Hitchin' a Ride: Chapter Eight

The two guys ran down the hall until they saw Sango helping Kagome off of the tile floor.

 

“Uh… what happened?” Miroku asked.

 

“These two guys were running and they ran into us… one of them grabbed my butt and I screamed,” Kagome informed them.

 

Inuyasha breathed a sigh of relief. He had thought that it was Naraku. They had to put him away before he did anything worse… but what was worse than murder, armed robbery, and rape? Getting Kagome and killing her. That was worse. At least it was to Inuyasha.

 

“And what about you, Inuyasha?”

 

“Huh? What?” Inuyasha had clearly not been paying attention to a thing Miroku was saying.

 

“What's your vote?”

 

“On what?”

 

“Well, do you think we should stay here with Sota until he gets out, or go get Naraku and keep Sota out of the mess? Sango and I vote getting Naraku without Sota. Kagome says stay here.”

 

Kagome looked at him with pleading eyes. If they left him, he'd have nowhere to go, if they took him he could die. Either way he was fucked.

 

“I'm gonna go with Sango and Miroku on this one.”

 

“Holy fuck, Inuyasha, I can't leave my brother here! What if Naraku comes here to get him? What the fuck then?”

 

“Well if he isn't here then that won't happen, now will it, Kagome?” Inuyasha asked in a cocky tone.

 

“Well no but… where would he be?”

 

“He'll be in a safe house, where, by the way, you're supposed to be.”

 

“I already told you I am not going to a fuckin' safe house!”

 

“You aren't! Your brother is. Only `till we get Naraku and Jay.”

 

“Mm…” Kagome started to think. “They won't be able to get in there will they? I don't—”

 

“Kagome, do you trust me?” Inuyasha asked.

 

Sango and Miroku stood there watching them. Kagome just stood there. She did trust him.

 

“Yeah, I do…”

 

“Then you know your brother is safe. I promise nothing will ever happen to him.”

 

“Oh this is getting really emotional,” Sango said. “I think we should go now.” She grabbed Miroku and started to walk away when Kagome stopped her.

 

“No, don't go. We all will… after Inuyasha calls his people to pick my brother up after his is released by the doctor,” Kagome ordered in an assertive way.

 

“Okay!” Sango said. “This is gonna kick some serious ass!”

 

Inuyasha got out his cell phone, pressed two buttons, then started talking to some man named Myoga. “You have to have some guys pick him up after his release. Yeah, I know. We'll do it. Okay.” Inuyasha ended the call.

 

“He'll have our two top transporting agents come get him, but you have to sign some stuff saying that you will release your brother to them.”

 

“Well, I can do that.” The group of four walked back to the emergency wing of the hospital. Kagome, with Inuyasha, walked into the back part. “I need to talk to the doctor seeing Sota Higurashi, please.”

 

The receptionist smiled. “Sure, just a moment.” She picked up the phone and pressed a button. “Dr. Morrow, please come to the reception desk,” she said and it was transmitted through the speakers.

 

A few moments later a man with an off-white smock came in with a smile on his face. When he saw Kagome it quickly changed to almost a frown. “What do you need?”

 

“First I wanna say sorry for what I did earlier; I was really upset about my brother. Second I wanna ask if we can talk to you in private.”

 

The doctor's facial expression changed a little bit, but not quite to a smile. “Sure. My office is this way.” The doctor led them to his office and shut the door. “What is it that you need?”

 

Kagome looked at Inuyasha. “I need to know if I could leave, and have someone else pick my brother up when he gets out. But I don't want just anyone to pick him. It has to be…” Kagome trailed off. She just realized that she didn't know the names of the men that were going to pick her brother up.

 

“Oh, uh, Kanaye Rice and Ryozo Hauler,” Inuyasha said.

 

“Well, anyone can pick him up with the right forms of ID,” the doctor said.

 

“But,” Kagome said, “I don't want anyone other than these two men to pick my brother up.”

 

“You can do that. Just put it in writing.” The doctor handed her a piece of paper. “Just put their names, what they are supposed to do, and sign.”

 

“Okay.” Kagome wrote down all the stuff that she needed to and handed it to the doctor. “Oh, and make sure they show you that ID that they need.”

 

“Will do. Now if that's all then I'll get back to my patients.”

 

They walked back into the waiting room. “Ready?” Sango asked.

 

Kagome sighed. “As ready as I'll ever be.”

 

The group went out to Inuyasha's car. Sango pulled Kagome off to the side as the guys got in the car. “Hey what was all that back in the hospital about?”

 

“What do you mean?” Kagome asked. She yawned. She was still pretty tired. Sleeping in a car wasn't any fun.

 

“Inuyasha and you… you guys were acting… weird. All that `do you trust me?' bit sounded like a cheesy love movie line.”

 

“Nothing,” Kagome said. “It was nothing.”

 

Sango looked at her skeptically. “Okay. Whatever you say.”

 

They climbed into the car and Inuyasha took off. Kagome soon fell asleep in the passenger seat. As she lay there, asleep, she started to dream.

 

-Kagome's dream-

 

She sat on a chair, tied to it with thick rope. Sota was beside her and Inuyasha was on the ground, unconscious. Her mother was hanging upside down with a bullet hole in her head. Sota was bleeding from the side of his head and he was starting to nod off. She tried to tell him not to fall asleep but she realized she was gagged as well. Naraku came in with a gun. “Die bitch!” And he shot her in the head.

 

-End dream-

 

She instantly woke up and yelled, “NARAKU!” at the top of her lungs. That was when she realized it was a dream and that she had woke Sango and Miroku up. It was almost midnight.

 

“Where?” Sango asked in a startled voice.

 

“She had a bad dream,” Inuyasha said. “It's okay, you can go back to sleep now.”

 

In less than five minutes Sango and Miroku were back into their deep slumbers again.

 

“You wanna talk about it?” Inuyasha asked. He looked over at her briefly, then back to the road.

 

“It was… weird. I don't really remember anything other than getting shot in the head… and you on the floor. That's it.”

 

“Was I dead?” he inquired.

 

“I don't think so…” She looked at Inuyasha. Then she saw a motel sign along side the road. “Why don't we stop and get some real sleep. We all need it and I need a shower!”

“That's a really good idea.” He pulled into the parking lot. “I'll be right back.”

 

He left into the building and Kagome woke up Sango and Miroku. “Hey,” she said, “we're stayin' at a motel tonight.”

 

Sango woke instantly, waking Miroku. “Really? Oh, how I need a shower!”

 

Inuyasha came back out. “Bad news, and good.”

 

“Save the best for last,” Miroku said.

 

“The bad news is that there is only one bed in each room that they have. The good news is they have two rooms.”

 

“I call dibs on Sango— I mean bed!” Miroku said.

 

“Me too!” Kagome said.

 

“So do we divide girls and boys or what?” Sango asked.

 

“I'm very willing to share a be— I mean room with Sango,” Miroku offered.

 

“You wanna do it like that?” Kagome looked at Inuyasha.

 

“I don't have any problems with it.”

 

“Well then that's how we'll do it!” Miroku said. “Come my lovely Sango, the be— I mean room awaits you.”

Hey, hey, hey! That was longer than most chapters so I hope you like it. And I want to make it clear that is rated X so there will be lemons (most likely in the next chapter)!
