InuYasha Fan Fiction ❯ Ghost Hunt ❯ Rumors ( Chapter 1 )
[ P - Pre-Teen ]
“Forever lost,
In the blue of the well;
Beyond,
In a time out of reach.
I wait, I wait,
For you return to me,
My love and sanctuary,
My home.
You are my castle of red,
My sky of gold;
Protector of my soul,
Holder of my heart.
Return to me,
I won't last,
Without out your love;
Without your touch.
Take my hand into your own,
Lead me away,
Take my home;
Take me to the time beyond.”
Kagome finished and stared at her classmates, waiting for a response. A small applause went through the literature class. The teacher nodded for her sit back down, so she bowed and took her seat. “Very well done, Higurashi, once again you surprise me. I give you a… C.” Her teacher smiled. Kagome let out a sigh, she was at least hoping for a B. “Now, who shall be next? Yamada-kun, I choose you! Now wake up and recite this week's poem.” The teacher was a bubbly one; young and fresh out of college. Kagome hated her.
The rest of the day, like all of her school days, was a blur. Ever sense the well sealed, life for Kagome wasn't happy. It has been almost 5 months sense it happened and she still was upset. She was having trouble in school and didn't really like to be social. Luckily she had her friends though. They had been a real help for her and she couldn't thank them enough for it. Hopefully soon she would get her act together, her marks were horrible. Even her grades from when she was “sick” were better then these.
“Another day, finished.” She sighed as she slipped back on her street shoes.
“Kagome, your poem was good. Ando-sensei should have given you a better grade.” Yuka told her. They walked for quietly for awhile, until Yuka stated, “It was unfair. Have you noticed that she is always harsh on the pretty girls?”
“Really? I haven't had any problems with her.” Ayumi replied.
“That's because all the teachers love you.” Yuka said with a grin. “No one could hate you.” She gave Ayumi a shove.
“Maybe we should do something to her?” Eri said with an evil grin. “It would be fun! Like do something to her room or something.”
“That would be fun. Put something into her desk that would scare the crap out of her.” Ayumi suggested. Things were kind of boring around there school.
“Or we could spread an awful rumor! Like that she is some sort of youkai in disguise that feeds off the misery of the girls she tortures. Or that she has a thing for the old, ugly fitness teacher.” Yuka proposed rubbing her hands together. She always loved spreading a juicy rumor.
“Oh My God! Speaking of rumors. Did you know that our school is haunted?” Ayumi squealed excitedly, slightly shocking her friends. They all stared at her confused.
“No. How is our school haunted?” Kagome asked perplexedly. All of them stopped at a crossing as a trained roared by.
“They say that this girl, Daishi Aimi, committed suicide by jumping off the top of the school. They say it was because her whole family got killed and so she followed after them.” She explained to them over the roar of the train.
“I don't believe in ghosts. It's probably just something someone made up.” Eri said as she adjusted her headband.
“But it gets cooler! They say that the reason she haunts the school because she forgot about her boyfriend. So she regrets doing it. At night, when you're on the top of the roof, they say that you can see her. Her uniform is all bloody and she walks around up there crying. Its creepy stuff. One of the girls in my English 2 class said she saw her!” She paused, and then continued, “And her boyfriend is the second ghost of our school. I don't know his name, but he was the star of the track team. He overdosed after losing her. They say that he still runs around the track moaning `Aimi… Aimi…' It's that cool stuff.”
“That's so creepy.” Yuka said. She jogged a little forward away from the group when she had a cold chill.
“That's so sad.” Kagome said.
They arrive at Yuka's house and continued the conversation in her room. It was a normal sized room. Simple interior and furniture and decorated in the color forest green.
“Well I don't believe it. Ghost's can't be real.” Eri said smugly.
“Actually, they are. I've dealt with them before.” Kagome informed them as she took a seat on the green bed.
“Yeah, in that time, but there aren't any here, are there?”
“I dealt with them here. Ghosts are as real as you or me.” Kagome was referring that time with Mayu.
“See! If Kagome says there here, then they are! I am so right.” Ayumi bragged happily.
“Well the school can't be haunted.” Eri urged. She knew she was losing the battle.
Well then, let's prove it. How about tonight, we go to the school and see for ourselves. If Eri wins, Ayumi will pay for all our Wacdnald's fees till graduation. The same goes with Ayumi, if she wins, and Eri will do the same.” Kagome suggested.
Eri and Ayumi stared at each other then grinned. “I think we have a bet.” Eri said, sticking out her hand to shake on it.
“Yes, we do.” Ayumi reached out and shook her friend's hand. “Be ready to use your college money, Eri. I'm gonna be hungry tomorrow.”

They gathered around the entrance of their school. The wind was howling causing the leaves to blow. The school looked eerie and dark over the fence. Kagome shivered when she sense a something dark. Ayumi death gripped he arm while Yuka and Eri tried to unlock the front gate. “There,” Yuka said as the chain slid of the gate and onto the ground, “We are in.”
Kagome took a step forward, but was pulled back by Ayumi. “We'll be okay, won't we Kagome. I mean, I've heard that youkai and ghosts will, you know… Take your soul and stuff like that.” Ayumi said in a timid and scared voice.
Kagome gave her a reassuring smile, “We'll be fine.” Turning on her flashlight, Kagome walked through the gate and onto the school grounds.
It was strange to walk to Kagome to walk on the school grounds at night. The building seemed bigger yet empty. “Come on. I heard they keep a library window open. We can enter through there.” Eri whispered. As they got closer the school, Yuka gasped. A look of horror crossed her face as she pointed to the roof. They all looked up. On top of the school was a glowing figure. Ayumi screamed as the figure jumped of the school and floated towards them at an unnatural speed. “WWHHHYYY!!!” It cried before it disappeared.
“Lets get the hell out of hear!” Eri said in a panicked voice. Before she could bolt, Kagome grabbed her arm.
“No Eri, we can't leave yet.” She said firmly. They all stared at her like she had just grown horns or something. “We have to do something. These ghosts need to be pacified and put to rest.” Her voice was filled with determination.
“What ever, Kagome-chan, I'm out of here of here. This is just way to creepy for me.” She said. The others nodded in agreement.
She sighed, “Fine. I'll do it by myself.” She turned away from them and continued to walk towards the school.
“We can't leave her to do this herself, you know.” Ayumi stated.
“Ayumi is right. She's our friend. Now matter how crazy this seems, we should stay by her side.” Yuka said as she reached up to grip Eri's shoulders.
Eri sighed, “Fine! But if we all die, it will be your fault, Ayumi.”
“Okay, I can live with that.” She said.
“Kagome wait up!” Yuka yelled. Kagome turned and saw her friends jogging up to her.
Kagome smile at them and said to them quietly, “Thanks guys.” Eri walked up to the front and lead them to the library window. Kagome sighed, what has she gotten herself into now?
