He didn't know what to do. He was completely at a loss. He was confused and nervous and oh so hopelessly lost. Not only were there were their conflicting emotions, there were conflicting actions! He didn't know what to do. What should he say? Should he do anything?

What could he do?

He had never been in this situation before. He had never had to deal with this before. He was so confused. And if he did anything, would be get in trouble? A thought of a word made him shudder. If it was taken in one direction, he would end up hurting her. But if it was taken in another direction, she might hurt him.

Not that it hurt, of course. He scoffed. Nothing that pitiful could hurt him. He swelled his chest. But then remembered why he was confused. Nervous. And oh so hopelessly lost.

He wanted to throw something. Or kill something. Just to make it go away. Just to make it stop. He didn't know what to do.

He never knew what to do. But it always ended up being his fault.

Guilt settled in.

He didn't know what to do and he caused it. Now he felt guilty along with all the other emotions that bombarded his mind. A growl vibrated in his throat. He hated feeling guilty.

But it always happened. He always started it. And he always felt guilty.

Damn him. Damn her. Damn this guilt feeling. Damn all feelings. Damn not knowing what to do. Damn him. Damn him. Damn him.

He never did know what to do when Kagome cries.

InuYasha never could make it stop.

Slowly. Hesitantly. He reached out one clawed hand. And brushed away her tears. Gently. Her big brown eyes opened and locked with his amber ones. He quickly withdrew his hand.

Her smaller ones darted forward and clasped his.

"Thanks, InuYasha."

A smile touched her face. It reached her eyes.

He smiled softly too. He liked to see her smile. This time he knew what to do.
