"Stupid! Idiot! FUCK!"
"Inuyasha! Must you swear every five seconds?"
"Oh shut up Mother." the distempered Hanyou held his head in his hands, fighting the urge to break down into a heap of sullen emotion.
"Inuyasha!" his Mother never stopped her chores, as she kept an eye on her distraught son. He would tell her everything. When he was ready.
"Sorry." his apology was quick, but heartfelt none the less. "Mother, I've made a mess of everything."
Inuyasha sat in his modest house, his Mother sitting by the fireplace, churning butter. His brother was off hunting, with their Father and he could finally have time to ask his Mothers advice on the subject. That subject being that Kagome had been sent off to the Americas and it was entirely his fault. One Hanyou single handedly destroyed two lives. Everything that Inuyasha had been holding in for years was finally unleashed as he nearly cried to his Mother.
"I fell in love with her, the moment I met her. She had a fire in her eyes, so much stronger than I had ever seen. Her fire equally matched by her passion and her adoration for everything. She loves everything, about everyone and everything. Does that make sense Mother? She is smart, and fun to be around and beautiful . . . no, gorgeous. Ugh, there isn't even a word to describe her. She is so pure and genuinely innocent. She is everything I could ever want. She is everything anyone could ever want. She is a gift from God. Sent to me for He only knows what reason. I love her so much. And I can't be with her. And its my fault." he put his head back in his hands and allowed the tears to flow freely from his swollen eyes.
"Inuyasha," his Mother stopped her chore and knelt down beside her only son (being that Sesshomaru was not her child). She didn't know how to express her sympathy, she had never seen him break down so completely. But the fact of the matter remained in her realist head. "You are only seventeen. And she merely fifteen. You have plenty of years to find someone else." that did the Hanyou in.
"I don't want to find someone else Mother! I don't need to find anyone else! How can you say we have plenty of time? You are nearly forty-five and fading exceptionally fast. Humans don't live that long Mother. You are lucky to be as old as you are! I may have plenty of time, but she doesn't! Reiko and Sano got married just last month, and they are thirteen and fourteen. Mother, do you not understand?! Had you not mated with Father and gained a small amount of his longevity, you would be dying too!" Inuyasha pushed away from his Mothers embrace and ran to the bedroom he shared with his brother. There, he would find a way to be with Kagome.
~*^_^*~
"Well, yes Father. It is a wonderful house." Kagome placed the most forced smile on her face as she looked to her new home.
The log cabin was elegant. More gorgeous than she could have dreamed. In England she had lived in a marvelous house made entirely of stone. It was built in the traditional style, four bedrooms, a breakfast nook, and living quarters for the servants and naturally an out house outside. This cabin was far more modest, built entirely of logs, a small fireplace in the quaint living area, two bedrooms, and no servants quarters. However, this was home now.
"We shall use this as your dowry Kagome. I am sure you will find a husband very soon with this to offer them." her Father smiled broadly at her and then looked back to the cabin, set in the middle of the woods.
"How shall I fetch water?" Kagome asked. In her home town they had a village well, there didn't seem to be a village here, let alone a well.
"There is a wonderful well over yonder. I'll take you there." Kagome's Father took her hand and led her around the back side of the house.
Through the trees and over a small bridge she finally saw the elusive well. "It's quite a ways to travel Father, simply for water."
"Yes, but I'll will be gathering it until you find a husband and then he will."
"It is a lovely well." Kagome stated passively. She still couldn't believe she had left England, the only home she had ever known.
"There is a legend behind this well Kagome."
"Really?" she asked, not really caring.
"Yes. In the five hundreds, roughly, it was said to be 'The Bone Eaters Well'."
"That is a curious name."
"Yes indeed. The corpses of demons would be thrown into the well, at that time it was dry you see, and that is where they would stay. They also say the brother to this well is in Japan, where a story of true love takes place."
"Please tell me the story Father." by now the two had walked back to the cabin and were sitting inside next to the fire.
"There was this odd schoolgirl, from another world, and she traveled back in time through the well, where she met a half-demon whom she fell in love with. The half-demon realized he loved this odd girl from another land. The two traveled for many years together, becoming closer and closer every day. They gathered many friends along the way and lived quite happily. However the half-demon had a dark past.
He had been in love with a village Priestess who he thought betrayed him, and she thought he betrayed her. The confusion stemming from another party, a treacherous man who wanted nothing but power to feed his greedy soul. The priestess and the half-demon finally figured out that neither were betrayed by the opposing sex and they worked out their problems.
In the end however, he was still in love with the original Priestess and he had to leave his traveling partner. He is said to have died with the Priestess leaving the mysterious future girl by herself alone at the well. The legend entails that she stays there still, haunting whoever dare come near her; until her beloved realizes his betrayal and comes back for her." Kagome's father ended this as he threw another log into the fire.
Kagome wiped a tear from her eye and gathered her voice before she spoke. "I should like to go there some day."
"To Japan?"
"Yes. I should like to see the brother well to this. I think that tale is far to tragic to be true. I would like to believe that the half-demon realized he had once loved the Priestess but their doubt in each other proved that it was not true love, but that he was in love with the girl from another world."
"That's my Kagome, always the optimist." her Father smiled and kissed her forehead.
"I love you Princess."
"I love you Father."

"Inuyasha! It's nearly one in the morning. You'll work yourself to death."
"I'll be fine Mother. I need the extra money. Kagome's waiting for me and I have to get to her." Inuyasha stacked the wood he had chopped and went back to chop more.
"At least take this shawl."
"Thank you Mother."
~*^*^~
Kagome sat outside, staring out at the surrounding trees. The village was just beyond said trees, so it wasn't a terrible walk to get to town. That, in fact, was where Kagome's father had run off to now. Kagome focused on a tall shape entering the clearing. She noticed it certainly wasn't her father.
"Hello Miss. My name is Kouga. I met your Father in town and he tells me you're looking to Court."
"Uhh . . . yeah." Kagome really didn't want to be Courted. She wanted to stall the whole process long enough to give Inuyasha time to come to America.
"I would like you to know, I will provide a safe and caring environment for you and our three boys." Kagome's eyes inadvertently widened at the thought of having three children . . . by him.
"Wonderful."
"May I take you to festival tonight. There is dancing, and games. It is sure to be fun. I can even show you my prized moose head. Took him down with only three shots and a couple knife wounds. But I saved the head as a mantle piece." Kagome cringed at the thought of an animal head mounted on a wall.
"Lovely."
"I'll come back to pick you up just after sunset Miss." he tipped his hat and took off, at an incredible rate, in the direction of the village.
Kagome's father came into view moments later. "Ahh, I see you met Kouga."
"I don't want to get married! I want to wait for Inuyasha! Can't you see that?"
"Kagome, I need to make sure you are provided for, and I can't guarantee Inuyasha will come for you."
"He said he would! I will wait for him until the day I die if I have to!" with that said Kagome turned around, slammed the cabin door and ran to her bedroom.
"I don't want a husband, unless it's you Yash." she closed her eyes and cried herself to sleep.
