts embedding for far into my own that we were one. “I judge you now, and take into my hands your fate! As you have done to countless innocent!” My eyes snapped open and before me swooped down the shadow, dark black eyes standing out in the unnatural fog as the bat sped towards me. “May the Gods take pity where I have not, on your soul.” I upswept, pushing every ounce of strength, will and effort I could into that single blow. My blade, as it sang through the air, created a vortex of energy centered around itself, pulling the air with it and at the demon’s approach, grabbed the shadow in an unmerciful bind; consuming the demon and his soul as it cleaved him in two. With the finish of the arch, the demon was gone, leaving behind a swirling silence that last a second before the forest became deathly still. I released my breath and as I did, the departure of the third demon rang in the night sky. I looked skyward to see his shadow bolt across the morning sky.
