Chapter 2

Heavy breathing filled the room. Clothes thrown carelessly in a trail to the large bed in the luxurious room. On one end of the room was an open door leading to the bathroom, the lights were still on and bleed into the otherwise dark room.

One the bed lay a man, middle ages, on his back with his partner straddling his hips. His bed partners face was cast in shadows but it was undeniable that it too was a man. His body was moving up and down in a steady rhythm. His hips rolling slightly as the build up inside him began to take over and he leaned his head back in open gasps.

The man under him grabbed his hips as he began to thrust deeply and he closed his eyes tightly while he cum inside his partner. His body jerked a few times before settling down and drowsiness overcame him.

“I swear you are one amazing lay.” he said before opening his eyes.

What greeted him was the mouth of a gun.

BANG

It took only one shoot and he was dead. Blood flowing from the open hole in his head.

It was an early morning when the birds had just begun to chipper outside. The cold of the night still lingered as InuYasha could be found in the dojo. He sat respectfully in the middle of the room. His eyes closed as he tried to clean his mind.

But try as he may, every time he thought he had succeeded new thoughts of Sesshoumaru came to him. Each one of the handsome man behind the bar. Either shaking a new drink, his back turned or that charming but reserved smile he always gave InuYasha.

With a sigh the youngster gave up. He opened his eyes and looked right in front of him. It was hopeless.

The young heir stood up and walked out and back to his room, through the traditional Japanese house he meet a few of the family as they started their days early with cleaning and preparing the first meal of the day.

InuYasha walked to the kitchen and sat down at the single table. Ibiki stood there at the counter, chopping something, in an apron.

InuYasha couldn't help but smile at the sight. Not that it was the first time he had seen someone of the family in the kitchen, much less an apron but the thing was...

Ibiki turned around with a smile on his face when he saw it was InuYasha. “Good morning, son. I take it you have a lot on your mind?” he poured some hot chocolate and sat it in front of InuYasha.

THE THING WAS.... the apron suited Ibiki in all aspects. InuYasha snickered when he raised the high cup to his lips and burned his tongue when he sipped it. It wasn't just simply looking good in the apron. The apron look like it had been made just for Ibiki. It had earned him the nickname mama-Ibiki from the rest of the family long ago.

“Not really.” InuYasha said while waving at his mouth.

Ibiki continued to smile as he turned back to the cooking. “You always have something on your mind when you are up earlier than the rest of the household.” he pulled forth some tomatoes. “Care to share it with me to get it of your shoulders.”

“Thanks but.. no thanks.” InuYasha said as he risked another sip.

“Something you can't even tell me?”

InuYasha looked down at the hot drink. “Maybe someday I will tell you.”

Not much more was said on the subject after that. Before Ibiki had finished everything he sent InuYasha to dress for school. Just 20 minutes later everyone was gathered for breakfast. The family always ate together the first meal of the day, tradition and it made everything feel better to know the family was there.

But this morning the family was talking about the future wife of their 'son'. The topic made InuYasha feel bad but he couldn't say anything against it since his father looked really happy this morning. And it was amusing in some twisted way to listen to their fantasies of his future wife when he silently compared it to the man of his dreams.

He left home with many good byes from the family and went to school where he was avoided like he expected. Very few talked to him and the rest ignored him. When he approached one group they would either walk away.

His days at school was less than fun these days and he always ended up skipping some class to be alone and think about whatever was on his mind on the school roof. Not that his results were bad but they weren't the best like he wanted or knew they could be. He just didn't want to sit among others that hated him.

The day ended uneventfully and the bullies didn't come near him. He tried to look at the girls a little when school ended and they went home but he found little interest in them. It wasn't that they weren't cute or anything, just that they didn't appeal to him.

When he came home the house was strangely quiet. When he had taken of his shoes and walked through the strange atmosphere he stopped the closest and asked.

“What's wrong?”

“A member of another family was killed last night.”

InuYasha nodded before continuing walking. He opened the door where he knew his father were and he looked at the serious expression on his face. Another leader which he didn't recognize with a few bodyguards were with him.

“Father?” he asked carefully and hoping he would tell him more.

Taisho looked up at his son and his eyes snapped from anger to worry.

“Don't worry InuYasha. Everything will be ok. Just be careful when you go outside.”

“Yes, father.” InuYasha said before closing the door.

InuYasha then spent another three hours in the house. Doing his homework, talking to the family, taking a little snack and lastly he started to play card with some of the generation over him. When the clock struck 7 he forfeited his turn and left the house. One of the other challengers peeked at InuYasha's cards.

“Royal Straight Flush.” he whispered before slapping the cards down in the middle. All five men groaned in defeat.

“We've raised a monster.”

Taisho walked past them and had to take a step back to the open door. “Lost to InuYasha again?”

“He could make a living just on cards. Your son is a born hustler.” one of them said, he had been with the family ever since Taisho took over as nidaime and been a former classmate to Taisho.

“Don't forget to put everything down on the debt list,” Taisho said. “and that includes your cloths before you put them back on.” he walked away with a laughter leaving behind five defeated and gloomy adult men.

“Welcome.” the clerk greeted InuYasha.

“Hi. Long time since last time.” InuYasha said as he stopped in front of the short girl, she was past her twenties but was shorter than him.

“Yes,” she said with a smile. “I caught a cold and couldn't work for a few days.”

“It's good to see you are better. Take care.” he said before walking over to the bar with confident steps.

He sat down on one of the high bar chairs and leaned his forearms on the bar. “Hello.” he said loud enough for the bartender to turn around.

Sesshoumaru gave him a professional smile in return. “Hello, you came tonight too.”

“Of course.”

“You are almost a regular costumer even if you are only served non-alcoholic drinks and snacks.”

“That's the plan.” InuYasha said confidently. “I plan on being a regular before I'm 18.”

“You're still just a brat.” Sesshoumaru said with a hint of teasing in his voice. “You can't even legally drink yet and still plan on becoming a regular. You are a strange kid.”

“I can point out to you.” InuYasha defended himself with a pointing finger. “That when I turn 18 this year I can legally drink my head off and that's before I'm 20 and can legally buy from the stores.”

“And I will have to watch you get kidnapped by some stranger in your delusive state.”

“That won't happen.”

Sesshoumaru stopped what he was doing and looked strangely at InuYasha who looked at him with complete trust in his eyes.

“You will be there to make sure nothing happens to me.”

For a moment Sesshoumaru was dumbfounded by the trust in the brat before his lips twisted in a warm snicker.

“I guess that's right. I will make sure nothing happens to our precious regular costumer.”

“Precious costumer?” InuYasha asked.

“Of course. Who do you think this place depends on to keep going?” Sesshoumaru finished with a self-satisfied look.

InuYasha stared at him before he began to laugh. His head lowered as he let out a clear mirth filled laughter. He made some of the other early costumers look at him and the workers smiled at the heartwarming scene.

“What will you have today?” asked Sesshoumaru when InuYasha's laughter lessened.

“Anything.” he waved his hand while trying to control his voice.

Sesshoumaru gave him a stern look. “Never say anything in a bar. You will never know what the bartender gives you unless you can trust him or her.”

InuYasha took a breath before raising his head to face the bartender once more. “But I trust you.” he said dead seriously.

Sesshoumaru nodded once. “In that case.”

He took down two bottles from the wall behind him, his reflection in the mirror behind it. He took forth one cocktail glass. He took an ice-crusher and put some ice cubes inside. He pushed a few times, breaking them into tiny pieces. He then put them in the shaker, he took the long green bottle and measured up in a tiny glass before dumping it in the shaker. He then took the white bottle and poured a little into the shaker before spraying a little sprite in it. He closed it and shook it with the touch of a professional and finally poured the bright green liquid into the glass and decorated with a cherry on a toothpick. He put it on the bar in front of InuYasha who looked at it with admiring eyes.

“Non-alcoholic.” said Sesshoumaru and caught the dirty look he was given. “As long as I'm here and you are not of age I will not serve you a single drop of alcohol, so give up.”

InuYasha grumble something as he raised the glass to his lips. The fruity taste touched his tongue and he had to smile. No matter what he was given it always tasted good.

A group of new arrived costumers came to the bar and made their orders to Sesshoumaru.

While he worked he was aware that InuYasha watched his every movement as he interacted with the other costumers. Drink after drink he served and took another, one of the already tipsy costumers asked him to entertain them a little but the others said he didn't have to. But when the tipsy costumer said it was her birthday Sesshoumaru gave them one little surprise. When he grabbed one bottle he let it spin in his hand before adding extra distance between the shaker and bottle. With more flashy movement he finished the drink and he was given cheers by the costumers and the walked away in search of a table.

“I didn't know you could do that!”

Sesshoumaru looked over at InuYasha who still sat where he had been left.

“It's something that comes with the habits. After years of mixing drinks you learn one trick and another.” he said flat out.

“Uhuh.” InuYasha said before lifting his glass and noticed it was empty.

Sesshoumaru saw it too and took the glass from the teen. “Go home now. The streets aren't safe to walk around late.”

InuYasha's eyes lit up. “Are you worried for me?” he asked in a teasing voice.

The bartender leaned over the bar with one hand resting against the surface. “I am,” InuYasha felt a tiny bit of hope in his heart. “Because otherwise I won't haven anyone to entertain me every night.” he finished with a smug grin and retreated.

InuYasha sighed, it was to be expected. He really couldn't hope for a miracle.

“I'm going.” InuYasha said as he put on his jacket. “The last I want is another “mother” to worry about me.” he ran out with a fast 'Bye' to the other workers as he escaped the wrath of Sesshoumaru.

One of the waiters walked over to Sesshoumaru who was fuming over having been called 'mother'.

“He got you good there.” he laughed.

Sesshoumaru shook his head. “I don't understand why he comes here every night. A brat his age should have better things to do than hang around a bar and drink non-alcoholic.”

“Maybe he have a crush on you?”

Sesshoumaru gave him a dirty look that dared him to say more.

The waiter put up his hands. “What I'm saying is that he's a good kid. Be nice to him.” he pated Sesshoumaru's shoulder with his tray and walked away, leaving Sesshoumaru alone behind the bar to work.

He turned in his bed so he laid on his side. One arm was tucked under his head with the cover pulled up to his shoulders, shielding him from the darkness.

His heart felt strangely empty and the bitterness of being alone ate away of his inside. His eyes stayed open and stared at the wall on the other side. It felt horrible and he longed for someone to hold him, to comfort him. Just to be there for him and let him know he wasn't alone, like he felt.

He desperately didn't want to be alone. Before his eyes he could see the silhouette of his loved one take form, laying beside him in his bed with a gentle smile on his face. He could see the eyes sparkling at him in the night as a playful smile was given to him.

Slowly he removed his arm from under his head and with his other one wrapped them around himself, pretending that it wasn't his arms holding him but Sesshoumaru's. He pretended that the man rested his head against his pillow while he held him as he went to sleep.

It was both sweet and bitter. He could feel how Sesshoumaru was holding him, protecting and loving him. But at the same time he knew it was only an illusion. When he wakes up he would once again be all alone.

To Be Continued.
