Prelude: A Moonlit Angel
For those who were unfortunate enough to live in the West, the thought of peace had finally lost all hope. The North had pushed their limits and breached the peace treaty between the two nations. Both Inu clans were now preparing for war. The last hope for peace had been the Northern Lady's much anticipated arrival of a new heir. But, it seemed that the Gods had forsaken the once almighty Celestial Inu Clan. Now they were split. To the North lies the Ecliptic Inu clan, which wielded the powers of the sun. To the West lies the Lunar Inu clan, who of course wielded the powers of the moon.
The day finally arrived, and word spread throughout both lands that she had gone into labor. And for a moment all seemed to be going in the right direction. Then, disaster struck, in the form of a small infant. The heir of the North, the much-anticipated child of peace and prosperity, was an heiress. No longer was there hope of a new lord, for a princess had been born. And all was doomed. In a much drastic attempt to claim peace, the Lady's vassals ordered that the child be thrown from the lands, and word to be sent that the Lady had miscarried. So it was done, but not according to plan. The servant ordered to rid the lands of the child was Hiro Yazamaki. He was disgusted by the thought of leaving a child to die, so he and his elder and younger brothers Kyo and Akira fled the lands.
Their treachery was discovered almost immediately and elite assassins were sent to kill them and the child. Masters in the deadliest forms of martial arts ensures a guaranteed success. The traitors were found hidden asleep in the cave at the very edge of the Forest of Death, where North met West. The three awoke too late and were surrounded before they could draw their next breath. But their mission was successful; they had saved the child.
Flowing down the Kamikawa, hidden in a woven basket and covered in a blanket of silk, slept the heiress to the North. The river only moved in one direction, West. And as it did, so did the hope of two nations.

A/N: It's just the prelude. Boring and short I know. I may lengthen it later when I update, but only if you're nice and review. I swear the next chapter will be longer. Inuyasha and gang don't come in `til way, way later as I said. But they will, just… eventually. Ja ne!
