For the sake of clarity, Lossonaur and Michael are the same person.

Chapter 58

“Michael! Sheena! Get back into this house immediately!” Kagome rushed down the stairs chasing after a pair of wet naked four-year olds. Lossonaur, or Michael as he was called by most of the family, had taken to teasing his aunt while taking a bath with his cousin. The girl, Sheena followed after him as usual and the two had just made it onto the lawn when Inuyasha plucked both children up and handed their daughter over to his wife. Taking the kicking girl, Kagome gripped one of her dog ears and hissed, “You are in serious trouble young lady.” She then looked at her nephew and said, “Wait till your father gets here.”

The boy stopped his kicking and allowed himself to be taken up into the bathroom and cleaned with no fuss. After drying off he got into his pajamas and went downstairs with Inuyasha while Kagome punished Sheena. Both Inuyasha and Lossonaur heard a few hard smacks to the girls backside, some whines, and then down she came with her mother. Kagome sent her into the living room, as Inuyasha changed the movie he had on as the language and violence in it were going to reach a level beyond what the children were used to. When Lossonaur said that he was enjoying the movie, Inuyasha patted the kids head telling him, “Kid, that movie is about to get into things that my brother would kill me for letting you see. So instead we’ll watch this.”

Settling down next to his uncle, the boy gave a cheer as Lilo & Stitch came onto the television. Sheena came out of the kitchen where she had been getting juice and climbed into her father’s lap shortly before Kagome brought out some iced tea. Taking the glass thankfully, Inuyasha took a sip and set it down on the table asking, “Did these brats give you a hard time?” Stroking her husbands ears, Kagome said that other than them running around outside naked, they were good for the most part. Purring a little, Inuyasha held her hand telling her, “Had to get a little rough with one of the people in that council today.”

Since Sheena and Lossonaur were preoccupied with the movie, Inuyasha put his daughter down on the ground and went to change into some house clothes. Because he’d taken to spending a great deal of time in the future, Inuyasha’s wardrobe had taken a massive one-eighty. Instead of the same old fire-rat clothes he wore during their journeys, he now had a collection of suits and casual clothes for varying situations. Mainly because it would draw less attention, and also since Sesshomaru had announced that his brother still maintained control over what was once his forest, Inuyasha had to look the part of a modern business-man.

Upstairs, Inuyasha stripped out of his suit and threw on a pair of sweats and a tee-shirt. Just as Kagome came in she noticed a deep cut on his arm, tutting she went to get the first-aid kit only to be stopped. Looking at her husband she asked, “Why? You need it clean and I want to hear the story about how you got into a fight during a meeting.” Hearing that it had already been cleaned, Kagome told him, “Then let me put a bandage on it so Sheena doesn’t have to see dried blood on your arm.” Grabbing a bandage she put it around the wound, clipped it, and then asked, “So tell me what happened.” Deciding it best to keep an eye on the kids, Inuyasha took her down into the kitchen before beginning his story.

After Sesshomaru had dropped off Lossonaur, he and Inuyasha made their way into downtown Tokyo where the demon council building was located. It stood as high as any human office building, and most of the staff consisted of demons or half-breeds. Each floor was set up to be a base of operations for the different clans of demons that lived in Japan. Although normally this would require hundreds of floors, to save space the distant relatives for each clan had to share floors with their brethren. Such arrangements included the Dog clan sharing the same floor as the Wolf Tribe and other relatives of the canine group. So, needless to say it wasn’t uncommon for Inuyasha’s and Kouga’s tempers to result in a shouting match. Had they been outside the building, it would have turned into a fist fight, but the place was neutral ground meaning no violence was allowed.

Separating, from his brother, Inuyasha was forced to go into a private meeting with some demons wanting to stay in his territory. The problem was that, they were bats who still beared a grudge against his brother and Seiya. In the room he sat down at the small table and waited. He still had an hour to wait and even then the demons he had to meet with decided to arrive three hours later than the agreed upon time. They offered no apology, nor any form of excuse, All their leader did was sit down and say, “Here are our terms.”

Snorting, Inuyasha listened as the bats explained the situation. Since there area had gone into a recent economic crisis they needed some extra money to help their clan with it’s territorial preservation. It seemed reasonable, but when Inuyasha saw that it was mainly to kick people from their homes and sell off the property he told them, “These buildings are in my name, and mean that I choose who stays and who goes.” Pointing at a few he said, “And, not to mention getting rid of a hospice set up by my brother-in-laws grandfather, and a rehabilitation center, you are clearly over stepping any legal boundaries set up by this place.

Baring his fangs, the leader pulled out a package that had a familiar lingering sent to it. Knocking it to the side, Inuyasha told them, “I don’t care if you guys offer me gold. I’m not allowing you entrance into my..hurgh!” he was cut off by the demon rushing forward and stabbing its claw directing into his upper bicep. Growling, Inuyasha took his right claw and snapped the demons wrist like a twig and threw him into a nearby picture. The glass shattered and the demon fell to the ground while the other bat made its tried to get at Inuyasha.

It was stopped by Tokijin being set against it’s throat and slicing gently into the skin. Sesshomaru’s eyes blood thirsty as he ominously spoke, “Leave, and do not attempt any more contacts with my clan or I shall have every one of you rats slaughtered.” The bat in the corner stood up, cradling it’s broken wrist as it hobbled out. The henchmen followed quickly behind it’s leader, slamming the door so hard that the rest of the pictures fell to the ground.

Putting the sword back into its sheath, Sesshomaru climbed down from the table, gave his brother’s arm a look, and then left without a word. Taking his jacket off, Inuyasha went into the office he was forced to share with Sesshomaru and began to clean the wound. While cleaning the wound, Inuyasha smelt the approach of his brother and put away the first aid kit so that he could change his clothes. During the time he spent buttoning up his new shirt, Inuyasha watched as his brother ripped open the package, only to shut it moments later.

The sudden wafting scent of decay and lizard immediately spoke a great deal to the two demons. Calling up one of the younger demons, Sesshomaru had the package disposed of so that he could focus on his work. Inuyasha opened his mouth to speak, yet was cut off by a deep growl from his brother. Shrugging it off, the half-breed said, “No wonder it took us so long to figure out what happened to him. How long ago do you think he was killed?” Sesshomaru told the half-breed that by the amount of decay to the skull, it had to have been shortly after Lossonaur was born. Putting on his new coat, Inuyasha sat back down in his chair in silence so that they could finish their work.

In their home, Kagome was holding a cup of tea as her husband finished the story. Setting it down, she whispered, “Jaken must have died protecting the secret of the well.” When asked why that was a reason, Kagome responded with, “Think about it Inuyasha. Sesshomaru gone all the time and leaving his kingdom in the hands of Koura. His enemies probably took him captive shortly after they came back with Michael. Hell it’s been nearly four years since they went to the castle.” Taking a sip of her tea, Kagome then said, “OF course, it is understandable about them not traveling back and forth all the time. With Michael and Khilu both in school, they can’t travel like that anymore. Especially with Seiya’s book taking off and the work that needs to be done here.”

Just as they finished that portion of the conversation, Lossonaur rushed upstairs scaring Buyo Two out his mind. While the cat cowered in Kagome’s lap, Inuyasha shouted up, “Hey, Twerp! What the heck are you running around for!?” The kid made no reply, goading Inuyasha to go into Sheena’s room to find the boy putting his stuff into his bag. Sitting down in his usual dog-like manner, Inuyasha asked, “What are you getting all that ready for?”

His question was answered with Sheena shouting, “Uncle Sesshy!” Nearly falling on his face, Inuyasha picked the bag and his nephew up using only one arm. Downstairs he found his brother giving Sheena a small present as Lossonaur began kicking. When Inuyasha dropped the squirming child into his brother’s arm, Sheena asked, “Uncle Sesshy, how come you smell like flowers?” Lossonaur and Inuyasha both started sniffing the dog demon intently.

Growling, Sesshomaru told them, “I got Seiya a flower on my way back from the office. Now will you stop smelling me?” Lossonaur nuzzled his father’s neck and held onto him as he asked, “Did he take a bath?” Kagome said that he did, but in the middle of it the two of them got out of the bath and ended up rolling around in the dirt a little bit. Staring at his son, Sesshomaru told him, “What have I told you about misbehaving for your aunt?”

The boys ears folded down against his head. Burying his face into the demon’s shoulder he said, “Next time I do it I have to give up my drums for a month.” Telling the boy that he was correct, Sesshomaru thanked the couple, said goodbye to his niece, and went out to the car. As he was putting his son into his toddler seat that was set up in the back, the boy asked, “Is Daddy home yet?” When he heard that his father didn’t know, Lossonaur gave a loud yawn and asked for his stuffed tanooki.

As his son snuggled with his stuffed animal, Sesshomaru turned the radio on low and pulled out of the driveway. The streets were a bit busier since it was a Friday, making the demon bite his tongue to keep from cursing. Once out of the city, the roads cleared up and he made the hour long trip to their home. He normally bring any of the children into the city during the week, but Kagome had asked to spend the time with the boy, and Seiya had given into her incessant whines.

The town where they lived had a pretty active nightlife. The high schoolers and college kids who were home for the Summer were at either the movies or at some of the local clubs. It was fairly safe, but there was the occasional disturbance that involved the police. Mainly a few people had one to many drinks and starting fights in the streets or at the bars. They were glad that Rin was raised better than that, yet she had moved out a couple of years before and was currently living in Tokyo with a few of her friends. In fact, that was one of the reasons Sesshomaru had been so late picking up Lossonaur.

Rose in hand, Sesshomaru was leaving the flower shop when Rin appeared with a couple of her friends. It was pure coincidence that they ran into each other, but the girl was embarrassed all the same. Her friends began to blush and giggle at the sight of Sesshomaru. They knew who he was, and also about Seiya, in fact they were frequent visitors when Rin lived at home. Smirking at his daughter the demon asked, “Where are you off to this evening?”

Curling her lip, Rin crossed her arms telling her father, “We’re going to dinner, and then we’re meeting up with Shippou and a couple of others for a date.” Seeing the demons eyes widen slightly, Rin smirked telling him, “We aren’t taking anybody home. All we’ll be doing is seeing a movie and probably get a drink.” It wasn’t unusual for Sesshomaru to threaten Shippou when he learned that the fox would be taking the girl out on a date. Just because she had a job and was living on her own, did not give the fox free reign over her. After about five years of dating, the fox was painfully aware of the consequences should he bond with the girl without the consent of her parents.

Hearing his daughter ask why he wasn’t at home, Sesshomaru told the girl, “Your brother is at Inuyasha’s and I have to go and pick him up.” Raising the rose he’d just bought, Sesshomaru told her, “I also thought your father may like this.” The blush on Rin’s companions face was priceless, so Sesshomaru added, “I’m hoping we’ll get to lock the door later.” That broke Rin’s final nerve and she told her friends to head to the restaurant. When they were gone, Sesshomaru told her, “We were invited up to Robert’s tomorrow and I expect you to be there.”

Rin agreed before asking, “Are you okay, Father? You seem a bit preoccupied.” After she asked the question, the girl was told that he’d just had a long day and they learned about Jaken. Holding a hand to her mouth, she nodded asking, “How did you find out?” The demon went on to tell her that some bat demons had brought in his skull and the staff in order to threaten Inuyasha into giving up some territory. Twisting her face, Rin told her father, “I hope they all die.”

Placing his hand on the girls head, Sesshomaru told her, “I did not wish to ruin your evening. But, since you happened to run into me, the urge to tell you just slipped out.” He was asked if Seiya knew about it to which Sesshomaru said, “I called him shortly after I left and we decided not to mention it anymore. We found out and that’s a great relief.” Looking over his shoulder, Sesshomaru told his daughter, “Your friends are watching so you’d best run along. I will see you tomorrow.”

Now back home, Sesshomaru heard the dogs barking at seeing him pull in. Expecting Khilu to sic the dogs on him, the demon remained in the car as Khilu snuck out leaving the dogs stuck in the house. Running up to the door she knocked on the window asking, “Are we really visiting Grandma and Grandpa tomorrow?” As it was confirmed, the girl shrieked in delight until she spotted the rose. “Is that for Papa,” she asked innocently.

Telling her that she was correct, Sesshomaru told her to take his bag and the flower into the house while he took care of her brother. Opening the car door, he unfastened the boy from his seat and tried to pull him out, earing him a kick in the shoulder. When he got the boy out, Sesshomaru flicked his ear making him whine. Grabbing the bag, Sesshomaru told the boy, “You do that again and I’ll tan your hide.” The boy rubbed his eyes apologizing while being carried into the house. Setting the boy down, Sesshomaru allowed the dogs to bark at them before Seiya shouted down for the dogs to be quiet. Lossonaur told them to be quiet and the dogs deep barks dropped to low grunts.

Going upstairs with Pup and Tater on his heels, the boy said goodnight to Kiba who was documenting some papers for Sesshomaru. The clicks reaching his ears, Sesshomaru went into the living room asking where Shiba and Jakotsu had run off to. Setting the pen on the upper part of his ear, Kiba told his lord, “A few of those ladies Jakotsu works with invited them out for a girls night.” Being asked why he hadn’t left for a night out when Seiya came back, Kiba told Sesshomaru, “My friends go out on Saturdays, so I’ll be heading out tomorrow night if that is okay?”

Saying that he had no problem as they would be out for most of the day, Sesshomaru walked upstairs and began peeling off his human dress clothes. He’d picked up the rose off the kitchen table before coming up and found Seiya dozing in and out of sleep. Pulling off his clothes, Sesshomaru dressed in a pair of pajama bottoms and a white tank top. Putting the rose in his mouth, Sesshomaru crawled across the bed and dropped it on his mate’s face. Seiya opened the eye closest to the pillow and told his mate that he wasn’t cute.

Putting the rose on bedside table, Sesshomaru pulled up the comforter and turned his mate onto his back. Whining loudly, Seiya asked as his mate started to nibble on his neck, “Shouldn’t you lock the door?” Hearing the familiar crack of Sesshomaru’s whip against the door, Seiya laughed when the demon’s claw began to gently stroke his skin. But as usual, before they could get any further than a few kisses and strokes, the sound of an eight and four year old making noise at eleven o’clock had them go into parent mode. Seiya pulled on one of his many long sleeved shirts and went into Khilu’s room asking loudly, “What are you two doing?”

The scraping of dog claws across the hardwood floor, had Sesshomaru’s eyes take in the dogs rushing downstairs, while Seiya began dragging a giggling Lossonaur into his room. Rolling out from the mess of sheets, Sesshomaru went into Khilu’s room and found her reading a scrap of paper. Having her father’s scent fill her nose, the girl held it up asking, “Why does Dad have to go on a long trip?” Having her father ask what she meant, Khilu pointed at a paragraph saying, “Dad showed me this paper that says he has to go to another country about his book. Does he really have to go?”

Sitting down on the bed, Sesshomaru had her sit in his lap while he read the paper. When he was through he set his chin on her head telling her, “He does have to leave for a bit, but right here tells us he’ll be back in time to take you and Lossonaur to your first day of school.” Hearing Khiliu sniffle, Sesshomaru growled saying, “He’s left us before and come back. You know that he wouldn’t abandon us and your crying will not help the situation so I suggest you stop.”

Sniffling again, Khilu wiped her eyes saying, “I know that, but what about you? Last time he left you got really sick and Lossonaur almost died.” Turning she buried her face into the demon’s shoulder crying, “I don’t want to see you cough up blood again.” The outburst had Sesshomaru pull the girl in close and whisper words of comfort into her ears. As Sesshomaru told her he wouldn’t get sick, Khilu looked up asking, “Promise? Do you promise that you won’t get sick?”

Giving her a rare warmth filled smile, Sesshomaru kissed her forehead telling her, “I swear to you that I won’t get sick, and that your papa will come back to us.” Only problem with him promising the girl that Seiya would come back, Lossonaur began to shout that he didn’t want Seiya to leave. Putting Khilu under the covers, Sesshomaru kissed her goodnight and shut off her light as he walked into find Lossonaur clinging to Seiya’s shirt. The demon knew what had happened and decided to leave them alone, but was stopped by Lossonaur asking why Seiya had to leave.

Setting the boy underneath the covers, Seiya told him, “Look, you need to be a big boy and stop crying.” As his son began to choke back tears the human told the child, “You’ll still have Papa, Auntie Jakotsu, Kagome, Inuyasha, Grandma, Grandpa, and a lot of other people around while I’m gone. But,” he added as Lossonaur squeezed his stuffed Tanooki, “I need you to watch out for Papa while I’m gone. There’s a chance he might get sick and you need to be there with your sisters to make him feel better.” Seiya could feel the daggers emit from Sesshomaru’s eyes as he explained about what happens when he and Sesshomaru stay apart for long periods of time.

Huffing, Lossonaur loudly told Seiya, “I’m gonna protect Papa and the girls all by myself!” Smirking, Sesshomaru told the boy that he’d better stop crying if he wanted to protect the house. Wiping his tears away, Lossonaur told his father, “I’m going to protect you guys and do it without any help!” He then proceeded to crawl under the blankets and tell them to leave him alone. Seiya patted him on the head through the blankets and said goodnight to him before shutting off the light. When Lossonaur stuck his head out of the covers he said, “No more nightlight!”

Pulling the light out, Sesshomaru shut the door and said, “I give him half an hour before he starts whining about monsters in the closet.” As they left, Seiya rubbed his head remembering what had happened when Jakotsu, Shiba, and Kiba had been left in charge a couple of months prior. Lossonaur had walked in as they watched a horror movie from before he was born. The sight of a clown doll riding a bike out from a closet had the boy sleeping in between the two men for a week and needing an extra nightlight in his room because he thought he’d be taken away by the doll.

Back in their room, Seiya crawled back under the covers and tried to get a good nights sleep. He’d spent the whole day in meetings discussing his American book tour. He had done small tour around Japan that earned his book the little notice it had around the country. But, with the United States tour, Seiya was preparing for a two month twenty city tour. The company that was promoting the book state side had him lined up for a lot of big talk shows, and some local news shows all around the country. Only problem was he had to put it into writing that nobody would use his family to enhance the sales of the book. While sales were important to Seiya, exploiting his family was a crime he was unwilling to commit.

Under the covers, Seiya was ready to doze off until Sesshomaru started to undo his sweats. Chuckling, Seiya asked why the demon was in such an energetic mood. Poking his head out from under the covers, Sesshomaru kissed his husband telling him, “If you don’t want me around I can leave.” Getting hit in the head, the demon set his arms on each side of his mates head stroking the hair gently. Being asked what the problem was again, Sesshomaru kissed his mate asking, “Do you think our health will suffer because of this trip you must go on?”

Gazing up at the amber eyes, Seiya put on a small smile telling the demon, “I don’t think it’ll be that bad. Not like when you were pregnant with Lossonaur. You’re stronger now, and also not pregnant which’ll vastly improve our chances of not getting sick.” Finding his mates words comforting, Sesshomaru let his arms give out so that he landed directly on top of Seiya knocking the wind out of the human. Brushing some of the shoulder length silver-hair away from his face, Seiya turned off the lamp and spent most of the night struggling for breath as his mate slept directly on top of him.

Next morning, Seiya was woken by the clanging of dishes from down in the kitchen. Glad to find Sesshomaru sleeping next to him, Seiya got out of bed and headed down to see Jakotsu making breakfast for the children. When greeted, the family guardian nodded politely telling Seiya, “A package was dropped of for you an hour ago.” Seeing it on the table, Seiya allowed Lossonaur into his lap before ripping it open. Out of it dropped plane ticket with a small stack of papers. Catching a glimpse, Jakotsu asked, “Is that from those people you met with last night?”

Taking the plane ticket away from his son, Seiya looked it over telling the cross-dresser, “Yeah, looks like they want me in Washington in a couple of weeks so I can start talking about it. Then after that,” he looked at the small stack before continuing. “It looks like after some of the shows there it’s off to Los Angeles for a couple of big time talk shows.” When Jakotsu asked what shows he was to go on, Seiya squinted through the massive amounts of print before saying, “Looks like Ellen and the Tonight Show. Good, that means I get to meet Conan O’Brien.”

Jakotsu set down a bowl filled with eggs and along with some sausage and toast. After serving himself, the feminine male put some onto the plates of the children before asking, “I take it these two are okay with you leaving for such a long trip?” Khilu and Lossonaur both told him that they were and would do their best to take care of Sesshomaru. Taking a bite of egg, Jakotsu told Lossonaur, “Are you sure you can protect him from the clown on the bike?”

Sticking his nose up in an INuyasha like manner, Lossonaur nodded saying, “I slept all night without my light. And that clown doesn’t scare me anymore Auntie.” Smiling he said, “I can rip him to shreds if he tries to hurt Papa.” The comment got a loud laugh from Jakotsu who filled a glass with juice and took a sip. Biting into his own toast, Lossonaur looked at the plane ticket asking, “Is, Seattle a far away place Daddy? Because I heard Kiba tell Khilu it’s all the way across the ocean.”

Taking a piece of toast from his sons plate, Seiya managed to muffle out, “It’s one whole days worth of flying.” Swallowing, he gingerly rubbed his sons hair telling him, “So when I call the first time, I’m going to be very tired and won’t be able to talk long.” Finishing the toast, Seiya looked at the clock and asked, “IF you two have finished packing your bags, you can go and wake your father up if you want. Just don’t take the dogs with you.” At the prospect of what the adults dubbed, “Sesshomaru Torture,” the two children left the table, shot up the stairs, and after a moment the shouts of a wrestling match from the master bedroom filled the house.

Coming out from the basement bedroom, Kiba yawned loudly and tried to talk only to realize he’d somehow slipped into his dog form. Changing back, he looked up the main stairs just as one blonde pup, and a medium sized black dog tumbled down the stairs and rushed out the door as a white blur chased them out the opened back door. Blinking at the back yard, Kiba scratched himself asking, “I guess you had them wake him up in the usual manner?”

With the question asked, Khilu and Lossonaur walked in looking glum as Sesshomaru held them by the ears and walked them to the stairs saying, “Go and get dressed.” The children climbed up the stairs saying nothing as Sesshomaru followed them to go and get dressed. The three adults in the kitchen laughed to themselves while the children opened and closed their drawers a bit too loudly. Moments later, Sesshomaru appeared wearing some shorts and a tee-shirt. Standing at the foot of the stairs he told his husband “If you’re coming with us then you’d better get ready.”

After finishing a light breakfast, Seiya got dressed and was loading the children into the car while Sesshomaru put the bags into the trunk. With the car loaded, Seiya got into the front seat while his life long companion took the passenger side. It was now ta quarter after eleven and the family had a forty-five minute drive to Robert’s. Driving along, Seiya asked the kids what they wanted to listen to. Looking up from his coloring book, Lossonaur shouted out, “I wanna hear ‘Iron Man!’”

“We listened to that last time.” Piped up Khilu from her seat behind Sesshomaru. Leaning forward she said, “I wanna hear ‘S&M,’ because I know Papa likes hearing that more than Ozzy.” When asked if he was okay with the choices, Sesshomaru said that they would do some of Khilu’s songs than listen to what Lossonaur wanted to listen to. Khilu tried her best to hug the demon from behind the seat only to give up and gloat at her brother, “See, I told you Papa wasn’t much of an Ozzy fan.” Lossonaur just stuck out his tongue and kept to his book while the music began to make its way out of the speakers.
Later, after most changing the CD’s twice, Seiya stopped the car in front of his father’s house being met by his brother running out the door. Reaching his brother, Yari attached himself to Seiya’s leg sternly telling him, “You were supposed to be here an hour ago.” Receiving an apology from his brother, Yari felt a sharp smack on his head as Khilu told him he couldn’t talk to her father that way. Making a face at his niece, Yari crossed his arms explaining to the girl, “I’m his brother so I can talk to him that way. And you aren’t supposed to hit people older than you.” Getting her bag from the trunk, Khilu went into the house silently as Lossonaur climbed onto the back of his uncle.

“Giddyap!” commanded Lossonaur wrapping his arms around the humans neck. Bending over at the suddne weight, Yari made his way up the stairs into the house releasing a couple of cats as the dogs barked at the company. Going into the house, Seiya had his step-mother squeezing him almost immediately, she first had to kick one of the dogs out of the way so that she could congratulate her son on his book tour. Lossonaurs voice sprung up from the kitchen at hearing the weeps of happiness. “And it’s my job to protect the girls and Papa!”

Robert came out of the kitchen telling his grandson, “We know, you’ve told us four times since you got in the door.” Lossonaur stuck his tongue out at his grandfather, and then ran to the backyard as the man made his way to the boy. When the door clicked shut, Robert pulled his son into a hug before saying to Sesshomaru, “I heard you had some trouble yesterday?” Getting an odd look the man quickly added, “Jiro was at the building talking to Koura about something and as you know, gossip does travel quickly.”
Setting a bag in the living room, Sesshsomaru went off to keep an eye on the kids as Seiya sat down to talk with his father.

In Robert’s office, the man poured his son a drink while saying cooly, “We’re all worried about you travelling like this. It seems nobody can help but remember the last time you left us. “ Handing over the water, Robert took the seat behind his desk and sat back to look at his son. “You know,” he absent mindedly said, “I never expected you to actually have a best selling book. I always thought you’d go and do theater work or keep on at that newspaper you interned at.” Robert’s face turned to a smile when his son inquired as to what he meant by theater work to which the man replied, “Well I remember all your teachers complimenting you on your performances and you seemed to enjoy it. But, since you think in pictures, which I’m told is key to doing stage performances, you took to writing and I’m glad you’re succeeding.”

“That also means I have to leave my husband and kids alone for two months.” Seiya chuckled setting his glass down. “Lossonaur and Khilu both threw a fit about me leaving and at least Lossonaur is handling it.” Giving a deep sigh, Seiya added, “Khilu though still has memories from when Sesshomaru got sick, and I have a suspicion she’ll be acting worse than Sesshomaru acted when the kids were first born.” The flashes of the demon keeping a hawks eye on every person as the came near there newborn children was a funny sight, but disturbing all the same.

Putting his brandy sifter on the corner of his desk, Robert got up from behind the desk saying, “The good thing is that they’ll be well protected. That Jakotsu is a demon in his own right. Not to mention those twin dog demons you have hanging around. So, by my calculations,” he faked doing some math, “your home’ll be almost impossible to take over.” Laughing at his own wit, Robert left his son alone in the office so that he could keep an eye on the children making all the noise in the back yard.

The day had passed slowly. It seemed to take forever for time to go by, and finally it was time for the Sesshomaru and Seiya brood to leave. With him leaving in only two weeks, Seiya was anxious to go home and get packed for his trip. Michelle had made it clear that Seiya was to come home before he left so that she could say goodbye to him before leaving. After a heavy dinner, and many promises to make sure they saw him before they left, Seiya sat waiting in the passengers seat as Sesshomaru talked to Robert about something.

The talk lasted only a few minutes, and Sesshomaru waved goodbye to Yari and Michelle as he got into the drivers side. Although it was only nine o’clock, both Khilu and Lossonaur were knocked out in their respective seats. The drive home was silent, Sesshomaru kept his music on low while Seiya checked his cell phone for messages. He didn’t know he’d left it off in the car while they were at his fathers and he had four messages all from Rin.

He didn’t listen to them. Instead he opted to wait until they got home so that he could ask if Rin was supposed to visit with them. The question was soon answered, since they spotted Rin’s car sitting in the driveway after turning onto the property. The bump from the curb shook Khilu from her dozing and she cheered when seeing her sister’s car at the house. Mad at being woken up, Lossonaur tried to hit her with his stuffed animal, but missed and went right back to sleep. After the car was parked, Khilu got out of her seat and rushed into the house as Seiya went to remove his son from the car.

Opting to leave the bags in the car overnight, Sesshomaru headed straight in the house to a mix of giggles from four women. Raising an eyebrow, the demon lord asked Shiba, “Is your brother staying out all night?” Shiba said that he would be back sometime the next morning and that she would be spending the next few days at home. Turning to Rin he asked her, “Didn’t I specifcially tell you to meet us at your grandfather’s home?” Receiving no answer, Sesshomaru repeated the question in a much louder tone.

Rin and Khilu stopped talking so that Rin could say, “Well, my friend had a hangover and she needed somebody to stay with her since my other roommate had taken an extra shift today.” Putting her sister in her lap, Rin added, “She just got done working a couple of hours ago and I came right over here. Didn’t you get my messages on Papa’s phone?” Spotting Seiya walking behind Sesshomaru, Rin asked, “Papa did you tell Father I couldn’t make it?”

Seiya stopped in his tracks with a yawing Lossonaur standing next to him rubbing his eyes. Holding up the phone he said, “I left my phone in the car all day and just found out that you left messages a couple minutes before we got home.” Getting a menacing glare from Sesshomaru, Seiya chuckled telling him, “The important thing is that she called. However it’s my fault that we didn’t receive her calls from the cell phone, but she could have called my fathers house to see if we were there.” Rin’s face showed her embarrassment as the man pointed out the second course of action she could have taken when she could not reach them by cell phone.

Keeping a yawn at bay, Rin shook her head happily saying, “On the plus side as of tomorrow I’m on vacation. So, I can make up for today by hanging around for the next week.” Sesshomaru said nothing and head up stairs leaving the girl to ask, “Is Father feeling all right?” Explaining to her that the demon was probably upset at Seiya leaving, Seiya put his son to bed as the girls and Jakotsu spent the night yakking up a storm about what they were going to be doing while Rin visited.

The first part of her agenda was to help Seiya prepare for his trip. Since he was going to be gone for a couple of months and hanging out in a couple of upscale crowds, he needed some new suits and a couple of tuxedos. Using Jakotsu, the man was able to get a couple of suits and tuxes made at a fair price. Normally the store Jakotsu worked for did women’s clothing, but they had a few people who could do menswear on hand for just such an occasion. Seiya told Rin that he had some suits at the dry cleaners. Snickering Rin told him, “Yeah, you have the one from your wedding and one from when Aunt Sara got married.”

Feeling a pin stick into his thigh, Seiya told Jakotsu to be careful where he was pinning up the pants. Pulling the final pin out of his mouth, Jakotsu marked where it needed work while telling the blond, “You know Seiya, I thought you’d be a bit more grateful that I’m putting aside most of my work for the next few days to get all of these suits fitted to your form.” Standing up he moved tot he front and began measuring his arms and chest muttering, “If you’d planned ahead, there wouldn’t be a reason for me to do a rush job.”

Before he could chew Jakotsu out, Seiya was sent to get his normal pants back on and to leave the store. Keeping quiet about the tailors lack of politeness, Seiya had to go and pick up his new passport. He’d had it renewed a month ago, and with his trip coming up he was thankful for the office doing rush jobs on passports. The line was surprisingly short at the office, and it only took ten minutes for them to get a window. Giving his name, Seiya watched the girls eyes bug and as she set his passport down, he spotted his book underneath it. Taking the pen from the counter, Seiya signed the book and thanked the girl while Rin kept herself from laughing at the slight bit of fame her father had.
With those errands done, Seiya spent the final days before his trip confirming all of his travel arrangements. Taking a sip of tea, Seiya spoke into the phone, “Okay, so I’ll see you in four days. Sea-Tac Airport gate four hundred-ninety-seven.” The person on the other end hung up, and Seiya clicked the phone off resisting the urge to throw it into the wall. Draining his cup, he put the phone back on the hook and stumbled up the stairs to climb into bed. He would be leaving the day after tomorrow and he was still in the middle of packing.

Jakotsu had finished his suits and those were all packed into a human size suitcase. Lossonaur and Khilu kept trying to put some of their clothes into his bags in an attempt to let him go on the trip with him. They whined each time their clothes were returned to their dressers telling him that they had tickets. When he asked to see him the children both gave the same answer of, “I lost it.” Now with his trip only two days away, he found his children sleeping in the bed along side Sesshomaru.

Giving no thought to how long they’d been sleeping in the bed, Seiya got into his pajamas and climbed into the bed. But first he had to move his sons head away from his side of the bed. After he moved the child, he climbed in, only to have the head end up right on his chest and the boy squeezing his ribs tightly. Leaning into the pillows, Seiya fell asleep only to be woken moments later by Khilu telling him that he had to get up because his plane was going to be leaving in a few hours.

for those thinking about why conan is hosting the tonight show, he is to be taking over for Leno in a few years. So the story is at that point.
