Kagome was looking at her reflection in the mirror. She was completely entranced by it. She had finished her bath, as much as she could and was distracted by the lights reflection.
She was standing naked, water dripping from her body, when Keade came in to check on her. Keade shook her head and grabbed a towel to help dry the girl off.
“I’ll get the spare room ready for you along with some clothing. Follow me child.” Keade said.
Kagome followed Keade through the shrine house. They went down the hallway and to the end room. Keade opened the door and flicked on the light. It was a small and traditional Japanese style room. Keade went to the closet and pulled out the futon for Kagome to sleep one.
Kagome still hadn’t gotten dressed, she was staring at Keade as she put together the futon. Keade looked at the girl still standing in the towel she was given in the bathroom.
“You should put those cloths on.” Keade said. Kagome looked at Keade with a strange intensity. “What are you looking for child?” Keade asked.
“Who was here?” She questioned. Keade sighed.
“Just sleep now child. I will help you with everything in the morning.” Keade looked at the girl and sighed again. “Do you need help getting dressed?”
Kagome looked at the clothing. “I don’t remember how they work.” Keade gave a small smile and grabbed the clothing on the floor, helping Kagome get dressed.
“Now sleep. Everything will come back to you.” Keade said as she walked out of the room and shut the door.
Kagome walked to the futon and touched it. Then sat on it, smiled and fell back and began to roll around. Finding the opening to get underneath the covers she crawled underneath and squirmed around. When she was finally comfortable she noticed the lights were still on. She frowned, got up and turned the lights off as she had before.
She finally settled down into a deep sleep.

Miroku placed Sota down on his bed and pulled the covers up onto him so he would stop shivering. InuYasha had disappeared when they returned to their house. It wasn’t a home, the place where they lived lacked the essential thing to be a home; the feeling of love inside. There was no real love relation between anyone, he warmed up a bit when Sango came around but that was it.
Miroku sighed. “What can you do though?” He muttered to himself. He took one last look at Sota to make sure he was all right and started to leave. But he was stopped by the sound of Sota calling out for Kagome. That’s when remembered. Sota had his sister’s diary and it might explain a few things about what happened to her before she disappeared.
Miroku quickly turned around and did a scan of the room. ‘Where would I hide a diary?’ He thought. Miroku knew that Sota was very secretive, he gave InuYasha a run for his money with the amount of secrets that he kept. This diary not only would be his biggest secret but also a treasured memory and prized possession.
Miroku saw that there was nothing really out in the open, that meant that Sota had stuff under the bed and in the closet. He went into the closet and looked around for a few moments until he found what he was looking for.
It was a hollowed out area in the wall that was covered to look regular. Inside there was a fireproof trunk that had a key to it. Miroku looked around the area and found the key. Opening the trunk he found what he was looking for, a pink fuzzy notebook that said ‘keep out Sota or I’ll kill you’. He chuckled, he never had siblings but he could imagine well enough what it was like.
He grabbed the book and put everything back in order. He didn’t think that Sota would wake up any time soon so he wasn’t worried about him finding it missing. He hoped that the last few journal entries would give him some answers.

Sitting in his room, Miroku began to read the journal entries. Of course he had to read the whole thing, but he would do that later. He opened to the last entry the flipped back about ten pages. The date was marked two weeks before her disappearance. He began to read. There was nothing mentioning the dreams or anything, just normal teenager stuff, boys, school, clothing, excess drama, annoying little brothers. He continued reading, the next entry though began to talk about a weird dream. But it didn’t go into detail.
He continued on. It wasn’t really mentioned much. Just the phrase ‘you have to die to live’. It was on the fourth entry that he read that Kagome had put in the dream in detail.
Maybe if I write everything down the dream will go away. I’m just getting so creeped out by it. It’s so strange, I’m walking and then there’s a mirror in front of me. It’s showing my reflection, then the reflection changes. It’s like the person there looks like me but I know it’s not me. But the change is so subtle it’s hard to tell, to anyone that didn’t know me it would seem as if the person there was me. But I know it’s not. Her hair is different, and her skin is white more white than mine, and her eyes are dark and cold. She scares me, it’s like me but not me. Maybe this is a warning so I should watch out for what I could become, but on the same level I know that’s not me in the reflection, that that’s someone else that looks like me. Well anyways, the mirror shatters and glass flies everywhere, pieces strike me and I bleed and fall, that’s when the voice come and tells me I must die to live. So I look up and there is a lady there, it’s frightening because she was the lady in the mirror, she’s me yet not. I don’t know it’s all so confusing. But she smiles at me, her smile doesn’t reach her eyes, there is pure evil in her eyes and I’m more frightened than I’ve ever been. So I back away, I’m on the ground and there is grass and trees everywhere. Then I feel something behind me. Someone is standing behind me, I start shaking, cause I can sense it’s evil, it’s ill intent towards me. I just want to be protected. The person behind me grabs me and I scream. I struggle and he looses his grip, and I drop to the ground. It’s like I’m sucked down and spit up. But when I come back up the woman is there and there is a man with her. She called him ‘her mate’…and then she called someone else ‘that fool’… I don’t know, all I know is that I need to be gone away from them…but with them in front of me and it being all dark I don’t know where to go. So I hold myself, there is some warmth…I’m so scared…how could a dream be so frightening. But it ends always the same, dog ears and a silverish white color flashing by to protect something. Dear, I hope it’s me. And when the silver and dog-ears fade so do the bad man and woman. I don’t like this dream, that girl and guy are scary, and I don’t like scary. I sketched out what the girl looks like, just so I can stare at her face. I want this to stop, I want to find the silver dog-ears.
~Kagome Higurashi

Miroku looked at the sketch that had fallen out when he turned the page. He gasped slightly, he thought the girl she was describing might be Kikyo, because of what Sota told him earlier. Now looking at the sketch he was pretty damn sure that it was Kikyo. He never trusted Kikyo, now was his chance to prove to everyone else that she was the one inside double-crossing them. Miroku would have to get Sota in on this, and that girl that might be Kagome. ‘Scratch that, no one but me and Sota, that way it will look less suspicious.’ He thought.
Another thing that got him was the silver dog-ears, the girl wanted them, she sought them for protection. He wondered if the girl meant InuYasha, but InuYasha wouldn’t protect just anyone. Unless. It began to make perfect sense. InuYasha’s anxiety tonight coincided with possibly Kagome’s return. Kagome was looking for protection from the silver dog-ears. Could it be that Kagome was InuYasha’s life mate?
‘Best keep that to myself.’ Thought Miroku, but if Kagome was killed by Kikyo, would she come fore revenge? And if it was Kikyo, who was the man she called her mate, it couldn’t be InuYasha. Miroku sighed. He was on to something big and he only had bits and pieces. Not to mention if any word was spread about his actions he could be very well killed. Not because of betrayal, but by digging into something that he shouldn’t be digging into.
He smiled. ‘That’s what I do best.’ The thought.
Miroku went back to reading the diary and looking at the pictures that went along with the entries. He read the whole thing before the sun rose. He stayed up all night making notes and piecing things that he knew together. Next stop, crime reports, family and friends of Kagome, Keade then Sota when he regained consciousness. Looking over the notes he had, he placed everything back and hid the stuff under his mattress. This way no one would find it. Unwanted eyes seemed to find it’s way onto stuff he didn’t want them to be looking at. Sighing he laid down on his bed and passed out.

“Where were you?” A voice snapped. InuYasha looked up as he entered his bedroom.
“What the hell are you doing here, Kikyo?” He asked as he shut the door and began to strip.
Kikyo was staring at him from his bed. “I asked you a question and I demand an answer from you.” She snapped again. InuYasha growled at her, he was in no mood to be playing her little games.
“None of your damn business. Now get out of my room.” He snarled at her. She pouted and walked up to him and pressed her body against him.
“What’s wrong baby?” She asked. InuYasha just got more irritated, his instincts were telling him that this wasn’t the person that was supposed to be next to him. He pushed her off sending her stumbling back.
“Get the fuck out.” He snarled again. Kikyo sneered at him and stormed out of the room. InuYasha sighed as he leaned against the shut door. His instincts were calmer now that she was gone.
‘That was weird’ he thought, shaking his head. His instincts never had acted up like that before. He walked across the room and fell back on his bed. The smell from Keade’s house was tormenting him. It took him everything not to go upstairs when he was there. That smell was intoxicating.
Sleep slowly took him, and he drifted off into a deep sleep.

The metal door of the warehouse slammed opened. A woman stormed into the room causing the people inside to back away clearing a path for her. She stormed through the room and into the back room.
“FUCKING ASSHOLE” She shouted as she entered the room. The man that was there looked up from his desk. “I can’t believe him,” she seethed, “the nerve of him. To turn me down, ME!” She began to pace around, muttering to herself.
The man at the desk looked up and sighed.
“What happened now?” The man asked coldly. The woman turned around and sneered at him.
“He rejected me!” She nearly screeched. The man flinched.
“And that bothers me how?” He questioned. She looked like she was going to burst a vein.
“It should bother you!” She shouted. “That means that he doesn’t want me, that means I’m losing his attention. Means I’m loosing status with him.” The man frowned at that.
“Well I guess that’s something that don’t want.” He said. “Fix it!”
“How the hell?!” She snapped right back.
“You’ll find a way my darling Kikyo.” The man sneered. “Now go your presence is bothering me.”
“Bastard!” She snapped as she walked out of the room.

Around two o’clock in the afternoon Miroku roused from his sleep. He rolled out of bed and hit the floor with a bang. Staring at the ceiling for a few minutes he began to gain consciousness. Slowly sitting up, Miroku leaned against the bed. He dreamed about Kagome and her life. It was a happy dream, until her abstract death. Miroku sighed and got up.
Stretching he walked across the room to his dresser, got some clothing and went to take a shower. Coming out of the bathroom towel over the shoulders when there was a knock on the door.
“Coming.” He walked over to the door and opened. “Ahhh, my lovely Sango!” He exclaimed as he saw Sango standing at the door.
“Can it monk.” She snapped. She walked into the room and Miroku shut the door behind her.
“How can I help you?” He asked with growing curiosity. Sango never came into his room, or near him most of the time. She sat down on the bed and looked up at him.
“How’s Sota?” She asked with concern in her eyes.
“He’s doing okay.” Miroku responded as he sat next to her on the bed. Sango moved away from him a little so she would be out of his groping range. He put his hands up in mock innocents, making Sango laugh a little and relax.
“He’s completely unconscious and probably won’t regain it for a while.” He said solemnly. Sango dropped her head. She looked at Sota like she looked at her own brother, and his illness deeply affected her.
“He’ll get better though, right?” She asked Miroku, looking for reassurance. She was looking for his comfort, and he was more than willing to give it. They didn’t realize it but they were in love and had been for a while. Obvious to the rest of the world but not to them, to them they were co-workers and acquaintances.
Miroku didn’t look back at her though. His mind was somewhere else, on someone else. He looked up at her, not hearing the question.
“What?” He asked. Sango got pissed.
“Stupid hentai.” She snarled. Miroku looked confused, and Sango stormed out.
“What’d I’d do?” He asked out loud still confused at what just happened.
