Chapter 10

Sesshomaru's POV

I drove in silence
along the coast
as the sun rained down
and the waves shimmered.
The day was hot and the wind was cool.
The windows were down and
music created itself.
Looking over, I watched as hair
rippled against the wind
and pale skin glowed.
I pulled over and
I walked hand in hand
with Kagome
into the park.
Her first day out
and off my land,
into the public.
She stayed close
to my side
and watched the lake
when the birds landed.
Night came slowly
and light flooded the walk ways.
I still felt Kagome next to me,
smelled her,
heard her.
Smelled reek.
Smelled blood.
Heard nothing.
Felt no one,
but myself.
I stood alone
while she laid dead.

Things have changed
like I have changed.
I cant feel the hard edge of ice
and I don't growl at little
heart felt things.
Before I had a world
filled with the loneliness
I had always wanted.
I had women but
only for two days.
I had friends
that never lasted the week.
I always worked or
traveled.
I could never stay in one
place for too long.
Before I had a life
that I wanted to be
greater than
my own fathers life
before he died.

Now I watched
one thing I have
never had before
laying asleep next to me
and myself in a sheet of sweat.
A dream
that was very real.
A terror
I cant let happen.
Brushing the hair away from
Kagome's face
her skin was like crystal,
pure and clean.
Nothing will happen to her
I swear,
I promise,
I vow.

She asked me
to go into town
with me.
She seemed hesitant
but eager.
I was not
and the dream was
brought back to mind.
I didnt want to tell her
and make her worry
or revert back
to how she was before.
I want to remember
what life is like
outside.

We drove up to
Inuyasha's house.
A two story
traditional house
with its own modern twists.
A woman with ebony hair
came out and waved.
I helped Kagome
out of the car
and led her to the house.
Kikyo,
I greeted her
like I would to any family.
I had seen her
as any other human
but now that changed.
Sesshomaru,
she bowed,
And this must be Kagome.
She bowed to her as well.
Irrasshaimase. Dozo yoroshiku.

Kikyo treated Kagome
like an old friend.
Kagome in turn
laughed at Inuyasha's antics
and Kikyo's obvious
control on him.
Later they decided to go out
and have a ‘ladies day out’.
The woman left
and it was just
Inuyasha
and
me.
