Her and Him
Chapter 15
Circumstances
**An: I got an idea after reading a review about Souta's part. This part was a little weird for me (Does it seemed forced to you? It does to me…) to write because I had decided I wouldn't do this in this story but yeah… Thank you for the encouragement. Sorry it took so long to get here. *bows* Good reading!**
The weekend came quickly, too quickly for Kagome. There was something she'd been putting off for far too long. Something that needed to be taken care of this weekend, just her. There was one place the hazards of life could find her.

Her foot steps clicked through the silent hall almost as if she was the only person wandering there. She had worn her regular attire, boots, black pants, and a black shirt but she felt as if she were on top of the world instead of the bottom.
This place is what had torn her and her mom apart. Her chain swung from her waistband clinging against the cart she walked by to open the door slowly, not making a sound then. Kagome peered in blinking against the dim light to focus.
The bed was moved from the last time she had been here, but she didn't blame anyone, the room setup before sucked. Looking around she was pleased to find the pictures she had drawn of her family were still at the bedside.
A hiss in the corner came every two seconds, creating a breathing rhythm that Kagome lowered herself to. This boy in the bed didn't look like her brother, especially with the tube running through his nose into his stomach, and the breathing tube on his mouth.
This was who her brother was, a boy in a bed, unable to even open his eyes now. No one ever came here anymore. For awhile Kagome held out that there was something she could do for him and then… She wasn't so sure anymore.
The door creaked behind her and a nurse walked in. She didn't seem to even notice Kagome until she spoke. “Ye know that there was once a patient that his wife sat by his bed side everyday until he woke from his coma. The first thing from his mouth was `I love ye too' because she had said it so much. They can hear ye even if ye don't think it.” The nurse did another calculation, and wrote something down in her pamphlet.
Kagome smirked at this, but kept it in mind as the nurse walked out of the room to record the information into a computer at the nurse`s station. She closed her eyes for a moment, reaching for her brother's hand. “Souta, I miss you. Come back to me.”
Her eyes started to water when nothing happened. She kissed his forehead, still holding his hand and then let it go walking quickly out the door. What she didn't see- his hand flinched when she let it go.

Words flew when she returned back home.
“I went to go visit Souta! Get that through you thick skull mother. Inu had nothing to do with this delay on me coming home. So just shove it.”
“You know what Kagome, you need to stay away from the hospital and that boy. You really need to patch things up here before you go off into the big bad world because if you don't there won't be anything here when you fall flat on your ass.” Her mother screamed back as Kagome flew up the stairs.
“Now I understand why daddy left, and why Souta is so messed up. You are such a bitch, you don't even realize what's going on around you.” She roared over the banister down at her mother. “Just leave me alone.”
Kagome escaped into her room then, slamming the door and locking it. She didn't hear her mother's footsteps follow her. The bed sunk under her weight and she leaned her elbows on her knees, crying. She laid back, closing her eyes, tears streaming down onto the pillow below her.
Slowly sleep overtook her into the dream world where everything was still alright. The time before her life had gone down hill. Then came the fights, and her mother's new pregnancy. She tossed and turned in the bed, her hair growing distraught across the sheets.
Souta had begun to cut himself by the age of seven. Suicide was a common talk between Kagome and him, alone in their shared room. Then one night out of the corner of her eye she saw him get up and deliberately rig up a noose for himself. She watched as he draped it around the room. She knew he was too smart for his age. Standing on that chair, and then kicking it out from beneath himself scared her half to death and she immediately got up to help him down.
By then, it was too late. He was unresponsive to her when she ran to get her mother and father.
After Souta had been admitted into the hospital, her father left. And her mother wasn't the strong point in the family anymore. Kagome stayed with Souta night and day, and then school started and she hadn't seen him since.
She woke with a start to the knock on the door. “The doctor's called a few minutes ago Kagome. Souta woke up.”
