Her Fairy Tale Ending
a/n: this is probably only a one shot. its a song fic so if you don't like those don't read this one 'case i don't appreciate flamers. The songs are 'At the Beginning' from the Disney movie Anastasia and 'Only Hope' by Mandy Moore. I don't own inuyasha or the characters related to the story. Read and review!

He could smell her. The beautiful, alluring scent that was Kagome. Bounding from roof top to roof top, he was surprised he could smell her at all. The scents in her time drove him crazy. But he had to find her, she had been gone too long and he planned to give her a piece of his mind. Kagome's mother had said something about a show at school, so that's where he was headed.

She could feel the heat from the stage lighting. She was so nervous. Sure she had sang in front of her class but hundreds of people, she felt like running. Her set with Hojo was next. She didn't particularly like the fact that she was singing with Hojo but the teacher thought they made the perfect match. So she would just go along with it. Her solo was after their set and then she could covertly tell the masses how she felt in her heart. She took a deep breath and calmed herself. "You ready for this, Kagome?" Kagome turned around to see Hojo smiling at her. She smiled back. "Yep, ready and waiting!" she replied. "Good 'cause we're on!" he stated grabbing her arm and leading her to the side of the stage. 'Well, it's now or never.' she thought to herself. She took a breath and plastered on her smile as they were announced and Hojo lead her on to the stage.

Inuyasha heard someone announce Kagome and some Hojo person as he was walking through the auditorium doors. He looked up to the stage to see her. She was beautiful! Her hair was bound in a tight knot with small tendrels framing her flawless face. She looked so regal in her sapphire blue gown. Floor length and sweeping behind her, she looked like an angel. Being at the back of the auditorium he couldn't see as well as he wanted. Making sure no one was looking, he leaped in to the rafters and slowly made his way until he was almost right over her. He had just settled down when he realized who Hojo was but, he could just imagine how pissed off Kagome would be if he attacked her singing partner. So he just let it go, for now.

As Kagome was lead on to the stage, she felt a shiver run down her spine. She felt like someone was watching her. 'Duh Kagome' she told herself. 'There is about two hundred people watching me.' So she just shook it off not knowing Inuyasha was the one giving her that feeling.
Standing center stage she really felt the heat of the lights. The intro music started. "Ready?" Hojo whispered. Kagome just nodded her head yes, took a deep breath and began.

Inuyasha couldn't believe how beautiful her voice really was. Sure he had heard her singing at the springs, when he was hiding watching for threats and other things and he had heard her hum while they were walking but this was different. Then he realized how the song she had just sang mirrored their time together. He smiled. He knew he loved her but it would never work out. 'Not like she loves me back.' he thought to himself. How wrong he was! Just as he made to jump down and meet Kagome backstage he noticed that Kagome wasn't moving. As he was looking down at her he heard someone announce that Kagome was to sing solo. Wondering what 'solo' meant, he sat back down to watch.

'Well at least thats over' Kagome thought as Hojo left the stage and the crowd finished clapping. She steeled herself for what was next. As her teacher announced her to the crowd, she stepped forward and smiled. As the intro music played she took a calming breath and began to sing out her heart.

As the song finished, Kagome could feel her love and tears pour from her. For a moment the auditorium was silent. Then the crowd erupted into a din of applause that stunned Kagome. The whole room was on their feet praising her for her singing. She couldn't believe it. At a loss for what to do she bowed and walked off stage. Unbeknownst to her someone else had tears streaming down their face. Though he would never admit it to anyone else, feeling the love coming from Kagome had brought him to tears.

He waited until she was alone then he jumped down behind her. As Kagome turned around, Inuyasha found himself nose to nose with her. She screamed and jumped back, triping on her own dress. Inuyasha caught her effortlessly. "Thank you" she breathed. "Yeah, don't mention it." Inuyasha replied. As Inuyasha set Kagome back down, he calmed himself for what was coming next.
Kagome looked perplexed at his expression but just shrugged it off. "What are you doing here?" she asked. She looked so stunning up close that Inuyasha was at a loss for words. Shaking himself he replied, "I came looking for you but your mother said you were here, so I came to find you." "Oh."she said. "So how long have you been here?" Inuyasha smiled. "I've been here about 20 minutes." Kagome's eyes got wide. 'Oh NO! He heard me singing!' she thought to herself. "So.... you heard me then?" she asked timidly. "Yes I did, Kagome, and I have never heard anything so beautiful in my whole life." Inuyasha said as he began to wrap his arms around the woman he loved. Kagome was shocked. She had never heard Inuyasha praise anything about her. Laying her head on his chest, she whispered "You mean it?" Inuyasha hugged her tight and responded, "Of course. Everything about you is beautiful to me." Kagome blushed. "Oh Inuyasha!" she whispered. Leaning back slightly, she raised up on her toes and gave him a small kiss on the lips. Inuyasha was stunned.
'Did she just....?' Inuyasha thought dazed and cunfused. Luckily he quickly recovered and seizing the opportunity, pulled Kagome into a passionate kiss. Inuyasha poured all the pent up love and passion he had for Kagome into this one kiss. He was hoping that she would feel his love and need for her and understand his feelings. Suddenly he realized that she more than understood she felt the same way! He felt her responding to him with more passion than he had realized. He could feel the heat of her body and could smell her arousal. But most of all he could feel her love just as he knew she could feel his.
As Kagome broke the kiss, she gathered up the nerve to say what she had felt for almost 3 years. Looking into the golden eyes that had always captured her heart, she breathed "Inuyasha, I love you." Inuyasha's eyes got huge. Kagome's heart almost skipped a beat when she thought that he didn't feel the same way. Then she saw his eyes begin to tear as he pulled her into the most tender embrase. "Oh Kagome." he whispered "I love you, too." Kagome couldn't beleive it. He had told her that he loved her. She finally had her fairy tale ending.
