Ch. 1 Meeting You

Sesshoumaru POV

“Come on Sessh you have to find a girl before the spring formal thingy… whatever it is. Come on it's the biggest dance known to man… and occasionally to monkey… you need to be there, with a date, at 6 o'clock sharp” Inuyasha fumed as he paced the elegant living room.

Sesshoumaru, who sat there on the lovely leather loveseat placed in the center of the room, in front of the big screen TV that could make a movie theater screen look like a joke, just looked bored as usual.

“My personal life is none of your business little brother, I do not care if I do, or do not have a date to accompany my person to the formal” said Sesshoumaru snidely as he tucked some hair behind his ear.

Inuyasha looked at him with disgust “first of all never do that hair thing again, you look like a girl, and secondly you need to get a better attitude if you're going to get a girl. Sometimes I just don't get you, WE don't get you.”

Sesshoumaru just walked out as the images of his so called friends passed in front of his eyes. He was a jock at Kunikada High, right in the heart of Japan. They were the most exclusive high school around, and the best competition to rivals. The programs offered by the school were the best in the continent, ranging from sports to arts to pretty much anything you could think of. Sesshoumaru had a problem though; his demeanor would not allow him to stoop so low as to ask a girl to a dance… an anything, he was just too proud.

As a custom to Kunikada High each captain of a sport was required to present there date at the spring formal. He, Inuyasha, Kouga, Miroku, Naraku, Kohaku, Shippo, and Houjo were the captains this year and to his dismay each of them had a date, except him. Inuyasha, captain of the football team was going with Kikyo, captain of the cheerleading team. Kohaku, captain of the baseball team was going with Rin who was captain of the equestrian team. Shippo, captain of the swim team was going with Kirara who was captain of the tennis team. Kouga, captain of the basketball team was going with Ayame, captain of the gymnastics team. Houjo, captain of the track/cross country team was going with his steady date Eri who was captain of the golf team. Naraku, captain of the lacrosse and rugby team (when it was in season) was going with Kagura, captain of the volleyball team. Lastly Miroku, captain of the hockey team was going with Sango, Kohaku's twin sister, captain of the softball team.

“Wait get back here, Im not through with you yet” Inuyasha yelled after his half brother yet his words fell on deaf ears.

Sesshoumaru went up to his room and grabbed his heavy blue soccer bag and headed to his car parked in the driveway. He had practice, yet again, from 4-8. Who knew that a soccer team could practice that long? He groaned as he walked out of the house slamming the door and automatically unlocking his silver corvette. He loaded his car and then made the 5 mile journey to the school where practice would begin.

****4 hours later****

Sesshoumaru strode out of practice and put his bag in the car when he heard very loud music blaring in the south end of the school. Being nosy, which was very unlike him, he made his way towards the noise, only to have it turned off and yelling take its place. He over heard the conversation.

“Guys please, Im begging you, we have a competition this weekend and this winterguard team still isn't up to par with our standards. Please I know we've been here since 4 but we only have an hour left to work on our show. Please try to pretend like you want to be here, Im so sick and tired of hearing everyone complain about being hungry and thirsty when all you do is stand around. I am very grateful that you all have talent and have prospered but you need to put some energy into this. A blade hand isn't bent its strait, like a blade, henceforth the name. Could you all please try a little bit harder, run the second fragment again” yelled the voice.

Sesshoumaru, for the first time in a long time, was very interested, he knew that they had a winterguard team but never got the time out from practice to watch them perform. He slid around the building and looked out onto the football field where they had 4 white closets set up on the far left hand corner on a slant and 6 black foam pieces in a jagged row along the back where they intersected a very large, very exaggerated bed. The bed was pink with a girl dressed in all green sitting on the side looking bored. The bed had a large ramp leading up the side and a few large stuffed animals on it. Everything plus 17 girl's wearing all black and 8 in clown, Barbie, army, and doll clothing. He sat gracefully on the top level of the bleachers as he watched them set for a run.

“Ok guys, if you make this the best run, and put some energy into it, and then we will call it quits for practice” yelled a black haired beauty.

Sesshoumaru knew her as Kagome Higurashi, she was friends Sango, who was Miroku's girlfriend, and she was the captain of the winterguard/colorguard teams. He watched as Kagome and the rest of the guard put on there masks with an indifferent look on there faces. One that said they knew she was right but didn't want to show it. Kagome waved her hand and the music started. He watched as they danced around the floor with renewed strength. Kagome and Sesshoumaru had met briefly during one of Miroku's wild parties. She was a nice girl with chocolate brown eyes and a nice figure. The music ended with all the people kneeling on the floor and the girl in green standing up in the middle. They all cheered when Kagome said they could go home, they all grabbed there things and left Kagome with two other girls to clean up.

“I don't get it” he heard Kagome say.

Kagome POV

“Why don't they stay and help like a good team, or even friends do. We are always the only people who put things away and Im sick of it, do you know how heavy that tarp is” she growled at her friends who had started taking down the light weight black foam walls.

Kagome shook her head as she flipped each of the bed pieces, four in total, up on the wheels on the sides with ease and threw the blankets and stuffed animals in waterproof bags.

“It would really suck if it rained right now, the floor and props would be trashed and the show would be hopeless” Kagome whined as she shifted the bed off the tarp.

She finished putting the bed pieces in the loading truck; that they used for shows, and went back for the doors. Once the doors were all loaded on the flatbed then she shifted them into the truck. Finally with all the props gone and most of the equipment loaded up she told the girls that were helping her that they could go home and that she would put the rest of the equipment away along with the tarp. All three girls gave her funny looks but left anyway. Once they were gone the coast was clear.

Kagome lay sprawled out on the tarp and stared up at the sky thinking of what to do. She normally stayed after practice but really didn't feel like doing anything right now.

“Why do people have to be so selfish, grrrr… if a few more people stayed then we could have gotten things together more easily” she whined.

Sesshoumaru P.O.V.

He watched as she sat on the middle of the tarp deep in thought. A few minutes later he almost left, she was taking to long to do anything. Finally after a few minutes she got up and grabbed a rifle. He watched in amazement as she tossed it around expertly, and found himself wondering how long she had tried to perfect her movements across the floor. “Hey Sesshoumaru” he heard her say.

Kagome P.O.V.

“Hey Sesshoumaru” she said “I know you've been watching me, come down here”.

Kagome could have sworn she heard him snort, but Sesshoumaru, or as his team called him Lord of the Western Lands, did not snort, he was to dignified. She watched him slowly make his way down to the field where she was practicing and sit on the bleacher closest to her.

“So did you come all this way to watch me or did you have other things on you mind” asked Kagome.

“I was merely captivated by the strange noises coming from my brothers' domain, and merely did not want to go home to the slacker right away” Sesshoumaru said proudly.

“I see, well as you can tell I am still practicing and will be for the next half hour so feel free to watch me, if you want” said Kagome smiling then tossing a seven.
