High School Drama
Chapter 1
Why can't I be like those “perfect girls” that rules my high school? I mean they have everything a girl could wish for. They are insanely rich, very popular, perfect body, perfect face, perfect skin, perfect hair, and the list goes on.
Don't get me wrong, I DON”T DISS my appearance. I totally accept what God had given me. If He wants me to have long, frizzy, black hair, thin body, oily skin, and pimpled face (Ok, I'm exaggerating in that part. I only got a pimple whenever I have my period) then so be it.
So, you might ask why I totally want to have what those “perfect girls” have: It's because those girls can snag a man in a snap and man do I need one. I'm sixteen and a senior in Milky Way High, the only sixteen year old senior and have the most irritating mother. She berated me for not having a boyfriend at this age, yadda…. yadda……. yadda…….
“Kagome, you'll be late for school.” My mom shouted.
“Coming, Mom!” I shouted back at her and quickly dashed downstairs. Trust me you don't want to face her wrath. I already did when I was fourteen when I was so late in coming home. The thing is I have things to do in drama class and I forgot to tell my parents about it. So when I reached home almost eleven my mom berated me and I cannot even speak to defend myself. She gave me the silent treatment because she said her trust in me is gone and she ground me for a week. Thank God my father intervened and he made me explain everything and my mom forgive me and say sorry off course. But the thing is I have already done the grounding thing for three days and I cannot even see my friends. I mean I am not popular, far from it, but they are really my close friends and we share everything.
As I reached down the stairs and to the kitchen my mom gave me a once over and a frowned was formed in her pretty face.
“You know honey those glasses look too geeky for you. I mean can't you find anything stylish that will match your eyes? Or you can wear contacts.” My mom said staring at me intently. She is in her fashion mom mode again and I cannot stop myself to move a step backward. If my mom gets like this, I know there will be another argument this morning.
“Mother!” I cried in irritation. “I like what I am and I'm perfectly fine with my glasses. It's practical, and by the way, thanks for your concern.” I said sarcastically. Can't she accept that I like my look? We've been at this every morning she should already know that I like this glasses even it's, in her own words, ugly.
“And those clothes. Who on earth wear such thing? You could never snag a handsome man, dear. Your sixteen you should have a boyfriend by now.” She continued her rumblings, dismissing whatever I have said, “Dear, at your age I already have one.”
“I'm not like you.” See? See what I mean. This is why I'm so desperate to find someone, anyone so that my mom would stop annoying me. Can you really stand listening to the same thing for four years since you kicked puberty? Off course not, you'll turn crazy and let me tell you I almost reach insanity.
I'm not blaming her for being so delusional, thinking that her daughter would be like her, pretty and popular. Because MAYBE she still thinks in that delusional way of hers that her only daughter can have a boyfriend in high school………. NOT. Not even one boy looked at me. Oh yes, they talked to me only to say sorry for sitting AT me. I'm too invisible, only my best friends know that I'm alive in that freaking school.
I'm a faux pas, a fashion mistake which my mother didn't approve. Let me tell you one thing I don't care about fashion or whatnot. I am very comfortable with my blouse and slacks and who cares if I have braces and moon shaped spectacles it's not like anybody would talk to me.
Or look at me.
Heck, people in my school didn't know I exist.
“Mom, we talked about this a million of times. I DON'T care about men.”
“Are you a les?” my mom gasped in shocked making me almost slide off my chair.
“Very funny, mother. Where's dad?” I said, trying to change the subject which of course a mistake. A tense silence overcomes the kitchen and it took my mom a minute to reply to my stupid question.
“He is still in his trip.” My mom said tersely.
Yea right, I snorted disgustedly. My father is not really the most likeable person. It took me thirteen years to finally realize that my dad's trip is not for business. I don't have any evidence if my allegation of him is true but considering why my mother is crying every night whenever his on a trip, I think my suspicion is true.
Not again, I groaned silently. I have this sneaking suspicion that mom knows that dad's not on a trip. Ok, he is on a trip, a trip to his mistress that is. But I still have no proof of that.
I looked at her sadly but wave goodbye at her nonetheless. I'm stupid to ask her that question but I still can give her privacy to her thoughts. Right? Right.
In my way to my locker, head bowed down as I walked, my friend greeted me with giddiness and full of energy that it almost hurts not to slap her.
Kikyo Martin is not exactly like me. We are too opposite to each other that sometimes I wonder why we are even friends, best friends in fact. Kikyo is more of a fashionista who is trying to get inside the popular crowd in her entire life and in her second year she was finally accepted. She became a cheerleader and idolizes the head cheerleader and the most popular girl in this school- Tara Latrum.
“What?” I snapped at her jumping form, literally. My head just go up and down, up and down following her jumping thingy. I mean she looks like she is gonna, you know, die with excitement. I counted on to ten in my head before I let myself listen to her. Because if not I might strangle her jumping form.
“His coming back! The love of my life is coming back.” She said happily hugging the very shocked me.
“W-Who?” I stuttered not quite getting the gist of it. As far as I know they are twenty four guys that Kikyo like. All handsome, fifteen of it is T.V stars and the rest went to our school.
“The King!” she said irritated, “Kags, remember the king.”
“Elvis Presley? I thought his dead.”
“Of course his dead.” She said shaking his head but a smile was on her pretty face, “Inuyasha Legran, the Royal king.” She said dreamily.
I nodded, smiling. How could I forgot, Kikyo has a crush with Inuyasha as far as I can remember. It started in our freshman years; he was the chosen king of the Royals because of his looks and popularity.
What are the Royals, you ask. The Royals rule this school. No one and I mean no one ever dared to fight back at them. What they want, they get. And if they don't want you even you are a teacher or a principal you will be gone in a snap. Just think of the show Meteor Garden and its F4. The royals are just like them; rich and powerful. They are all high and mighty with jackets that announces their club. There are only ten of them: Kouga, Ayame, Naraku, Ginta, Kagura, Miroku, Shippo, Rin, Tara and their king Inuyasha Legran.
Now he is coming back together with Ginta and Naraku after they won in the baseball game with the National High school. And Inuyasha is not only in the baseball team but he is also the president of the karate club and his best friend Miroku the vice. He is SC-Pres. And Kikyo's long time crush and all of the girls in this school's crush. Exaggerating? Not… you see all of those Royal guys are all hot men. That's why many of the female population fell for them and get there hearts broken.
“He's here?” I asked disinterested as I situated myself comfortably in my homeroom sit. All those musings and my best friend's rumbling made us reach the classroom pretty fast.
“Don't tell me you don't like him. I mean he is so handsome, tall, and look at his body it is to drool for.” She said starry eyed. A drool is almost visible in her lips as she pictured Inuyasha, the love of her life.
“Yuck, stop drooling. And I don't like him.” Technically I also like him not go gaga like him but pretty much like his looks. Like everyone around here. Look, I could not deny that he is hot because even old women say so. Really they do and it is really creepy. I like his looks and not his personality; I mean I heard rumors about how vicious that guy is when he gets angry. And I really don't want to know about someone like that.
“What's up guys?” my best friend ever since childhood asked. She sat down besides me and looks at us queerly. But one look at my face answered her question. She smiled showing her pearly white teeth. Because of that smile she was asked to be in a commercial for Colgate but she declined, she is just too sporty and tomboyish. “Him again huh?”
“Of course it's him,” Kikyo scoffed at her, “It's not like we are talking about YOUR Miroku.” Kikyo said teasingly to her friend.
“I do not like him.” Was the angry reply of Sango. “He is a pervert, and so arrogant”
“So nice, charming and you like him since grade school,” Kikyo said cutting her off. It was her favorite pastime to tease Sango about Miroku. Oh she denied it fervently but one looked at her burning face she knew that everything Sango said is only denial.
Here we go again, I sighed dramatically. Kikyo would tease Sango for her crush with Miroku and Sango will deny everything that Kikyo would say. The problem is every time Kikyo would mention Miroku, Sango's face became red.
I partly listen to their conversation as my mind went back to my dad. God, he is such an asshole. Letting my beloved mother cry because of his wanton ways. If I could just do anything about it but sadly I can't for I don't have any evidences and my mom would not listen to me.
“What happened to you?” Sango asked worriedly as she noticed that I space out- again.
“My father is on his trip once again.” I answered her dully. My friends nodded with understanding. Ever since I figured everything out, I told everything to my friends.
“I still can't understand why your mother still stays with that jerk. If I were her I would leave the minute I know his cheating.” Kikyo said to me.
“I know you would.” Sango said dryly to her, “Don't worry Kags everything would be alright.” Sango said comforting me. She smiled sadly for she herself experienced what I had experienced. To her case, her mother divorced her dad to go to another man. Now all that was left at the Tanuki household was her balding father and her beloved brother. Most of the times she acted like their mother unconsciously.
Sure, everything would be alright. Like I would believe that. I know my father based on what mother had told me. He is a ladies man when he was single but when he met my mom she became his only lady. Yea right, like that would happen. Old habits die hard as they say and things being right would never happen. That's why the more I hate my father, the more I hate men in general and no one would ever steal my heart.
BBBBBBBBBBRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRIIIIIIIIINNNNNNNNNNNGGGGGG
The bell signals the end of the day. Students begun to go out of their respective classroom and a group of friends stands out among the rest. They are all wearing those haughty looks that no one could attest. A red and violet colored jacket was draped in there shoulders.
“Hey Yash!” Miroku said, waving his hands to his friend's face to get his attention, “What's your problem?”
“Not again,” Inuyasha murmured as he saw almost all the female population of the school line up in the auditorium.
“You were cast as the lead character again, huh?” Miroku asked his friend, fake pity was visible in his voice.
It happens all the time whenever there was a play in the school because Inuyasha really likes acting and always in the lead rule whenever he auditions for a part and when the girls knew this they would all line up hoping against hope that they could be paired up with him. And ended up miserably. Because they cannot get their act straight the director always asks Kagura, who like Inuyasha is great in acting.
“I don't know about them, are they crazy or something? I mean like I would like those losers. They just end up embarrassing herself.” Inuyasha said. He really can't understand those people, he knows that they are afraid in him and his group but they still kept on trying to be with them. And whenever they came face to face they would just stutter like what happen to the previous plays, “Remember that time when a girl choked on her own saliva and needed to be bought in the clinic or how about the time when a girl pathetically seduced me. Ever heard of subtlety?”
Both of them cracked up.
“It's the price for being handsome.” Miroku said arrogantly and smile to the girls he past by who immediately giggled and red on the face.
“You audition for what?” I asked bewildered. A play is never Kikyo's thing maybe mine but I stopped acting when I was fourteen.
“Romeo and Juliet, what's the problem with that?” Kikyo said defensively. “And FYI I really like to act. It's practically my thing.”
“You don't like acting or anything like that” Sango asked confused. “And how could you audition in that line?” She looked at the line and gasped in disbelief.
“I was the first to audition.”
“I hear that Inuyasha is Romeo,” I said sly, “That's why you audition right?
“Of course not,” Kikyo denied but one look from us, she gave in, “Ok, ok, yes. It's because of Him. Happy?”
“Oh Juliet,” Sango said to me.
“Oh Romeo, my Romeo. Where arthou my Romeo?” I said my voice is full of love and emotion in other words, acting. “God, how can they act so sickenly sweet?”
“Don't know, maybe it's because there so in love?” Kikyo said hotly, “I don't know about you guys but I love Romeo and Juliet.”
“Sure you do.” Sango and I both said at once and laugh our hearts out.
Long silver hair, golden orbs like the sun and sinful lips sprouting sweet nothings to me. My knees went weak as he continues gazing at me lovingly and I cannot help myself but to give him a sweet smile. He looked at me in the eyes and I cannot help but murmur his name as his lips come closer to mine.
“Inuyasha”I said but before he could kiss me a craze fan girl of his pulled me away from him and I shouted in pain as the craze fan girl pull my hair.
“AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!” I shouted and before I know it I woke up. My heart is beating fast which I don't know why and the dream felt so real that I almost believe that it is real. But of course when I know that my leading man is Inuyasha I just know that everything is a dream.
Thank God that is only a nightmare. Weird but still a nightmare.

“Ms. Latrum!” Ms. Mann called to her student. She prided herself for not being afraid of the queen bee (Queen Royal) and not acts as a sissy. After all they are the students and she is the teacher even they threaten her or give her a gift she won't change her decisions. She is not easily dissuaded.
“What is it Ms. Mann?” Tara asked with fake politeness. She detached herself to her friends and approached her science teacher.
“About your science grade,” Ms. Mann started but was cut off by Tara's shrieking.
“Ms. Mann where did you get that outfit? I must have it myself it's so nice.” Tara asked referring to Ms. Mann's red knee length skirt and green and yellow t-shirt. Tara looked at her enviously and a sweet smile was plastered on her pretty face.
The teacher's cheek grew a shade of pink at the student's comment. She fumbled nervously not used to being appreciated. Mostly all her students usually joke about her taste of clothes but because Tara, the trendsetter of the school, complimented her she must not be color blind.
“This?” Ms. Mann asked, “Really it looks nice?”
“Of course Ms. Mann, you look fabulous.” She said appreciatively to her teacher and smiled kindly, “So why did you call me again?”
“About your science grade,” Ms Mann said, “I'll give you an extra credit assignment to pull it up to a B. I don't normally give extra credit to a student but I think you deserve it. I know that you have a reason why you rarely went to class.”
“Thank you Ms. Mann. I really have lots of things to do that my body can't keep up. So sometimes I'm trapped in the clinic or in my house.” Tara said, hiding a smirk. “I'm sorry Ms. Mann but my friends are calling me.” At that said she wave goodbye to the blushing teacher and dashed to her friends.
“What a nice girl,” Ms. Mann said to herself, “She is nothing like what all those people say about her. She is such a sweet kid”

“Done sucking up yet?” Kagura asked not looking up to her friend. She was busy filing her nails. But she momentarily stops on what she's doing, and her red eyes are dancing with merriment as she looked up and face her friend squarely, “Since when did shopping became hazardous to your health?”
“Didn't you know that shopping really can make you sick? Especially if you got a D in Science,” Rin said all too seriously, waving a finger to a laughing Kagura. Minutes later she joined Kagura and laughed their hearts out, “That teacher is so blind. Anyone could see through that line.”
“Ha, Ha!” Tara said sarcastically, “No offense or anything but her class is a bore. It's better in the mall than in her classroom. And about the project some nerd will be happy to do it for me” Tara scoffed at her friend. In all of them she was known to be the shoppaholic anything on the mall that she find cute she would buy it, “But have you seen what she's wearing?”
“God, that was hideous.” Ayame said. Then her attention went back to his boyfriend and she smiled to her boyfriend teasingly. Kouga growled and kiss her. The two of them begun dating in their freshman years and now that they are a junior the more their relationship became close.
All the others just stared at them disgustingly but said nothing.
“Talk about Christmas tree,” Tara remarked and turn her attention to her boyfriend. She giggled to herself knowing how lucky she was for having him as her boyfriend. She became popular just because of him.
They were in the football field, sitting and laughing with each other. Naraku squished his cigarette to the ground and stand up, “Let's go its ten minutes until the bell will ring.” He said gruffly.
“Look who is in hurry,” Ginta drawled, “Wanting to impress someone Naraku?” The hidden meaning in his words is visible to the group. Naraku was a heart breaker and they know that mostly what Naraku want is sex. They sigh but all stand up and went to the first building, never even stopping to get their books or whatnot. Who cares about it anyway? It's not like those teachers would send them to detention without it.
“You're in my way geek!” Naraku said harshly to a pimpled, all average Joe individual.
The individual being mention scampered away frighten by the group, whimpering `I'm so sorry' on the way. Earning a smirked from Naraku.
The bell had rung signaling the start of class and students hurriedly scampered to their own classrooms. But the Royals leisurely took their time to go in there.
“You're all late!” The teacher shouted it was twenty minutes after the bell had rung after all. The students in the classroom gaze to the door and shake their head in pity. Their teacher is signing his death sentence.
“Or what old man?” Inuyasha sneered at the cowering teacher. His hands are on the table and his friends encircling the poor, shaking teacher.
The teacher sweat dropped at Inuyasha's pensive gaze and fervently shakes his head.
Inuyasha smirked at this, “Good, so can we take our seat SIR?”
“Y-Yes,” the teacher stuttered nervously. He was completely white and the chalk that he was holding broke into two because of his nervousness. As he saw that all of them are all in their seat he begun his class. In the corner of his eye he saw all the Royals busy doing there own thing. Inuyasha just sleep snoring rather loudly, Tara and Rin are busy talking to their phones, Kagura and Ayame are busy talking to each other, Miroku was busy flirting and touching body parts that should not be touched and the rest are busy playing or smoking.
He sigh sometimes he wondered why they bother to go to class.
ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ ZZZZZZZZZ
“Why couldn't they fight back?” I asked to my friend Sango as I watched the Royals talking to each other and whatever they're talking about I know it's not good for some people. It was lunch time and I barely paid attention to my food.
“Good always win against evil.” Sango said nodding her head. I smiled gratefully to her for approving my suggestion but it quickly disappeared when her mouth open, “Oh yeah! This is the real world. Have you forgotten the unwritten rule? That crossing a Royal means the death of you.”
Of course I've never forgotten that unwritten rule. It is always in my mind and without it I would not survive high school.
In Milky Way High there are things you should be reminded off. Before you enter that hellhole of a school you need to remember some rules and trust me you need those in order to survive.
First and for most, THIS IS HIGHSCHOOL A.K.A HELL.
Second most important rule is never and I mean NEVER, EVER cross a Royal. They are popular, loved, admired, and feared by all. No one even the administration would care if they beat you up in front of them. No one on their right mind would stop them. If you want to get away from the misery, you need to transfer school.
And lastly you must remember that the cafeteria is the most important place. It is where you will get branded. You need to sit with your group. The center table where you can see and know everything is reserved for the Royals. Then next to them is the table for the jocks/ cheerleaders, then the table for the cool people, they are the people who pass the wanabee stage and mostly invited to parties. Then there's the filthy rich kids where the bling-bling comes from and cheerleaders mostly suck up to them. Then the table for wanabees, the lowest in the popular crowd status and the highest in the loser status. They are people wanting to get in to the “in” crowd and they will do anything to achieve that. Then there are the nerds, the personal slaves of the cool people. They do their homework and project and in exchange for that is protection. Then there's the table for the Goths and next to them are the skaters. Both groups hate the preppy or the “in” crowd. Then there's the table for the Geeks, they are social outclassed, the most bullied group of individuals. Then there's my table. There are only five of us including Sango. We belong to the Nobody's, the invisible individuals that nobody would care and nobody knows. They are the lowest status. The all around losers.
Oh yeah, there's also the catwalk. Individual's social status will go up and down in the catwalk depending on how you act, look, and walk. And if you don't want to risk social suicide then sit with your own group. It is rare to have friends in a different table but unfortunately I have one and she is sitting in the cheerleading table.
“Of course I know the rule. It help me survived high school.” I said to Sango but her attention was not on me anymore, “Sango, Sango are you listening to me?” I asked her then I notice the silence. The kind of silence in the horror movies when you're expecting something bad to happen. That kind of silence envelope the whole cafeteria.
I followed Sango's gaze and gasped in horror. There in the center is Rin, furious and covered with spaghetti. The girl who spilled the food is kneeling down trying to clean the mess that she created. Muttering sorry.
Rin's face is expressionless but she did nothing to the poor girl, “Don't,” Rin said to her friends, “Don't hurt her now.”
She faced the girl angrily, her eyes is gleaming dangerously. She uttered two words to the poor girl but sent chills to everyone.
“Watch Out.”
I frowned at the words but did nothing and like all the others I went back eating and act like nothing happen.
ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ ZZZZZZZZ
It was his last period but Miroku decided to skip it. He leisurely walked in the school grounds, waving hello to the principal. He was busy fumbling for his cigarettes that he did not notice or evade the girl that blindly ran to his direction.
With a loud thud both individuals fell to the ground in the most uncompromising situation. Her on top of him.
“Oh gosh, I'm so sorry,” Sango said frantically looking wildly at the sides. As she turns her head to see the person she tackles to the ground she felt a hand in her butt. Without looking at his face and without knowing who he is, she punches him hard.
“You pervert!” At that notion she hurriedly ran to her class.
Miroku smiled, impressed that a girl could punch that hard and he gently touch his bruised face.
“Man she could punch.”

“Kagome!” Kikyo shouted frantically at me.
“What? What? Is there something wrong?” I asked as my friend begun tugging me. “No silly” answered Kikyo, “They're posting the people who get a part in Romeo and Juliet!” Kikyo continued excitedly.
“I'm sure you'll get Juliet Ki you were the best. You didn't stutter as much as the other girls did.” I assured her. “Come let's look at that list” As they move closer to the group of people and slowly looked who got Juliet.
I was half expecting that Kikyo will be running to me and telling me she got the part when I saw all eyes on me. “What?” I asked.
“Your Juliet……” Kikyo answered in wonder.
