InuYasha Fan Fiction ❯ Her Heart ❯ Her Heart ( Chapter 1 )

[ A - All Readers ]

Alrighty then. Let's see Kikyo is alive and with the group, she is kinda like Kagome's mentor and she isn't trying to kill Inuyasha, I don't hate Kikyo but I don't want her with Inu, let's get this story shall we? Oh yeah, don't Inuyasha…wish I had forgot that it's so depressing to see it in writing.

Her Heart

Kagome yawned, pushing the bushes out of her way as she went to the well. She had finally worn Inuyasha down into at least letting her go home to replenish her supplies. She jumped in and felt the glow around her.

She climbed out the well and went to her house. No body one was home and when she found out that they would be gone for the whole week she sighed.

`Wonderful! Oh, well. Even if mom is not here I can still run the water for a bath! I don't give a damn if Inuyasha wants me back right away.' she thought, going into the bathroom.

She ran the water into the large bath tub. She breathed in the sweet aroma that the bubble bath was giving off. She remembered Kikyo's last words before she'd left for the well.

`He really is an idiot, an over protective idiot, but an idiot nonetheless!' Kagome smiled slipping into the warm water. She sighed as it relaxed her sore muscles. She had been dreaming about this for weeks!

“It's so good to be home, even if no one's around, but still its so much nicer here!” she washed up and lingered in the bath a few more minutes before getting out. She pulled on her favorite turquoise sweater and a dark blue skirt.

She sighed in delight as she flopped down on her bed. `This is heaven!' she thought, but then she felt guilty that her friends couldn't enjoy the same luxuries that she could.

Inuyasha was the only one that could cross over besides her. Or so she thought. She didn't know that another hanyou was at that moment was climbing out of the well.

Naraku smirked, he'd followed Kagome into her world, and now he could get rid of one of the women that had been plaguing him in his nightmares. He sent miasma around the house.

Kagome began to choke as the poisonous gases entered her lungs. She stumbled down the stairs and out of the house, but to her horror the gases were outside as well. Then she spotted him. Naraku was smirking at her.

`INUYASHA!' she screamed inside her head, before she passed out at Naraku's feet.

`Now, to end this where it first started. This girl will die where I was first born. The death of the reincarnation of the maiden that Onigumo once desired should destroy his heart.' he thought picking Kagome up.

He once again walked into the well house and passed into the feudal era.

Inuyasha sat on the floor of the hut with two bumps on his head and arrow sticking out of his right arm. He growled at Kikyo, Sango, and Miroku who were guarding the door.

“She said she'd be back by sunset! It's past sunset!” he growled.

“Two minutes! Inuyasha, she might have wanted to spend a little time with her family!” Kikyo said, pointing her bow at him once more as he tried to stand up. Quickly he flopped back on the floor.

“Yikes!” Shippo cried, running back into the hut from helping Kaede picking herbs. “Kikyo! Inuyasha! There's weird glow coming from that cave!”

Kikyo was the first one out the door, Inuyasha right behind her. His nose caught the scents he had hoped would never be together. Kagome and Naraku's scents assaulted his nose.

“Naraku has Kagome!” he cried.

“HE WHAT?!” all the others cried. Kikyo looked in the direction of Onigumo's cave. The red glow had grown in the short time that they had been talking.

`What is Naraku up to?' she thought, heading towards the cave that everything had started in. Her death, Inuyasha's death, Miroku's wind tunnel, Sango's slaughtered village, and Kagome's birth.

It all started in that cave. Where Naraku had been born, and now she wondered what he was up to. With Naraku anything could be possible.

Naraku walked into the cave he had once resided in. He looked at the spot that nothing grew at anymore, he smirked, soon he would be free of the bandit. Kagome groaned in his arm and he glared down at her.

Killing her would solve one of his problems, and even if it didn't, it would still make Inuyasha as miserable as hell. He smirked. Suddenly thick tree woods with spikes shot out of the ground that had once held Onigumo and grabbed Kagome from Naraku. (Um...NO MONKEY SUIT! I HATE THAT DAMNED THING!)

It suspended her in mid-air and they began to glow red as it wrapped around her legs, waist, arms, and finally her neck.

Naraku began to laugh, maniacally. His laugh echoed off the wall, giving it a slightly crazed sound.

Kikyo stopped as her heart skipped a beat. “He's here, but something isn't right!” she cried as the wind began to blow, and dark clouds covered up the sun that had been shining all day.

Inuyasha sniffed the air and growled. Kikyo was right. “There's three scents now! Naraku's, Kagome's, and Onigumo's scents!” Inuyasha growled, jumping up to the entrance of the cave. The others scrambled up after him.

He heard Naraku's laugh and growled, stepping into the cave. He saw why Naraku was laughing and it almost made him sick. Kagome was suspended in mid-air.

The tree roots holding her were glowing a strange red. Inuyasha also found that Onigumo's scent was coming from the roots holding Kagome captive. Naraku's laughter died.

“Well, so glad that you could join us, Inuyasha and Kikyo!” he smirked at the two. Kikyo growled at him.

“What the hell are you doing Naraku?!” she snapped at him. The hanyou smirked at her.

“Well as you are already dead, I decided to get rid of the other nuisance.” he said, his smirk growing. Inuyasha growled pulling Tetsusaiga.

“Over my dead body!” he growled. Naraku laughed at the dog hanyou's immaturity.

“That would be all to easy to arrange, Inuyasha. But you see as for now I can settle for seeing you all alone. But one day I will kill you, just not today. Today is Kagome's turn!” Naraku laughed.

Inuyasha ran and tried to slash at the tree roots but the red aura repelled both sword and owner backwards causing Inuyasha to crash into Kikyo, who gave a cry of surprise.

“Get off of me!” she cried. Quickly he scrambled off of her and helped her up. He then looked back at Kagome in desperation.

Naraku saw this and decided it was time to finally sentence Kagome to her death. He smirked once again. “Onigumo, take this woman as yours, make her be with you for eternity! KILL HER!” he yelled.

The tree root around Kagome's neck tightened. Kagome cried out. The she went silent and Inuyasha heard a loud crack. His eyes went wide as Kagome's heartbeat stopped.

“KAGOME!!!” he screamed trying to get to Kagome, but the aura glowed redder, keeping him away from the girl. She was now slumped forward, her bangs covering her face, keeping her features from Inuyasha's view.

Naraku gave a final laugh and disappeared. Inuyasha collapsed to his knees, his eyes wide with horror. He heard Sango crying into Miroku's chest. He could also hear Shippo sobbing and Kikyo trying to comfort him; but he smelled her salt tears as well.

Then he heard it. The beat of a heart. Then another. He stood up and looked at Kagome. A white energy was pulsating from her. Then it burst completely from her body.

Her spirit stood in front of him, glowing a bright white. She had a sad smile on her face. He could see through her, and he almost ran from her as she got closer and looked up into his eyes.

“Inuyasha, there was one thing that I had wanted to do before I died. I have never felt your lips against mine.” she whispered, standing on tiptoe. He gasped at the feeling, it felt as though she were solid and as he kissed her back, she began to disappear.

She stepped back, her sad smile still playing on her features, then he noticed her tears as she grew dimmer.

“Please...Kagome, don't leave me!” he reached out to touch her cheek but found that she really wasn't real.

“Good-bye, Inuyasha! I'll always watch over you and love you! I promise!” with that she disappeared.

“NOOOOOOOOOOOO! KAGOME! PLEASE! DON'T LEAVE ME!” he screamed, tears now falling down his face. He turned to look at the others to see them staring at him with sympathetic looks.

Even Kikyo was horrified by his eyes. They held anger, hatred, love, despair, fear, and loneliness. She met his eyes trying to understand what he was thinking.

He ran. Ran from Kagome's death, from the fact that Kikyo had been looking at him with an understanding look. No one could understand what he was going through.

The one woman he had loved, was dead. Yes, he now admitted it to himself! But it was to late. To late, Kagome was gone. Beyond his reach forever!

***************************************************************** *******

“And so she has passed on.” Kaede sighed as Miroku laid Kagome down on the floor. Kikyo looked at her reincarnation, tears spilling down her already wet cheeks. Sango had refused to come in.

Shippo was out there with her, trying to comfort her, yet he needed comfort as well. Kikyo then knew what she had to do. She had fulfilled her duty as Kagome's trainer. It was her time.

“Let me be alone with her.” Kikyo requested. She caught Kaede's eye and her younger sister immediately understood, and so did Miroku.

“Lady Kikyo, if you--” but she cut him off with a smile.

“I know, but I want Inuyasha to be happy. And if it means giving Kagome my life, I'll do it. He deserves her and she deserves him! Please, go. Sango needs you, and Shippo needs to be comforted.” both of them nodded and left.

Kikyo sat down beside Kagome and took her hand. She closed her eyes and smiled as warm energy encircled her, the energy left Kikyo's body and entered Kagome's body. A breeze seemed to come from nowhere. Kikyo turned back into the grave soil and bones that had brought her back from the dead and blew away.

The glow soaked into Kagome's skin, and she took her first breath of life once again. She sat up, instantly knowing that she had to find Inuyasha. She ran out of the hut, ignoring Sango and Shippo's cries of amazement.

She finally found him, standing on the edge of a cliff, holding a transformed Tetsusaiga against his stomach. She felt time freeze then suddenly go back. He was beginning to slide it in.

“STTOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOPPPPPPPPPPP!” she screamed, running to him and jerking the sword out of his hands. Tears were pouring down her cheeks as she looked up into his startled eyes.

“K-Kagome? How...I saw you die!” he said. She laughed hysterically, trying to regain her composure after seeing him almost kill himself.

“Kikyo...she brought me back...she gave me her life...Inuyasha...how could you...almost kill yourself?” she sobbed holding the hilt of the Tetsusaiga, now detransformed, to her chest. Her head was bent and she felt her legs go weak and she fell to the ground, sobbing out the pain.

Inuyasha stared at her and his senses suddenly kicked in. He dropped to his knees and dragged her into his embrace, tears pouring down his own cheeks. He sniffed around her neck, memorizing her scent.

Kagome laughed at the feel of his nose on her neck, so much like a dog. A lovable dog. He brought his head up and smiled at her. He kissed her and she gasped, this time it was so much more than the first kiss.

Because this time when they separated she knew that she wouldn't have to leave him ever! But she didn't expect him to say what he did when they separated.

“I love you so much, Kagome!” he went back to his task off sniffing her neck, only this time he licked her neck as well. Conveying affection like a dog!

“I love you, too.” she whispered. They were like that until the sun pierced the night. And the sun touched their sleeping forms, they didn't know what might lay ahead with Naraku, but they did know they could beat it if they were together.
