Her and Him
Circumstances
Chap. 18
The week went quickly. Too quickly perhaps. Homecoming was tonight. Kagome had gotten a beautiful dress with Inu right there to help her. He had his own opinion on what she should wear but she got her way in the end.
People were talking in the halls about the night to come. Kagome just smiled and walked to her locker. She hadn't seen Sango all week and was beginning to worry somewhat.
Kagome shrugged and shoved some of her book s into her locker. A shadow came up behind her as she tried to find her poem in her binder. “Kagome?”
Her eyes flicked up to see one of Inu's football team members. “Yeah. What can I do for you?”
“I was sent to give you this.” He handed her a piece of paper, no name on the outside.
“From who?”
“She told me she was an old friend of yours. Just read it.” He turned with that and left her in a worried state. She threw the paper into her locker, not completely dismissing it but saving it for later. She found and grabbed her newly written poem, packing up to go home.
Hurrying down the stairs to the back lot, she waited for Sango to come out from the gym.
Kagome heard Sango before she saw her. “Fucking whore.”
“What happened this time?” Kagome said, surprising Sango at her sudden appearance.
“Mrs. Bitch-At-Us-All, just confirmed that I failed the easiest fucking class in the whole god damn school.” Sango took a deep breath. “It will prevent me from passing the year and graduating.”
Kagome frowned. “But can't you take it during the summer?”
“No. That class isn't run during the summer.” Kagome caught Sango's arm.
“Then let's go talk to her. There has got to be something you can do to make it up before..”
“Kagome, I have a zero in her class. A zero for three six weeks- that's not going to change even with major help.” Sango shook her arm from Kagome's firm grasp. “It's no hope.” Sango had always hated the P.E. teacher and she knew exactly why the P.E. Teacher hated her: because she was the only one that stood up to her.
“You're going to pass.” Kagome grabbed her hand again and drug her back into the gym. Knocking on the office door, Kagome didn't wait for a answer she just opened it.
“Yes?” The teacher asked looking at first Kagome then Sango.
“Is there any way she can make up the grade for you?” Kagome crossed her arms in front of her chest.
“If she wants to make the grade up she should have started at the beginning of the year.”
“I did.” Sango interjected. “I did everything for this class and you just kept writing down grades that were bad. You failed me. Not me.”
“Is there anyway she can make it up now?” Kagome returned to the teacher.
“No.” The teacher replied.
“How about seventy sit ups per six weeks and you give her hundreds the last few six weeks? And then seventy more per semester test to equal them out at seventies- that means they would average out to an eighty and make her pass.”
Sango looked at Kagome like she was crazy and then to the teacher who had a smirk on her face. “That's seven hundred sit ups Kagome. I couldn't do that if my life depended on it.”
“She'll do it in intervals of 140 during class, for a week let's say. You pick the week. She's got till the end of the year. I'll do hundreds for her but if she never does them I will change all her grades and make her fail.”
“Deal.” Kagome said for Sango. The older girl looked distraught.
Kagome smiled as she walked past Sango grabbing her hand. Out the door and down the steps to Inu's car was enough to break Sango out of her daze. “What the hell did you do?”
“I just saved your ass.”
“Or killed it.”
Kagome brushed a kiss across the older girl's cheek. “Listen. I have to go talk to the art mistress. I need you to stay here and tell Inu where I'll be and that I will be here later. Thanks Sango.” Kagome dashed off before Sango could answer.
`Damn that girl.'

Kagome lightly rapped on the art room door. The art teacher had taken up interest in getting Kagome into an art college and improving the skills she had the first year that Kagome had been here. So far she had sent applications to almost every art school that was renound in the area and across the nation. “'Come in.”
Kagome's light steps carried her swiftly across the room to the teacher's desk.
“My favorite artist.” The teacher smiled.
“Is there any word from any of them?”
“Not quite yet. I'm being told there won't be any until after prom, which means we have a while to wait.” The teacher's eyes lit up.
“ I suppose.” Kagome smiled. “Well, I have to get home so we'll talk later.”
“Alright. You're free to talk to me when ever you know. A drop in every once in a while would be nice, and maybe you could bring some work in too.”
“Yeah maybe. Talk to you later.” Kagome reached the door her hand trying to crush the handle in frustration. Prom was a long way off.
“Bye.”

Kagome walked slowly back to where she had left Sango only to find Inu there. “So how did it go?”
She shrugged at him. “She won't have the results until after prom.” Her voice sounded forlorn.
“It's not that far you'll see.” He smiled at her and leaned down to kiss her softly. “I want to be with you forever.” Inu whispered brushing his lips across her forehead lightly.
“Me too. I never want to let you go.” She laid her head on his chest, smiling to herself.
“Let's go get ready for homecoming. It's going to be a long night.” Inu grabbed her hand and walked with her to his car, kissing her again on the cheek. His mind was somewhere else completely different though. It unnerved him that he could be thinking about Kikyou at a time like this.
