Chapter 9: Tough Love
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~~*~*~*~*~*
“You used to come here all the time?” Kagome asked and gazed down at the crystal clear waters InuYasha had brought her here to get away from the others. There were a few cherry trees with a few blossoms left on them still that lined the edge of a clear blue lake.
“Yea. When I was little I'd come here to get away from other people. My mother put a special spell around here so only people and demons I brought with me could come in.”
“So it's very dear to you, isn't it?” He nodded his head and sat down next to her. “How come you never really talk about your mother? It helps if you talk about things that make you sad.”
“I'd rather not.”
“If you say so.” She sighed and picked up a blossom covered twig. She tossed it into the water and watched as the blossoms floated to the top and the twig sank into the dark bottom.
“Kagome?”
“Um-hm?”
“Where's your father?” She stiffened and closed her eyes with a sigh.
“He died when I was about four. My mother never really told me how, but I think it was a car accident. I didn't know him, but it still hurts to talk about it…” she said and began to cry. InuYasha pulled her into an embrace.
“I'm sorry…” he whispered. She nodded against his shoulder and pulled away. She sniffed and wiped away the tears, giving him a smile.
“I shouldn't cry like this! I didn't even know him!”
“Don't say that!” She looked up at InuYasha with a startled look on her face. “Just because you don't remember someone doesn't mean you can't cry for them! I didn't know my father, but I cried with my mother when ever she remembered him…” he said and almost whispered the last part. She looked at the ground and nodded her head.
“You're right. Gomen…”
“No more apologizing either! If you're going to start being a hanyou you have to act like one! Start showing me you're change like you told me before! You can't be so soft all the time!”
“But I am different!”
“Then show me. I'll fight you, bitch, but I'll have to go easy. You are way too weak to ever hurt me!” he said with a cocky grin and jumped up.
“Take that back, you jerk!” Kagome yelled getting up to.
“Make me, bitch!”
“And stop calling me that!” she yelled and slashed out at him with her claws. He jumped back and grinned, flashing out his own claws.
“This will be fun.” She huffed and held out her hand. Golden dust gathered in her hand and formed a sword. She lashed it out to have it clash with the Tetsusaiga. They ran them up until the two were face to face. InuYasha grunted as Kagome forced him back and pulled her sword away to allow him to fall forward. He caught himself from falling and turned around to her with a glare on his face. “Maybe you're better then I thought, but you still can't beat me!”
“Say what up want, dog boy! I'm going to beat you so bad you'll go crying to Kaede from help!” she said and charged at him again. She swung out her sword to have him jump over it and flip backwards.
“You sure about that, my little bitch?” She growled and held out another hand. A small golden ball formed in her palm and she held it up for InuYasha to see.
“See this? It's a little thing I call dog repellent!” She threw it at InuYasha and he ducked to have it land right behind him. He laughed and pointed Tetsusaiga at her.
“Was that supposed to hurt me! Pathetic!” She just smirked and held out her sword.
“Just wait…” He blinked and looked behind him to see the ball was glowing. I began to blink faster and faster. He leaned down just as it burst into light and exploded in his face. He fell back coughing and hacking. He shook his head and got a lazy look on his face.
“Wha-what is that stuff…! I can't move me arms and legs…!” he thought and fell back onto his back. Kagome laughed and walked up to him. She towered over him with a big smile on her face and tapped his nose with her finger.
“Looks like I won! You can't even move can you! Ha!” He growled and tired to move his arms to have no luck. “Just wait a minute. I'll get you an antidote.” She held out her hand once again to have a bottle appear in it. She opened it up and pride his mouth open. She gently poured a little into his mouth and he pulled his arms up. She put the stopper back on the bottle and moved back as he got up. “Are you going to be a sore loser?” she asked as he slid Tetsusaiga back into its sheath. He looked up at her and smiled.
“No. You just proved that you are a real hanyou. You have the smarts, strength, and power,” he said and crossed his arms into his sleeves with a serious look on his face. She blinked and then grinned.
“Look whose trying to act like mister know it all!” He gave her a weird look and `feh'd.
“Say what you want, Kagome, but I know what I'm talking about!”
“Sure…” she said and gave her a sword a squeeze. It shattered into the same golden dust and she dusted off her hands. “You really aren't that tough.”
“I told you I was taking it easy on you. I'd never hurt you!” he said and blushed. She smiled and nodded her head.
“I know you'd never.”
“Kagome!” They looked back as Malana came running up. She hit the barrier and fell back. She looked up at them with tears in her eyes.
“Malana! Bring her in, InuYasha!” He huffed as started walking towards the girl. A slight rustle in the bushes caught his eyes and he speed up a little. He grabbed her arm and pulled her through the barrier just as something leapt out and rammed head first into it. The creature landed on all fours and hissed. Malana looked up and gasped.
“Momo!” she cried and started towards the barrier. InuYasha grabbed her arm and pulled her back, shaking his head.
“Stay away from it. I'll take care of it!” He pulled Tetsusaiga out, but Kagome called out.
“No! Don't hurt it!” he stopped and looked back at her. She walked up beside him and took Tetsusaiga from his hands. “It's a hanyou… But there's something different about it.”
“She's an angel… Naraku has control over her though. She's a devil spy now…!” Malana said and began to cry.
“It's alright, Malana. I'll help her,” Kagome said kneeling next to her. Her looked up at her and sniffed.
“Really?”
“Of course. What was her name again?”
“Momo. She was one of my friends when I was alive.” Kagome nodded and stood up, taking a step towards the devil angel. Momo hissed and bared her fangs at her.
“I hope this works…!” Kagome thought as she reached out for the girl.
“Be careful, Kagome!” Malana cried just as Momo swiped out her claws to scratch Kagome's hand. Kagome heard InuYasha growl and she bit her lip to keep from crying out in pain.
“Are you that eager to die?” the girl asked with a wicked smile. Kagome grabbed her hand and she let out a yowl of pain. A line steam of smoke drifted from her skin and Kagome grabbed her other hand. The girl cried out in pain as blue flames began to for over Kagome's hands. They traveled up her arms and soon engulfed her completely. Once they cleared there laid a now normal Momo. Her eyes blinked open and she quickly sat up with a gasp.
“Where am I!” she cried out as Kagome stood up. Malana rushed over to her and hugged her tightly. Momo gasped again and hugged her back. “Malana…!” Kagome watched as a smile spread across her face as she watched the two girls. Someone took her hand from behind and she turned around. InuYasha looked closely at her hand.
“Does it hurt?” he asked looking up at her. He ran his fingers over the now bleeding cuts.
“I'm fine. It'll heal in no time!”
“Do you want to go back now?”
“We'll be fine. I see no reason to.”
“Malana sure has.” Kagome turned around to find Malana and Momo were gone.
“I guess so!” she said with a smile and a laughed. InuYasha pulled her back against him and brought his arms around her waist.
“It's good to have you back, Kags…” he whispered and nuzzled her neck. She sighed and closed her eyes to focus on his caresses.
“It's good to be back…”
“InuYasha! Izayoi!” Miroku suddenly ran into the barrier and bounced back to fall flat on his back. Kagome laughed as Sango came up behind him and smacked the back of his head.
“You should run like that, monk!” she yelled and looked up at the two. She smiled and stood in front of Miroku. They blushed and jumped apart, turning away from each other. “Is Malana here?” she asked with the same smile on her face.
“N-no!” Kagome stuttered. Sango let out a scream and smack Miroku again.
“Feh! She was here just a little ago,” InuYasha added.
“Then could you stay here as watch out for her? Just in case she comes back.”
“Whatever…”Sango grabbed the back of Miroku's robs and dragged him off. Kagome blushed even deeper as he winked at her to be smacked by Sango again.
“Kagome?” She turned around to InuYasha and blushed even deeper.
“They thought that… Oh…My…” “H-hai?”
“You don't think they thought that we were… Did they!” he asked blushing too.
“I hope not!” As soon as she said that he looked disappointed. Did he love her that much? “I didn't mean like that, InuYasha!” She blushed even deeper if it was possible and turned around. “Oh, Kami! Oh, Kami! Oh, Kami!” she thought as she fidgeted with her kimono sleeve. She was suddenly pulled back into a warm embrace and a kiss was planted on top of her head.
“I love you, Kagome. I'd give up anything to have you back if something ver happened to you. I'd die for you. That's how much I love you. Do… Do you love me the same way?” She felt like crying. He really did love her that much.
“Of course. I'd never leave you. I came back after I did didn't ?” He laughed and pulled her tighter against him.
“You sure did. I was scared you'd never come back. But I was stupid to worry.” She turned around in his arms and smiled up at him.
“I know you're stupid, but you're still mine.” He frowned.
“I'm not stupid. I was just assaying that!”
“Are to!”
“I am not!” he said and tickled her side. She laughed and pulled out of his arms.
“Maybe not all the time… But you're still stupid!” she said walking circles around him. He let out a growl and grabbed at her, but she easily jumped out of the way.
“Why you, little bitch…” he said and huffed. She grinned as she continued to walk around him.
“Arigato!”
“It wasn't meant as a complement, baka!” She stopped, putting her hands on her hips, and glared at him.
“I was just kidding, you know! You don't have to be such a jerk about it… You aren't stupid, but you sure act like it sometimes.”
“And I was just calling you-“
“What inu demons call their mates! I'm so happy for you Lord InuYasha!” InuYasha froze as his face went red. He growled and pulled a certain flea out of hi hair.
“That's-“
“Exactly what you were going to say?” Myoga finished for him.
“No!” the hanyou yelled and squished the flea demon. He floated to the ground and puffed back to normal.
“Lady Izayoi! So you are Lord InuYasha's mate? Wonderful!” Kagome's face went red and she let out a nervous laugh.
“Stop it! She's isn't my mate! Miroku and Sango ditched us for Malana look out,” InuYasha said.
“I see… Where is young Malana?”
“Somewhere.” Kagome sighed and shook her head.
“This is going to be a long night…”
