Kagome was sitting at the base of a tree, her back leaned up against it. She breathed a sigh of relief, a sigh she finally realized she must have been holding in for an extremely long time. With the exhale of her lungs, a weight was lifted from her shoulders. She couldn't believe it was all over. It seemed like all this had been just a dream. Albeit a vivid, detailed, and more than occaisionally painful dream. She was snapped from her thoughts by the sound of someone clearing their throat behind her. She turned around to see Miroku. He sat down beside her and glanced at her breifly than moved his attention to the canopy of the forest they were in. The birds chirped and animals skittered about, their lives moving along as if nothing had changed, but then again, for them it hadn't.

"Do you need someone to talk to Kagome? I'll be more than happy to lend a friendly ear"

She smiled at him, "I wouldn't know where to begin."

"I understand, I think that's how we all feel. Which is why I think it would be best for you to not dwell on this all by yourself, come back to Kaede's with me and we can see where things go from there. There is no sense in worrying yourself too greatly over anything just yet."

"Thank you Miroku, I think I'll do just that."

She got up, brushed off her skirt, and followed the monk back to the village. Upon entering Kaede's hut she was welcomed by the smell of cooking food and a bouncing red-headed little boy.

"Kagome! Kagome! I'm helping Kaede make dinner! Aren't ya proud?"

"Of course I am Shippo! ...erm, what are you making?"

"Steeeew! InuYasha took me hunting! We caught rabbits!"

`InuYasha took Shippo hunting?… what's going on?'

She glanced at the amber-eyed boy momentarily before realizing she'd rather check on Sango than worry over his wacked-out mental process. Unfortunately she had been knocked unconscious in the battle with Naraku and had yet to wake up. She was worried sick over her, and couldn't imagine how worried Miroku must be. And he asked her if she needed to talk! She really respected the monk, no matter how lecherous he could be, deep down he had a heart of gold.

As she sat down beside where Sango lay, Kagome slipped back into her own thoughts, and for the second time that day they were interrupted by Miroku coming up behind her.

“ She's going to be alright isn't she?”

She didn't have to look at him to know he was crying, it was obvious in his voice.

“I think so Miroku, she's been bandaged up and given medicine from my era, I think it's just a matter of time now.”

He smiled though grief still seemed to seep from every pore on his body.

There was a crash from the main room. Then yelling. A shriek. And Kaede threatening InuYasha with purification if he broke anything in her house. Kagome left to join the chaos, and Miroku followed suit, pausing briefly in the doorway to glance back at Sango.

“Please come back to us soon.”

He put his worry in the back of his mind as he was greeted by the sight of InuYasha holding Shippo by the tail, Kagome holding InuYasha by the ears, and Kaede shaking her head miserably.

“That little brat BIT me!”
“You stepped on me!”
“You shouldn't have been under my feet!”
”SIT!!!”

*THUMP*

Miroku chuckled. It's amazing no matter how the argument starts the ending is always the same.

InuYasha was willing to drop it. He wasn't going to complain about being sat. They all could have died earlier, he was content just exsisting. He only bickered with Shippo to have something to do. He took the kit hunting earlier, it went pretty well. Shippo was a hindrance compared to if he had hunted alone, but all things considering they hadn't done half bad. InuYasha smiled. Kagome noticed.

“ Are you alright?”

“Yeah, why wouldn't I be?

“Okay, just concerned, that's all”

There was a crash outside. It seemed distant but for how far away it sounded it was sickeningly loud. Kagome grabbed her bow, and she, InuYasha, and Shippo ran outside. Miroku stood there stunned. Realizing he had lost his most-effective weapon upon defeating Naraku. That combined with Sango's injury was too much for him, he felt utterly useless. He grabbed his staff and ran outside anyway. Outside the door Kirara was waiting for him, he thanked the cat and lept onto it's back and flew off in the direction of the noise.
