A/n: Okay, let me just elucidate the fact about the pairing in this story. It IS Kagome and InuYasha, but I don't want everything just be perfect because there is no perfection in hooking up with your son's fiance. Just be patient and you'll see true love prevail. Chapter 24: Love Hurts
InuYasha's P.O.V
"InuYasha?" Kagome said and her voice was like music to my ears. I knew coming here was a good idea.
"Kagome, I glad you're here. Can I come in?"
"No." Kagome said tightening her grip to the door. "Why are you here?"
"Glad you asked that I'm here to tell you that I'm sorry and I lo..."
"InuYasha, I don't think you being here is a good idea." Kagome said worriedly.
"Just hear me out, okay." I looked down to ground trying to find my words. It was hard actually, since the only time I said the "L" word was when I was 18 and that was when I was with Kikyo. Shit, it was hard then. I then looked up to Kagome's impatient face. "Oh, yeah..um...what I was trying to say was that I lo..."
"Baby who's at the door?"
My voice lost itself as I heard my son's voice coming from Kagome's house. I shook my head not believing that It couldn't be! Then my son came into view with nothing but his pants. Oh, it could be and it was. Then I looked over Kagome seeing that she was wearing his shirt and at that moment everything came clear to me.
"Dad, what are you doing here?!" Hojo said angrily. "Don't you have some type of job to be at and MY fiance isn't it!"
I looked to my son then I looked to Kagome "Kagome?"I looked to her trying to find a logical reason of this.
Please, please give me a logical reason. I pleaded to her in my mind because even though I knew what was the deal, I just wanted to be wrong for once. That maybe, just maybe, it wouldn't be. I was too old to be this naive.
"Um...InuYasha, we need to talk." She said and the look on her face made me feel...funny.
The sorry and pitiful look on Kagome's face just my heart kind of stop, literally. I held onto the wall clenching my chest.
My son rushed to my side even after his words earlier that cut through me like a knife, he was still MY son and I was still his dad
"You alright, dad?"
"I don't know, son. Just get me...a doctor." Then I collasped to the floor.
"Dad!"
"InuYasha!"
That was all I heard before my world went black.
I woke up to a blinding white scene and the prettiest pair of grayish- blue eyes belonging to a goddess with long ebony hair. "Am I in heaven?"
Kagome giggled lightly as she ran her hand along my jaw. "No, you're not. I'm just so glad you're alive."
"Alive?!" I held my head and groaned as I rose up on my shoulders realizing I was in a hospital room. "Damn, what happened?"
"You had a minor heartattack?"
My eyes widened at what I was hearing. I had a heartattck. Me? "I know I'm not that old." I said chuckling.
Kagome smiled genuinely showing a set of beautiful pearly whites. God she was beautiful, I had to have her. Then I realized why I had the heartattack, why I was laying in the hospital bed. After realizing this I was ready to go into cardio arrest. "Kagome, are you back with my son?"
Kagome looked away from me and nodded. I felt like dying. She then faced me again and gave me another beautiful smile. "I took your advice and reconcilated with him." Kagome said blushing after saying it.
Anger boiled in my veins, but I'd be damned if I was going to show it. "I..I thought that you couldn't possibly be with him." I said trying to sound as civilized as I could.
"Well, I did? Until I realized that you only get one chance to find someone that loves you as much as Hojo loves me and since you.....can't love me even though...well...I" Kagome said placing a hand on my thigh. "I loved you."
Loved?!
I could see the dispair in her eyes and I hurt me to know that I made her feel that way.
My heart clenched because I do love her, I probably loved her more than Hojo ever could. Age wasn't a factor here because she was everything I needed and more and all I had to do was tell her that. "Kagome, I lo..."
"Dad, you're awoke?" Hojo said walking into the room ruining everything.
"Um...yeah. No heartattack could keep me down." I said plastering on a fake smile.
Hojo smiled. "So, Has Kagome told you?"
"Yeah, Congratulations, son."
"Really, dad? No hard feelings?"
Yes, there are hard feelings. Feelings as hard as stone. "Of course not."
I knew Hojo wanted me and him to be how we were before the drama. For me to be happy with him marrying Kagome. It really was funny because before I approved his engagement. Hell, I was pretty impressed that Hojo could get such a catch. But now. Shit, now I wanted Kagome for myself and I know I amy sound like a little kid, but I guess love will do that to you.
"Dad?"
I snapped out of my thoughts and looked to my son's face. "Yeah, Hojo?"
"So, you approve of me and Kagome getting married next week."
"What?! Next week!"
Hojo placed a hand on Kagome's shoulder and I just wanted to rip it off. "Yeah, me and Kag decided we couldn't wait anymore."
I couldn't wait to just die. "Um...that's great son." I said with hurt clearly etched in my voice and I knew Kagome heard it and felt that hurt, but she wouldn't say anything.
God, Kagome say something.
"I'm glad you're giving us your blessing after all that happened." She said smiling.
That's not exactly what I wanted you to say, but if it is what you want then I'll give it to you.
"It's alright......Ms. Higurashi."
I decided the best way to get over this woman was to start over. Start from the beginning. Where I only knew her as Ms. Higurashi,my son's eighteen year old girlfriend and she knew me as his 36 year old father...Mr. Taisho.
"Well, dad. We better let you get some rest." Hojo said opening the hospital door. "Come on, Kag."
Kagome looked at me with warm-toned stormy eyes and I was just crushed to see her get up from the my bed and walk towards Hojo. When she got to the door she stopped and turned around with her hands fidgeting with the other.
Kagome looked down to the bedsheet then back at me and I could've sworn I saw a tear in her eye, but before I could clarify it she was gone. Out that door and I was left to realize the simple fact that I was....alone.
A/n: It ain't over yet. Next chapter I will rest on the fact of Kag and Inu and move right on to Sango and Miroku. Sorry.
