InuYasha Fan Fiction ❯ Goodbye Miss Independent ❯ Goodbye Miss Independent ( Chapter 1 )

[ A - All Readers ]
A Sango and Miroku songfic. One of my first, but probably not my last. Still under construction.
Disclaimer: I do not own any of the Inuyasha characters or the scenery, nor do I make any money off of this. (The bull demon wasn't my idea, either.) The song is Kelly Clarckson's, and Inuyasha is Rumiko Takahashi's. The song is called "Miss Independent"

"Sango!" A familiar monk called her name out in warning. Once more they were in battle, fighting against some bull demon with a jewel shard imbedded in it's forehead. It seemed to favor running after Inuyasha and Kagome. Inuyasha had grabbed Kagome and lept into a nearby tree, trying to bring her to a safe distance.

The bull demon, in it's outrage, had turned on Sango, Miroku, and Kiara. Well, more like to Sango. He charged at her, head down and horns aiming for her body. She grabbed her giant bommerang and with a battle cry she threw it at the beast, aiming for the exposed conjunction between his neck and shoulder blades. It sliced through flesh, muscle and bone, literally chopping off the demons back. It snorted and bucked out wildly in its pain as her bommerang returned to her. Sango watched for a second and then stalked over to the beast. She raised her weapon above her head when she was near enough to the beast. It had ceased its bucking and was now swaying, standing in one spot. She supposed it was lack of blood, but she didn't really care right now. She aimed carefully and threw her boomerang again, this time succesfully slicing the head off the demon. She caught her boomerang as it came back to her, and walked over to the head.

She stood and watched as Inuyasha brought Kagome over to the dismembered head of the beast. The girl looked ill at the sight, but still reached over and plucked the glowing jewel from its forehead. Sango stood proudly for a second, and attatched her boomerang to her back. Kiara, now in her kitten form, lept unto her shoulder and purred lovingly to her.

As they were walking away from the heaping dead figure, Miroku matched her pace and walked alongside her. He praised her softly, telling her she was a magnificant woman in the battlefield. She nodded her head and thanked him, walking with her head up and drawn to her full height.

Miss independentMiss self-sufficientMiss keep your distance, noMiss on her own

A loud smack was heard seconds later, and both Inuyasha and Kagome turned around, watching with amusement as Miroku rubbed his red cheek. Shippou, from Kagome's shoulder, laughed at the monk and teased him.
Miss almost grown

Later on, the monk had offered a hand to her after a break to help her stand. She smiled at him, stood up without his help, and thanked him before walking away with Kagome. Inuyasha grinned cockily at Miroku.
Miss never let a man help her off her throne

The monk had continued to be sweet towards her for the next few weeks, yet she continued to ignore it.
So, by keeping her heart protectedShe'd never ever feel rejected
She became wary of Miroku. He was sweet and sugary towards her, always there to help her or keep her company. He would still, although not as much, reach for her bottom on occasion.

Little miss apprehensive
She stood today in a small field of flowers with a stream of water running through it in front of her. Picking her kimono up to her knees, she sat down on the bank of the stream and dipped her feet into the cool, refreshing water. She was alone, aside from Kiara, who sat beside her in kitten form, purring away happily. Her thoughts drifted to the monk, and she couldn't help but feel a strong tug of happiness at the thought of him.

Said ooh, she fell in love
She didn't understand what was coming over her. She couldn't get the monk's sweet, handsome face out of her head.
What is the feelin' takin' over?
She had thought that long ago she locked the door to her heart and through the key away.

Thinkin' no one could open the door

Only to find out now that the silly little monk had the damn key all along.
Surprise...It's time
Looking up at the sky, her heart soared.

To feel what's real
She wouldn't miss her days of being lonley without a male companion. She had Miroku now.
What happened to miss independent? No more the need for me to miss him

Returning back to Kaede's hut, she welcomed a small hug from Miroku, ignoring the glances from the villagers.
Goodbye on youReal love, true love is

Miroku offered to go for a walk through the forest. She accepted with a smile on her face.
Oooh...

She could practically feel the cold stone falling away from her heart for the monk.Miss independent walked awayI'm so glad I finally feel...
What is this feeling? Could it be...?
What is the feelin' takin' over?Thinkin' no one could open the door

Love. She was in love with Miroku.
Surprise (surprise), it's timeTo feel (to feel) what's real
She wandered when she had fallen for the man's charm, but decided that it wasn't important. She was with him now.
What happened to miss independent?

They walked on through the small path to the Sacred Tree. They talked about all sorts of things. Fighting techniques, funny memories of the gang, their pasts and the such. Miroku sat down next to the tree on a nice piece of grass, Sango following his example.
No one more the need for me to miss himGoodbye on you

While they sat there talking about anything and everything, she thought about how much she had changed. She went from the cold demon exterminator with no love interest, to a younge woman in love. Miroku had his arm around her shoulders now. She laughed at something he said.
Real love, true love is

She leaned into him, smiling up at him. He looked down at her, smiling right back at her. They leaned into one another, lips brushing softly.
Real...
