You all don’t love me any more *Sobs* kidding anyway here’s 36 thought I’d start off a bit differently. And also there will be a racist word cuz well . . . you probably figured it out. Also I used the one word and this is also my idea on what it takes to get a license for marriage.
Chapter 36
The last few days of Rin’s life had definitely taken an odd twist. Normally the time she spent with her fathers was enjoyable and light, yet after the day of the sonogram Sesshomaru had taken to giving her the cold shoulder. It wasn’t her fault that Isayu had taught her how to make the sedative Seiya had asked her to make, but it was her fault for telling the man she knew how to make it. According to her mentor, the sedative was too only be used in extreme circumstances, and when she was asked to make it, she decided that her teacher would understand why she had to make it.
The morning of that day had started out as normally as possible. Rin had woken up earlier than normal, due to the fact that she had one of the dogs in her bed. She couldn’t put her finger on it, but the two dogs that lived with her great-grandfather reminded her of people she knew. But, she didn’t care about the dogs since they were nice to everybody and never caused any problems. Kicking the dog out of the room, Rin got out of her bed clothes and into her day clothes before sitting at the desk near her window and began tinkering with a broken digital clock.
For some reason, Rin liked machines as much as much as she liked taking care of people and animals. She didn’t really understand computers yet, but she was learning. Each time she had been given a new device to tinker with, Rin always had somebody print off the mechanics of it and how to fix it. The family was happy to give her the information, so long as she didn’t kill herself by plugging in the device while the wires and every thing were uncovered, along with wearing rubber gloves as a safety precaution.
When she’d finally found the problem, Rin put the clock away and stretched a bit as she heard a car start outside. She liked cars and was impressed at how quickly a person could get around, as long as the roads were clear. She’d traveled with her parents during what her papa called “rush hour,” and decided that she was never going to drive unless it was absolutely necessary.
Looking in the windows of the car, Rin saw Seiya and Cousin Sara driving away laughing happily. She was a bit confused why her papa had left so early in the morning, especially with the condition her father was in. Leaving her room, the girl headed down into the kitchen and put some water into a kettle and started to boil it when she realized she’d forgotten something important in her room.
Shutting off the stove, Rin headed up to her room and began to search through her dresser. Not finding the jar hidden between her clothes, Rin found it sitting next to a picture of her and her dads. She like this picture the most since it was one of them at the beach with her and the Higurashi family, save for Grandpa of course. Only problems with the picture laid in the fact that Sesshomaru had his trademark glare on while Seiya was oblivious to the fact that he was being photographed while Rin pulled on the demon’s cheeks trying to make his face look goofy. After it was taken though, Rin kept her distance from the demon out of fear for her life.
Smiling at the picture, Rin headed back downstairs and reset the water and poured herself some cereal. She loved the food that she’d grown up eating and could live off it the rest of her life, but after tasting the foods of the future, she knew that she would never be able to go back to her old way of eating. Sitting down at the counter, Rin munched on her cereal while waiting for the water to boil.
Gulping down her milk, Rin heard the familiar clunking noise, signaling the footsteps of her great-grandpa entering the kitchen. Looking at the door she said, “Morning Grandfather, did you sleep all right?” Smiling the old man poured himself some juice and sat down next to the girl and drank deeply from the glass before letting out a satisfying sigh. Smiling at the old mans lack of yawning, Rin took it as a sign that the old man had slept comfortably.
Smiling at the girl, Gerald said happily, “I did my dear. But, I’m old and my joints are aching a bit. Despite that I’m as fit as a man half my age, one who takes care of himself of course.” Giggling, Rin sat at the counter for a moment before hearing the kettle whistle. Getting up, Gerald beat the girl to the stove and started to put some tea bags into it when Rin snatched it away from him. Shocked at the girls actions, the older man asked, “Didn’t those two teach you manners?”
Feeling embarrassed about what she had done, Rin grabbed a mug from a cupboard and set it on one of the mates that was sitting on the counter. Opening the jar, Rin put a couple scoops of an odd powder into the porcelain goblet. Watching curiously, Gerald asked why she was doing that to which the girl replied, “My teacher gave this powder to me to give to Father. It’s used to keep Father in good health and the only people who know how to make it is myself and my teacher, Isayu.”
Watching her add pour in the water, Gerald was a bit confused as to why Sesshomaru would need herbal supplements to stay healthy. From his knowledge, demons rarely got sick, and when they did it was something that would be a fatal illness that plauged them. Watching his great-granddaughter finish mixing the odd drink, Gerald was shocked at the pleasant smell rising from it. Smiling at the girl, Gerald asked, “Rin is it possible for this old man to get some of that. Maybe it’ll help keep my joints from aching in the morning, what do you think?”
Putting the spoon in the sink, Rin closed her jar and said, “Sorry Great-Grandfather, this is something only given to demons when they are in the condition father is in.” Narrowing his gaze, Gerald watched the girl head over to the door before asking why Sesshomaru was the only one allowed to drink it. Not even bothering censoring herself, Rin turned around with a big smile on her face as she said, “Father is carrying a baby!”
Opening her eyes in shock, Rin saw a look of complete disarray pass over the old man’s face at what she had just let slip from her mouth Blushing a deep crimson, the girl headed upstairs so quickly that she nearly knocked Robert and Jiro down the stairs as she made her way to her parents room. Knocking loudly, Rin was glad to hear the demon lords voice say, “Come in, Rin.” Opening it carefully, Rin stepped into the room, shut the door, and went over to the bed to give the demon his morning tea.
Taking it gratefully, Sesshomaru took a couple of sips as he read a note. The look on her father’s face told Rin that he was a bit mad about something Seiya had done. Sitting down next to him, Rin read the note to find that her papa had gone with Sara to ask her help in taking care of the baby until it was ready to be born. Afraid about breaking the news to her father, Rin was about to head out of the room when Sesshomaru asked, “Rin, what did you just do?”
Stopping in her tracks, Rin dropped her head and said quietly, “I told Great-Grandfather that you were going to have a baby.” Fearing the worst, Rin said hastily, “I didn’t mean too though! He just wanted to have some of your tea, but when I told him that it was only for you to drink he asked why it was only for you and I told him.” Turning around the girl said, “Please don’t be angry with me.”
Raising a hand, Sesshomaru was glad to see that the girl had stopped her begging for giving away private information. Looking over at her, he kept his face like chiseled marble as he said, “Do not worry about it. He was going to learn about it soon enough, next times just be sure you don’t answer a question about why I am the only one allowed specific remedies.” Smiling, Rin had headed back downstairs to find Robert and Jiro explaining to the old man and Valerie as to how Sesshomaru was carrying a child.
A few hours later though, Rin was sitting on the steps grinding some plants in a stone basin before putting them in a pot of boiling water that she had set on a hotplate. She was surprised to find all the required plants within thirty meters of the houses perimeter, well she had half of them in her suitcase since she had to bring certain herbs and plants to make remedies for Sesshomaru should anything happen. She only needed three plants to finish the potion, two were in the garden while one was a leaf from a fern in the woods.
When they were mixed together, Rin put the paste into the water and waited for it to form a somewhat viscous paste. Pouring it into the bowl, Rin was glad surprised to see Jessy coming from around the back of the house carrying some darts and a weird shaped gun. When he stopped in front the girl, Jessy found the liquid and began filling the darts with the liquid while Rin drilled him on the purpose of the weapon.
Putting a dart in the weapon, Jessy smiled at her saying, “It’s a dart gun Rin. What happens is that this dart injects the liquid into the target upon contact. Don’t worry though about your father though, I’m sure a shot to the shoulder or neck won’t do anything to him as long as he doesn’t fall on his stomach.” Gulping loudly, Rin followed the priest upstairs where she was forced to wait outside the room while her father got examined.
After Jessy and Sara kicked the rest of the family out of the hallway, Rin headed into the room where she found her Seiya staring at a weird piece of paper. Going up to the human, Rin asked what he was looking at and what the weird shaped object in the center was. Holding it up to the light, Seiya pointed at the oval shaped image saying, “That right there is the baby. Here’s the head, arms, and legs, we don’t know the sex yet but your father was thinking it’s a girl.” Shouting at the prospect of having a little sister, Rin hugged her the human before heading downstairs out of excitement, and being punished by Sesshomaru.
Now four days later, Rin was getting back on Sesshomaru’s good side since the demon was allowing her to accompany them into town for a couple of hours. She didn’t know why they were going, from what she could gather it was important for them to get into town as quickly as possible for some piece of paper. She could have cared less about what they had to get so long as she got to spend time with her parents.
Coming down the stairs she asked, “Where are we going today Papa? You and Father still haven’t told me why and I’m getting a bit nervous about going if you won’t tell me.” She was a little mad that Seiya was laughing at her question and saying that it was nothing bad. All she had to know was that he and Sesshomaru were going to get something that would make life a bit happier for them. Huffing loudly, Rin allowed herself to be sent outside where she found Robert and the rest of the adults sitting outside glaring at a car.
Looking around she could see that Jessy and Sara had left in one of the cars while the adults had taken to eating some lunch on the porch only to be stopped by the arrival of an expensive looking car. Walking over to Michelle she asked, “Grandma what’s the matter with everybody?” Shushing the girl, Michelle took her around the back as the door opened. Realizing it was best to keep quiet Rin stayed with Michelle and Yari as they heard a woman ask something about why she and Michelle had gone around back.
As Rin and Michelle sat on the back porch, Robert say in a dark, “Because they are better off not having the image of your fiendish face etched into their minds.” Looking in the direction of the voice, the old woman smiled at the sight of the Japanese male. Sneering at her Robert said, “Don’t give me that look. You have a lot of gall appearing before this family after the shit you pulled with trying to get my wife to leave my son and me.”
Flashing her toothy grin, the old woman said, “So nice to see you again, Robert. I didn’t realize that we still allowed people of your type around our family since you took our daughter away and helped create that half gook brat of yours.” Feeling his anger boil over, Robert began to charge the woman only to be stopped by Jiro. Shouting curses at his brother, Robert had to be full nelsoned in order to keep him in check while the woman laughed.
Stepping forward Gerald said, “Honestly Priscilla can’t you be less of a cunt about this?” Fuming, the woman gave her husband a look that would scare death. Yet Gerald was unafraid, he’d been through this rodeo time and time again. She would fume about the children, they’d argue and she’d leave. Although this time she was going too far by insulting them in front of him. He had reached his limit and was prepared to do something he should have done after his wife had disowned their daughters.
He was about to do it when the woman said, “How dare you insult me with such a disgusting word! I’m still matriarch of this family so don’t you even try to . . . ” but she was cut off by a sharp slap to the face. Falling to the ground the old woman clutched her face as her husband stood over her with look of pure rage. Getting to her feet the woman said, “You bastard! How dare you hit me?! I’m still your wife and a member of this house!”
Dropping his fist Gerald glowered at the woman as he shouted, “GET THE HELL OUT OF HERE! THEY ARE NO LONGER YOUR FAMILY AFTER WHAT YOU’VE DONE YOU SELFISH WITCH!” He could see the shock in his wife’s eyes as he screamed at her. Reaching into his pocket, the head of the Constantine family tossed a few pieces of paper on the ground as he said, “I’ve already signed these. Just remember that we leave this marriage with what is in our names, which for you means only your money, clothes, and that car you have that young man driving. Now if you’re through defiling this property, I suggest you sign those and leave.”
Turning, Gerald could see Seiya and Sesshomaru watching quietly as the woman signed what Seiya could only figure to be divorce papers. Sesshomaru had no clue as to what had happened since it was all said in English. All he knew was that the woman was the cause of all the anger he was sensing. Looking down, he saw the old woman put her signature on some documents before staring up at the two men. The look she was given them told Sesshomaru everything. This woman was the cause of the suffering that hastened the death of his mother’s mate.
He wanted to strike her down, but she did nothing to would make his attack justified. Without a legitimate reason to kill her or at least cause her grief. That was until he felt Seiya’s hand on his chin, turning his head and kissing him just as the woman stared up at her husband. As they kissed, the couple could feel the disgust emanating from the woman’s body as she through the papers down and headed to the car. Pulling back, Seiya said, “At least we did something to fuck up her life even more, because now that she’s divorced she doesn’t get anything that belongs to Gramps.”
Although none of the older people on the porch paid attention, they knew what the two had done to put a bee in the woman’s bonnet. Gerald made such a comment as he bent down to gather the papers as the car sped off the property. Dusting it off a little, Gerald smiled happily saying, “At least we don’t have to deal with her anymore. Had I done that awhile ago maybe Anna would still be alive, what do you say Rob?” Getting from his chair, Robert nodded his agreement before heading around back to get Michelle and the children.
When they were back around front, Robert was holding them tightly out of fear of losing them. Seiya could hear Michelle whispering some words of comfort while Valerie checked to see if her father was okay. Heading to his dad, Seiya gave him and the rest of his family a tight hug before asking, “You sure you’re okay?” Wiping a tear from his eye, Robert smiled and said he was fine as he headed into the house while Michelle sat down to talk to Jiro.
Sighing heavily, Seiya looked to his stepmother saying, “Michelle, I’m gonna take these two into the city for a while, okay?” Giving him her sweet smile, Michelle placed Yari in the arms of her son for a hug goodbye. Patting his brother and giving him a light kiss on the head, Seiya was surprised to feel Sesshomaru take the child from her arms and gave him a soft hug as well. Rin was next to hug him before giving him back to his mother.
Saying goodbye to the other three, the now mainstream type family, headed off into town with Rin asking a thousand questions as they went. Keeping quiet about the purpose of their trip, the two men gave her the vaguest possible answers to her questions. Even though he was giving his daughter answers to questions about why they were heading into the main city, Sesshomaru wanted to know why a piece of paper was needed for them to get married.
As far as his knowledge went, marriage in his time involved two people sitting before a priest, being blessed and sealing it with vows and a kiss. According to his mate though, in the future a license was required for the marriage to be recognized by the government. Only thing that confused him was that Seiya had told him a marriage was as strong as the people who were involved. So, in Sesshomaru’s mind, needing a slip of paper to say they were married was the most ridiculous thing he’d ever heard in his life. But, he was willing to go through with it so long as Seiya was happy.
In fact he’d come to realize that he’d given up a lot over the past year for his mate. Too much by what he could tell from his mate’s actions recently. Other than their argument over Sesshomaru training, Seiya had allowed the demon the right to do what he wanted, even though there was no reason. The trust they had in each other was strong enough so that they didn’t need to worry about what the other was doing since their bond granted them the ability to feel if the other was lying or in danger. And after Seiya’s drinking escapade, the bond was used to a rather disgusting extent. All that aside, Sesshomaru knew that Seiya was trying to let him salvage some of his pride by giving him free reign.
To the demon it did feel liberating to not have his mate hanging all over him, but he didn’t like the human feeling guilty about loving him. Sesshomaru had decided to discuss his mate’s problems later that night since he didn’t like bringing Rin into their personal problems. Looking over his shoulder, Sesshomaru found the girl reading another book on some sort of device that she had taken to dismantling. He was proud of her, there was no doubt and he knew Seiya was proud of her too. He didn’t understand machines, nor did he care to learn anything beyond how to run them, so he left all that to Rin and his mate.
Pulling into a parking spot, Seiya had to shout in order to the spell that was cast over her by the book. Laughing at her reaction, Seiya was quickly shut up by the girl smacking his head with her book shouting, “That’s not funny, Papa!” Watching them fight for a moment, Sesshomaru got out of the car and waited for his humans to stop acting like pups and exit the machine. He didn’t know what the building they had stopped in front of was called, but by the looks of the outside, it held some significance.
The archways housed statues of what the demon figured were of people that had some sort of power during their lives. Also there were hundreds of people in suits running in and out of the building, along with people dressed in robes of black. He figured that the ones in robes were of greater importance since people stopped and greeted them properly. Feeling the doors open and close, Sesshomaru heard Seiya say happily, “Thank the lord that Dad got a couple of English copies made.”
Feeling Rin grab his hand, Sesshomaru followed behind his mate as they made their way up the steep stairwell to a giant door. Giving his mate a moment to rest, Sesshomaru and Rin quickly followed them inside where a couple of people were sitting at a large desk answering phones. Stepping up to it, Seiya smiled politely and asked, “Where do we go to have a marriage license written up?”
Smiling back, the lady typed something into the computer and gave them directions. Apparently they were to go to the third floor and it was only a couple of doors to the left. Thanking her, Seiya gave the directions to his family and followed the ecstatic young girl to the elevator. Luckily for them, Rin didn’t know a lick of English, save for a few words of politeness. Wrapping his arm around his mate’s neck, Seiya said, “Good thing she doesn’t know how to read these signs.” Grunting Sesshomaru waited silently as they entered the contraption and made their way to the third floor.
Once there, Sesshomaru led the way toward the office where they found only a few couples waiting to have a license drafted. Taking a seat, Seiya noticed the eyes gazing at him and his companions. He knew why they were staring, since well they were the only people with two males in the group rather than a man and a woman, but only if you excluded Rin. Looking to Sesshomaru he said, “I guess we’re going to be a topic of discussion when these people get home tonight.”
Leaning back in his chair, Sesshomaru closed his eyes saying, “I do not give a damn about what they are going to say about us. I just want to get this paper so we can go back to the house and I can rest.” Taking the demons hand in his own, Seiya watched Rin flip through some magazines in an attempt to figure out what they said.
The small group of people in the waiting room thinned out slowly over the next hour, each couple was different, which meant that it took awhile for background checks to be done if you didn’t have the appropriate paper work. Lucky for Seiya, he’d had Robert print off some copies in English since it’d be damn near impossible to get in a license with Japanese forms.
Finally a short man came to the door asking for them to come in. Getting up from his seat, Seiya told Rin to stay there while he and Sesshomaru went in to talk with the man. Giving her papa a nod, Rin went back to her attempted reading while Sesshomaru and Seiya took their seats as the old man asked, “So I take it you two are here for a marriage license, since well that’s what this office’s main purpose is.”
Looking at the man, Seiya said, “Yes we want to get married. I have all our paperwork if you need it.” Taking all the materials, the man began searching through the computer for validation of their identities. As he did this Seiya looked over to Sesshomaru and asked, “This may take awhile.” Not saying anything, Sesshomaru just watched the old man type. Grabbing his mate’s hand, Seiya rubbed one of his knuckles asking, “Are you okay?”
Grunting, Sesshomaru said, “I’m tired, Seiya. I just want to go back to the house and rest for a little while.” Smiling Seiya, sat patiently as the old man let out a loud sigh at completing his validation. Looking up at them, he apologized for taking so long in getting done with their information. Apparently the network had slowed down, along with it taking forever to find Sesshomaru’s information, but after finding it everything had fallen into place.
Reaching into a cabinet the old man sat back down, looked at Sesshomaru and said, “Sir, I’m going to need you to sign this.” When he didn’t receive an answer, the old man looked to Seiya saying, “I apologize for asking this, but is his hearing all right?” Nodding, Seiya explained that Sesshomaru only spoke Japanese. Apologizing again, the man watched as Seiya told Sesshomaru that he needed to sign the paper in front of him for government purposes.
Glancing down, Sesshomaru looked as Seiya explained what each line was for. Putting his signature on the lines, Sesshomaru went back to staring out the window as Seiya signed his own name in English. Handing it back to the man, Seiya watched as the old man gave him two pieces of paper saying, “This one on top is for you to sign after your marriage. It’s the government copy of the license and tells us if either one of you changed your name, while the bottom one is for personal reasons.”
Taking the papers, Seiya put them in the folder he’d carried in before shaking the mans hand and thanking him. Doing the same, Sesshomaru exited the room first and headed straight to the hallway while Rin tried to see what Seiya was carrying. Keeping it hidden from her sight, Seiya looked to the girl saying, “Rin, you aren’t allowed to see it because it ruins the surprise and after what you told Grandpa about the baby, you aren’t allowed to know any secrets for a while.”
Huffing loudly, Rin stomped away saying, “It was an accident, so stop blaming me for letting him know something you were going to tell him anyway.” Reaching the elevator, the two found Sesshomaru looking like he was ready to collapse from exhaustion. Once on the floor, Seiya helped his mate to the car, making sure he was set comfortably, the human made the way back to the house where he discovered Jessy and Sara were back from whatever they had gone to do that morning.
Helping Sesshomaru into the house, Seiya called for Saras help in making sure he was okay after he set his mate on the bed. Not wanting his mate to see him like this, Sesshomaru allowed Sara to kick Seiya out so she could check to make sure that nothing was wrong. Shoving her cousin out the door, Sara said calmly, “I need you to head downstairs and leave me alone with him.” Giving his cousin a rather appalled look, Seiya asked why he wasn’t allowed to be with his mate. Smirking, Sara pinched his cheek saying, “Because, if I’m to take care of him and that baby I need to show that I’m not afraid to deal with him on my own. So if you’ll kindly excuse me.” And without another word she locked the door and headed back over to the bed where Sesshomaru was dozing uneasily.
Stepping into the bathroom, Sara cleaned herself up before heading back out to the room to sit next to the bed and prepared all her equipment. Staring at her, the demon growled a bit before asking, “Where is Seiya?” Smirking, the girl began to put the arm pressure gauge on the demon when out of nowhere he jerked back and hissed, “Where is my mate?” Grabbing his arm, Sara wrapped it around his upper arm and began taking his pressure.
As she began pushing air into the device, the doctor looked up at the demon, saying in a stern voice “He’s downstairs with Jessy. So if you will sit still and be quiet I can check you and the baby.” But, that didn’t go over to well as Sesshomaru ripped the thing off his arm and began to head out the door. Jumping to her feet, Sara ran over to the door and blocked the demon’s exit with a defiant look on her face.
Growling, Sesshomaru raised his hand saying, “If you do not remove yourself from my path, I will kill you here and now.” Normally this would work on a coward or one with a weak sense of resolve. Problem was that the girl was related to his mate, which to the demon meant that even if he were to hold his sword at her throat the girl wouldn’t move.
Dropping his hand the demon said, “Fine, if it will allow me to go to Seiya I will permit you to examine me you stubborn wench.” As he headed back to the bed, Sesshomaru could feel the aura of victory emit from the girl as she followed behind the pissed off demon. He knew why she was grinning though, and it was because his face showed just how sapped of energy he was.
Once he was back on the bed, Sara reinitiated her original plans and began examination. From what she knew of demon anatomy his temperature was okay, it was an even eighty-eight degrees which was average according to Jessy. Good thing her brother had his little I-pod with information on most demon races or else she’d be lost. Checking his BP and heart rate, Sara couldn’t see anything physically wrong with the demon so she had to ask, “You’ve been over exerting yourself with those workouts, haven’t you?”
Keeping silent, Sesshomaru just stared out the window as the girl sighed saying, “I can’t believe my cousin let’s you do this. But, since I’m responsible for yours and that baby’s health, you aren’t allowed to do any workouts that last over an hour.” She could hear the demon growl loudly at her telling him what to do, she just shrugged and said, “It’s not my fault you’re so caught up with remaining strong. Granted it’s good for you to exercise to keep yourself and the baby in good health, but with what you’ve been doing you could cause an early labor and kill yourself and the baby. So, I suggest five days of relaxation and monitored exercise routines by me. You got a problem with that you can take it up with . . . ”
She was cut off by the demons hand gripping her throat, gasping loudly Sara tried to squeak out a cry for help as she saw the red in the demons eyes surface as he hissed, “You are lucky that you are Seiya’s family and he loves you or else I’d kill you right here. Now get out of here and let my mate back in here.”
Falling to the floor, Sara coughed loudly but smirked as she headed down to the living room. She’d survived a whole half hour alone with the demon so she could complete his physical. She had to admit that Seiya sure knew how to get a person to change their ways. If it were anybody else, she was certain that the demon would have killed her.
When she reached the living room, Sara saw her brother and cousin clasp hands as Sei said, “Thanks man.” Climbing over the couch, Sara flopped down next to her brother and began to pester the two about why the male bonding was going on. Stretching his leg Seiya said happily, “Jessy has agreed to marry me and Sesshomaru. Which reminds me what happened to him?”
Squealing happily, Sara hugged her brother and said, “I knew you’d help them out. You’re such a cute brother, aren’t you?” Shoving his sister away, Jessy rubbed his cheeks as his sister had stretched them to an annoying length while telling his sister to give their cousin an update on his mate. Smacking his arm, Sara called him a pansy before looking to her cousin and saying, “He’s fine, but I’ve told him that he’s to relax for a week and to cut his workouts short. You shouldn’t let him over exert himself like he has been. That kid is sucking up his strength at extreme levels and he needs to take it easier or else next time something worse a whole lot worse than some light headiness may happen.”
Taking the words to heart, Seiya headed up the stairs and into their room where he found Sesshomaru sleeping peacefully. Sitting next to the demon, the man placed his mate’s head on his shoulder and began brushing his fingers through the soft hair when Sesshomaru said, “Do not worry about the sacrifices I make for you. My pride is not damaged, so do not fret over such petty things. I remained with you because I love you and have placed all my pride in you and what we have created. And as you humans say, to hell with those bastards, the council is of no concern to me any more lest they attempt to harm you.”
Kissing his mate’s head Seiya said, “You know me too well, Sessh. Sorry for thinking that way, but allow me to sacrifice for you every now and then and don’t take on the burden of protecting me all the time, it’s my job as your mate to protect you as well so let me help you when I feel the need.” Not saying anything, Sesshomaru fell back into his sleep while Seiya stroked his cheek and let the demon sleep in his protective grasp.
A few days later, Sesshomaru was still under the hawk like gaze of Sara as he took care of Yari for a couple of hours. The child took to him easily, Sesshomaru thought it was because his body had taken to giving off the smell of a mother. Besides, he felt that taken care of his mate’s brother would help the demon develop more efficient maternal abilities, so long as it was a quiet and easy to please one as Yari. After changing the child, a task he despised and only just recently got correct, Seiya came into his parent’s room and gagged at the smell. Looking at his mate and brother he asked, “How the hell can you stand that stench when a few weeks ago you puked at the smell of a candle?”
Grunting, Sesshomaru put the baby in the crip and said, “My nose has finally decided to calm down and let me have some peace.” Not saying anything, Seiya grabbed the receiving end of the monitor as he walked down the stairs and out to the pool with his mate. Seiya didn’t swim, and Sesshomaru didn’t say anything, all they did was listen to the trees rustle in a light breeze as they read in each other’s company, before turning around at the sound of footsteps.
Looking over his shoulder, Seiya saw his dad heading toward them. Letting out a greeting, the human was sunrise that his father didn’t say anything back and just continued walking toward them. Scanning his dad’s body, Seiya saw that he was holding a slip of paper and had a small smirk on his face. Before he could say anything though, Robert had shoved their unsigned marriage certificate in his face asking, “When the hell were you going to tell us about this?”
