Chapter 49
“Come on Rin! We still gots a lot more houses to go to.” Rin staggered against Shippou hating the fact that she’d decided to wear heels. The shoes weren’t very large, maybe an inch at the most, but with the way the neighborhood was set, it felt like she was wearing five inchers. Shippou helped her up with a grin that was askew do to the actual corncob pipe in his mouth. Shippou had gone all out with his costume. He did look exactly like the Popeye, except for the fact that he had brown hair and pointy ears.
Khilu ran up to the next house with a group of kids as the two teens watched her happily. Taking the thing from his mouth, Shippou put it into his pocket before spitting out a bit of the pipe. “These things are nasty.” Pulling it back out, Shippou crushed it into a fine powder sending it along the with the wind. When Khilu, came up and showed how much candy she got. Pulling out a pack of rice candy and pocky the fox ate one of the small sticks saying smugly, “Thanks for the free snack, midget.”
The toddler’s mouth gaped open and soon her feet were moving fast under her baggy costume trying to catch up with the fox. Shippou kept an even pace of only staying three steps ahead of Khilu while looking over his shoulder to smile and stick his tongue out at her. Growling, Khilu stopped and bent her knees, in order to shoot forward and latch herself onto the back of the fox saying, “That’s my candy Shippou!”
Watching from a distance Rin yawned at another one of the pairs pointless battles. Their relationship was a lot like Sesshomaru’s and Souta’s. The only difference was where Sesshomaru would go out of his way to get Souta mad, Khilu and Shippou did it for laughs. Stopping in front of a house, Rin shouted, “Khilu, Shippou! What can you smell outta this place?” The two looked at the house and smiled at the immense size. It was easily three times the size of the one the girls lived in and judging by the sight of the cars there was a party going on.
Hopping down, Khilu took Shippou’s hand and sniffed deeply. Shippou sniffed along with the child for a few moments. Rin settled next to them as she waited for their noses to pick out the right scents. With all the pollution, kids, and cars around it was going to be a while for them to figure out if it was a good score. It was about two minutes after they had started sniffing when Shippou said, “Seems like they have some near the front door, and judging by the strength of the scents near the front door they were giving away a lot. So, I’d say it’s worth a shot. How about you Khilu?”
The pup nodded saying that she smelt lots of chocolate and other funny things and handed Shippou her pillow case. It was filled over half way, and was light for Khilu and Shippou, but for Rin, it would prove to be a bit of a problem to carry over long distances. Dragging the case, Shippou told Rin to stay near the gate as he followed the kid up the stairs. Before he could stop her, Khilu had jumped up to press the button.
His ears caught the deep tone of the bell, followed shortly by footsteps, female he guessed by the sound of them, and handed Khilu the bag as she said the three words that rewarded her with the candy. The girl who was passing out the candy smiled saying that she was glad to see a dad dress up along with his daughter for the day. Blushing, Shippou said thank you while taking the bag and Khilu by the arm.
As she waved good-bye to the lady Khilu asked, “How come she thinks you’re my daddy? I already have two daddies what I want to know is who my mommy is.” Shippou said nothing in response as it wasn’t his place to make any sort of statement on the subject. Seiya and Sesshomaru both had decided to wait for Khilu to be older to tell her of how she came to be born and he knew that it would be soon. Too soon the fox figured, but then again it had to be done.
Reaching Rin, the half-breed child and fox were overcome with the scent of her exhaustion. Checking his watch, Shippou jumped at seeing they’d been at it for over three hours. Reaching into the bag he’d brought, Shippou pulled out some tennis shoes and handed them to Rin, who gratefully took off her heels. Letting out a loud sigh of content at the feeling of her shoes, Rin asked, “Are you ready to head home Khilu?”
Yawning, the toddler rubbed her eyes and nodded saying, “I want bed.” Shippou was a bit surprised by this announcement. It was odd that Khilu was tired, she’d just had a large amount of energy when she rang the doorbell asking for candy. Getting down on his knees, Shippou checked her forehead for a fever. When he couldn’t feel one he lifted her hair to see that her ears had turned into regular human ones. Glancing at the sky he saw the crescent moon in the sky.
Picking her up in one arm, the fox swung the candy over his shoulder saying, “It’s her night of weakness.” Giving the male a blank stare, Rin looked into the sky to see the same moon that Shippou had. Sighing heavily out of both relief and worry, Rin stood next to her sister and chosen as they made the nine block walk back to the house. The kids ran down the street laughing happily at Shippou. He’d dropped his disguise finally and looked quite odd as a kitsune in a sailor costume.
Rin was used to walking long distances, but that night she wasn’t up to it. She tired too easily, and with having to keep an eye on Khilu and Shippou, who was worse than her sister at times, she felt drained. But, finally after nearly an hour they were in the door of their house. Taking Khilu from Shippou, Kagome made the painful journey up the stairs into her sister’s room where she laid Khilu down on her bed. She headed to the closet and found a night gown before heading to the bed and redressing her sister.
As the gown let her head through Khilu asked, “Rin, do you know why we don’t have a mommy like the other kids?” Pulling the fabric all the way down, Rin let her sister put her arms through the holes before tucking her in. It was a difficult question to answer and not have to worry about Khilu blabbing it to everyone when asked about her mom. Sure, she would say that she had no mom, only two dads, but the question would have to be answered one day and who she’d say the truth to was a problem.
Kissing the kids forehead, Rin patted her gently as she tucked her in saying happily, “Well, I used to have a mommy. But, well she died when I was younger and after a year or so I found Father in the woods and helped him heal and he saved my life. Then I followed him around and lived with him for a long time and called him Sesshomaru-sama and Lord Sesshomaru.” Khilu giggled at Rin being allowed to call the demon by his first name. To her only Daddy and the other adults could call him that and her older sister saying it was too funny.
Getting the meaning behind the giggles, Rin spoke gently, “Then when I was fifteen, Papa came into our lives and nearly a year later he and Father had mated. After that it was almost another year until we got you to make our lives a living nightmare.” She tickled her sister in such a way that the hanyou child began to cry from laughing so hard. Once calmed, RIn hugged her as she whispered, “We’re lucky to have you Khilu.” Khilu gave a loud yawn at the hug and settled into her pillows as she said goodnight to her sister.
Shutting off the light, Rin left the door open a crack just in case Khilu woke up. Going into the bathroom she stripped out of her costume and turned the shower head on to massage and let it work out the kinks in her shoulders and legs. When the kinks were gone she turned it back to regular and cleaned off all the sweat that had built up from the walking. The shampoo worked wonders for the small headache she was getting and after a quick brush of the teeth she exited the bathroom, garbed only in her robe and headed to her room.
Inside she had to kick Tater and Pup off of her bed since Tater was drooling on one of her pillows, while pup was chewing on one of her favorite squeaky toys. Taking back her bed, Rin locked the door and pulled out a set of under garments before grabbing her pajamas. She’d decided on her favorite pair of Shrek bottoms while going with a Napoleon Dynamite tee-shirt.
She put on a pair of slippers before unlocking the door to find the dogs waiting to get back in. Closing it quickly, Rin sent them into her parent’s room to make their bed a bigger mess than it already was. It shamed her to see the fact that her parents never made the bed, yet they seemed to be adamant that Rin and Khilu keep their rooms looking somewhat respectable. “Our room is not for your guests. Therefore they have no reason to see what it looks like.” That was her father’s reasoning to say the least. It made sense, however to the girls it was an excuse for the men to be lazy.
Going into the kitchen, Rin poured herself some iced tea when out of nowhere she heard the television turn on. Setting the glass down Rin entered the t.v room finding Sesshomaru laughing at a movie on the tube. Grabbing the remote she muted it asking, “I hope you know that we can get in big trouble for you being here.” Grabbing the device from her, Shippou said that it was okay since the reason he would feed the ‘parental units,’ as he called them, a lie about being here for Khilu. It seemed a good reason even if he did state that it was a lie. She remembered when some imps had come and tried to sneak into her window when Khilu had her weak night the previous month.
Rin sat on the other end of the couch watching the movie. She was a bit nervous at being alone with, Shippou. Granted she had been alone with Sesshomaru and a few other men in her times, yet nobody tried anything since well her parent’s were only interested in men and the others had no interest in her. She’d wondered if it was because of her looks, but then of course they were Souta’s friends and Souta had told them that she was taken and if they tried anything he and Shippou would deal with them personally.
So, Rin only had platonic relationships with the men in her life. Save for the few boys on the other side of the well. Sesshomaru had seen that they were able to provide her with the necessities to live a long life and had granted her permission to pursue them should she find them to her liking. Rin had gone to some festivals with them, but in the end nothing really happened between them. Then there was the time she saw Shippou on one of her visits to the village to see Seiya. She’d seen him many times before, but that time she’d finally seen him in a way that she’d never seen anyone.
He’d finally obtained a more adult humanoid form. He was just above Sesshomaru’s shoulder and instead of the small tuft of fur he had as a kit, three long golden tails flowed behind the fox as he made his way through the world. According to shippou his father had only two when he fully matured.. And with the demonic knowledge of the group they all took it as a sign that Shippou had surpassed his father in power. When she’d seen him in his full grace, Rin couldn’t help but fall for the fox. When she’d gone to him after the first snow after her Papa had come into their lives, Rin approached him expressing her feelings. Shippou returned the feelings saying that he’d admired her for a long while.
Once that was over and done with, they’d started their own little courting procedure. Normally in the way of gifts delivered by Inuyasha, Seiya or anyone else they could trust with the gifts. Now that they were adults they’d tried to do things a bit more openly. Like when they went out with Souta they held hands but didn’t do anything that would arouse Sesshomaru’s suspicions. But as they sat on the couch the pair sent the occasional glance over to the other side of the couch. They never locked eyes and Shippou decided to get her attention by using his tail to tickle her ankle.
Rin giggled and flicked the tip of the tail away giggling, “Stop it fox or I’ll kick you out of my parent’s house.” Shippou continued to tickle her leg until Rin finally grabbed it, giving it a hard squeeze growling, “I told you to stop it you dummy.” Shippou was soon growling in pain from the strength of the grip and pulled it out of her hands. “ Snickering, Rin grabbed one of the heavier pillows and started hitting the fox on the head saying between swings, “If you’d stopped tickling me I wouldn’t have don’t that!”
Sticking a claw out, Shippou swatted the pillow away and grabbed her wrists smirking. “Well it seems now I have the right to tell you shouldn’t have done that.” Rin tried to jerk away, but Shippou held on to her saying, “You think you can get away from me? I’m a full blooded demon!” Rin stopped trying to get away since she’d started laughing uncontrollably. Shippou let her go and started to laugh a bit too. The way he’d stated that was completely out of character and before he knew it, Rin had accidentally put her lips on his as she fell over from laughing.
They’d stopped for a moment as their lips remained together, both too shocked at what had just happened. It was a matter of minutes before Shippou pressed his lips softly to the girls. Rin pressed back gently and soon they were pressing their bodies against one another. Shippou wanted to hold her, but something didn’t smell right. Rin was clean, he could smell all the bathroom products on her skin and in her hair. This one was faint, and it smelt like what Rin had on earlier, but he didn’t care, he was finally doing what he’d wanted to do for so long. All he’d wanted was a kiss, and now he had it.
Rin was feeling the same electric feelings from the kiss that Shippou was. She couldn’t help but keep herself attached to the fox, and knew that he was the one as he hadn’t tried anything funny beside tickling her ankle. She was hoping that she could continue kissing the demon when out of nowhere a loud roar filled the house forcing Rin onto the floor and Shippou to be flung into the wall with a sickening thud. Rin could see the anger boiling from her Father as he picked the fox up before tossing him out of the house. Rin could hear Shippou skid across the ground before the door slammed loudly. The locks clicked and could see the anger in Sesshomaru’s eyes as he pointed to the stairs., to which the girl responded immediately.
Well, that’s what Rin had told Seiya a few days after they’d avoided each other. Sesshomaru was still not talking to her for allowing the fox to do that while they weren’t home. Had the fox and Rin not kissed the demon would have been understanding, but he was worried about what would have happened if they’d walked in had they been left alone. Sesshomaru didn’t want to think about that, and neither did Seiya. But, now Seiya was sitting outside of Kaede’s hut while working in his notebook.
Sesshomaru was due back from one of his visits and he’d decided to take that time to work on his secret project. It was going to take years to finish, but he was working away at it bit by bit. Looking up he saw Kaede’s apprentice watching him work. Closing the notebook, Seiya asked, “Can I help you.” The priestess sat down next to him saying nothing as she watched the clouds past. Opening his book again Seiya continued his work in silence noticing a couple of small errors.
“Why are you married to a demon?” Seiya tossed his book into the air, catching it he glared at her forcing the priestess to laugh loudly, “I’m sorry for doing that. But, I really must ask why you are with a demon? Especially with such a blood soaked past?” Seiya put his book away stating that Sesshomaru wasn’t as bad as people made him out to be. Scratching her chin the priestess was about to make a comment when a low cough interrupted her.
Getting up immediately, the priestess bowed saying, “Lord Sesshomaru, the blade you brought to me a while back is still hidden and the sutras are keeping it protected.” Sesshomaru acknowledged her statement before settling next to his mate with a claw on the hilt of his blade. Giving a loud sigh, the priestess said, “By the way in case you choose to only call me ‘Lady Priestess’ my name is Tamika.” Without another word she left the couple to their own devices in order to finish her lessons for the day.
Taking his hand off the hilt, Sesshomaru entwined his fingers into his mates squeezing it gently as he said, “My lands are safe and so far nothing beyond some skirmishes with a few jealous demons that needed to be slaughtered when they tried to attack me on my way back to you.” Seiya looked over the demon’s clothes to find small bits of blood. It was to be expected after allowing his allies to look over his lands until he saw fit. Seeing the look of concern, Sesshomaru showed his ring saying, “This band of gold is what I use as a reminder to live and come home.”
Smirking at the cliched reason to live, Seiya held up his own left hand saying, “Wouldn’t matter because if ya died I’d follow you soon so it’s not like we’re going to be apart for long.” Sesshomaru gave a cold stare at the morbid comment. Sensing the demon’s frustration, Seiya scratched his head with an embarrassed smirk. “Okay I know that was wrong to say but...mmmphhh.” The human was silenced by a gentle kiss from the demon.
The moment passed, and Sesshomaru moved away from his mate’s lips to kiss the starting point of the human’s mating mark. Seiya shuddered a bit at the sensitivity of the area that had a small scar from where Sesshomaru had claimed him a few years ago. Pulling back to nuzzle the wound, Sesshomaru whispered, “There is no need to apologize for that comment. I have learned to see through your jokes and sarcastic remarks. Yet, that is one of our reasons to continue to live.” Seiya saw Khilu run by as she played with some of her friends that lived in the village. She didn’t get to see them as often as the ones that attended the day care she attended when Seiya had to do things on the days Sesshomaru had diplomatic problems to deal with. However, the children treated her equally and she was happy with them as friends.
Khilu waved to them before going back to the game of hide and seek that was in progress while Sesshomaru attempted a glance at Seiya’s journal. Moving it away from the demon, Seiya put it under his behind saying, “I’d make a comment, but seeing how you’ve been lately your response will be rather crude.” At the demon’s reaction, Seiya smiled as he pulled the bits of paper out from under his body and locked them in his bag while stretching out his legs.
Knowing what was wrong, Sesshomaru turned his body and pulled his mate’s right leg into his lap to begin a short massage to loosen the muscle. Noticing the satisfied reaction in his mate’s face, the lord asked, “What do you think we should do about what occurred on that night?” Seiya opened his eyes at the question whining that a great moment had been ruined. Giving his low chuckle, Sesshomaru said, “While I still hold a fair amount of anger at Rin doing something like that, and the fox for falling into his own physical desires. It has become clear that we cannot stop them anymore no matter how much I detest their union.”
Seiya gave mention of that he had no real problem with it when out of nowhere Sesshomaru began to growl loudly. Seiya recognized that growl from the night after he’d thrown Shippou out of the house. Glancing around he found the fox sneaking through the village in an attempt to stay out of the pair’s respective radars. Only the fox wasn’t all that sneaky as Sesshomaru soon took chase on the kitsune. Seiya got to his feet and whistled for Ah-Un. As he hopped on he shouted into the hut, “Look after Khilu for a short while Kaede-san.”
Kicking his feet, Seiya shook the dragon into flight in hopes to catch up with the pair. It didn’t take long as the sound of the ground splitting turned Ah-Un to where his master was battling with the fox. Reaching the battlefield they found Inuyasha sitting in a tree yawning at the battle before him. Shippou was barely dodging the blasts of energy that the dog lazily sent his way. When Sesshomaru fired one at the fox, he couldn’t help but smirk as the tree his brother was laying in began to fall. Snorting, Inuyasha used the tree as a vault to send himself into the air. Following the hanyou’s flight path, Seiya moved Ah-Un out of the way asking, “So, is this some way of testing Shippou for his worth?”
Brushing off his haori, Inuyasha sat cross-legged as he huffed, “I could care less about what happens between those two.” Pulling out some bits of paper, Inuyasha waved them stating, “The morons will live with Sesshomaru as the victor. But, even though that is something I don’t want to happen. I can still use these to torture him for the rest of eternity.”
Swiping the papers out of his brother-in-laws hands, Seiya suppressed his laughter at seeing SEsshomaru staring placidly out a window dressed in fishnet hose, short shorts and a cut of denim jacket. Giving them back, Seiya snickered out, “I’ll let you keep them, but just don’t let him find out about them.” Once back in his hands, Inuyasha stuffed the pictures his garment as Shippou sent a blast of fire at Sesshomaru.
Twirling the blade deftly, Sesshomaru dissipated the flames effortlessly before darting forward to slam the pommel of his sword into the foxes stomach. Coughing a bit of blood up, Shippou staggered back a moment in order to swing down on the demon lord. Sesshomaru made no attempt to move and allowed the claws of the fox to slice into the flesh o f his face. Reaching up, he wiped the blood away with a smile saying smugly, “I can see that you are an exception to most of your kind.” Sesshomaru got down on all fours and began letting out his demonic energy.
Inuyasha stared at Seiya as if asking, “He’s not serious? Is he?” Seiya just remained still watching his mate transform into his demonic form. It looked surprisingly painful to see the body stretch and contort the way it did. The human could have sworn his mate’s jaw had snapped in order to allow his mouth to extend into a snout. Finally after a many heart stopping moments of snaps and bursts of energy, Sesshomaru stood at a third of his full demon form size as he snapped at the fox.
Shippou dodged shouting, “IF THAT’S WHAT YOU WANT, THEN I’LL PLAY YOUR GAME!” Shippou did the same as Sesshomaru in order to release his gold and blue aura. His ears and tails extended first as his aura seeped out of him in what looked like steam. Soon after his ears and tails began to grow, Shippous back extended forcing him closer to the ground so that his head and spine fit with the shape of his spinal column.
Drooling heavily, Shippou’s teeth became huge fangs and his eyes turned into slits of deep amber. In a short amount of time, Shippou appeared as a giant naked fox in front of the spectators. With a loud hiss, the fox’s energy erupted forcing his body to become covered in shimmering golden fur. After a quick shake of the body, Shippou shot forward with an amount of speed that none of his friends had seen before in order to appear at Sesshomaru’s side and slam into the dog’s rib cage.
Growling in annoyance, Sesshomaru lifted his right paw in order to swat the fox away. Seeing the attack, Shippou turned his jaws to the foot and bit into it hoping to make Sesshomaru stop his attack. Giving the fox a weird dog smirk, Sesshomaru flung him into a large willow. Yelping, Shippou rolled off the tree on to the ground. Climbing back to his feet, Shippou shot some flames from his tail catching Sesshomaru in the eyes.
Roaring loudly, Sesshomaru rubbed his eyes wit his paw while Shippou soared into the air, catching Sesshomaru’s ear making the demon lord roll over onto the ground crushing the fox under his weight. The onlookers were astounded that Sesshomaru would go that far to see how strong Shippou was due to the massive differences in their transformed states sizes. Shippou was barely past Sesshomaru’s knees when transformed, meaning that Sesshomaru rolling over the fox was a lot like a steam roller going over a person.
Back on all fours, Sesshomaru looked down to find Shippou struggling to get to his feet. He could smell the fact that Shippou was spent and in doing so he just raised a paw and knocked him over gently. Transforming back into his human form, Sesshomaru cooly stated while approaching the fox, “Your defeat was already foreseen, and the fact that you are still breathing tells me that you are at least worthy to court her. But, know this fox, do not attempt any form of mating with her for at least a year or I shall use your fur as a blanket for my dog.”
Shippou continued to pant heavily from the pain he was feeling, only to give a whine of agreement. With a small swish of his robes, Sesshomaru walked in the direction of his village. As he passed by, Seiya saw the demon stop near the bridge to remove a small handful of dirt. He watched the demon use his hand like a sifter to separate the dirt from his claw. When he stopped the demon put his thumb and forefinger into the water for a moment before wiping something on his robes. When the human saw the demon’s right hand cover up his left, Seiya knew that it was the demon’s wedding ring.
Kicking Ah-Uns sides, Seiya told INuyasha to take care of Shippou while he went and followed Sesshomaru. It didn’t take him any time to catch up with the demon, and when he did his husband stated, “I took it off so that I wouldn’t lose it during the battle. And as you heard he can court Rin so long as he doesn’t try anything beyond kissing and light physical contact.” Saying that it would be hard for the fox to control himself. Growling, Sesshomaru gave a sideways glance saying, “I hope you aren’t using our courting as a comparison to theirs. Because if you are, I can keep Rin locked in her room for the rest of her human life-span.”
Hopping off the dragon, Seiya threw his arm onto the demons shoulder and gave his neck a series of light kisses saying between them, “Well I just want to know if you are going to act this way if at some point we have a boy?” The pair stopped in their tracks at the bridge leading to the path towards the well. Removing his lips from his mate’s neck, Seiya said, “It was a joke Sesshomaru. “ He noticed an odd look on the demon’s face which got the wheels turning. “Sessh are you?”
The demon continued to remain silent as his mate began to look over him asking, “If you are why didn’t you tell me? How long have you...” But the boy was cut off by Sesshomaru’s deep laugh. Giving the demon a look similar to the one he gave Inuyasha during combat, Seiya punched the demon in the head saying, “You bastard! I thought we were going to have another kid!” Patting Ah-Un goodbye, Seiya headed off into the woods as Sesshomaru took chase shouting for him to stop.
Reaching the well, Seiya sat on it’s edge shouting back, “Ahhh screw you.” Landing at the side of the well a few seconds too late, Sesshomaru saw his mate disappear in a burst of blue while Ah-Un gave him a look telling the demon to follow and apologize.
Pointing towards the castle, Sesshomaru watched his dragon take flight before going back into the village to collect his child. The walk was a bit longer than it seemed the first time, which was a good thing because he didn’t have to experience the sight of his brother taking the fox into the village. He was glad the fight didn’t drag out as long as he’d originally wanted. Had it the fox would surely have been dead, but using his size he ended it quickly. Judging by the sounds, he’d broken six ribs in the fox which was a disappointment.
Reaching Kaede’s he saw Khilu talking to Inuyasha which he stopped by letting his daughter and brother notice his scent. Getting to her feet, Khilu ran up to her papa asking, “How come Shippou is hurt?” Picking her up, Sesshomaru cradled her in his arm while she played with his hair while waving goodbye to her uncle. In the woods, Khilu wiggled out of her papa’s arms and took his hand asking again, “Why do you smell a lot like Shippou?”
Brushing some branches away, Sesshomaru kept his eyes forward in order to keep his focus on any approaching enemies. Smelling for some enemies, the demon lord said to his child, “Shippou wished to mate with your sister and I tested him. He lost miserably, but for one of his clan he’s strong which makes him suitable for your sister.” Khilu cheered at the news of having a big brother before becoming uncomfortably quiet.
It was rather unusual for Khilu not to talk his or Seiya’s ear off when alone with them. So, when they reached the well, Sesshomaru noticed clothes for his trip back through the well. By the scent of them he found his brother’s mate had left them there with a note telling that Souta was at the house with Seiya. Picking them up he had Khilu sit staring at the well while he changed. As the demon changed his daughter asked, “Papa, how come Rin and I don’t have a mommy?”
Stopping a few seconds before his shoes were completely tied, Sesshomaru asked, “What does having a mother matter? You have your father and I, is that not enough?” His voice was harder than he had meant it to be. The child was curious and she had a right. He’d talked to some of the parent’s when he took her to the park to play with their friends. While his personality led them to the conclusion that he was a person who was not the most sociable being to ever exist. But, as he watched Khilu play, he noticed most of the children were there with their mother’s.
It was coming close to the time to discuss how Khilu was born and why she didn’t have a mother, yet with Seiya being mad at him for his ‘joke,’ the timing may not be the best. Double checking his shoes, Sesshomaru turned, picked the child up, and headed into the well where on the other side he found the shrine to be empty. Holding Khilu close, Sesshomaru leapt out with the parcel he had created for his clothes before picking the child up, and landed silently on the dirt covered floor. Setting her down, Sesshomaru took hold of her hand as he made his way out of the temple grounds. He had no patience to deal with the clan of human’s that night since he wanted to discuss things with Seiya and Rin.
The train ride was quick that night, some of the stops were under maintenance forcing the train to continue on with it’s other destinations. Khilu hadn’t asked about having a mother again the whole trip. She knew that she had hit a subject that her parent’s weren’t ready to talk about and instead focused on a coloring book she’d brought. The demon watched his child use the crayons she had carefully. Although she colored certain things in colors that would be deemed unnatural, she was careful to stay in the lines and when she felt she would be shaken, she lifted the crayon before starting up again.
Hearing their stop, Sesshomaru took Khilu’s hand and led her up the stairs near the exit. On the surface, Sesshomaru sighed heavily saying, “Khilu, I promise you that someday soon your Father and I will tell you why you don’t have a mother.” The child looked up at her father asking why he sounded so sad about having to tell her. Chuckling, Sesshomaru led her down the street near their neighborhood saying, “It is not sadness in my voice. It is frustration child. The answer to your question isn’t an easy one to give so it’s hard to find the best way to tell you it in a manner you would understand.”
Pulling hard on her Papa’s arm, Khilu happily sang, “I don’t need a mommy cuz I have two daddy’s.” Chuckling, Sesshomaru found Souta to be sitting in the living room laughing loudly at Rin who was laughing with him. Opening the door, Sesshomaru heard the house grow silent as soon as his foot was inside the frame. Shoving her way past her father, Khilu bolted into the living room shouting, “Uncle Souta!” A loud grunt came from the human as Khilu began pelting him with questions.
Not bothering to give his daughters a look, Sesshomaru made his way up the stairs into the bedroom to find Seiya snoring amidst two clumps of fur and the blankets. Snapping his fingers, Sesshomaru at forced Pup to remove herself from Seiya’s stomach as Tater continued to drip drool onto the floor. Creeping to the bed, Sesshomaru gently slid onto the mattress before kissing his mate’s neck.
“If you think I’m going to forgive you, you’re sorely mistaken.” Sei’s voice was heavy with sleep, but that didn’t stop Sesshomaru from trying to get the human to loosen up a bit. So he continued to kiss the nape of the human’s neck along with his earlobes. Sighing with a heavy mix of pleasure and frustration, Seiya muttered, “Okay, I’m not as mad as I was, but if you stop I’ll kick you out of the bed for the night.”
Chuckling, Sesshomaru gave the human one last kiss saying, “It was meant to be taken as a joke. Are you so anxious for another child already?” Seiya shook his head while stating that another child would be fine, but it was the fact that Sesshomaru made him think the demon had gone into combat while carrying a child. Smirking, Sesshomaru breathed in his mate’s scent as he whispered, “I would never go into combat while with child.”
Rolling over, Seiya pinned his mate down and gave the demon a small kiss saying happily, “I know you won’t do anything stupid like that. Not after what happened when we were in Canada.” Sesshomaru’s face fell from the comment. Nearly four years later, Seiya liked to torment the demon with his exploits from when they were courting and when the demon was pregnant. After his latest guilt comment, Seiya got off the bed asking, “What do we tell Rin about Shippou? That you nearly killed him? Or that you’re allowing them to date? Or how about both?”
Sesshomaru put his legs over the side of the bed staring coldly at his husband. Curling his lip the demon asked, “How about I cut out your tongue so that I never have to hear your rude, sarcastic comments ever again boy?” Raising his claw the demon flexed the limb stating, “These claws are as sharp as ever so it will only hurt as much as I want it to hurt.”
Flipping the demon his middle finger, Seiya left the room followed closely by Pup while Tater turned his head as if to tell the demon to let him sleep. Flicking the dogs nose, Sesshomaru said, “Be lucky that I don’t let you freeze outside.” Barking in retort, Tater went back to his nap as Khilu came up the stairs dragging Souta up with her. “What do you think you’re doing?” Sesshomaru asked as Khilu said hello to him.
“Daddy told us to leave you, him, and Rin alone. So I’m going to go play dolls with Uncle Souta.” Growling at the boy, Sesshomaru went downstairs to find Rin sitting quietly as Seiya did the same. Stepping in, Sesshomaru took a seat in a recliner waiting for one of them to make the first move.
It seemed that Rin was the one with enough guts to start off the conversation. “Papa said that we had something important to discuss father?” Sesshomaru remained in his perfectly postured position, nodding slightly. Gulping Rin asked, “Does what we must discuss deal with what happened on Halloween?” Sesshomaru nodded again making Rin burst out, “I’ve already told you that what happened was an accident and we haven’t seen or talked to each other since because we were afraid of...”
Sesshomaru raised his hand saying, “I don’t care about you kissing him. It is natural, I myself acted on impulse when I marked your father.” Sesshomaru gave Seiya a small smirk making the human blush before continuing. “The problem lies in both you and the fox knew the rules we placed down and yet you knowingly broke them.”
Rin nodded looking sad at being reminded of doing something like that. She knew that her parents were only looking out for her by keeping her from the mating. Had Shippou been a human there wouldn’t have been a problem but with him being a demon there were much greater risks. Looking up she said, “I know I went too far this time. But, you both know we would have stopped. Shippou didn’t want to ruin any chance of us being together and the same went for me.”
Snorting a bit, Seiya softly said, “We know that you two would have stopped. And there’s no doubt we were a bit hard on you. Our home is mainly in this time and things are different here, but the fact remains that you broke the trust we placed in you.” Finishing his statement, Seiya looked to Sesshomaru for confirmation and received a small nod from his husband. Giving a heavy sigh, Seiya said happily, “But, despite that you’ve made up for it. So, with your father deeming Shippou worthy, we’ve decided that you and Shippou can begin courting.”
Rin kept her eyes going between the two men. The two of them knew what was about to happen and sure enough the two were tackled to the floor with her squealing out her thanks. When she stopped, Seiya gasped out, “Okay, you’re welcome. Just go and ask if Souta is staying for dinner.” Running up the stairs to tell them the news, Seiya went into the kitchen to dial up some take out. Picking himself up off the floor, Sesshomaru sat down at the table just as Seiya hung up the phone. “You are going to do the dishes.”
Later that evening after dinner was done, Seiya was sitting at the table sipping a cup of milk as Sesshomaru did the manual labor for the evening. The two had been talking for some time when Khilu came downstairs clinging to her stuffed bunny. The couple asked what she wanted. Upon being asked the child belted out, “Do babys come out of where I go pee?”
Breaking a plate, Sesshomaru dug the bits of porcelain out of his hands while Shippou tried to keep from laughing. As he watched his husband tend to his wounds, Seiya put Khilu in his lap saying, “Well they come out of an area near where you pee from. Because boys and girls are different. Boys have something called a penis and girls have a vagina and well babys grow inside of a girl’s body for about nine months. And how the baby begins to grow is a boy and girl do a special hug, much like the one you saw me and Papa doing that night we yelled at you for coming into our room without knocking.”
Staring up at her Papa the child asked, “So, Papa’s the girl?” Sesshomaru gripped the edge of the sink as Seiya explained that Sesshomaru was a boy not a girl. Scratching her head, Khilu said, “So does that mean a boy’s body part has to go into a girl?”
Nodding, Seiya said happily, “Yes that’s right. But, you have to wait until you’re in love like me and Papa.” Khilu said that she would which made Seiya kiss her head as he said, “Well that won’t happen for a long, long time cutie. But when you do, there’s a chance that you’ll become a mommy.”
Hopping down, Khilu went to Sesshomaru and hugged his leg saying, “Okay, I won’t ask about why I don’t have a mommy anymore.” Making her way across the kitchen, Khilu kissed Seiya good night while dragging her bunny up the stairs. Seiya smirked at Sesshomaru who was feeling enraged at his daughter thinking he was a woman. The human was about to go comfort him when the sound of a door opening was followed by Khilu shouting, “UNCLE SOUTA YOU LIED! YOU SAID I WAS BORN BECAUSE DADDY PUT HIS PENIS IN PAPA’S BUTT!”
“Come on Rin! We still gots a lot more houses to go to.” Rin staggered against Shippou hating the fact that she’d decided to wear heels. The shoes weren’t very large, maybe an inch at the most, but with the way the neighborhood was set, it felt like she was wearing five inchers. Shippou helped her up with a grin that was askew do to the actual corncob pipe in his mouth. Shippou had gone all out with his costume. He did look exactly like the Popeye, except for the fact that he had brown hair and pointy ears.
Khilu ran up to the next house with a group of kids as the two teens watched her happily. Taking the thing from his mouth, Shippou put it into his pocket before spitting out a bit of the pipe. “These things are nasty.” Pulling it back out, Shippou crushed it into a fine powder sending it along the with the wind. When Khilu, came up and showed how much candy she got. Pulling out a pack of rice candy and pocky the fox ate one of the small sticks saying smugly, “Thanks for the free snack, midget.”
The toddler’s mouth gaped open and soon her feet were moving fast under her baggy costume trying to catch up with the fox. Shippou kept an even pace of only staying three steps ahead of Khilu while looking over his shoulder to smile and stick his tongue out at her. Growling, Khilu stopped and bent her knees, in order to shoot forward and latch herself onto the back of the fox saying, “That’s my candy Shippou!”
Watching from a distance Rin yawned at another one of the pairs pointless battles. Their relationship was a lot like Sesshomaru’s and Souta’s. The only difference was where Sesshomaru would go out of his way to get Souta mad, Khilu and Shippou did it for laughs. Stopping in front of a house, Rin shouted, “Khilu, Shippou! What can you smell outta this place?” The two looked at the house and smiled at the immense size. It was easily three times the size of the one the girls lived in and judging by the sight of the cars there was a party going on.
Hopping down, Khilu took Shippou’s hand and sniffed deeply. Shippou sniffed along with the child for a few moments. Rin settled next to them as she waited for their noses to pick out the right scents. With all the pollution, kids, and cars around it was going to be a while for them to figure out if it was a good score. It was about two minutes after they had started sniffing when Shippou said, “Seems like they have some near the front door, and judging by the strength of the scents near the front door they were giving away a lot. So, I’d say it’s worth a shot. How about you Khilu?”
The pup nodded saying that she smelt lots of chocolate and other funny things and handed Shippou her pillow case. It was filled over half way, and was light for Khilu and Shippou, but for Rin, it would prove to be a bit of a problem to carry over long distances. Dragging the case, Shippou told Rin to stay near the gate as he followed the kid up the stairs. Before he could stop her, Khilu had jumped up to press the button.
His ears caught the deep tone of the bell, followed shortly by footsteps, female he guessed by the sound of them, and handed Khilu the bag as she said the three words that rewarded her with the candy. The girl who was passing out the candy smiled saying that she was glad to see a dad dress up along with his daughter for the day. Blushing, Shippou said thank you while taking the bag and Khilu by the arm.
As she waved good-bye to the lady Khilu asked, “How come she thinks you’re my daddy? I already have two daddies what I want to know is who my mommy is.” Shippou said nothing in response as it wasn’t his place to make any sort of statement on the subject. Seiya and Sesshomaru both had decided to wait for Khilu to be older to tell her of how she came to be born and he knew that it would be soon. Too soon the fox figured, but then again it had to be done.
Reaching Rin, the half-breed child and fox were overcome with the scent of her exhaustion. Checking his watch, Shippou jumped at seeing they’d been at it for over three hours. Reaching into the bag he’d brought, Shippou pulled out some tennis shoes and handed them to Rin, who gratefully took off her heels. Letting out a loud sigh of content at the feeling of her shoes, Rin asked, “Are you ready to head home Khilu?”
Yawning, the toddler rubbed her eyes and nodded saying, “I want bed.” Shippou was a bit surprised by this announcement. It was odd that Khilu was tired, she’d just had a large amount of energy when she rang the doorbell asking for candy. Getting down on his knees, Shippou checked her forehead for a fever. When he couldn’t feel one he lifted her hair to see that her ears had turned into regular human ones. Glancing at the sky he saw the crescent moon in the sky.
Picking her up in one arm, the fox swung the candy over his shoulder saying, “It’s her night of weakness.” Giving the male a blank stare, Rin looked into the sky to see the same moon that Shippou had. Sighing heavily out of both relief and worry, Rin stood next to her sister and chosen as they made the nine block walk back to the house. The kids ran down the street laughing happily at Shippou. He’d dropped his disguise finally and looked quite odd as a kitsune in a sailor costume.
Rin was used to walking long distances, but that night she wasn’t up to it. She tired too easily, and with having to keep an eye on Khilu and Shippou, who was worse than her sister at times, she felt drained. But, finally after nearly an hour they were in the door of their house. Taking Khilu from Shippou, Kagome made the painful journey up the stairs into her sister’s room where she laid Khilu down on her bed. She headed to the closet and found a night gown before heading to the bed and redressing her sister.
As the gown let her head through Khilu asked, “Rin, do you know why we don’t have a mommy like the other kids?” Pulling the fabric all the way down, Rin let her sister put her arms through the holes before tucking her in. It was a difficult question to answer and not have to worry about Khilu blabbing it to everyone when asked about her mom. Sure, she would say that she had no mom, only two dads, but the question would have to be answered one day and who she’d say the truth to was a problem.
Kissing the kids forehead, Rin patted her gently as she tucked her in saying happily, “Well, I used to have a mommy. But, well she died when I was younger and after a year or so I found Father in the woods and helped him heal and he saved my life. Then I followed him around and lived with him for a long time and called him Sesshomaru-sama and Lord Sesshomaru.” Khilu giggled at Rin being allowed to call the demon by his first name. To her only Daddy and the other adults could call him that and her older sister saying it was too funny.
Getting the meaning behind the giggles, Rin spoke gently, “Then when I was fifteen, Papa came into our lives and nearly a year later he and Father had mated. After that it was almost another year until we got you to make our lives a living nightmare.” She tickled her sister in such a way that the hanyou child began to cry from laughing so hard. Once calmed, RIn hugged her as she whispered, “We’re lucky to have you Khilu.” Khilu gave a loud yawn at the hug and settled into her pillows as she said goodnight to her sister.
Shutting off the light, Rin left the door open a crack just in case Khilu woke up. Going into the bathroom she stripped out of her costume and turned the shower head on to massage and let it work out the kinks in her shoulders and legs. When the kinks were gone she turned it back to regular and cleaned off all the sweat that had built up from the walking. The shampoo worked wonders for the small headache she was getting and after a quick brush of the teeth she exited the bathroom, garbed only in her robe and headed to her room.
Inside she had to kick Tater and Pup off of her bed since Tater was drooling on one of her pillows, while pup was chewing on one of her favorite squeaky toys. Taking back her bed, Rin locked the door and pulled out a set of under garments before grabbing her pajamas. She’d decided on her favorite pair of Shrek bottoms while going with a Napoleon Dynamite tee-shirt.
She put on a pair of slippers before unlocking the door to find the dogs waiting to get back in. Closing it quickly, Rin sent them into her parent’s room to make their bed a bigger mess than it already was. It shamed her to see the fact that her parents never made the bed, yet they seemed to be adamant that Rin and Khilu keep their rooms looking somewhat respectable. “Our room is not for your guests. Therefore they have no reason to see what it looks like.” That was her father’s reasoning to say the least. It made sense, however to the girls it was an excuse for the men to be lazy.
Going into the kitchen, Rin poured herself some iced tea when out of nowhere she heard the television turn on. Setting the glass down Rin entered the t.v room finding Sesshomaru laughing at a movie on the tube. Grabbing the remote she muted it asking, “I hope you know that we can get in big trouble for you being here.” Grabbing the device from her, Shippou said that it was okay since the reason he would feed the ‘parental units,’ as he called them, a lie about being here for Khilu. It seemed a good reason even if he did state that it was a lie. She remembered when some imps had come and tried to sneak into her window when Khilu had her weak night the previous month.
Rin sat on the other end of the couch watching the movie. She was a bit nervous at being alone with, Shippou. Granted she had been alone with Sesshomaru and a few other men in her times, yet nobody tried anything since well her parent’s were only interested in men and the others had no interest in her. She’d wondered if it was because of her looks, but then of course they were Souta’s friends and Souta had told them that she was taken and if they tried anything he and Shippou would deal with them personally.
So, Rin only had platonic relationships with the men in her life. Save for the few boys on the other side of the well. Sesshomaru had seen that they were able to provide her with the necessities to live a long life and had granted her permission to pursue them should she find them to her liking. Rin had gone to some festivals with them, but in the end nothing really happened between them. Then there was the time she saw Shippou on one of her visits to the village to see Seiya. She’d seen him many times before, but that time she’d finally seen him in a way that she’d never seen anyone.
He’d finally obtained a more adult humanoid form. He was just above Sesshomaru’s shoulder and instead of the small tuft of fur he had as a kit, three long golden tails flowed behind the fox as he made his way through the world. According to shippou his father had only two when he fully matured.. And with the demonic knowledge of the group they all took it as a sign that Shippou had surpassed his father in power. When she’d seen him in his full grace, Rin couldn’t help but fall for the fox. When she’d gone to him after the first snow after her Papa had come into their lives, Rin approached him expressing her feelings. Shippou returned the feelings saying that he’d admired her for a long while.
Once that was over and done with, they’d started their own little courting procedure. Normally in the way of gifts delivered by Inuyasha, Seiya or anyone else they could trust with the gifts. Now that they were adults they’d tried to do things a bit more openly. Like when they went out with Souta they held hands but didn’t do anything that would arouse Sesshomaru’s suspicions. But as they sat on the couch the pair sent the occasional glance over to the other side of the couch. They never locked eyes and Shippou decided to get her attention by using his tail to tickle her ankle.
Rin giggled and flicked the tip of the tail away giggling, “Stop it fox or I’ll kick you out of my parent’s house.” Shippou continued to tickle her leg until Rin finally grabbed it, giving it a hard squeeze growling, “I told you to stop it you dummy.” Shippou was soon growling in pain from the strength of the grip and pulled it out of her hands. “ Snickering, Rin grabbed one of the heavier pillows and started hitting the fox on the head saying between swings, “If you’d stopped tickling me I wouldn’t have don’t that!”
Sticking a claw out, Shippou swatted the pillow away and grabbed her wrists smirking. “Well it seems now I have the right to tell you shouldn’t have done that.” Rin tried to jerk away, but Shippou held on to her saying, “You think you can get away from me? I’m a full blooded demon!” Rin stopped trying to get away since she’d started laughing uncontrollably. Shippou let her go and started to laugh a bit too. The way he’d stated that was completely out of character and before he knew it, Rin had accidentally put her lips on his as she fell over from laughing.
They’d stopped for a moment as their lips remained together, both too shocked at what had just happened. It was a matter of minutes before Shippou pressed his lips softly to the girls. Rin pressed back gently and soon they were pressing their bodies against one another. Shippou wanted to hold her, but something didn’t smell right. Rin was clean, he could smell all the bathroom products on her skin and in her hair. This one was faint, and it smelt like what Rin had on earlier, but he didn’t care, he was finally doing what he’d wanted to do for so long. All he’d wanted was a kiss, and now he had it.
Rin was feeling the same electric feelings from the kiss that Shippou was. She couldn’t help but keep herself attached to the fox, and knew that he was the one as he hadn’t tried anything funny beside tickling her ankle. She was hoping that she could continue kissing the demon when out of nowhere a loud roar filled the house forcing Rin onto the floor and Shippou to be flung into the wall with a sickening thud. Rin could see the anger boiling from her Father as he picked the fox up before tossing him out of the house. Rin could hear Shippou skid across the ground before the door slammed loudly. The locks clicked and could see the anger in Sesshomaru’s eyes as he pointed to the stairs., to which the girl responded immediately.
Well, that’s what Rin had told Seiya a few days after they’d avoided each other. Sesshomaru was still not talking to her for allowing the fox to do that while they weren’t home. Had the fox and Rin not kissed the demon would have been understanding, but he was worried about what would have happened if they’d walked in had they been left alone. Sesshomaru didn’t want to think about that, and neither did Seiya. But, now Seiya was sitting outside of Kaede’s hut while working in his notebook.
Sesshomaru was due back from one of his visits and he’d decided to take that time to work on his secret project. It was going to take years to finish, but he was working away at it bit by bit. Looking up he saw Kaede’s apprentice watching him work. Closing the notebook, Seiya asked, “Can I help you.” The priestess sat down next to him saying nothing as she watched the clouds past. Opening his book again Seiya continued his work in silence noticing a couple of small errors.
“Why are you married to a demon?” Seiya tossed his book into the air, catching it he glared at her forcing the priestess to laugh loudly, “I’m sorry for doing that. But, I really must ask why you are with a demon? Especially with such a blood soaked past?” Seiya put his book away stating that Sesshomaru wasn’t as bad as people made him out to be. Scratching her chin the priestess was about to make a comment when a low cough interrupted her.
Getting up immediately, the priestess bowed saying, “Lord Sesshomaru, the blade you brought to me a while back is still hidden and the sutras are keeping it protected.” Sesshomaru acknowledged her statement before settling next to his mate with a claw on the hilt of his blade. Giving a loud sigh, the priestess said, “By the way in case you choose to only call me ‘Lady Priestess’ my name is Tamika.” Without another word she left the couple to their own devices in order to finish her lessons for the day.
Taking his hand off the hilt, Sesshomaru entwined his fingers into his mates squeezing it gently as he said, “My lands are safe and so far nothing beyond some skirmishes with a few jealous demons that needed to be slaughtered when they tried to attack me on my way back to you.” Seiya looked over the demon’s clothes to find small bits of blood. It was to be expected after allowing his allies to look over his lands until he saw fit. Seeing the look of concern, Sesshomaru showed his ring saying, “This band of gold is what I use as a reminder to live and come home.”
Smirking at the cliched reason to live, Seiya held up his own left hand saying, “Wouldn’t matter because if ya died I’d follow you soon so it’s not like we’re going to be apart for long.” Sesshomaru gave a cold stare at the morbid comment. Sensing the demon’s frustration, Seiya scratched his head with an embarrassed smirk. “Okay I know that was wrong to say but...mmmphhh.” The human was silenced by a gentle kiss from the demon.
The moment passed, and Sesshomaru moved away from his mate’s lips to kiss the starting point of the human’s mating mark. Seiya shuddered a bit at the sensitivity of the area that had a small scar from where Sesshomaru had claimed him a few years ago. Pulling back to nuzzle the wound, Sesshomaru whispered, “There is no need to apologize for that comment. I have learned to see through your jokes and sarcastic remarks. Yet, that is one of our reasons to continue to live.” Seiya saw Khilu run by as she played with some of her friends that lived in the village. She didn’t get to see them as often as the ones that attended the day care she attended when Seiya had to do things on the days Sesshomaru had diplomatic problems to deal with. However, the children treated her equally and she was happy with them as friends.
Khilu waved to them before going back to the game of hide and seek that was in progress while Sesshomaru attempted a glance at Seiya’s journal. Moving it away from the demon, Seiya put it under his behind saying, “I’d make a comment, but seeing how you’ve been lately your response will be rather crude.” At the demon’s reaction, Seiya smiled as he pulled the bits of paper out from under his body and locked them in his bag while stretching out his legs.
Knowing what was wrong, Sesshomaru turned his body and pulled his mate’s right leg into his lap to begin a short massage to loosen the muscle. Noticing the satisfied reaction in his mate’s face, the lord asked, “What do you think we should do about what occurred on that night?” Seiya opened his eyes at the question whining that a great moment had been ruined. Giving his low chuckle, Sesshomaru said, “While I still hold a fair amount of anger at Rin doing something like that, and the fox for falling into his own physical desires. It has become clear that we cannot stop them anymore no matter how much I detest their union.”
Seiya gave mention of that he had no real problem with it when out of nowhere Sesshomaru began to growl loudly. Seiya recognized that growl from the night after he’d thrown Shippou out of the house. Glancing around he found the fox sneaking through the village in an attempt to stay out of the pair’s respective radars. Only the fox wasn’t all that sneaky as Sesshomaru soon took chase on the kitsune. Seiya got to his feet and whistled for Ah-Un. As he hopped on he shouted into the hut, “Look after Khilu for a short while Kaede-san.”
Kicking his feet, Seiya shook the dragon into flight in hopes to catch up with the pair. It didn’t take long as the sound of the ground splitting turned Ah-Un to where his master was battling with the fox. Reaching the battlefield they found Inuyasha sitting in a tree yawning at the battle before him. Shippou was barely dodging the blasts of energy that the dog lazily sent his way. When Sesshomaru fired one at the fox, he couldn’t help but smirk as the tree his brother was laying in began to fall. Snorting, Inuyasha used the tree as a vault to send himself into the air. Following the hanyou’s flight path, Seiya moved Ah-Un out of the way asking, “So, is this some way of testing Shippou for his worth?”
Brushing off his haori, Inuyasha sat cross-legged as he huffed, “I could care less about what happens between those two.” Pulling out some bits of paper, Inuyasha waved them stating, “The morons will live with Sesshomaru as the victor. But, even though that is something I don’t want to happen. I can still use these to torture him for the rest of eternity.”
Swiping the papers out of his brother-in-laws hands, Seiya suppressed his laughter at seeing SEsshomaru staring placidly out a window dressed in fishnet hose, short shorts and a cut of denim jacket. Giving them back, Seiya snickered out, “I’ll let you keep them, but just don’t let him find out about them.” Once back in his hands, Inuyasha stuffed the pictures his garment as Shippou sent a blast of fire at Sesshomaru.
Twirling the blade deftly, Sesshomaru dissipated the flames effortlessly before darting forward to slam the pommel of his sword into the foxes stomach. Coughing a bit of blood up, Shippou staggered back a moment in order to swing down on the demon lord. Sesshomaru made no attempt to move and allowed the claws of the fox to slice into the flesh o f his face. Reaching up, he wiped the blood away with a smile saying smugly, “I can see that you are an exception to most of your kind.” Sesshomaru got down on all fours and began letting out his demonic energy.
Inuyasha stared at Seiya as if asking, “He’s not serious? Is he?” Seiya just remained still watching his mate transform into his demonic form. It looked surprisingly painful to see the body stretch and contort the way it did. The human could have sworn his mate’s jaw had snapped in order to allow his mouth to extend into a snout. Finally after a many heart stopping moments of snaps and bursts of energy, Sesshomaru stood at a third of his full demon form size as he snapped at the fox.
Shippou dodged shouting, “IF THAT’S WHAT YOU WANT, THEN I’LL PLAY YOUR GAME!” Shippou did the same as Sesshomaru in order to release his gold and blue aura. His ears and tails extended first as his aura seeped out of him in what looked like steam. Soon after his ears and tails began to grow, Shippous back extended forcing him closer to the ground so that his head and spine fit with the shape of his spinal column.
Drooling heavily, Shippou’s teeth became huge fangs and his eyes turned into slits of deep amber. In a short amount of time, Shippou appeared as a giant naked fox in front of the spectators. With a loud hiss, the fox’s energy erupted forcing his body to become covered in shimmering golden fur. After a quick shake of the body, Shippou shot forward with an amount of speed that none of his friends had seen before in order to appear at Sesshomaru’s side and slam into the dog’s rib cage.
Growling in annoyance, Sesshomaru lifted his right paw in order to swat the fox away. Seeing the attack, Shippou turned his jaws to the foot and bit into it hoping to make Sesshomaru stop his attack. Giving the fox a weird dog smirk, Sesshomaru flung him into a large willow. Yelping, Shippou rolled off the tree on to the ground. Climbing back to his feet, Shippou shot some flames from his tail catching Sesshomaru in the eyes.
Roaring loudly, Sesshomaru rubbed his eyes wit his paw while Shippou soared into the air, catching Sesshomaru’s ear making the demon lord roll over onto the ground crushing the fox under his weight. The onlookers were astounded that Sesshomaru would go that far to see how strong Shippou was due to the massive differences in their transformed states sizes. Shippou was barely past Sesshomaru’s knees when transformed, meaning that Sesshomaru rolling over the fox was a lot like a steam roller going over a person.
Back on all fours, Sesshomaru looked down to find Shippou struggling to get to his feet. He could smell the fact that Shippou was spent and in doing so he just raised a paw and knocked him over gently. Transforming back into his human form, Sesshomaru cooly stated while approaching the fox, “Your defeat was already foreseen, and the fact that you are still breathing tells me that you are at least worthy to court her. But, know this fox, do not attempt any form of mating with her for at least a year or I shall use your fur as a blanket for my dog.”
Shippou continued to pant heavily from the pain he was feeling, only to give a whine of agreement. With a small swish of his robes, Sesshomaru walked in the direction of his village. As he passed by, Seiya saw the demon stop near the bridge to remove a small handful of dirt. He watched the demon use his hand like a sifter to separate the dirt from his claw. When he stopped the demon put his thumb and forefinger into the water for a moment before wiping something on his robes. When the human saw the demon’s right hand cover up his left, Seiya knew that it was the demon’s wedding ring.
Kicking Ah-Uns sides, Seiya told INuyasha to take care of Shippou while he went and followed Sesshomaru. It didn’t take him any time to catch up with the demon, and when he did his husband stated, “I took it off so that I wouldn’t lose it during the battle. And as you heard he can court Rin so long as he doesn’t try anything beyond kissing and light physical contact.” Saying that it would be hard for the fox to control himself. Growling, Sesshomaru gave a sideways glance saying, “I hope you aren’t using our courting as a comparison to theirs. Because if you are, I can keep Rin locked in her room for the rest of her human life-span.”
Hopping off the dragon, Seiya threw his arm onto the demons shoulder and gave his neck a series of light kisses saying between them, “Well I just want to know if you are going to act this way if at some point we have a boy?” The pair stopped in their tracks at the bridge leading to the path towards the well. Removing his lips from his mate’s neck, Seiya said, “It was a joke Sesshomaru. “ He noticed an odd look on the demon’s face which got the wheels turning. “Sessh are you?”
The demon continued to remain silent as his mate began to look over him asking, “If you are why didn’t you tell me? How long have you...” But the boy was cut off by Sesshomaru’s deep laugh. Giving the demon a look similar to the one he gave Inuyasha during combat, Seiya punched the demon in the head saying, “You bastard! I thought we were going to have another kid!” Patting Ah-Un goodbye, Seiya headed off into the woods as Sesshomaru took chase shouting for him to stop.
Reaching the well, Seiya sat on it’s edge shouting back, “Ahhh screw you.” Landing at the side of the well a few seconds too late, Sesshomaru saw his mate disappear in a burst of blue while Ah-Un gave him a look telling the demon to follow and apologize.
Pointing towards the castle, Sesshomaru watched his dragon take flight before going back into the village to collect his child. The walk was a bit longer than it seemed the first time, which was a good thing because he didn’t have to experience the sight of his brother taking the fox into the village. He was glad the fight didn’t drag out as long as he’d originally wanted. Had it the fox would surely have been dead, but using his size he ended it quickly. Judging by the sounds, he’d broken six ribs in the fox which was a disappointment.
Reaching Kaede’s he saw Khilu talking to Inuyasha which he stopped by letting his daughter and brother notice his scent. Getting to her feet, Khilu ran up to her papa asking, “How come Shippou is hurt?” Picking her up, Sesshomaru cradled her in his arm while she played with his hair while waving goodbye to her uncle. In the woods, Khilu wiggled out of her papa’s arms and took his hand asking again, “Why do you smell a lot like Shippou?”
Brushing some branches away, Sesshomaru kept his eyes forward in order to keep his focus on any approaching enemies. Smelling for some enemies, the demon lord said to his child, “Shippou wished to mate with your sister and I tested him. He lost miserably, but for one of his clan he’s strong which makes him suitable for your sister.” Khilu cheered at the news of having a big brother before becoming uncomfortably quiet.
It was rather unusual for Khilu not to talk his or Seiya’s ear off when alone with them. So, when they reached the well, Sesshomaru noticed clothes for his trip back through the well. By the scent of them he found his brother’s mate had left them there with a note telling that Souta was at the house with Seiya. Picking them up he had Khilu sit staring at the well while he changed. As the demon changed his daughter asked, “Papa, how come Rin and I don’t have a mommy?”
Stopping a few seconds before his shoes were completely tied, Sesshomaru asked, “What does having a mother matter? You have your father and I, is that not enough?” His voice was harder than he had meant it to be. The child was curious and she had a right. He’d talked to some of the parent’s when he took her to the park to play with their friends. While his personality led them to the conclusion that he was a person who was not the most sociable being to ever exist. But, as he watched Khilu play, he noticed most of the children were there with their mother’s.
It was coming close to the time to discuss how Khilu was born and why she didn’t have a mother, yet with Seiya being mad at him for his ‘joke,’ the timing may not be the best. Double checking his shoes, Sesshomaru turned, picked the child up, and headed into the well where on the other side he found the shrine to be empty. Holding Khilu close, Sesshomaru leapt out with the parcel he had created for his clothes before picking the child up, and landed silently on the dirt covered floor. Setting her down, Sesshomaru took hold of her hand as he made his way out of the temple grounds. He had no patience to deal with the clan of human’s that night since he wanted to discuss things with Seiya and Rin.
The train ride was quick that night, some of the stops were under maintenance forcing the train to continue on with it’s other destinations. Khilu hadn’t asked about having a mother again the whole trip. She knew that she had hit a subject that her parent’s weren’t ready to talk about and instead focused on a coloring book she’d brought. The demon watched his child use the crayons she had carefully. Although she colored certain things in colors that would be deemed unnatural, she was careful to stay in the lines and when she felt she would be shaken, she lifted the crayon before starting up again.
Hearing their stop, Sesshomaru took Khilu’s hand and led her up the stairs near the exit. On the surface, Sesshomaru sighed heavily saying, “Khilu, I promise you that someday soon your Father and I will tell you why you don’t have a mother.” The child looked up at her father asking why he sounded so sad about having to tell her. Chuckling, Sesshomaru led her down the street near their neighborhood saying, “It is not sadness in my voice. It is frustration child. The answer to your question isn’t an easy one to give so it’s hard to find the best way to tell you it in a manner you would understand.”
Pulling hard on her Papa’s arm, Khilu happily sang, “I don’t need a mommy cuz I have two daddy’s.” Chuckling, Sesshomaru found Souta to be sitting in the living room laughing loudly at Rin who was laughing with him. Opening the door, Sesshomaru heard the house grow silent as soon as his foot was inside the frame. Shoving her way past her father, Khilu bolted into the living room shouting, “Uncle Souta!” A loud grunt came from the human as Khilu began pelting him with questions.
Not bothering to give his daughters a look, Sesshomaru made his way up the stairs into the bedroom to find Seiya snoring amidst two clumps of fur and the blankets. Snapping his fingers, Sesshomaru at forced Pup to remove herself from Seiya’s stomach as Tater continued to drip drool onto the floor. Creeping to the bed, Sesshomaru gently slid onto the mattress before kissing his mate’s neck.
“If you think I’m going to forgive you, you’re sorely mistaken.” Sei’s voice was heavy with sleep, but that didn’t stop Sesshomaru from trying to get the human to loosen up a bit. So he continued to kiss the nape of the human’s neck along with his earlobes. Sighing with a heavy mix of pleasure and frustration, Seiya muttered, “Okay, I’m not as mad as I was, but if you stop I’ll kick you out of the bed for the night.”
Chuckling, Sesshomaru gave the human one last kiss saying, “It was meant to be taken as a joke. Are you so anxious for another child already?” Seiya shook his head while stating that another child would be fine, but it was the fact that Sesshomaru made him think the demon had gone into combat while carrying a child. Smirking, Sesshomaru breathed in his mate’s scent as he whispered, “I would never go into combat while with child.”
Rolling over, Seiya pinned his mate down and gave the demon a small kiss saying happily, “I know you won’t do anything stupid like that. Not after what happened when we were in Canada.” Sesshomaru’s face fell from the comment. Nearly four years later, Seiya liked to torment the demon with his exploits from when they were courting and when the demon was pregnant. After his latest guilt comment, Seiya got off the bed asking, “What do we tell Rin about Shippou? That you nearly killed him? Or that you’re allowing them to date? Or how about both?”
Sesshomaru put his legs over the side of the bed staring coldly at his husband. Curling his lip the demon asked, “How about I cut out your tongue so that I never have to hear your rude, sarcastic comments ever again boy?” Raising his claw the demon flexed the limb stating, “These claws are as sharp as ever so it will only hurt as much as I want it to hurt.”
Flipping the demon his middle finger, Seiya left the room followed closely by Pup while Tater turned his head as if to tell the demon to let him sleep. Flicking the dogs nose, Sesshomaru said, “Be lucky that I don’t let you freeze outside.” Barking in retort, Tater went back to his nap as Khilu came up the stairs dragging Souta up with her. “What do you think you’re doing?” Sesshomaru asked as Khilu said hello to him.
“Daddy told us to leave you, him, and Rin alone. So I’m going to go play dolls with Uncle Souta.” Growling at the boy, Sesshomaru went downstairs to find Rin sitting quietly as Seiya did the same. Stepping in, Sesshomaru took a seat in a recliner waiting for one of them to make the first move.
It seemed that Rin was the one with enough guts to start off the conversation. “Papa said that we had something important to discuss father?” Sesshomaru remained in his perfectly postured position, nodding slightly. Gulping Rin asked, “Does what we must discuss deal with what happened on Halloween?” Sesshomaru nodded again making Rin burst out, “I’ve already told you that what happened was an accident and we haven’t seen or talked to each other since because we were afraid of...”
Sesshomaru raised his hand saying, “I don’t care about you kissing him. It is natural, I myself acted on impulse when I marked your father.” Sesshomaru gave Seiya a small smirk making the human blush before continuing. “The problem lies in both you and the fox knew the rules we placed down and yet you knowingly broke them.”
Rin nodded looking sad at being reminded of doing something like that. She knew that her parents were only looking out for her by keeping her from the mating. Had Shippou been a human there wouldn’t have been a problem but with him being a demon there were much greater risks. Looking up she said, “I know I went too far this time. But, you both know we would have stopped. Shippou didn’t want to ruin any chance of us being together and the same went for me.”
Snorting a bit, Seiya softly said, “We know that you two would have stopped. And there’s no doubt we were a bit hard on you. Our home is mainly in this time and things are different here, but the fact remains that you broke the trust we placed in you.” Finishing his statement, Seiya looked to Sesshomaru for confirmation and received a small nod from his husband. Giving a heavy sigh, Seiya said happily, “But, despite that you’ve made up for it. So, with your father deeming Shippou worthy, we’ve decided that you and Shippou can begin courting.”
Rin kept her eyes going between the two men. The two of them knew what was about to happen and sure enough the two were tackled to the floor with her squealing out her thanks. When she stopped, Seiya gasped out, “Okay, you’re welcome. Just go and ask if Souta is staying for dinner.” Running up the stairs to tell them the news, Seiya went into the kitchen to dial up some take out. Picking himself up off the floor, Sesshomaru sat down at the table just as Seiya hung up the phone. “You are going to do the dishes.”
Later that evening after dinner was done, Seiya was sitting at the table sipping a cup of milk as Sesshomaru did the manual labor for the evening. The two had been talking for some time when Khilu came downstairs clinging to her stuffed bunny. The couple asked what she wanted. Upon being asked the child belted out, “Do babys come out of where I go pee?”
Breaking a plate, Sesshomaru dug the bits of porcelain out of his hands while Shippou tried to keep from laughing. As he watched his husband tend to his wounds, Seiya put Khilu in his lap saying, “Well they come out of an area near where you pee from. Because boys and girls are different. Boys have something called a penis and girls have a vagina and well babys grow inside of a girl’s body for about nine months. And how the baby begins to grow is a boy and girl do a special hug, much like the one you saw me and Papa doing that night we yelled at you for coming into our room without knocking.”
Staring up at her Papa the child asked, “So, Papa’s the girl?” Sesshomaru gripped the edge of the sink as Seiya explained that Sesshomaru was a boy not a girl. Scratching her head, Khilu said, “So does that mean a boy’s body part has to go into a girl?”
Nodding, Seiya said happily, “Yes that’s right. But, you have to wait until you’re in love like me and Papa.” Khilu said that she would which made Seiya kiss her head as he said, “Well that won’t happen for a long, long time cutie. But when you do, there’s a chance that you’ll become a mommy.”
Hopping down, Khilu went to Sesshomaru and hugged his leg saying, “Okay, I won’t ask about why I don’t have a mommy anymore.” Making her way across the kitchen, Khilu kissed Seiya good night while dragging her bunny up the stairs. Seiya smirked at Sesshomaru who was feeling enraged at his daughter thinking he was a woman. The human was about to go comfort him when the sound of a door opening was followed by Khilu shouting, “UNCLE SOUTA YOU LIED! YOU SAID I WAS BORN BECAUSE DADDY PUT HIS PENIS IN PAPA’S BUTT!”
