Chapter 14: Rest In Pieces

Kouga slipped to the door and checked the perimeter. With little thought he opened the door and smiled. The others stepped in soundlessly as they had been trained.

"Come on Shippo left me a trail to follow when I got you."

The group nodded and followed Kouga who seemed to be following hidden hints. Evidently Shippo had hidden his scent as to not be discovered. The darkness was not even disturbed as they moved like the wind through the enemy's territory.

Shippo stopped at a door that was cracked and sniffed making sure that this was where Kagome was. He then stepped into the room to see Kagome towering over the bloody form of someone, the person was breathing but badly beaten. While in his thoughts at what had happened, Kagome had scented the air and spun around with a grand smile.

"Hey Shippo-chan!!"

Shippo looked from the beaten person to Kagome and smiled as she captured him in a big bear hug.

"Hey Kag-chan!! We have to go now. "

Shippo ushered her out the room and they stealthily speed through the halls. The others were in the same hall and due to their training neither heard the other and they all bumped into each other, literally. Kagome smiled from the bottom of the pile and giggled.

"Nice to know you all missed me."

The all grinned down on her and got up. They all decided that it would be best for them to leave the warehouse before they smothered her in attention. Kagome chuckled and nodded in acceptance. Kouga directed them back towards the door. Naraku prowled into Kagome's room hoping to be able to get the fiery beauty to mate with him now. Instead of what he expected he was met with that of the form of Kikyo on the floor. His eyes heated with anger and he moved to her side with a cat like grace. Pulling her up to eye level with his hand at her throat her snarled.

"Where is Kagome?! Why the hell are you here?!"

Kikyo winced at the harsh tone he used with her; he had never used such a tone with her. Her lungs burned as she tried to receive air as he crushed her neck.

"I…I sought to rid us of her Naraku…and she fought back."

She coughed, blood dripped from the left corner of her mouth and Naraku continued to look at her in disgust. His voice was acidic, slowly burning into her soul and mind, engraving each and every word into her heart.

"I don't know why I kept you around. You are such a stupid bitch. Fear not though my little Kikyo. I will end your pain as of now."

A brief feeling of relief washed over her form and she did not notice him bring his other hand to touch her neck, without so much as a sound Naraku slit her throat and dropped her to the ground carelessly, a nonchalant snort of enjoyment was set free from his lips and not even looking upon her form he left the room. Making his way out the room he spotted Kagura and Kanna.

"Kagura, Kanna there are intruders within our home. Get the rest of the gang. We shall deal with them now."

With that said he raced past them and out of sight. Kagura's mind raced.

`This is our chance! He will be destroyed and we set free!'

Kagura turned to her little sister to see her moving toward the rest of the gang. She quickly moved before her.

"Kanna, do you wish to be free of Naraku?"

For a moment life sparked into her lifeless eyes and her eyes widened, Kanna nodded. A large smile spread over Kagura's face and she kneeled down to Kanna.

"Then we must make sure that the gang is not able to aid Naraku."

Kanna nodded in understanding and they both turned heading toward those who were loyal to Naraku.

The group was almost at the door when a chuckle stopped them in their tracks and a barrier formed in front of them, blocking their exit. They turned slowly, in the shadows stood Naraku's figure.

"Going somewhere?"

Kagome and Sango were going to step forward but were pushed back by four protective males. Naraku's eyes shined in malicious glee.

"This is very good. I shall kill you all before them so they will come to me willingly."

The gang members howled in rage.

"You little traitorous bitches!! We will be sure Naraku has your heads after this!"

Fighting against Kagura and Kanna's seals that held them from going to Naraku's side, the members of Naraku's gang cursed and complained. Inuyasha slipped into Kagome's room and stood aghast at the dead body on the floor. Her dark hair was matted to her head and the blood around her form was beginning to clot. Blood still flowed freely from the wound on her neck. He could smell that Naraku was the one to deliver the killing blow on her and his soul boiled with animosity. Red covered the whites of his eyes and he darted out of the room.

`How dare he take Kikyo from me!'

Naraku was powerful. Already Shippo lay on his back with a large gash over his chest.

The wound had been bandaged already and he rested. Sesshoumaru was pushed back by yet again another powerful attack, Miroku was at his side a little clumsy from the pain that coursed through his veins. Kouga was behind them with Sango trying to tend to his wounds as she pleaded for Miroku to stop. Her pleas fell upon deaf ears; Miroku continued to throw everything he could into defeating the evil being. Naraku smirked superiorly.

"I will take them after you lose. They will live everyday knowing you died for them and that they will never ever escape me again."

Sesshoumaru growled menacingly and charged at him. Though before he could attack a sword thrust through Naraku's back. He gave a surprised cry of pain and spun around swiftly letting his tentacles pierce through the offending attackers. Everyone's eyes widened as they saw Inuyasha hanging from Naraku's tentacle. A twisted condescending smirk took form on Naraku's lips as he watched life seep from Inuyasha's eyes. Inuyasha cast his eyes to Kagome and grunted in pain.

"I'm sorry."

Naraku pulled his tentacle from his body and Inuyasha landed on the ground with a dull thump. Blood poured from his wounds, Naraku was not given the chance to fight back because as everything seemed to go in slow motion for Sesshoumaru and when his brother was dropped to the floor he snapped. Sesshoumaru slashed through the vile being with blood red eyes. Naraku let out haunting screams as poison from Sesshoumaru's claws melted into him until he was no more. All was quiet until they heard the soft footsteps of two demons within the area; the group tensed and readied themselves for the arrival of the demons. Kagome and Sango broke into tearful grins as Kagura and Kanna stepped into the doorway. The two smiled as well and raced to Sango and Kagome. Kagura cried into Sango's shoulder.

"We're free!"

"Yes you are."

Sango smiled and rocked back and forth to soothe her. Kanna sat in Kagome's lap and for the first time in her life, the child who seemed to have no emotion cried. A single glimmering tear fell from her eyes only to be joined by another a few seconds later. They left the warehouse quickly and called the cops sure that they would want to know where the remaining members of Naraku's gang were.
