"Come on Inuyasha, can't we just stop in the village ahead and rest? I'm tired, hungry, and my feet
are killing me. It seems we've been walking forever." said Kagome.
"I'm with Kagome." said Shippo.
"Oh alright, fine. Just so you'll stop your complaining. I'm sick of hearing it. It's giving me a headache."
said Inuyasha.
"Sit boy." commanded Kagome and Inuyasha fell to the ground. "You're such a jerk."
"Would you stop with that. Every time you get mad at me, that's one of the first things you say and it's
getting old." said Inuyasha.
Kagome said nothing.
"Perhaps it's best if you don't push the issue any further Inuyasha." said Miroku.
"Who asked you for your opinion!" yelled Inuyasha.
The four of them entered the village and as soon as they did, the villagers began staring at them and
talking in hushed voices to each other.
"What're they staring at? And why are they staring?" asked Shippo.
"It would seem that they are staring at us. Why, I don't know." said Miroku.
"We aren't used to having visitors. No one has visited this village before." said a voice in front of them
and there stood a young, beautiful girl in a black camono with light blue pants and black boots. A sash held
the camono closed and held a sword to her hip. By the look on Miroku's face, Inuyasha, Kagome and Shippo
knew that he was going to try and put some moves on this girl.
"Hello there fair maiden. My name is Miroku and these are my companions Inuyasha, Kagome and
Shippo." said Miroku.
"I'm Kyo. If you need a place to stay for the night, you are more than welcome to stay with me and my
family. We have extra room." said the girl.
"Thank you very much for your hospitality. We really appreciate it." said Kagome.
"It's not a problem. Follow me." said Kyo, turning and leading the way to her house.
As soon as she turned around, Inuyasha hit Miroku over the head and glared at him.
"You leave that girl alone. I'm sure she doesn't need or want you pestering or flirting with her you pervert."
said Inuyasha.
"Alright, I won't lay a hand on her." said Miroku, rubbing the back of his head where Inuyasha had hit him.
They all quickly caught up with Kyo and followed her to a hut at the edge of the village in front of a large
forest. A young girl a little older than Kyo sat outside, as though waiting on Kyo to return.
"I'm back Mio. And I brought visitors. They're staying with us tonight." said Kyo, smiling at the girl.
"Hello, I'm Kyo's older sister Mio." said the girl. She than turned back to Kyo. "You might want to go tell
mom and dad about our visitors. They're in the garden."
Kyo followed her older sister around the side of the house while Inuyasha, Kagome, Shippo and Miroku
waited out front.
"There's something about her." said Inuyasha.
"What do you mean?" asked Kagome.
"I'm not sure. I'm smelling something strange about her. Her blood's like that of Sesshomaru's but that's not
possible. She's human." said Inuyasha.
Just then, Kyo returned.
"It's all settled. Follow me and I'll show you your room." said Kyo. She led them to a back room with four
beds. "I hope you'll be comfortable."
"Yes, this will be fine. Thank you." said Kagome politely.
"Actually, it would be too crowded in here for me. Would it be possible for me to sleep with you in your
room?" asked Miroku.
"No, it wouldn't. I don't make a habit of inviting strange men I've just met to sleep in my room. That's not the way
it works." said Kyo.
Inuyasha, Kagome, and Shippo could barely contain their giggles and Miroku looked as though he had been
slapped in the face.
That night, Kyo sat with her new friends, Inuyasha, Kagome, Miroku and Shippo outside, talking. Kyo now
knew that Inuyasha was a half-demon, that he had a full-demon brother named Sesshomaru that has tried repeatedly
to kill him and take his sword, the Tetsusaiga forged from his own father's fang and given to him after his father died but
that no demon could touch the sword, and Inuyasha and his friends' journey to collect all the Sacred Jewel shards so
he could become a full-fledge demon.
"I have a jewel shard. I found it in the woods one day while I was walking." said Kyo. She pulled a chain with a
tiny jar attached out from her robes and inside the tiny bottle was a single tiny jewel shard.
"You just found it?" asked Miroku.
"Yeah. Someone must have dropped it or something." said Kyo.
Suddenly, a bright wave of light came out of the forest and headed at Kyo. Inuyasha grabbed her and jumped out
out of the way, the attack hitting the trees behind them.
"Are you alright?" asked Miroku.
"Yeah, we're fine." said Inuyasha, landing on the ground safely with Kyo.
Right then, a demon in a black camono with long white hair jumped out of the forest.
"Give me the jewel shard and the girl and I might spare your lives." said the demon.
Inuyasha drew his Tetsusaiga. "You'll have to get by me first."
The demon sent another attack at them. Inuyasha grabbed Kyo and jumped out of the way. They landed safely back
on the ground next to Kagome, Miroku and Shippo.
"Come with me Kyo or I'll kill them like I did your mother." said the demon.
Kyo gasped. Then her eyes turned hard and cold. "So you're the demon that killed my mother."
"Yes. She gave you up to protect you from me so I killed her. I've spent years searching for you and I finally found you"
he said.
"And what did you do to my father! Did you kill him too?" demanded Kyo angrily.
"No. I am your father."
Everyone gasped.
"No, you're lying!" yelled Kyo.
"No. It's true. You have demon blood running through your veins." said the demon.
"Liar!" yelled Kyo, pulling out her sword and attacking.
"No, Kyo!" yelled Inuyasha.
Kyo's father drew his sword and blocked her attack, knocked her sword out of her hands, knocked her to the ground, and
raised his sword, ready to kill her.
"If you won't join me, you'll die." he brought down his sword but Inuyasha leaped forward and blocked the attack.
"Nice try but like I said, you have to go through me first." he said.
"Inuyasha, Kyo's older brother." said Kyo's father.
"What!" exclaimed Inuyasha.
Kyo's father sent another attack at Inuyasha and Kyo. Inuyasha grabbed her, pulled her out of the way and shielded her from the blast. When it cleared, her father was gone.
"Kyo, are you alright?"
Mio and her parents ran outside, fear on their faces.
"No, I'm not. Why didn't you tell me that the demon that killed my mother was my father?" demanded Kyo, clearly enraged
at being lied to most of her life. She was told her father had vanished when her mother died.
"We were gonna tell you when you were old enough and we knew you could handle it." said Mio's mom.
"Well it's a bit late now!" yelled Kyo than she turned and ran into the forest.
"Inuyasha, go after her!" said Kagome.
"Why me?" asked Inuyasha.
"'Cause you understand what it's like to be a demon, and you're her brother." said Kagome.
"Alright, fine." said Inuyasha and he followed Kyo into the forest and followed her scent. He found her by the edge of a river in
the midst of the forest. She turned around as he approached.
"Hey Inuyasha." she said, turning back to the river.
"Hey. You okay?" asked Inuyasha.
"I don't know. How do you react to something like this? How do you react when you find out your demon father killed your
mother and now he's after you?" asked Kyo.
"I wouldn't know. My father died when I was born so I don't even know what he looked like. My mom died when I was little. I
guess you just live with it the best you can." said Inuyasha.
Kyo turned and stared at Inuyasha for a minute than smiled. "What's it like to be a demon?" she asked.
"It's not that bad actually, except humans fear you and just about everyone tries to kill you." said Inuyasha. "Right now, I'm
only a half-demon, as Sesshomaru reminds me every time we meet like he needs to, but when we get all the jewel shards, I'm gonna
be a full-fledge demon."
"Oh that reminds me." said Kyo. She took the chain with jewel shard from her neck, held up Inuyasha's hand and placed it in
his hand, closing it. "I want you to have my jewel shard. You need it more than I do."
"Kyo, I can't take this. It's yours." said Inuyasha.
"I want you to have it Inuyasha. I have no need for it. Come tomorrow, I won't even be here anymore. I have nothing left for me
here now." said Kyo.
Inuyasha opened his hand, stared at the jewel shard for a minute, than took the chain and put it back around Kyo's neck. She
looked at him, confused.
"You hold onto it. You're coming with us." said Inuyasha.
Kyo was so happy, she threw herself on him and threw her arms around his neck, surprising him at first but then he put his arms
around her and hugging her in return.
"Thank you..." she paused before finishing. "...brother."
Inuyasha smiled. It felt good to be called brother by Kyo. She didn't say it coldly like Sesshomaru. "You're welcome...sis." And
it felt good to say that. He never thought it would but it did.Inuyasha, his friends, and Kyo were preparing to leave. Kyo was saying goodbye to the family who raised her. She hugged Mio than she hugged Mio's parents.
"Be careful Kyo. I wouldn't want to have to get violent with your friends for letting something happen to you." said Mio, smiling.
"Don't worry, I'll be fine." said Kyo, smiling in return.
"Stop in and visit whenever you get the chance." said Mio's father.
"I will, I promise." said Kyo. She joined her brother and friends and they turned and began walking out of the village.
"Please take care of yourself Kyo!" yelled Mio's mother.
"I will!" Kyo yelled back, waving.
"Don't worry, we'll protect her!" yelled Miroku.
"I don't need nor want your protection Miroku." said Kyo.
Miroku looked as though Kyo had just stuck a sword through his heart. Inuyasha, Kagome, and Shippo couldn't help but giggle
at him.
"You're such an idiot Miroku." said Shippo.
"Yeah, I get that a lot." said Miroku, thoroughly depressed. "Why can't I ever get a beautiful girl?"
"'Cause you're going about it the wrong way. Stop being a pervert all the time and try being a gentleman instead. You'll get a girl
eventually." said Kyo.
"And if you ever try anything with my sister again, I'll kill you." said Inuyasha, glaring daggers at Miroku.
Just then, Kyo stopped and gazed around her, studying their surroundings.
"What is it Kyo?" asked Kagome.
"I'm sensing some strong demonic vibes nearby. From the smell of it, it's not very friendly." said Kyo.
"Well, we won't worry about it just yet. It's not bothering us at the moment so we'll just keep going." said Inuyasha.
The group continued on their journey, unbeknowst to them that they were now being followed by a figure in a white and red camono
with long silver hair. Two smaller figures stood nearby.
"Master, are you certain you don't want to move on them now? They're guard is down, now would be the best time to attack." said
the smallest figure.
"No, we'll wait. That new girl interests me." said the tall figure. With that, the three figures disappeared behind the trees.
Inuyasha and Kyo lead the way down the road with Kagome, Miroku and Shippo following behind.
"Are you sure you wanted to come Kyo? You didn't have to, I just thought you might like to rather than being alone." said Inuyasha.
"No, I'm glad I came. I feel like I don't know who I am anymore. I mean, I knew a demon killed my mother but I never thought it would
have been my own father. I was told my father had vanished after my mother died. I feel like my life has been one big lie. Since I was a kid
and was told my mother was killed by a demon, I have been training myself so I could avenge my mother. I look for demons to fight so I
could get stronger." said Kyo.
"Is that how you got your jewel shard?" asked Inuyasha.
"Yes. I didn't want Mio's parents to know. They worry about me enough as it is even though I'm not their child. I guess I've always
suspected there was something different about me. I mean, I had a better sense of smell and hearing than any human, I was faster than any human, and I have always been able to heal small wounds. I just never knew how different I was 'til now." said Kyo.
"At least you know the truth now." said Inuyasha.
"Yeah. And I'm glad I met you. I probably wouldn't have coped with this as well. You know what it's like to have demon blood running
through your veins." said Kyo.
"Only because I'm half-demon, at least until we get all jewel shards." said Inuyasha.
"Why do you want to be a full-demon? I like you just the way you are." said Kyo.
"You don't even know me. You just met me yesterday." said Inuyasha.
"You're my brother, that's all I need to know." said Kyo, smiling.
"He's a jerk is what he is." said Kagome behind them.
"Who asked you?" said Inuyasha.
"Sit boy!" commanded Kagome and Inuyasha fell to the ground.
"I wish you would quit with that." said Inuyasha.
"Why? It's fun. And I love having a bit of control over you." said Kagome.
"Yeah, I've noticed." said Inuyasha.
"Glad I'm not you Inuyasha." said Miroku.
"Gee, thanks for your support Miroku." said Inuyasha as Kyo offered him her hand, he took it and she helped him up.
Just then, Inuyasha froze.
"What is it?" asked Kyo.
"Smell that?" asked Inuyasha.
Kyo paused for a moment, smelling the air. "Yeah. It's the same from earlier. Feels like it's all around us."
They all looked around, looking for anything or anyone that could have caused the disturbance.
Suddenly, the ground under them rose up. Inuyasha, Kyo, and Miroku immediately jumped back but Kagome stood frozen as the
ground rose higher.
"Kagome!" yelled Inuyasha.
"Jump Kagome!" yelled Kyo.
"I can't!" yelled Kagome.
"Come on Kagome, you have to." said Shippo from her shoulder.
Just then, Kagome slipped and started falling.
"Kagome!" yelled Inuyasha in fear.
Kyo ran forward, jumped up, grabbed Kagome around the waist, and they landed safely on the ground next to Inuyasha and Miroku.
"Are you alright Kagome?" asked Inuyasha.
"Yeah. Thanks Kyo." said Kagome.
"No problem. Just jump when we tell you to next time." said Kyo.
The rock and fell away to reveal Kyo's father.
"Back again are you father?" said Kyo, drawing her sword, ready for him to attack.
"Yes. And this time, I won't be leaving without you." said her father.
"You're right about one thing. You won't be leaving." said Inuyasha and he drew his Tetsusaiga.
"You think you can defeat me? No mere half-demon can. I am invincible." said Kyo's father.
"You forgot one thing." said Kyo. "Me."
"Let's take him down." said Inuyasha.
"With pleasure." said Kyo. They turned and stood back to back, ready to attack.
Just then, at least twenty demons came out of the forest and surrounded them.
"This could be a problem." said Shippo.
Then, a figure with long silver hair in a white and red camono walked forward out from behind the trees and stopped nearby.
"Sesshomaru. I knew I smelled your stench." said Inuyasha.
"That's your brother?" asked Kyo.
"Yeah, unfortunately. And if he's working with your father, neither one of them is gonna be easy to take down." said Inuyasha.
'Tall, dark, and handsome. I never thought that would be characteristics of Inuyasha's brother from what Inuyasha told me about
him. He doesn't really seem all that bad to me. At least, I'm not really sensing anything evil about him except his hatred toward Inuyasha.'
Kyo thought to herself.
"So, you found your long lost sister. How touching." said Sesshomaru, sounding a bit disgusted.
"What're you doing here Sesshomaru?" demanded Inuyasha.
"My reasons for being here are none of your business nor do they even concern you." said Sesshomaru, his gold eyes narrowing.
Kyo couldn't help but watch Sesshomaru. 'Mysterious too.' She wasn't really sure about him but she couldn't help but feel
curious about him. Then she noticed his golden eyes fall on her sword.
"The Tessegan, sword forged with the powers of both the Tetsusaiga and Tensaiga." he said. Then he noticed her eyes watching
him, not with the cold hatred like his younger brother's nor any fear but with curiosity and something else he wasn't sure of. He had never
seen it before, being the loner he was. "Don't worry, I have no use for your sword." he told her, thinking maybe that's what she was thinking but it wasn't.
"Yeah, it'd probably just reject you just like Tetsusaiga does each time you try to take it from me. You're lucky you have Tensaiga or I'd
have been able to kill you a long time ago." said Inuyasha.
Kyo looked at Inuyasha with confusion.
"The Tensaiga is one of the swords he has. Like the Tetsusaiga, it was made from one of our father's fangs but unlike Tetsusaiga, Tensaiga
can't kill but it does have the power to save a hundred human lives with one stroke while Tetsusaiga can slay a hundred demons in one stroke. To Sesshomaru, the Tensaiga is useless, except for the fact it protects him from Tetsusaiga." said Inuyasha.
"Enough chit-chat. Surrender or parish." said Kyo's father.
"Never." said Kyo.
"Have it your way then." said Kyo's father and the demons attacked.
"Stand back." Inuyasha told the others. "Wind Scar!"
The attack destroyed the demons, leaving only Kyo's father and Sesshomaru standing in the open.
"Let's finish this." said Kyo, standing beside her brother.
Kyo's father smiled than he jumped up and vanished in the blink of an eye. They didn't see him anywhere.
"Where'd he go?" asked Shippo.
"I don't know. Stay alert." said Inuyasha.
Kyo looked around for her father, trying to sense him or smell him but she couldn't. The only other person she saw was Sesshomaru and
he was merely watching so she wasn't worried about him, just her father.
Suddenly, her father jumped up out of the ground and grabbed her, holding her wrist that held her sword. Then he plunged his other hand
into her chest. Kyo screamed out in pain as a bright dark light surrounded both of them.
"What is he doing to her!" exclaimed Kagome.
"I don't know but it can't be good." said Miroku.
Kyo continued to yell in pain and she dropped her sword. Her eyes turned red and the maroon stripes on her cheeks and the fushia
cresent moon on her forehead grew darker. Her claws grew longer and sharper. After a minute, her father pulled his hand out of her chest and she fell to her hands and knees, panting heavily. Her father put some distance between him and him daughter. Inuyasha carefully and cautiously walked closer to his sister. He knew what was happening.
"Kyo?" he said.
"Stay away! Stay away from me!" yelled Kyo. She lifted her head and Inuyasha gasped at her blood-red eyes.
"Kill him Kyo. Kill your brother and prove yourself in the eyes of your father." said Kyo's father.
Kyo took hold of her Tessegan and slowly stood, not taking her eyes off Inuyasha. It was no longer his sister behind those eyes. Her father had turned her into a monster.
"Kyo, don't listen to him. He's just using you and you know it. Snap out of it." said Inuyasha, hoping that talking to her would help break the spell her father had on her.
Kyo lifted her sword and attacked. "Fireball Wave!" she shouted, sending a wave of fire at Inuyasha. He barely raised his sword in time but he was able to block Kyo's attack with his Tetsusaiga. A moment later, Kyo's sword clashed with his.
"Kyo, please, don't do this! Please, snap out of it!" yelled Kagome but it did no good. Kyo continue to clash her Tessegan with Inuyasha's Tetsusaiga, her attacks never ceasing. "We have to do something quick. Inuyasha isn't going to defend himself against his own sister. She'll kill him if we don't stop her soon." said Kagome.
"I know but unfortunately there's nothing we can do. Inuyasha must do this on his own." said Miroku.
Kagome, Miroku, and Shippo found themselves feeling helpless and they could only watch in horror. They could do nothing to help Inuyasha as his battle with Kyo dragged on.
Suddenly, Kyo sent Inuyasha flying. He crashed into a tree and he fell to the ground.
"Fireball Wave!" she shouted, hitting the trees around him and they fell down on top of him. There was nothing but smoke and they couldn't see Inuyasha anymore.
"INUYASHA!" cried Kagome, trying to run toward him but Miroku grabbed her arm and held her back.
"Kagome, no!" he said.
"Let me go! I have to help him! INUYASHA!" screamed Kagome but she got no answer. "Inuyasha, answer me!"
The smoke finally cleared away. Inuyasha lay on his back on the ground, unconscious and motionless. Kagome, Miroku, and Shippo stood motionless, frozen in shock. Kyo dropped her sword, her eyes back to their golden-hazel color and her stripes and cresent moon back to their normal color, and walked over to where Inuyasha lay and knelt down next to him. Sesshomaru took this as an oppurtunity and left, not wanting to see if his younger brother lived or died nor did he care if he did or not.
"Inuyasha..." she whispered. "Inuyasha, answer me."
Tears formed in Kagome's eyes and were falling down her cheeks onto the ground. She, Miroku, and Shippo walked over to Kyo and Inuyasha. Kagome knelt on the other side of Inuyasha, lifting him up and laying his head on her shoulder.
"Come with me Kyo." said her father.
Kyo stood up. "Never." She grabbed her sword and attacked. "Fireball Wave!"
The attack hit her father before he had a chance to block and he vanished. She put her sword away. She turned and started walking away,
prepared to be on her own from now on.
"Kyo, where are you going?" asked Miroku.
"I'm too dangerous for me to be around anyone. It's best if I go off on my own." said Kyo.
"Kyo, wait."
Kyo stopped and turned around. Inuyasha was conscious and sitting up on his own. He slowly stood up and walked over to her.
"Stay with us." he said.
"You're gonna let me stay even though I just tried to kill you?" said Kyo.
"It wasn't your fault. Your father tried to turn you against us." said Kagome.
"Please, stay with us Kyo." said Inuyasha.
Kyo could only smile. And with that, Inuyasha, Kyo, Kagome, Miroku, and Shippo continued on their journey. Little did they know that
Sesshomaru was watching from behind the trees.
'That girl is powerful. But she become stronger. She still inexperienced. If I could train her...' he stopped there. He decided to follow them and when the time was right, take her. He followed at a safe distance so neither she or Inuyasha could smell or sense him.
