Sesshoumaru slowly awoke from his contented sleep as the sun peeked over the horizon, painting the forest with a brilliant array of colors. He looked down at his sleeping mate, masculine pride welling up in his chest as he took in her new features. He knew when he marked her as his she would transform into an inu-youkai and he didn't think she could become more beautiful than what she was, but now she was simply breathtaking.

She had silver stripes on her cheeks, arms, hips, and legs, a blue crescent moon graced her forehead, her ears grew to delicate points, her hair grew down to her knees and was streaked with silver, her body became more voluptuous and toned, and she grew a tail that was the same color as her hair. He pulled her closer to his body, stroking her hair softly when he heard her heart pick up speed signaling that she was waking up. She cuddled closer to him, her eyelids lifting slowly, revealing beautiful violet orbs that stared up at him a moment before she gave him a sweet smile that shone with happiness and contentment.

Kagome awoke with warmth surrounding her and a hand stroking through her hair, she was confused at first, wondering who it was, but then as the events that took place the night before flashed before her eyes, causing her to blush and cuddle closer to him, she remembered that it was Sesshoumaru. She slowly opened her eyes to stare at the handsome youkai that had chosen her as his mate, still not completely believing that it happened, and couldn't help the sweet smile that she gave him.

She kissed him and sat up, looking for her clothes, when she saw the amused smirk on his face, she gave him a look of confusion and asked, " what?". Sesshoumaru was wondering when she would notice her transformation and asked nonchalantly, " Do you not feel any different?". She looked at him, feeling even more confused and was about to tell him that she felt fine, when she happened to look down at her hands and saw to her shock, that instead of her normal human nails her fingers were tipped with sharp, delicate looking claws. She looked at him in shock and demanded, " What happened to me?". He sat up, pulling her into his lap and gave off a rumbling purr to calm her down before saying, " When I marked you I mingled our blood together, causing you to transform into an inu-youkai ". Kagome thought about what he had just told her, wondering how much this would change her life and found that instead of being upset she was ecstatic, now that she was a youkai she would be able to help out more with battles, and her mate wouldn't have to watch her die after only a few short years.

Sesshoumaru watched as she went deep into thought, wondering if she was happy with the change or not, he hoped she was. He got his answer when she suddenly gave him a beautiful smile, kissed him hard on the lips, jumped up and ran over to the hotspring to see what else had changed. Bemused, he smiled when she noticed her tail and squealed with joy.Sesshoumaru stood up, pulling his clothes on as he called to her, shaking her out of her awed stupor, " Come, get dressed, my hanyo brother is coming." Kagome was a little worried about how InuYasha would react to everything, but she was to happy to worry over much. She finished dressing, just as InuYasha crashed into the clearing. Sesshoumaru wrapped his arms around her waist, pulling her to his chest as InuYasha looked at them shocked, before drawing Tessaiga and demanded, " Sesshoumaru what the hell did you do to Kagome?"

InuYasha woke up, scanning his surroundings when he noticed Kagome was missing. He sniffed for her scent trail, noticing it was quite old and it went in the direction of the hot spring. " Huh, why the hell would she be at the hot spring for that long?" He thought, before jumping off the tree branch he had slept on and racing through the forest toward her direction, hoping nothing bad had happened to her. He crashed into the clearing around the hot spring, searching franticly for her, but nothing could have prepared him for what he would find.Sesshoumaru had his arms, possessively wrapped around a now inu-youkai Kagome. He sniffed again, making sure his eyes weren't playing tricks on him, but he wasn't wrong it was Kagome sure enough. He was too shocked to say or do anything at first, but then as anger, so hot it made his blood boil rolled through him he withdrew his sword demanding, " Sesshoumaru what the hell did you do to Kagome?".

Kagome tried to go to him, to explain everything, but Sesshoumaru tightened his hold and growled low in his chest, warning her to stay put. Kagome looked at him pleading, " Sesshoumaru please don't hurt him, he's my friend!" He growled again, showing his reluctance to do as she bid, but with one last look at her pleading face, he pinned InuYasha with a glare and simply stated, " I have claimed her as my mate." InuYasha's mouth dropped open in shock before demanding, " What do you mean you claimed her as your mate, you hate humans!" Sesshoumaru nuzzled her mark while saying, " I do not need to explain my reasons to you, but know this, she is mine and I will always care for and protect her."

InuYasha slowly lowered his sword saying, " I don't have to like it, but as long as Kagome is happy I won't stand in her way." He looked at Kagome and gave her a cheeky grin before saying, " You look good as a youkai, but are you still going to help gather the jewel shards?" Kagome blushed, but before she could answer him ,Sesshoumaru cut in saying, " She will be allowed to continue her quest, but I will also be going so as to be sure my mate is not harmed." InuYasha bristled, but didn't argue before walking back toward the campsite.

Kagome breathed a sigh of relief once the confrontation was finally over, but she knew she still had to explain everything to her friends and son, hoping they would understand and support her. She kissed her mate, sending all her love and gratitude through it, before stepping back and telling him, " We should go, I still have to tell my son and my friends what has happened." Sesshoumaru looked down at his happy mate, nodding his head slightly before wrapping an arm around her waist and walking out of the clearing, toward the shard hunters campsite.
