Chapter Two
The librarian smiled as her daily visitor came stumbling in, head in the clouds.
“You're extra early, Kagome.”
“I have five exams to study for. Hope I don't cause too much trouble.”
“Oh it's no problem, dear. You know you're always welcome here.”
“Thank you, Ms. Kaede.”
After going through all five subjects successfully and completely understanding everything, she packed everything and walked out the library's wide entrance, passing a silver-haired figure without stopping to look back.
The first bell of the day rang and students of all grades rushed to their classes, as did Kagome. She hurried to her AP history class; satisfied she was well prepared for the midterm exam that day.
Students, most of them which were seniors, nervously settled down in their assigned seats and murmured to each other about the exam.
Soon enough, the second bell rang, signifying the beginning of the period.
“Students, we have a new student,” Mr. Totousai announced. “Sesshoumaru Takada. Please make him feel welcome.”
A boy stood beside him, seemingly a senior. Kagome recognized the silver hair she glimpsed as she exited the library.
It struck her like lightning. Sesshoumaru Takada. He was the heir of the Inutaisho Corps, one of the most successful corporations in the world. They owned half of Japan and parts of other countries as well. In other words, he was filthy rich. Definitely someone to stay away from or else no good would come out of it. Regardless, Kagome knew it was a chance to learn more about business for she wished to take the occupation of a CEO when she graduated college.
`What am I thinking? I will be way more successful than Inutaisho Corps, but I will not learn from stuck up people. I will make my own way through this world after I secure Mom and Souta's living condition.'
Sighs brought Kagome back to reality. Looking around the room, she realized both girls and boys were sighing, the boy population looking depressed while the girls looked blissful and mischievous.
Sighing herself, Kagome realized how much effect Sesshoumaru Takada was causing just with his presence. He had a natural dominating air that just screamed his presence and presented him intimidating. He was dressed in a business suit as if to prove his parents' status.
Sesshoumaru settled into the empty seat by Kagome whom was met by many hostile glares, which she ignored. She also ignored the gorgeous sought-after male beside her.
Running a hand through her raven tresses in an attempt of showing nervousness and anxiety, she decided to say nothing to the guy next to her and use extreme shyness and anxiety as her excuse to her friends for her lack of friendliness to the new student.
Mr. Totousai handed out the scantron sheets and the test packet. “Class, you may begin.”
Kagome noticed that Sesshoumaru had received a test as well and wondered how he was possibly going to pass this test that he had never studied for because after all, `Rich kids aren't supposed to be smart, are they?'
For the rest of the period, she concentrated on her exam, noting with satisfaction that her short study session had covered all parts of the exam.
After the period was over, Kagome hurried off to her second period of the day, one of the two classes that weren't AP: Gym.
Noting happily that Sesshoumaru didn't go to this class, she entered the girls' locker rooms.
The unit they were currently in was basketball, which was fine with Kagome. She didn't especially like basketball, but she was fairly good at it, something she had also gotten from her father whom had loved basketball as well. The two used to play all the time, but when Mr. Higurashi died, Kagome's interest in the game died as well.
Kagome started stretching while most other people were getting in a few shots. Eri hurried over when she spotted her friend, Yuka and Ayumi not far behind.
The three bombarded Kagome with news of Sesshoumaru Takada and complaints that they had yet to see him. Kagome shrugged off her irritation and agreed with whatever her friends were saying without actually paying attention.
“Students, it's time to pick teams,” Ms. Ayame started, “It's Yuka, Yume, Sakura, and Shira's turns to be captains. Shira, you get first pick.”
“Kagome!” Shira announced. Nobody was surprised, but the other captains looked dejected.
“Eri,” Yuka called.
“Shino,” Sakura called, and so it went.
The games started and with Kagome as the offense, Shira's team left the others in the dust. No surprise there.
After class was over, Ms. Ayame called Kagome over to speak to her privately.
“Kagome, why didn't you join the girls' basketball team?”
“I didn't want to.”
“But why? You're so good at basketball.”
“I don't like basketball.”
“I'm sorry to hear that.”
“…”
“Well, we have a game today after school on our school grounds against Ookami High. Our offense, Mina, hurt her leg so she can't play.”
“You want me to take her place?”
“Oh yes, that would be wonderful! It would be very much appreciated.”
“Okay.”
“What did you say?”
“I said okay. I have nothing to do today after school anyways.”
“Oh thank you! I appreciate this very much!”
“No problem. See you sometime later, Ms. Ayame.”
Kagome waved and retreated to the gym lockers.
“So Kagome, what did Ms. Ayame say?” Eri asked nonchalantly.
“Yeah, did you get in trouble?” Yuka asked, still angry that someone else had chosen Kagome.
“No. I'm just playing for Mina after school.”
“You mean against the Ookami Team?!” Ayumi asked, shocked.
“Yeah.”
“You do know that it's a boy's team, right?” Ayumi asked again.
“No. I didn't know. But what difference does that make?”
“You'll be squashed like pumpkins!” Eri squealed dramatically.
“Interesting.”
“Hey, have you heard that the coach of Team Ookami is Ms. Ayame's boyfriend? I heard he's really hot… and young!” Yuka started. Kagome zoned out.

Four more classes passed and Sesshoumaru was in every one of them. `How can a rich kid be in so many AP courses?' Kagome asked herself. `Of course. Money.'
The last class, thankfully, was French, her other non- AP course and the celebrity dubbed Sesshoumaru did not take this course. The bad thing was, Kagome had the most trouble in this course and the teacher was boring as hell.
“Class, I will now pass out your new vocabulary sheets,” announced Ms. Pages.
“Awwwww,” groaned the students.
“Now class, you will have to memorize all 72 words on here meaning their definition, spelling, and conjugations.”
A boy fainted at the thought of more French work and a girl screamed. The boy was sent to the nurse and the girl was sent to the principal's office.
After imprinting each word solidly into her brain painfully, Kagome sighed relief and collapsed on her desk. No one giggled or laughed because almost everyone else was doing the same. Ms. Pages was reading a book in the corner of the room.
The bell finally rang and several students screamed with joy. School was finally over.
After that painstaking class of French, Kagome wasn't sure she wanted to play basketball against some brutes anymore.
`Of course, I'm supposed to be the perfect student who never stands anyone up, let alone a team.'
So she made her suffering way to the gym.
“Here's Mina's uniform!” Ms. Ayame greeted.
Kagome managed a weak smile and took the dry-cleaned uniform.
The bleachers were crowded as Kagome reentered the gym wearily. She took over the role of captain as she told the team the plan, making it up as she went. Amazingly, it actually made sense.
The team consisted of Kagome, Yuka, Arimi, Sae, and Momoko. Sae was good at passing. Yuka was exceptional at stealing the ball. Arimi had unbreakable defense. Momoko was good at defense too, and Kagome was all around excellent at everything. Since Mina was the best shooter, Kagome was to take the role. Yuka and Sae were to pass all the balls to Kagome whom could shoot from very great distances. Arimi and Momoko were to pass all balls to Yuka and Sae to give Kagome a chance at getting closer to the basket before shooting.
The referee blew the whistle and threw the ball into the air. Kagome jumped for the ball and saw a flash of silver. Then the game began.
A/N: That took me a painstaking time of two hours! I kept changing my mind on how the story was going to spin.
