Heart's confession...

AN: Hello this is a new story I started. This is the edited version of the first; it has more details and conversation on it. I might take a while to write the second one considering I lost the idea after the first chapter, and I didn't want to make it a short story where they cry yell say 'I love you' and make up. I wanted to make a good story, so please deal with me. Sorry it has to be this way but my word doc doesn't support special lettering and formatting so please cope with me.

"I long for you...but do you long for me? Is your heart here with me...or still in search for that lost love?"
Kagome sat by the fire, staring at the dancing flames. "Kagome is something the matter?" asked Miroku. "Huh? No, I'm fine" said Kagome with a small smile. "I know there has to be something wrong" said Miroku. "Really Miroku there is nothing wrong" said Kagome. Miroku still didn't trust Kagome, she was usually very cheerful. They had been hot on Kikyou's trail, Inu-yasha went out to investigate further. "Does it have anything to do with Kikyou?" asked Miroku knowing that he hit the spot when he saw her expression. Kagome was a little surprised that Miroku had asked that. "Well, sort of" said Kagome. Miroku listened. "It's like I'm glass to Inu-yasha" said Kagome. "What do you mean?" asked Miroku a little confused. "When he looks at me he doesn't see me...he's always searching for someone...for her" said Kagome looking down at her lap. "I see" said Miroku. "He doesn't see me, I know he loves her but, it's sometime nice to be seen as just me Kagome" said Kagome. Miroku nodded. "When Kikyou's ashes and bones were stolen, I tried to ask him why he was acting so different and he was about to kiss me because, when he saw me he was looking at Kikyou, back then it didn't bother me, actually I felt sorry for him, but now I feel differently" said Kagome.
"I don't mind the time change either, but sometimes I wish I never had this job, I guess I know how Kikyou felt towards the jewel" said Kagome. "How she felt?" asked Miroku. Kagome nodded. "You see, because I'm her reincarnation I can see clips of what happened to her how powers worked, her life, the jewel was holding her back from being just a woman, she wanted to live her life. Not protect some jewel. I feel that way sometimes, don't get me wrong Miroku, I love being around you, Shippou, Sango, and Inu-yasha, but sometimes your hearts longs for wings" said Kagome. "I know what you mean" said Miroku holding his right hand. "I'm stuck by duty, my freedom and love is put off for duty, that's what makes me a little sad, the fact that I can't just be were I belong become what I want to be come" said Kagome. Miroku nodded. "I understand going back in forth in time must be tiring and a burden" he said. Kagome shook her head and smiled "I don't see it as a burden, I like it here, as much as I like it in my time, but the thing is I can't live two lives" said Kagome. "I never really thought of what it must be like for you" said Miroku. Kagome chuckled. "At first when all of it started I thought I was stressed out and dreaming, but after I saw that it wasn't a dream I started to really see the importance of what we do" she said. "The Shikon no Tama has destroyed so many lives, even the creator is still battling to gain control" said Miroku.
Kagome chuckled again "It's almost like emotions, like love. Your so driven by it that you would do anything to get it, yet once you have it, your afraid of when it's going to slip away" she said. Miroku looked at Kagome's face, he always thought she was smart, but at the moment he saw that he was wise, and that wisdom came from the locked up emotions with in her. "Kagome, what is that you want?" asked Miroku. "What I want? To be honest with you Miroku I haven't thought of what I really wanted ever since I started this quest with Inu-yasha, as it went on I started to get surrounded by more people I cared for" said Kagome. "It's strange isn't it how fate plays with us?" asked Miroku. Kagome nodded "Real strange, I bet fate gets a real kick out of doing to" she said as if 'fate' was a being. Miroku and Kagome discussed this not noticing that Inu-yasha had been listening in on the whole conversation. "Do you love him?" asked Miroku suddenly already knowing the answer. Kagome looked up at Miroku. "I don't know, and even if I did it's not like he would care, the only reason he needs me is to find the Shikon no tama, that the reason everyone wants me" said Kagome with a sadness in her voice.
"You know that's not true, then he wouldn't have sent you back to your time for your safety" said Miroku. "Miroku you know well as I know that the only reason you came along with us on this hunt is because I can purify the shards of the Shikon jewel, more of benefits to you" said Kagome. Miroku gasped. "I'm not stupid, but I guess in a way I am if I keep thinking that I mean something to any of you" said Kagome. "Kagome, it started out that way, but now I feel differently about you and everyone else" said Miroku. "Miroku I know that, but that still doesn't change the fact the only reason you got to know me was because of my power" said Kagome. Miroku nodded feeling guilty. "Everyone in the past thinks I'm a joke" said Kagome. "The only one that really cares for me is Shippou, because he has no real reason for me to be here and Sango is my only friend, but I'm not even sure of that" said Kagome looking toward where the little fox was sleeping in her sleeping bag. "I care for you too and so does Inu-yasha" said Miroku. "Miroku it's all right I know that you care, and I forgave you a long time ago. When people are in trouble and in time of need, they need to think of a way to survive, at time it may seem selfish but the outcome sometimes is good" said Kagome smiling. Miroku smiled back "You don't leave people with any other choice but to like you" said Miroku. Kagome smiled back at the comment.
"I wish I was with my family, I miss them so much" said Kagome. "Kagome..." said Miroku. "I lead half life Miroku" said Kagome. Miroku looked at Kagome. "I just breath, and that's all I'm good for, I'm not good at archery like Kikyou, or good at fighting like Sango, I'm a burden to the group" said Kagome. "Kagome you know that's not true" said Miroku. "You help us in many ways" he said. "I didn't ask to be a reincarnation of a powerful miko" said Kagome. Kagome was quite for a while before tears started to sting her eyes. "Miroku can you hand me my bag please" said Kagome. Miroku handed Kagome her bag. "Thanks, I'm going to go and take a bath, I'll be right back" said Kagome getting up and running away towards the lake. "I feel terrible" said Miroku. "You should considering why you really followed us" said Inu-yasha. Miroku just stared at the grass before getting up. "Where are you going" asked Inu-yasha. "To see if Kagome is all right" said Miroku. "I'll go. With you I don't know what you might do" said Inu-yasha. Miroku sat back down and watched Inu-yasha walk way.
At the lake/ water fall...
Kagome striped in to a light white cotton kimono, which she had borrowed from lady Kaede to take a shower or bathe in. Kagome tied her hair in a bun and walked in to the lake it was very warm and she sat at the edge with closed eyes so she didn't see Inu-yasha. Inu-yasha gasped at the vision down by the waterfall, Kagome with almost in nothing, wet with her hair up, and the only thing that can describe her was she was like an angle bathing. Inu-yasha went down for a closer look, and then he remembered where they were, it was one of the places where Inu-yasha had followed Kikyou and saw her bathing. *Kagome is right, every time you look at her, you always go back and think of Kikyou* said a voice. *No I don't, she doesn't trust me* said Inu-yasha back to the voice. *Like you give her a chance to trust you, you should be happy she stuck with you as along as she did* said the voice. *What the hell who's side are you on, wait why the hell am I talking to myself* thought Inu-yasha. "Inu-yasha..." said Kagome. Inu-yasha came back to reality. "Kagome, what you doing so far away from the camp?" asked Inu-yasha. Kagome just closed her eyes and pretend he wasn't there. Inu-yasha for the first time smelled sadness coming from Kagome, and annoyance towards him. "Inu-yasha I came to take a bath, if you're done yelling at me, you can leave" said Kagome. "What? Is this the Thanks I get for looking out for you" said Inu-yasha.
"What the hell Inu-yasha! Thanks my ass! do you think I'm stupid? Do you think I don't know that the only reason you look out for me is so I can get you the stupid jewel. Leave me alone Inu-yasha I had enough of this" said Kagome letting out her emotions at once. Inu-yasha was a bit taken back by this out burst but recovered by grabbing Kagome and making her look at him and with soft eyes "Kagome I'm not trying to use you damn it!" said Inu-yasha. Kagome tried to look away but Inu-yasha grabbed her chin and made her look at him. "I care about you Kagome" said Inu-yasha in a whisper. "Tell me the truth Inu-yasha...every time you look at me you'll always think of her and not me" said Kagome softly. Inu-yasha drew in some air. "I can't say that I don't think of her, without you my life is lonely" said Inu-yasha inches away from her lips. "I want to believe you Inu-yasha but..." said Kagome unable to finish her sentence. "Leave me alone Inu-yasha, I can't be around you right now" whispered Kagome. Inu-yasha couldn't believe that Kagome was pushing him away. "Inu-yasha please go away" said Kagome. Inu-yasha walked away but not so far that he couldn't see her, something inside him screamed. Kagome started to cry. *Why am I doing this to myself* thought Kagome. Inu-yasha heard something soft and melodious, so he went down by where Kagome was but stayed out of sight, that's when he saw her singing, she had a beautiful voice. {AN: Song not mines}

Kagome finished with a half lid eyes, before getting up to get dresses. Inu-yasha turned around to give her privacy, but her melodious voice was still in his head. When he turned around he saw Kagome fully dresses again, and decided to head back. Inu-yasha felt low, he felt like a jerk for making her feel the way she did. He wished everything would just be to the times when she was smiling and happy, when they were talking to each other like they were best friends...that's what she is to him his best friend. it was killing him to see her like this. Kikyou was always so serious, while Kagome took time to cherish the little things. She would tease, and play around make everything seems less serious and more bright and hopeful. That's what she was Hope, for him and everyone. Inu-yasha was determined to fix what ever was bothering her once she was less mad.
Back at the camp...
Inu-yasha followed Kagome back to the camp, but stayed hidden, sure that she wouldn't want to see him now either. "Miroku, I'm back" said Kagome. "Welcome back then, do you feel better" asked Miroku. "Yes, and I made a decision" said Kagome. "Really what is it?" asked Miroku. "I'm going back to the future" said Kagome. "When will you be returning?" asked Miroku. Kagome looked down at the dirt. "I won't be coming back" said Kagome holding the Shikon jewel around her neck. "Inu-yasha isn't here is he?" asked Kagome. "No" said Miroku. "Well, that's good I'm leaving for good, and I want you to give this to Inu-yasha" said Kagome holding the almost completed Shikon jewel. "I can't, Kagome you can't leave, Shippou and Sango will miss...I will miss you" said Miroku looking at her hopeful that she will change her mind. Kagome came and sat next to Miroku and took his hands in to hers "Please Miroku, you guys don't need me any ways" said Kagome. "What are you talking about, without you were nothing. Kagome you can't ask me to do this" said Miroku.
Kagome leaned in and kissed Miroku on the cheeks. Miroku blushed if the situation wasn't so serious he would tied to feel her up. "Miroku, please" said Kagome in a hurtful whisper. "I'm sorry Kagome I can't do this. Inu-yasha needs to know from you, and so does Shippou and Sango" said Miroku blushing. Kagome looked at Shippou and smiled. "I want to take Shippou with me if he would come with me" said Kagome. Miroku did an amine fall over. "Are sure they wouldn't find him strange back at your time?" asked Miroku. "No why would they, and he can stay at home" said Kagome. Miroku got serious. "Listen Kagome, please don't go" said Miroku. "I should have never came back when Inu-yasha sent me away" said Kagome. "He cares for you, I know. I know that he loves you" said Miroku. "What world have you been living on, the only one he'll ever love is Kikyou" said Kagome. "That's it isn't it, you love him and the sorrow of him loving Kikyou is killing you" said Miroku. "It's not that..." said Kagome softly. Miroku came and hugged Kagome with out any hentai. "Tell him how you feel, Kagome" said Miroku. Kagome cried in his arms. "He won't love me like the way I love him, Miroku, I'll always be second to him" said Kagome in to Miroku chest. Inu-yasha couldn't believe what he was seeing or what he was hearing most of all. *Kagome loves me?* screamed Inu-yasha's head.
Inu-yasha looked back to see Miroku comforting Kagome. Inu-yasha walked out of the woods as if nothing happened. Miroku let go of Kagome and nodded. "Kagome tell him" said Miroku. "Inu-yasha I need to talk to you" said Kagome. Inu-yasha didn't say anything just followed her in to the forest. "What is it?" asked Inu-yasha. "I made up my mind to go back to the future" said Kagome. "Why?" asked Inu-yasha. "I...you don't need me anymore, the jewel is almost complete, and it won't be hard to hunt down the rest of them down without me, most probably Naraku has them" said Kagome holding out the necklace. "Kagome why are you doing this?" asked Inu-yasha. Kagome didn't say anything. Inu-yasha grabbed her shoulders and started to shake her. "Kagome!" yelled Inu-yasha. "BECAUSE I LOVE YOU STUPID!" yelled Kagome with tears in her eyes. Inu-yasha stood there with total shock written on his face...

Kagome finished with a half lid eyes, before getting up to get dresses. Inu-yasha turned around to give her privacy, but her melodious voice was still in his head. When he turned around he saw Kagome fully dresses again, and decided to head back. Inu-yasha felt low, he felt like a jerk for making her feel the way she did. He wished everything would just be to the times when she was smiling and happy, when they were talking to each other like they were best friends...that's what she is to him his best friend. it was killing him to see her like this. Kikyou was always so serious, while Kagome took time to cherish the little things. She would tease, and play around make everything seems less serious and more bright and hopeful. That's what she was Hope, for him and everyone. Inu-yasha was determined to fix what ever was bothering her once she was less mad.
Back at the camp...
Inu-yasha followed Kagome back to the camp, but stayed hidden, sure that she wouldn't want to see him now either. "Miroku, I'm back" said Kagome. "Welcome back then, do you feel better" asked Miroku. "Yes, and I made a decision" said Kagome. "Really what is it?" asked Miroku. "I'm going back to the future" said Kagome. "When will you be returning?" asked Miroku. Kagome looked down at the dirt. "I won't be coming back" said Kagome holding the Shikon jewel around her neck. "Inu-yasha isn't here is he?" asked Kagome. "No" said Miroku. "Well, that's good I'm leaving for good, and I want you to give this to Inu-yasha" said Kagome holding the almost completed Shikon jewel. "I can't, Kagome you can't leave, Shippou and Sango will miss...I will miss you" said Miroku looking at her hopeful that she will change her mind. Kagome came and sat next to Miroku and took his hands in to hers "Please Miroku, you guys don't need me any ways" said Kagome. "What are you talking about, without you were nothing. Kagome you can't ask me to do this" said Miroku.
Kagome leaned in and kissed Miroku on the cheeks. Miroku blushed if the situation wasn't so serious he would tied to feel her up. "Miroku, please" said Kagome in a hurtful whisper. "I'm sorry Kagome I can't do this. Inu-yasha needs to know from you, and so does Shippou and Sango" said Miroku blushing. Kagome looked at Shippou and smiled. "I want to take Shippou with me if he would come with me" said Kagome. Miroku did an amine fall over. "Are sure they wouldn't find him strange back at your time?" asked Miroku. "No why would they, and he can stay at home" said Kagome. Miroku got serious. "Listen Kagome, please don't go" said Miroku. "I should have never came back when Inu-yasha sent me away" said Kagome. "He cares for you, I know. I know that he loves you" said Miroku. "What world have you been living on, the only one he'll ever love is Kikyou" said Kagome. "That's it isn't it, you love him and the sorrow of him loving Kikyou is killing you" said Miroku. "It's not that..." said Kagome softly. Miroku came and hugged Kagome with out any hentai. "Tell him how you feel, Kagome" said Miroku. Kagome cried in his arms. "He won't love me like the way I love him, Miroku, I'll always be second to him" said Kagome in to Miroku chest. Inu-yasha couldn't believe what he was seeing or what he was hearing most of all. *Kagome loves me?* screamed Inu-yasha's head.
Inu-yasha looked back to see Miroku comforting Kagome. Inu-yasha walked out of the woods as if nothing happened. Miroku let go of Kagome and nodded. "Kagome tell him" said Miroku. "Inu-yasha I need to talk to you" said Kagome. Inu-yasha didn't say anything just followed her in to the forest. "What is it?" asked Inu-yasha. "I made up my mind to go back to the future" said Kagome. "Why?" asked Inu-yasha. "I...you don't need me anymore, the jewel is almost complete, and it won't be hard to hunt down the rest of them down without me, most probably Naraku has them" said Kagome holding out the necklace. "Kagome why are you doing this?" asked Inu-yasha. Kagome didn't say anything. Inu-yasha grabbed her shoulders and started to shake her. "Kagome!" yelled Inu-yasha. "BECAUSE I LOVE YOU STUPID!" yelled Kagome with tears in her eyes. Inu-yasha stood there with total shock written on his face...
