You have no idea how many e-mails I got from MM screaming at me!!! OHMIGOD WHAT DID YOU DO!!!! *Laughs again* well… I think I've definitely made a point there! But like I said earlier… that was only part one of the evil twist from hell!!! Good luck with this chapter guys! I almost cried writing it… *Sniffles*

Kagome's misty eyes fluttered open to a brightly lit and unfamiliar room; her mind slowly registering the faint steady beeping sound beside her and then the excruciating ache inside of her.

 

She groaned sitting up slowly in what she now realized was a rather uncomfortable hospital bed. `Oh gods… what did I get myself into!?'

 

“You-you're awake!?”

 

Kagome turned a surprised smile to the man that was sitting by her bedside. “InuYasha… what happened?”

 

The man began fidgeting with his fingers, “Kikyo shot you in the stomach… you've been out for about three days…”

 

The woman frowned… there was something wrong with him… she could just sense it. She winced, feeling the stitches through her thin hospital gown. “Jeeze... I feel like a complete moron… I shouldn't have let her inside…”

 

InuYasha stood up and kissed Kagome's forehead, wanting to embrace her tightly… but knowing he shouldn't and most importantly… couldn't. “Kagome… at least you're alive… you have no idea how worried I was. Please tell me you're alright… please…”

 

Kagome smile taking in the man's appearance. His normally silver and neat hair was now dull and sloppy and he looked as though he hadn't slept in exactly three whole days.

 

“I'm fine Yash… really I am…”

 

“That's good news, because now I know that I don't have to hold back on you Higurashi.”

 

The couple turned to face an extremely livid Sesshomaru… behind him were three cowering agents; Sango, Rin and Ayame.

 

Kagome swallowed, she had a very bad feeling about this…

 

“Kagome… I'm completely appalled with you! What the fuck were you thinking!?” The man roared, slamming the door behind him in a futile attempt to keep the conversation secret. “You're my top agent Higurashi! Do you have any idea how this makes me look as your boss!? Do you even have the slightest clue about how this is going to affect your job and my life!? Do you know what this could do to the League!?”

 

InuYasha stepped out in front of the bed. “This isn't her fault you cocky ass bastard! I was the one that did all this! And if you're going to blame anyone right now, you might as well blame me!”

 

“Oh don't worry Tategami! You'll get yours! You'll definitely get your shot in the limelight after I deal with Kagome! But right now-”

 

“No! You deal with me now! Kagome's still recovering from what happened, and dammit, I'm not going to let you scream at her in that condition! Understand you son of a bitch!? I don't give a fucking rat's ass if she is you're top agent! She's my fucking girlfriend and I'm gonna do everything I can to protect her from shit like you, until I can't move a fucking bone in my body! Get it!?”

 

Sesshomaru glared daggers into the huffing young man, a sickening taste beginning to form on the tip of his tongue. “You listen here… I do everything in my power to protect my agents from situations like this… from men like you, who suddenly think that their in love! You already have a fiancé Tategami, and I suggest you start getting to know her better because I will not allow you to see Kagome ever again!”

 

“My ass, I'm not afraid of you and Kikyo's not going to be seen around here for a long, long time.”

 

Sesshomaru smirked, “Oh but you're wrong… in fact… Kikyo's getting away with this.”

 

Kagome and InuYasha gasped. “WHAT!?”

 

“We aren't pressing charges against her…”

 

Rin tugged at Sesshomaru's arm. “Sessh, she almost killed Kagome…”

 

“I know that! But if we don't press charges, she won't spill about Heart Breakers to the media. I talked to her personally and all she's asking for is InuYasha.”

 

Kagome looked to the stunned man. “I'm not agreeing to that bullshit!”

 

“You don't have to. It's already been done. You are not allowed to see Kagome anymore, Mister Tategami… and Kagome…” His deadly gaze turned to his top agent. “I'll expect the same from you… and I'll see you at work.” The man turned and headed for the door.

 

InuYasha slammed his fist against a room wall and growled. “Sesshomaru! I already said that I wasn't afraid of you! And if you think that by just saying I'm forbidden to see the woman I love, that I'll listen… you are dead wrong! I'd go to the ends of the earth for her… and I'm not going to let someone who thinks he's `holier than thou' stand in my way of her! So you can do whatever the hell you want to try and stop me… but I'm warning you… I. Won't. Quit!”

 

Sesshomaru stopped with his hand on the metal knob and grinned. “Trust me InuYasha… you're only making my job easier by fighting…”

 

The group watched the self-satisfied boss leave the room, a tense silence filtering through as the door shut tight.

 

Sango bit her lower lip. “InuYasha… don't push Sessh… please don't make things worse than they already are… Kagome's life was threatened…”

 

“If Kikyo gets the chance to hurt her again… she will use it to her advantage.” Ayame frowned, walking over to the man and embracing him softly.

 

InuYasha glanced down at his silent Kagome… this couldn't be happening… how could this be happening? “InuYasha… I think I need a couple days to think about this… and it would help if… you weren't around…”

 

The shocked man pushed away from Ayame and held one of Kagome's hands. “Babe… you can't seriously be thinking…?” She looked away… wanting to cry…

 

InuYasha's expression turned dark. “Fine… whatever… see if I stand up for you ever again.”

 

“Yash…” She called pitifully from the bed as she helplessly watched him storm out of the room.

 

“Kagome let him go… he's got a lot to think about as well…” Rin smiled lightly.

 

But everybody knew that there was nothing to think about… everything was over… it was just over. InuYasha had no choice but to accept Kikyo and Kagome… Kagome just had to go on with her life… and forget him.

 

The girl finally broke down, cursing herself because of her foolishness… she loved InuYasha so much and she just let him walk out of her life without even trying to stop him.

 

“Why can't we just ME her!? Why can't Sessh just do that for me?”

 

“Kagome… if we ME Kikyo… Sesshomaru will do the same to InuYasha… whether you want him to or not…”

 

“Sango! I never even told him about Kikyo's plan!” She sobbed painfully, her friends all huddled together around the uncomfortable bed and holding the trembling woman. “He's going to be crushed… he's going to be stuck with her… and all I can do is wonder about what life could have been like!”

 

“Shhh… Kagome, sweety please… don't do this…” Sango whimpered, holding her best friend tighter now. “He'll be fine… this will all work out… we'll make it work… I promise I won't let Kikyo get him… we won't let her have him…” She smiled up at the other two agents who nodded.

 

It was a new mission… for their friend's happiness… they would bring InuYasha back into Kagome's life… whether it got them fired or not.

Life went on as normal as normal could possibly get… things back at the league had gotten pretty rowdy, rumors started spreading, associations began crumbling and Kagome still somehow managed to stay the top agent. She hadn't heard from InuYasha in almost two days… but her friends kept saying give it time… and he would eventually come back… what they didn't say to her however… was that when he did come back… he wouldn't be the same…

 

InuYasha strummed his guitar once more, slouching further into the black leather sofa in his living room. He had spilled his heart for that woman… and she was actually considering living life without him!? What a bunch of bull! His eyes closed, picturing that day in the ambulance… she was bleeding everywhere and it wouldn't stop… and for the first time in his life InuYasha had felt vulnerable… he watched the love of his life suffering that day… almost dying… and he couldn't do shit!

 

He ran his fingers through his hair, if he loved her… why was he here? Why wasn't he with her? Kissing her? Holding her? Why was he moping!? Dammit, if he loved her… he would find her… he would tell it to her! The man jumped up from the couch, grabbing his car keys and heading for the door.

 

“I've got to tell her… there's no way in hell that I'm going to live life not knowing…”

 

He sprinted down the flights of stairs that lead to the parking lot… rushing to his Mitsubishi and jerking open the driver's door…

 

It was then that somebody tapped his shoulder. “InuYasha Tategami?”

 

“Yeah?” The man suddenly received a painful blow to his head with what felt like a metal bat and fell to the asphalt; groaning and rolling as his body throbbed with the unfamiliar suffering… everything going numb as he felt two more crushes to his body.

 

“Dammit…” He growled, realizing that somebody was tossing him into the back seat of his own vehicle. His vision began to darken as he finally was able to see who had hit him… there were five of them… and one of them was driving his fucking car!?

 

“He's still conscious…” Spoke one of the muffled voices.

 

“Then hit him again…” The driver replied.

 

InuYasha's eyes widened, feeling another blow to his already splitting head… he had lasted this long… he wasn't going to give up… he wasn't going to be beaten… he couldn't die… hell… he wouldn't die… but he finally passed out.

Kagome fumbled around her purse, trying to get her heels on and answer her continuously ringing cell phone at the same time. “Yeah what?”

 

“Kagome, you need to get down here now!” It was Sango, and she sounded hysterical… almost terrified.

 

“Sango take a deep breath and calm down? What the hell is up?” Kagome asked, momentarily stopping what she was doing.

 

“K-kagome! I just saw Sessh and a few other agents carrying InuYasha down the hall! They took him to the seventh floor!” The woman cried out, shaking terribly.

 

Kagome froze… her heart stopping entirely as Sango choked out the last of her sentence. “Kag! They're going to ME Yash!”

InuYasha moaned opening his dark eyes and surveying the large empty, tiled white room he was in. “What the fuck…?”

 

“Welcome to the ME room InuYasha… I hope you find your stay here… quite enjoyable…” Sesshomaru smirked, entering the room with a large rolling tray.

 

InuYasha glanced down at the leather straps holing his arms and legs against the chair. “You bastard let me outta here!”

 

“In time… in time… patience is something I normally lack as well my friend… but today… I want to make sure things go perfectly…”

“Dammit!” Kagome shouted, pushing the gas pedal as she ran a red light, nearly colliding with a semi. “Get outta my way jack ass!”

He walks her home…

The days they turn into years…
The eyes they drown in tears…
Can you hear me scream?

 

InuYasha's furious eyes intently focused on the silver tray… following the movements of Sesshomaru's hands as they picked up a giant syringe.

 

“Oh trust me… this will only hurt for a second…” Sesshomaru grinned wickedly, allowing some of the liquid drip from the point.

 

“I'm not afraid of you.” InuYasha growled dangerously. “Whatever you do to me, Kagome will-”

 

“You should be InuYasha… this needle holds some of the strongest doses of our mind erasing formula… in about five minutes… you won't even remember who Kagome is…”

“You really shouldn't take this too personally InuYasha… but I can't have you fooling around with my agents. After all, I know your dirty… little… secret…” Sesshomaru paused, staring InuYasha amusingly in the eyes… for once amber meeting burning amber…

 

“And I don't mean Kagome…”

 

InuYasha cried out as Sesshomaru jabbed the needle harshly into his right arm, injecting the serum into his blood stream.

 

The man's eyes crushed shut, breaking away his left arm from the leather straps and grabbing Sesshomaru by the neck. “You bastard… I won't forget… I won't forget her… I love her you fucking son of a bitch!” he growled menacingly throwing Sesshomaru to the floor and ripping out the need from his arm.

Kagome parked her car quickly, not even turning off the engine as she broke out of the vehicle, sprinting to the steps of headquarters; where she froze… InuYasha was walking out of the building.

 

Kagome swallowed hopefully, doing the only thing she could think of to find out the truth… she began walking towards him…

 

They drew nearer and nearer… her heart pounding… her brain refusing to accept anything negative… she closed her eyes bumping into the man and dropping her purse to the concrete.

 

InuYasha bent down to pick up the bag and handed it to her… a single warm tear sliding down Kagome's soft face as he said to her…

 

“I'm sorry Miss…”

 

And he continued walking on… getting into his car and driving away.

Kagome dropped to her knees, her body frozen… her mind blank… her soul shattered… InuYasha had forgotten about her… he had no idea who she was… and he had no idea that she still loved him… he had no idea that they loved each other.

InuYasha stopped his car in the parking lot of the Tokyo theatre, listening to the radio station play the last piano key of the song before the DJ came back on.

 

“And that Tokyo was Time Stands Still… the number one song in Japan and sung by none other than Sinful remedy, once known as the garage band IKSMA EEDBR-”

 

He inhaled deeply, running his fingers between his gorgeous silver bangs… murmuring the one name that for some reason, kept tugging furiously at his mind…

 

“Kagome…”
