Chapter Three

Deciding Destiny

"Hey dog crap I have come for my women!" Kougra called out.

"Don't you mean woman you wimpy wolf!" Inuyasha spat back.

"I mean I am taking Kagome and Rai for war uses!" Kougra yelled as he dashed for Kagome and Rai.

"You may be fast but I am faster wimp!" Rai yelled as she grabbed Kagome and shot some of her special arrows at Kougra. One hit him in the leg making him fall. Rai walked over and put her foot on his chest and said, "You obviously don't know who you are dealing with do you?"

"I know you're strong but if I get your leg your mine." Kougra grabbed her leg and swung her over his shoulder and grabbed Kagome who was struggling to get free. Inuyasha and Shomaru rushed for Kougra who sped away. They rushed after them trying to gain speed, but lost them in the forest.

"Where are you taking us?" Rai yelled at the wolf demon.

"Back to my pack where you are needed Rai and Kagome to be my mate."

"Yuck!"

"What is your problem, demon girl!"

"I don't think anyone would like you especially another demons' mate."

"She is not Inuyashas' so shut up!"

In the mountains Rai and Kagome were dropped in the middle of a large wolf pack. The demons knew about Kagome but they were really interested in the new girl who smelled…demon. Some of the larger wolves walked towards Rai trying to touch the tied up girl. Rai looked at them with a smirk on her face and then a giant tiger flew out of the forest and took out one of the demons. It growled at the others who were trying to chase it away. During the commotion Rai got her hands untied and drew out her arrows and shot them at the demons. She hit two and the rest stayed away until Kougra came out of the hut where Kagome was being held captive.

"Now boys be nice to our new weapon."

"What is going to do? Give us pups?"

"She has some sort of power that can kill us all."

"You're kiddin aren't you Kougra?"

"Maybe, maybe not."

Rai looked at the wolf demon who thought he could use her any way he wanted. What would he do with her, take over the world? No she wouldn't do that, but he had Kagome and if he really wanted to do anything he would use her.

"Kougra sir there are some invaders approaching."

"Inuyasha! Rai now I have your first quest. Destroy Inuyasha!"

"I will not do that! He is my friend and I will not harm him!"

"Well then I will harm Kagome."

"No! Leave her alone wolf! I won't kill him but I'll get him to leave."

"Kill him or I harm Kagome and kill the little runt!"

"Shippo no, you can't do that!"

"I will if you don't kill the mutt."

Rai could not believe what she had to do; she had to kill her friend. It hurt so much that she had to commit such a horrible task that would eat her alive. As she found the rest of the group looking for her, she stepped out and held out her fire sword and rushed towards Inuyasha. She struck him in the shoulder and wept saying, "I'm so sorry Inuyasha, forgive me." Sango, Miroku and Shomaru stood in shock as Inuyasha lay on the ground covered in blood and dying from Rai. Kagome was pushed out of the forest with Shippo clinging to her shirt as she rushed to the dying half-demon.

"Rai how could you?" Kagome looked angry with tears gleaming on her face as she hugged Inuyasha.

"Kagome I…I did it for you. Kougra would have hurt you and killed Shippo."

"I don't care what happened, I HATE YOU!!"

Running deeper into the forest away from it all she ran. The memories of all that happened here and something kept asking why she was here in the first place? Why did she ever come at all? She ran until she fell onto the forest ground tears streaming into the ground.

"I wish with all my heart that Inuyasha would live again, for Kagome. Inuyasha is needed more than I am and I would give my life for it."

"You should never say that."

As her body was lifted off the ground she saw Inuyasha fine as could be looking at her. It couldn't be possible, she had watched him die from her attack.

"How can you be alive?"

"You brought me back Rai. Those powers of yours must have finally allowed the life to come just for me."

She looked into his gold eyes and hugged him so hard that he had to put her down. Shomaru was behind him and walk up to Rai and looked at her, his eyes seemed to glow with happiness. He let his heart finally be taken by this human demon because he needed her as much as she needed him.

*That Night*

"Shomaru are you still awake?"

"Yeah I am." He rolled over and looked at Rai who was gazing at the stars.

"The stars are beautiful aren't they?"

"Yes shining like your two bright eyes."

"Stop it you're making me blush!"

"I am sorry."

"No I like it when you do." Rai rolled over to look at Shomaru who was deep in thought. He was thinking if he should tell her about the plan or ask it a different way. Would she hate him for trying to kidnap her or would she understand. He got up and moved next to Rai. She sat up and laid her head on his chest as he placed his arm around her shoulder and held her tight.

"Rai would you hate me if I said I was a demon?"

"No I wouldn't Shomaru because well…I have grown to love you."

"I have as well and I have never felt this way. I am use to being alone. Away, from everyone. No one but you really understands that kind of feeling. Rai I love you and I can't live without you."

"I love you too Shomaru."

"Rai would you come with me for a minute I need to show you something."

"Alright."

They got up to walk towards the forest. Inuyasha, Kagome, Sango and Miroku were awake watching as the couple left hand in hand.

"OOOOOO Their going to do it!" Miroku exclaimed.

"No they aren't you perverted fool." Sango yelled at him.

"I still don't trust him." Inuyasha informed.

"Inuyasha you don't know how sad Rai was until she met Shomaru. I would hear her cry at night because no one really understands her world. Like she told me we have someone but Rai never had anyone. Its' nice that her wish came true because she deserves it."

"You are right Kagome she does deserve it after all the torture and work she has gone through." Miroku said

"I agree." Sango mentioned.

`Well he better not harm her." Inuyasha said protectively.

"You didn't hear him did you? He said he loved her Inuyasha!" Kagome said with a glare.

Back in the forest Rai and Shomaru sat by a tree. Shomaru told her he was going to show her something. He said it was alright if she hated him. In a few seconds Shomaru turned back into his demon form becoming Sesshomaru. Rai was shocked at who he was but got up and went into his arms as he embraced her. He picked her up and took Rai up into a tree so she could see the view. He told about his land and about how he wanted her to live with him. Rai said she would if she learned how to transform. He knew it would take awhile and promised to stay with her forever until her quest was complete. She lay on his chest with his arms around her and fell asleep.

Back at his home Naraku saw that Sesshomaru wasn't going bring the girl. He was going to have to take her then. He knew that Rai was going to hate Sesshomaru if she found out he was going to use her as a weapon. During the night he would snatch the girl away.

Sesshomaru back in his human form and Rai walked backed to camp to find a nice fire lit. The curled up next to each other under a blanket as they slept together next to the fire.

"We saw you and Shomaru leave Rai! What did you all do?" Kagome asked slyly.

"We talked about stuff we knew you all would want to hear." Rai responded slyly

"Tell me please!"

"No! Its' for me to know and for you to find out."

"Okay"

Shomaru walked back to Rai after Kagome left and grabbed her hand and gave it a slight squeeze. She squeezed his hand back loving every moment of standing next to him. He nuzzled his face in her hair making her giggle.

"Hey Rai would you create a hot spring I think its time for a break." Sango called back.

"All right we need to take a bath." Rai responded

"Girls get to go first." Kagome said

"Fine with us." The guys said together.

Hot springs were the easiest thing so it took no time to create one. The girls undressed and slipped into the warm waters. Rai had all her bathing soaps and shampoos for their use. Kagome took the vanilla, Sango took the citrus and Rai used the floral soap. It reminded her of Sesshomaru who was talking with the other guys in his human form.

"I have a very good idea. A game to get the girls to do something for us." Shomaru said slyly

"Oooo! I want to hear this one!" Miroku said with joy

"Yeah let me on this idea." Inuyasha asked

"We play a hide and seek game. We hide first and the come and find us, if they can't find us, then they hide and we find them. The prize is the group who loses has to do whatever the winning groups want to do for the whole day." Shomaru said

"With my nose I can find them by scent." Inuyasha said with pride.

"I can be very sneaky and get them without them knowing I am there." Miroku told.

"And with my good looks I can convince them to play."

"Ok this is going to be great fun."

When the girls had finished their bath Shomaru was waiting for them. He asked if they would play a game. They wanted to know the prize before they said yes. When they found out the prize they agreed to play. The girls went off and hid in the forest. Rai was the hardest to find because she covered her scent from Inuyasha, Was very alert and knew Shomaru to well. In the end the guys won the game and their first decision was to have the girls treat them as if they were in one of Rais, Massage House. They had to wash the hair of the guy who found him and massage their backs after they learned how.

"You all smell nice." Kagome commented

"Yes is there anything else the winners want us to do?" Rai said

"Would you brush our hair out after your done washing?" The guys asked

"Me Too!" cried Shippo

"Ok, Ok, we will, just give us time." They responded

After the guys had their relaxing moment in the hot spring with three pretty ladies. It was dark and time for sleep and the last request of the guys was to have each girl sleep near them. Sango was not the happiest so she kept her boomerang close by. As the night wore on the girls got the courage to lay a little closer to their winner.

A dark cloud came over the sky making the air feel in an evil sort of way. Sesshomaru felt that someone was close by but didn't see anyone. He stayed awake just then a dark figure swooped down and snatched Rai from his arms. Not caring about anything Sesshomaru changed and chased after Naraku. He was going to have his head. He called out to the others that were just awakening and noticing what was happening.
