InuYasha Fan Fiction ❯ Hawk ❯ Chapter 1

[ T - Teen: Not suitable for readers under 13 ]

Greetings all!

So I stumbled upon this one-shot in my jump drive, gathering dust. So, I built on it. My first Sess-Kag story! Hah! It's a little weird and it didn't turn out the way I wanted it exactly, but I think it has good potential.

Thank-you to all who have been supportive of me! I really appreciate it! (Insert emoticon here)

DISCLAIMER: Inuyasha own I don't.

Kagome Higurashi was struggling with her backpack - yet again.

Somehow, even though she'd quit her studies because of the hunt of Naraku and the jewel shards, her backpack was now bigger. She deduced that it was because of the fact that Inuyasha and Shippo had figured out that, without her textbooks, she'd have more room for food for them. Though, yes, she did love them both so much, she honestly hated the constant need for her mother to buy a bunch of junk food for them: not only was it heavy to carry, it was also putting a very large dent in her mother's credit card. She sighed. She hoped that maybe they both would eat it all quickly so that her bath supplies wouldn't weigh her down quite as much. Kagome did bring some heavy things, so some of her current back pain was her own fault.

But first things' first:

Get the fucking bag out of the well.

But how do you do such a thing when it's filled with God knows what, and a very petite seventeen year old girl is trying (and failing miserably) to push it out? The answer?

Get a very strong dog demon to help you.

"Need some help?" A humor-filled voice called above Kagome's head. Kagome looked up to suddenly find that the hideous yellow bag was gone and that her dog-eared friend was peering over the lip of the well with a very amused look on his face.

She glared at him, "Yes, please."

He laughed and pulled her out of the well. As she dusted herself off and got the dirt out of her hair, Inuyasha stared at her outfit.

"What are you wearing?" He asked.

Kagome looked down at her state of dress: a pair of blue jeans and a red turtleneck sweater that fit her perfectly. Kagome had decided to abandon the green school uniform, seeing as she was no longer going to school and the fact that almost every guy that they'd come in contact with and were allies with had seen her bright pink panties after a giant gust of wind blew her skirt up in their last battle.

Inuyasha, Miroku, Kouga, and Sesshomaru had all been working to kill a demon that was blocking their path. Somehow Kouga and Sesshomaru were traveling in the same direction as Inuyasha's group, and they all decided to work together… at least for now.

The demon was a very, very large turtle, and the battle proved to be slightly difficult due to its hard shell. However, Sesshomaru delivered the finishing blow (much to Inuyasha's dismay), and doing so caused a shockwave and a rather large gust of wind to blow up Kagome's skirt.

Miroku smiled, seemingly very, very happy at the sight.

Inuyasha had blushed, and proceeded to stare for at least two or three, or ten seconds before turning away.

Kouga had pretty much the same reaction as Miroku.

But Sesshomaru's reaction was the most appalling. His face turned to something Kagome didn't expect: a slight smile. It was the kind of smile you expected from your boyfriend or husband after making out, or (gulp) making love. It was the kind of smile that said, "You're adorable and I love you." Their eyes met and Kagome couldn't calm herself down: her heart sped and her breathing quickened. She felt that she wanted his arms around her, in a protective embrace.

During this whole incident, Kagome became more and more aware of the fact that there were four guys staring at her and of the fact that the wind seemed to blow for a cruel amount of time.

She was surprised that she couldn't put her skirt right, she was usually quite a pro at keeping her clothes in order whenever something like this happened. But no, it had to be today of all days, when they were battling the stupid turtle demon with FOUR GUYS and when she decided to wear those FREAKING EMBARRASSING PINK PANTIES!

By the time the wind stopped and the dust settled, the damage had been done; Kouga and Sesshomaru left quickly, both with a memory that they would always hold dear to them. Inuyasha and Miroku were staring at Kagome - the whole group was - and it was making her mad.

She grumbled, "What are we waiting for, let's go!"

She would never, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, be able to live this down.

Inuyasha continued to stare at Kagome's outfit, "Why are you wearing these jeans?"

Kagome gave him a stern look, "Because, Inuyasha, it's getting a bit colder and I wanted to be comfortable. Besides, I quit school anyway, so it's not really appropriate for me to wear that in the first place."

Inuyasha was still staring at the new garment with suspicion, "You've never worn those before when it was getting close to winter…"

Kagome gave him a crooked smile, letting him know that she knew what he was thinking, "Why are you so upset about my outfit?" She knew this was a stupid question, but it was worth it to see the horrified look on his face. Yes, she'd kissed him a while back -and yes, she did love him- but the love was more of a sibling-type love. She thought him as a brother rather than something more.

"N-Nothing! I-It's just new, that's all!" His face was red and he quickly changed the subject, "Come on, we still have a few hours of daylight, we can probably get pretty far if we hurry."

Kagome nodded and put her backpack on her shoulders.

Sesshomaru stared at Jaken and Rin as they sat by the fire. It was evening and he let the group set up camp for the night due to Rin's complaints and Jaken's annoying voice telling her to keep quiet… and to help calm his headache.

The demon lord's mind was plagued by thoughts of the human woman in his half-brother's faction. The memory of seeing that girl's… whatever they were; he remembered the shocking color they were and how red her face had gotten when she saw that he'd seen. There was a moment that had passed between the two of them, he was sure of it. He could hear her heart pound inside her chest, and her breath coming hard out of her mouth. And her scent - Oh! That wonderful, delicious scent…

This was driving him mad. He didn't know how to feel about this; he couldn't get her out of his mind. Clearly, this was significant somehow; but it couldn't be for the reason he thought. He shant believe it. Then he realized, with some hope, that she must be in the same situation as he. So she must be as confused as he was; she may not see him in that way either. No, he thought, she definitely wouldn't. Not after the way he'd treated the rest of his brother's faction. But after the look they'd shared with each other, there seemed to be some sort of attraction between them, even if it had been involuntary (somewhat, at least).

When Inuyasha had severely injured him with the Wind Scar (some time ago) and Tenseiga had protected his person, that the last thing he'd seen before he blacked out was Kagome's face. He couldn't help but notice how soft her skin looked and how her eyes were watered with worry as she stared at the scene before her. He'd hated that Inuyasha had worried the girl, that he'd put tears in her eyes; and he hated himself for being part of the reason she was sad.

He'd realized then that she had beautiful eyes. They were the color of the finest mahogany, polished until it could shine like crystal.

His little doe… How dare someone hurt his little doe?

That was what he'd thought right before he blacked out.

He thought of her becoming old and tired, probably with a quiet, decent man. He thought of her having three children and dying shortly after her husband, buried in some dry, unforgiving soil for years and years until she was dust. For a strange reason, his heart wrenched painfully at the idea; it both angered and saddened him greatly. Anger, because this human deserved so much more out of life for what she'd given up for it; sadness, because she was human and would never get as much as he got out of life.

Unless… she were to be with him…

Kagome sighed softly as she waded into the warm water. It had been a long day of traveling and the group had finally decided to rest. Kagome had wanted to bathe alone this evening, she wanted to think. Sango didn't seem to mind.

Kagome thought again of Sesshomaru. She thought of the look on his face when her skirt had flown up. It still freaked her out, but it was a nice change from the “I'm going to kill you slowly and watch your blood congeal into a filthy crimson mass, and then pleasure myself because murder, blood and deadliness are the kind of things that turn me on” type look he often had on his face. Kagome laughed at her vulgarity; but it was true, that's what he looked like all the time. Well, except since recently. She looked up at the moon and stars. She liked the feel of the cool air on her skin and the warm water lapping at her calves.

She bent down and dunked her head, wetting her hair. She flipped her hair back and straightened to continue staring at the moon.

Sesshomaru wasn't far off from her. He stayed in the shadows of the trees, awing at the pseudo-Celestial goddess before him. She now sat on a rock with a towel covering her, sorting through a pile of garments on the ground. When she'd flipped her hair back like that, the water droplets that flew away from her got caught in the moonlight for the briefest instant. Light had gone off in different directions, but they highlighted the girl's body most. He couldn't look away.

He chose this moment to make his appearance. When she saw him she yanked the towel to her neck and trembled. Sesshomaru immediately trapped her, placing his arms on either side of her and then began to nuzzle her neck.

“Hello, Kagome,” he murmured.

She trembled again, “Hello, Sesshomaru.”

Sesshomaru began to kiss her neck, delighting in the sound of her heart pounding and then becoming quite pleased when she mewled softly. “Mmm,” he murmured, “you smell quite lovely.”

Kagome was struggling with his armor and his boa. The armor was sticking her painfully and the fur of the boa was getting in her eyes, distracting her from the sensation of his tongue on her skin.

“Er, Sesshomaru?” Kagome questioned shyly.

“Hn?”

“Your armor is hurting me. A-And your boa thingy is in my face,” she stammered.

He quickly stripped to his silk robe, and then he slipped that off so that his chest was bare. Then he pinned her again.

Kagome cleared her throat, “S-So, I smell lovely?”

“Hn,” he said, descending on her neck again, “like the mountains after a soft rain.”

“That sounds nice,” Kagome said, trying to make conversation and to figure out what the hell this demon wanted with her neck. Not that his ministrations didn't feel good.

“Hn, it is.”

She pushed him up gently, her hand on his chest (she kept the towel in place with her other hand), she tried to look for any sign of a spell that had been cast on him, “Are you feeling well?”

“I assure you, Kagome, that I am quite well.”

“Then why are you kissing me?”

“I was kissing your neck, not you.”

“My neck is a part of me, and I'd like to know why you had your mouth on it.”

“It's where your scent is strongest; it seemed like a good place to start. You didn't like it?”

“No, it's not that. It felt good, but why? Why are you kissing me?”

“Because you deserve better than a human, or my brother. Also, because-”

“Do you love me?”

“I don't know. Do not interrupt me.”

“Sorry. But Sesshomaru, I don't think that… I can be with someone who doesn't love me.”

He tilted his head, “I never said I didn't love you, although I am certain that if I asked you the same question, you would have given me the same answer.”

Kagome considered this, “Well, that's true.” She looked up at him, “So then, why kiss me?”

“There was a moment some time ago when we looked at each other. There was something there, I felt it.”

She swallowed, “Are you talking about the turtle demon, or when Inuyasha hit you with the Wind Scar a few years ago?”

Sesshomaru thought for a second then he said, “Both, I suppose.”

Kagome sat up, “You remember that?”

“I remember feeling deeply hurt by the fact that both my brother and I had hurt you,” he said softly.

“How did you hurt me?” she asked, confused.

“I was the one that worried you, the one that put tears in your eyes.”

“Oh, well… I'm okay now,” she said, trying to offer some sort of comfort.

“Clearly,” he said, nodding. “Now, you mentioned something earlier about kissing you. May I continue?” His hand cupped the side of her face, his thumb stroking her cheekbone.

Kagome said, “Yes. We should just try, to see if we like i-”

His lips touched hers in a gentle kiss. The hand on her cheek moved behind to cup the back of her head. Kagome murmured softly and put her hands on his chest, feeling his shoulders lean into her. Gradually, the kiss escalated. Kagome's hands moved on his back, digging her nails into it and pulling him toward her. His skin was hot and smooth. Sesshomaru dipped his tongue inside her mouth and began to feel his way around it.

“Mmph!” Kagome gasped. Having never kissed someone in this way, it was very surprising to try for the first time. Getting the feel for it, she began to like the taste of his tongue. She tasted his mouth, tracing her tongue over his teeth, carefully around his fangs. Sesshomaru's other hand moved to her thigh. Though Kagome liked the feel of his hand there, she had to stop him. This wasn't the right time and place.

Sensing how she felt, Sesshomaru reluctantly pulled away and removed his hand from her thigh (he kept his other hand's position).

“Well, that was… nice,” Kagome said, panting. “You're good at… that.”

“You're talented yourself, Kagome,” he said, his eyes smiling at her.

There was an awkward pause; they just looked at each other.

“Um,” Kagome started, “I should be getting back to camp.” She looked up at him, “Can we meet again sometime?”

Sesshomaru nodded, “Certainly. Inuyasha will have to be out of the way, of course. He's probably not ready for our relationship just yet.”

“Relationship?” Kagome said, getting up and sorting her things out. “What are we to each other?”

Sesshomaru considered this, “Hn… I am not sure if there is a word for what we are, but what I would call ourselves is two young people exploring their feelings for one another.”

Kagome smiled to herself, “Kind of sounds like dating.”

Sesshomaru looked at her inquisitively, “Dating?”

“It what people where I'm from call courting, I guess would be a word you're familiar with.”

He didn't say anything in protest; he merely gathered his clothing and dressed. He let Kagome dress, turning his back to give her privacy. When she was decent in a deep blue night shirt, she told him he could face her. They stood within arms length of each other.

Sesshomaru said, “May I have something to remember you by, until our next meeting?”

“Um,” Kagome began (again; she felt so stupid), “what did you have in mind, exactly?”

He sped over to her pack, rummaging through it. He assumed that this was where she kept that strange article of clothing, seeing as her other clothes came from this pack. He saw a flash of bright pink and grinned devilishly. “Ah,” he said, straightening and holding them up, “these will do quite nicely.”

Kagome's eyes widened, “My panties? You want those panties? Why?”

Sesshomaru shrugged, an action that Kagome didn't expect, “They're a symbol of our intimacy, I suppose. No other man is allowed to see these.”

“Well, the rest of the guys in the group have seen those particular pair of panties, don't forget that, Sesshomaru,” Kagome said, putting her hands on her hips, smiling.

“Hn,” Sesshomaru said, leaning in for a kiss, “I'll disregard that part.”

“Okay,” Kagome said, meeting him halfway on her toes. His lips touched hers softly and briefly and then he sped away, leaving Kagome amused, confused, and warm.

“I can't believe I just gave my panties to Sesshomaru,” she sighed, gathering her things, once again making her giant yellow backpack a heavy deathtrap.

She smiled, `This can work.'

Finally! This one-shot is done. It's been in my jump drive for years!
