InuYasha Fan Fiction ❯ High School Haters Stories ❯ another year, different story ( Chapter 1 )

[ T - Teen: Not suitable for readers under 13 ]

Kagome woke up, this was the begging of her new scholar-year, it was her 9th grade, `three more years and I'll be free of the crappy classmates I have, especially Inuyasha'. She pulled up her jeans and her favorite t-shirt, a pink one, Kagome let her long black hair down, as usual. She grabbed a muffin and before her mom could notice, she was on her way to high-school. She was really excited to see again her best friend Sango, her best friend for the past 6 years since she met her at school where they had hated each other at first. With some time, Kagome and Sango learned to love each other despite their different personalities.

“Kagome! Over here!” Sango yelled from across the street, her hand waving excitedly as Kagome approached her.

“Hi Sango, how was your summer?” her friend asked with a bright smile, Sango sighed.

“It was pretty well… until I saw my the lecher of my boyfriend kissing another girl,”

“I can't believe you are still with that man, I never thought you two would survive the summer” Sango rolled her eyes.

“Thank you for supporting me and my relationship Kagome.” She laughed.

“You know it's true… I'm sure you broke up with him after that; am I right?” Sango giggled too nervously.

“Well actually…”

“Hey babe! Enjoyed your summer?” her boyfriend said hugging Sango and kissing her on the cheek.

Her boyfriend, a tall guy with a very short pony tail and hair as dark as the night, was named Miroku. He was known for his constant flirting with the girls, a few mishaps with other ladies and his distinctive piercings in his ear. Even thought Sango had heard million of stories about him cheating all of his girlfriends, she thought she could change this lecher and make him the perfect boyfriend. “That's dumb” was what Kagome had answered her when she told her what she was planning.

“Sango…” Kagome said with a tone filled with deception.

“We'll talk about this later okay Kagome?” Sango offered and Kagome nodded.

“Yeah, right… I've got meet Kouga at the front door.” She said as she walked away.

“We'll catch up later!” Sango half yelled.

“Oh… and here is my beautiful and favorite neighbor and friend of the whole world, hey there Kags.” She heard a masculine voice say.

Kagome turned around with a smile replacing her anger, chocolate met sapphire when her eyes set on his. Kouga, her best friend and next door neighbor, was the only man her mother allowed in her room. Kagome met him when she first moved in at the age of 5 and the two of them quickly became close, mostly because he had developed a crush on her the second he saw her step out of her car. His hair was almost as long as Kagome's, his skin was fairly tanned and his eyes could charm anyone who took some time to stare at them. Kagome looked at him for a moment; he held a dashing smile on his lips as he held his arms open. She quickly launched herself at him and he caught her easily and held her into a tight hug.

“I missed you!” Kouga grumbled as Kagome planted a loud kiss on his cheek.

“Ditto! You look different, are you taller?” Kagome asked as she got free from his hug, he nodded.

“Yeah, you look different too… what is it?” Kagome looked up and down, he smiled. “I know, you're looking prettier than ever.”

“Stop.” She warned with a few giggles and then they heard a scoff.

“If it isn't the wench and her wolf, pathetic.” A guy annoyed said as he passed them by, he shot a nasty look at Kouga before harshly pushing him aside.

It was the person she hated the most in the whole world, Inuyasha. His smooth silvery white hair, honey golden eyes, toned thin body and his smile yelled `arrogance' according to Kagome. She hadn't loathed Inuyasha always; he just seemed to have something against her like some sort of grudge for something she hadn't even done. So for some reason, Inuyasha hated her and Kagome wasn't able to like someone that disrespected her. Just watching him make Kagome's blood boil in anger, she hated the way he talked, the way he walked, the way he laughed; everything about him Kagome hated it and likewise, Inuyasha did the same.

“Jerk,” Kouga mumbled while he kept his eyes on him, Kagome sighed.

“Just ignore him; I'm tired of waiting for his brain to grow.” She said and he looked back at her as he smiled.

“Yeah, well…” he looked into his watch and sighed. “We better get to class, what's on your schedule?”

“I must get to… English, I bet I'll get Miss Kaede for the third time in a row.” Kouga grunted.

“I have chemistry; I wish I didn't have this class… for the third time in a row.” Kagome giggled, he kissed her cheek and stroked it with his thumb a few times. “We need to talk; I have to tell you something.”

“Lunch time?” She said and he nodded. “Alright, I have to go.”

Kouga kissed her again, this time on her forehead and walked away. She sighed, anticipating his talk and knowing her answer already. As much as Kagome loved Kouga, her love couldn't go beyond friendship. Kagome made her way through the hallway and she crossed with Rin. Although the girl was nothing special and many people thought she was related to Kagome because they were very much alike, she was envied by the whole middle school and high school for the sole reason of being Sesshomaru's girlfriend. Sesshomaru, whose looks were exactly like Inuyasha's except perhaps the way his features never seemed to show happiness, was the coolest guy in the whole school. Guys wanted to be him and girls wanted to be with him or at least with his half sibling but for some odd reason, Inuyasha didn't date any of the girls in the school.

“Hi Kagome,” Rin said as Kagome passed her by, she stopped and faked a smile.

“Hey Rin, I wish I could talk but…”

“Don't worry, I just have to tell you that Inu…”

“I'm sorry to be this rude but… I don't care about whatever he is doing or he will do.” Kagome interrupted her and she nodded before she smiled.

“That's okay; I'll leave the surprise part to him then.” Rin waved goodbye as she walked away, Kagome stared at her confused.

Kagome didn't mind it and ran to her class, she took a turn in a corner and stopped when she saw Inuyasha walking with a girl, although she had nothing to hide for she stood behind the wall as she saw them walking together. Inuyasha was tightly grabbing her hand. `Poor girl, having a lousy friend like Inuyasha must be tough.' Kagome thought, but then their lips touched and she covered her mouth to stop a gasp from escaping. `How could she be with him, I mean he is stupid, arrogant and a… a …a … well, he's just a jerk!' The girl, Kagome realized she didn't know her name because she had never seen her before, walked away to another class. Kagome shook her head and walked towards Kaede's classroom and saw the students making a line.

“Hey, what's going on in here?” Kagome asked and her eyes widened when she realized who she had talked to.

Kagome wanted to run away because she was talking to the rudest person in the world, Kagura. She seemed to hate everyone in the school but she had developed a very special place for Kagome, hating her twice as much as everyone else. Being next to Kagura, made Inuyasha's loathe for her look like a playful puppy. Although she never dared to ask why, she always tried to be as farthest as possible and talking to her wasn't part of her plans since she always had a rude answer once she opened her mouth.

“We're going to be cut in half and sold to the black market.” Kagura said complete serious before laughing a bit. .

“Right,” Kagome mumbled and waited in silence.

For what she thought was an eternity, Kagome stood patiently behind the other students waiting for her turn; apparently she was the last in the line since no one else showed up. Finally; Kagome was in front of the line between the door and the classroom and was greeted by Kaede, a sweet old lady who had lost her eye in an accident that was a mystery for everyone in the school. Her dark gray hair was tied up in a low pony tail and her eye was carefully patched with a black patch.

“Hey Miss Kaede,” Kagome smiled at her.

“Hello Kagome, I hope you don't mind I had to do this, is just that I felt that the other years no one listened to me because they were always talking, so I thought maybe I changed seats they wouldn't talk that much.” Kagome nodded comprehensively.

“I think that's okay.” She answered as she tried not to stare at her patch, Kaede looked around and quickly spotted a seat.

“Alright, sit next to Mister Takashi please.” Kagome's eyes widened as she looked at Inuyasha and the empty place next to him, which she immediately thought was her personal hell.

“Miss Kaede?” She asked and her teacher turned to look at her, “Isn't there any way I could trade seats with someone else?”

“I'm sorry dear, they are carefully assigned and it would take an eternity to do it again.” Kaede patted her in her shoulder and Kagome gulped hard before walking next to him.

Without saying a word, Kagome took her seat and silently prayed for him to ignore her for the rest of the year. English class seemed pretty much calmed as he didn't bother to say a word to her or to speak to her. Even though she was grateful for his sudden kindness, Kagome was asking herself why Inuyasha wasn't being his usual self. He now seemed to be very nervous and anxious as she kept track of him from the corner of her eye, Kagome finally saw him relax and he lightly tapped her shoulder.

“Hey, Kagome.” Inuyasha hissed and she let an annoyed sigh out of her lips, wondering what kind of torture was waiting for her.

“What? I'm trying to learn.” Kagome snapped; Inuyasha hesitated before speaking.

“You know, I think is time for us to cut the crap.” Kagome arched her brow and looked at him confused.

“What are you talking about?” he rolled his eyes.

“I mean… it's time for us to settle our differences,” she nodded unsure and thought it was time to get some answers as well.

“Okay… why do you hate me?” She asked a bit too loud, which earned her a hush from someone in front of her and he shook his head.

“It's complicated but let's just leave at I don't,” Kagome stared at him unsatisfied and he grunted annoyed. “I'll answer it later, okay? Now can I ask you something first?”

“Be quick.” He pursed his lips as he thought how to formulate his question and let a big sigh.

“Are you dating Kouga? Like for the last… 3 years?” Kagome laughed which earned her another hush from someone in front of her; she noticed Kagura and rolled her eyes before shaking her head.

“No, Kouga and I had always been friends… well best friends,” Inuyasha half smiled and breathed in calmly, as if someone just had lifted a huge weight off his shoulders.

“So, what did you want me to answer?” He asked relieved, Kagome repeated her question.

“Why do you hate me?” she said and he let out a nervous chuckle.

“I don't hate you…” Kagome was about to ask him another question but he kept on going. “I like you, I really like you… I mean… hate you? It's quite the opposite… I mean, it's kind of funny because I always thought you knew…”

“Know what?!” She asked annoyed and he stood up.

“I loved you!” Inuyasha yelled loudly, making everyone turn to look at them and Kagome turning red out of embarrassment.

“Come again?”
