Four Years

 

 

It has been 4 years ever since Kagome fell through the well and into the feudal era. It took 4 years for them to finally defeat Naraku. It took 4 years to finally find all the jewel shards. Kagome knew it was time for her to leave; she would have to go back to her ordinary life. She knew once she leaves, she won't be able to get back, with out the jewel. Kagome was walking through the forest towards the bone eaters well. She was surprised to see Inuyasha there, waiting for her at a near by tree. She sat beside him, trying to make eye contact, but he was avoiding it.

 

Inuyasha also knew it was time for her to leave. He could feel it in his heart, but he showed no emotions and pretended that he didn't care.

 

`You're gonna leave soon, aren't you?' Inuyasha calmly asked.

`Yes.' Kagome replied, her voice filled with sadness.

 

They stayed in an uncomfortable silence. Kagome knew she had to ask before she leaves.

 

`Inuyasha, have you ever loved me?'

 

Inuyasha was surprised by her question but after a moment he replied `No.'

 

Kagome felt tears swelling up in her eyes but she continued.

`Can I stay here with you?'

 

Inuyasha looked away from her.

`No.'

 

Tears were running down her face.

`When I leave, will you cry for me?'

 

`No.'

 

Kagome stood up and walked, heart broken, towards the bone eaters well but stopped suddenly when she felt Inuyasha grabbed her arm.

 

`Kagome, wait, you didn't let me finish.' Inuyasha quickly said.

 

Kagome turned around facing Inuyasha. Inuyasha's heart ached when he saw that his Kagome was shedding tears because of him.

 

`Kagome…you asked me if I ever loved you…no, I love you now, and I always have. It isn't something of the past.'

 

Kagome looked up to Inuyasha, surprised at what he said. `He loves me?'

 

Inuyasha continued.

`You asked me if you can stay here with me…well…no, you don't need to stay with me, I'll stay with you, forever.'

 

Kagome didn't know what to say, she just smiled.

 

`And lastly, you asked me if I'll cry when you leave. No, I won't cry, because I'll never let you leave me.'

 

Kagome's heart melted as those words were spoken. She started crying, but in joy this time and she wrapped her arms around Inuyasha's neck. She felt his hands around her waist.

 

`Oh, Inuyasha! I love you!' cried Kagome.

`Me too, Kagome. I love you too!' replied Inuyasha as he hugged her closer.

 

It has been 4 years ever since Kagome fell through the well and into the feudal era. It took 4 years for them to finally defeat Naraku. It took 4 years to finally find all the jewel shards. And it also took 4 years for both of them to realize and admit how much they loved each other.
