Chapter 2: The first Death

Now, two days later, Kagome had the courage to question her mother once more, caring little if Ms.Higurashi thought her as crazy. Walking into the kitchen, she inhaled deeply, savoring the scent of her mother's cooking. Getting serious, Kagome tapped her mother on the back. "M- Mom, remember at the hospital, when I asked about Inuyasha... did you forget him?" Ms. Higurashi knitted her eyebrows together. Her face softening, she put a hand on Kagome's shoulder, mindful that it was still sore. "Kagome... There was no Inuyasha." Kagome drew back, shouting, "No! He's real! I know he is!"
Ms. Higurashi sighed, "Kagome, I asked the doctor, he says it's possible that... that you imagened him while you were unconcious to keep yourself alive, like a subconcious program giving you a reason to live or something, that soon you'll forget it all." Kagome shouted once more, her voice hoarse from a year of silence. "NO! I don't WANT to forget! He's REAL! I know he is, I know! I LOVE him and I ALWAYS will! I'm not going to forget him like YOU did!" Ms.Higurashi winced at the harsh tone in Kagome's words as though she'd just been hit. Walking towards Kagome, Ms. Higurashi was surprised to see Kagome run to the door, then out towards the well house.
Fearing the worst, Ms. Higurashi followed Kagome, calling out her name, the reply coming back as, "NO! I refuse to accept that! He's REAL! He was sealed to the God Tree, I went down the well and saved him! I KNOW I did! I'm Kikyou's reincarnation!"
Ms. Higurashi stopped. "Kagome! Surely... surely you don't think you are the reincarnation of Kikyou the Priestess!" Kagome stopped, "So... you know who Kikyou is?" Ms. Higurashi spoke up, "Yes, a priestess who died hundreds of years ago. Kagome... what's the matter with you?" Kagome dropped to her knees. "With her last effort, Kikyou pinned a demon named Inuyasha to a tree, that tree," Kagome paused to point at the God Tree, "She had been decieved by a demon named Naraku into thinking Inuyasha had taken a sacred jewel, the Shikon No Tama, with great powers from her, and kept hate with her when she died. Hate and the Shikon Jewel! Inuyasha remained on that tree for fify years, until I freed him! Only I could do it cause I'm Kikyou's reincarnation! The Jewel burst from MY body! I accidently shattered it, and Inuyasha and I set out to find it! Don't you remember!?!"
Ms. Higurashi looked at her daughter in confusion, "Kikyou... she killed many demons, but never sealed them away. Kagome, it. was. all. a. dream. Now come inside." Kagome stood. "NO! I'll go to him!" Saying so, Kagome rushed to the well house, straight to the well. Ms. Higurashi panicked and chased her daughter, her heart sinking when she heard a splash. Running into the well she saw Kagome pulling herself out of the water of the well, tears mixing with the water. Ms. Higurashi could see fire in her eyes and watched as Kagome became more and more frenzied. She fell to the ground, leaning over the well, hitting the surface of the water, screaming, "NO! THIS ISN'T HOW IT GOES! THIS IS ALL WRONG! I HATE THIS! I NEED TO GO BACK! INUYASHA! INUYASHA!" Kagome broke down in sobs, still hitting the surface and calling out the name of a man who could be just a figment of her imagination.

At this time, five Hundred years in the past, a monk traveled alone, watching the village beauties in awe. "So many gorgeous women..." He drawled, his hand twitching. One of his hands was covered with cloth, beeds around it, appearing to serve the purpous of keeping something at bay, something sinister. As he left the town, the beads shattered, and a torrent of black wind shot forth from his palm. Wincing in pain he cried out as a dreadful realization dawned on him. His wind tunnel, a dreadful curse, had grown too strong for the prayer beads, and his life was ending. Fearing death, he couldn't help but feel comforted by the image of a young woman in slayers clothes smiling at him in joy, calling out his name as she ran towards him. His features becoming soft as the wind consumed him, he wondered who that woman was, just happy that she was there to comfort him.
