Chapter 19: Talent Show and a Dance

A week later, Kagome had figure out what she would do for the talent show, and what she was going to wear for the dance. The talent show was going to be held tomorrow and the dance is going to be held the day before Christmas break.

Kagome was going to do a small dance for the talent show. Today she practiced it over and over again. She made sure no one watched her. She also thought.

I love Inu Yasha, I know that. So during Christmas, I'm going home, I'm going home to Feudal Japan. I'll write a long letter to Draco and Hermione. Hopefully I'll be okay. I'm going to miss everyone here. I'm positive that Inu Yasha loves me too. Well, I better practice now, need to get this right!

Hermione looked at Draco during double Potions. He looked upset, and she knew why. Soon, the bell rang, and the classroom left, except Draco...

"Draco, are you upset about Kagome? If you want my opinion, I think she's confused and is making the wrong decision of leaving." Draco looked up at Granger, surprised.

"Your right Grang-Hermione, I don't want your opinion, but, t-t-thanks." Draco looked at her. "I hope that she'll be happy with whatever she does though." Hermione looked at Draco and nodded, "I agree, we all need to support her... well, better go to lunch. Bye!"

Kagome woke up to see the sun shinning in through her window. Today was the talent show, then tomorrow, the dance.

It was a lovely Saturday morning, with about 1.5 inches of snow covering the ground. The lake had a thin layer of ice on it and small snowflakes fell from the sky.

Kagome got up and put on a pair of jeans and a light pink sweater. The talent show started at noon and she was the first one up. Slowly she walked down the common room stairs and saw Draco.

"Draco, it's nice to see you. We haven't spoken for a while." Kagome said smiling at him. Draco looked at her coldly. "Oh really? To busy screwing a certain dog demon?" Kagome looked sad. "Draco, look, I'm sorry for giving you the impression that I liked you, really, but, I love Inu Yasha and-" "Even Hermione agrees with me, your still confused about who you like, let alone love. You should've never played with a cold persons heart Kagome. Now I believe that you're in the talent show? Good luck, I need to go get some breakfast, good bye."

Kagome stayed in the common room for a while. She felt bad just then for playing around with Malfoy. Well, he'd forgive her right? Right.

Kagome sighed as she walked down to breakfast. She only ate a few things then left to get ready for the talent show. Sure it would be at noon, but it was already 10. She needed to practice some more. Hopefully she would do well.

* I'm trying to think if I should go into detail about the talent show... *

At noon Kagome walked to the great hall with her costume for her act. The tables were gone and were the teachers usually sat there was a large stage with lots of chairs in front of it. Kagome walked around to find out where she could change. On her way there, she saw Draco, Crabbe, and Goyle up front, to make fun of people. Kagome sighed as she saw Draco smile.

"What are you thinking girl? You love Inu Yasha, not Draco." Kagome told herself as she finally spotted Professor McGonagall.

* nope, no detail*

Kagome won the show. She had done a small ballet performance to the song `No More Words'. Her costume was emerald green and black. The bodice was green and the bottom was a black tutu. Her Pointe shoes were black to match the costume.

She had gotten a large applause from everyone there, and a few whistles, Kagome got 30 galleons as a prize.

She sighed as she looked up at the ceiling of her four-poster bed. She knew that she needed to get some rest. The end of next week would be the dance, and then, then she got to go back home to see her dear Inu Yasha, and finish the jewel.

A week came and finally it was Friday, the day of the dance. Kagome smiled at her dress in the mirror. It was a long dress with slits that started at the middle of her thigh. The dress was a spaghetti strap and the color was a dark red. She wore a pair of black high heels. She put her hair up in a fancy bun with a few pieces of pair hanging by her face. She looked perfect.

She didn't want a date for the dance. She wanted to go alone. Draco watched her leave the room, his mouth was open as he saw how lovely she looked, even in Gryffindor colors.

Kagome walked down the steps and in threw the doors to the great hall. She gasped. It was decorated with Christmas trees and other things. Lee Jordan decided to dj the dance this year. Dumbledore gave him permission and now, there he was.

Kagome walked by a few tables by walls and looked for Hermione. She spotted her.

"Oh my god Kagome you look great!" Hermione squealed as she hugged her friend. Harry and Ron both gave her a small hug and asked her to sit down with them.

None of the knew that Draco was watching Kagome's every move. That he was almost in tears. He had heard her tell Hermione about her love that demon. Hermione didn't approve of the decision though.

Draco slipped away, actually, he was dragged away by Pansy who was hell bent on dancing with him.

Pretty soon, people were going to the dance floor. Ron and Hermione were dancing. Ginny and Dean were dancing. Draco and Pansy were together, although, one could tell Draco enjoyed none of it. Kagome and Harry were the only ones left at the table.

"So Harry... Ya wanna dance?" Kagome asked as she looked up at Harry. He nodded, "Sure, why not."

Harry grabbed Kagome's hand and led her out to the dance floor. The song was `Stand up'. Muggle, yes, did anyone care, no. Kagome and Harry dance through 3 songs together, then finally took a small break.

"Harry? Thanks for making this night a fun one so far." Kagome said looking at Harry as he sipped a small bit of Ron's drink. Harry smiled, "Your welcome Kagome, and thank you for making my night fun too, now, I better go save Hermione from Ron before her feet are no longer capable of functioning." Kagome laughed and nodded. When Harry left, Kagome scanned the room for Draco, she found him too. He was with Pansy and looked like he was going to throw up. Kagome sighed, "I better go rescue Draco before he does barf."

Kagome walked up to Draco and Pansy.

"Um, excuse me Pansy, but, may I cut in?" Kagome asked as she kindly moved Pansy away from Draco. She pouted, but back off.

"So, you came to save me?" Draco asked her as they twirled around. Kagome nodded. "Yeah, and, and I'm sorry. Tomorrow I'm leaving and going back to Japan. Tomorrow I'll leave and not return when the term starts after Christmas." Draco looked at her, shocked and hurt. "Going to go see your lover I suppose? Well, have fun. I won't try to keep in touch." Draco then left her. Kagome stopped and looked at where he went. She sighed and fought back tears. Then she heard a voice behind her.

"Kagome, I wish you luck. Now that Malfoy's heart has been shattered, he'll be cold hearted again, and continue to make my life hell." Kagome turned around to see Hermione.

"Hermione, look, I'm sorry. I-" "NO!" Hermione almost shouted at Kagome, "Look! I hate to admit this, but you hurt Malfoy a lot! He was so happy with you! He actually called me by my FIRST name! That means that he was changing, that he was not the cold hearted git that we thought he'd always be. But now, now he's gone back to his old self. So thank you, and good luck with that demon of yours."

Kagome let the tears fall as she then ran from the hall. She ran from the Great Hall and went to the Slytherain common room. She was going to leave now. Somehow...

Kagome back up her things and ran down to the fireplace. She looked around for some floo powder.

"Damn, now where's that-" "Floo powder?" A voice said. Kagome jumped and turned to see Dumbledore.

"Yeah." Kagome answered. "Kagome, I hope that you will return her, even though it is not in you plans." Dumbledore told her staring at her. Kagome let a tear slide down her cheek, "I'm not going to. I've caused too much pain. I almost made the two houses get along, I failed at that, now everyone's mad at me. I need to leave Sir. I'm sorry."

Dumbledore nodded and pulled out a bag of floo powder. "Here, Merry Christmas Kagome. I hope that you will have a happy future with Inu Yasha." Kagome nodded, "Thank you Professor Dumbledore, I will. I hope you do too." And with that, she left.

Dumbledore let one small tear trail down his fragile, yet strong face. "She will return, but with a crushed heart."

Well, I leave you there for now! Sorry it took so long for an update! I made this one long just for you... well, review, and don't worry, Kagome will end up with the right person, have fun guessing which one it is...
