Hidden Pain - Chapter One
Disclaimer: I don't own Inuyasha. I wish I did, but that's just the way things go. So don't sue me for using it in my little story.

Kagome Higarashi pulled herself out of bed as her little brother's voice echoed throughout the hallway. “KAGOME!!!!” Souta yelled as he bounded up the stairs. The boy jumped into her room. “You better get downstairs. You were supposed to make me breakfast this morning and mom is mad.” Kagome sighed. `Just great. Another shit filled day,' she thought as she ran a hand through her hair. “Alright, Souta I'm coming.”
The boy ran back out of his older sister's room. Kagome followed slowly and walked into the kitchen where her mother was waiting with an angry look on her face. “Kagome Higarashi, why in the hell did you not make your brother his breakfast like you were supposed to?” her mother shouted at her. Before Kagome even had a chance to reply her mother smacked her in the face. Kagome was about to yell back at her mother but knew what would happen if she did. A frown spread across her face as she replied coldly to her mother. “I'm sorry. It won't happen again.” She turned to go back up the stairs when her mother pulled her back by her hair. “When we get home today the house better be sparkling,” her mother growled. Kagome flinched and nodded. “Good,” her mother said, her mood changing back to its cheery appearance. “And if we come back and the house is not clean, you will get a beating so bad your ass will fall off. Do you hear me, bitch?” her mother went on. Kagome turned back and looked at her mother. “Yes ma'am.”
Kagome trudged back up the stairs to her bedroom as she heard her mother and brother close the door behind them. She paused at the top step until she heard the car pull out of the driveway. “Why the hell am I putting up with this?” she asked herself as she pushed her door open and dragged herself inside.
She went into the bathroom to inspect the damage. There was a bruise forming on her left cheek, and there was blood trickling onto her forehead from where her mother had pulled her hair. The girl sighed and went over to turn on the shower. She undressed and stepped in, the water relaxing her. “I think I'll skip today so I can get that housework done,” she mused.
Kagome stepped out of the shower and dried herself off. Her head was starting to ache as she walked into her bedroom. “Damn mother and her `discipline',” she muttered as she pulled out a black long sleeved tee that had a no smoking sign and said “There are cooler ways to die.” She hooked her bra and pulled the shirt on. She pulled on her favorite underwear and her black pants with black straps that crossed in the back and went right to work brushing out her long ebony hair and left it down, which was something the girl rarely did.
Going back into the bathroom, she put her coverup over the bruise that had turned purple on her cheek. She put on heavy eyeliner and black eyeshadow and colored her lips black. The girl stepped back and inspected herself. “Whatever,” she muttered and flipped the lights off and slid down the railing on the stairs.

For the next couple of hours Kagome cleaned her whole house until it shined, with the exception of her room. She knew her mother didn't care about that. The girl put away all the cleaning products she had used and went back up to her room. As she walked to her closet, she moved the mouse for her computer, and it went back to her desktop.
After throwing on her black converses, she signed online. “Damn. Nobody's on,” she said as she plopped into her desk chair. She signed off and shut down her computer. Looking at her watch, she went back downstairs. “I still have time to get to school before 4th period,” she said, walking over to the closet by the front door and grabbing her skateboard out. It was black and had loads of stickers on it. Her favorite one said “First Law of Science: Don't Spit Into the Wind.” Kagome threw open the door, grabbed her bag and made her way to Shikon High.
She walked in the front doors just as the bell for the end of third period went off. Teenagers rushing to get to their next class filled the hallways. Kagome pushed through the crowd and got to her fourth period class, which was art. She plopped down in a seat in the back and waited for the bell to ring. About two minutes later Kagome's friend Sango walked in and sat in a seat next to her. She was wearing a blood red shirt that said “I will dance on the day the preps die,” in black lettering. She was also wearing pants similar to Kagome's, but the straps in the back were the same color red as her shirt.
“Hey Sango,” Kagome said, not even looking up from her sketch she was working on vigorously. “Oh the usual,” the older girl told her friend. “You just lazy, or did your mom beat you up again?” Sango asked bending over to get her sketchbook out of her bag. “Well I was getting up and Souta comes in and he's all telling me that Mom said that I was supposed to make him breakfast and now I am in trouble,” she started. “So by then I already knew I was either going to have to skip or be late, because when I don't make Souta breakfast whenever she feels I should she gets mad `cause she'll have to be late for work.
“So I follow Souta into the kitchen and before I even have a chance to say anything she starts yelling at me and smacking me. Then I tell her it won't happen again and I try to go back upstairs and she like pulls out a whole bunch of my hair. So I stayed home and cleaned myself up and cleaned the house like she told me.” Kagome finished her sketch and story as her friends Miroku and Inuyasha came in and sat in front of them. Miroku was wearing a plain dark purple tee with black pants with zippers everywhere. Inuyasha was wearing the same outfit as Miroku's only the shirt was dark red.
Sango scribbled something on a piece of paper and gave it to Kagome. The girl's eyes scanned the note and she nodded at Sango. Their two friends still couldn't know about Kagome's problem with her mother. Not yet at least.

Well that was the first chapter. On my other stories, I just kept posting chapters without any reviews. And they all sorta failed. So if you want me to continue with the story, I'm gonna need at least 5 reviews. Ja Ne!
