So how does it feel, Inuyasha?"

He paused for a moment as his clawed fingers brushed over his chest. "It feels good."

"I'm so glad," Kagome replied. She leaned over and embraced him. She still couldn't believe she had done it. She had grown accustomed to the power she had held over him...but it wouldn't do to continue on that way. If they were going to really be together, she needed to show him the same trust he had always given her.

When she released him and pulled her face back from the crook of his neck, he caught her in a swift kiss. Blushing, she reached down and held up the beads she had removed from him moments before. "What should we do with these? I'd hate to just throw them away."

"I ain't wearin' them again if that's what you're after!'

"No! No, I just meant that they have been an important part of our relationship for so long. I kind of feel a bit sad about getting rid of them now."

"I'm sorry to interrupt," Miroku stated apologetically as he and Sango came into the clearing. "We couldn't help but overhear, and we wanted to offer our congratulations."

"Thanks guys." Kagome was beaming. This was a big moment for Inuyasha and her.

"And if I may add, I think it would be such a waste of good magatama to dispose of them rashly."

"Do you have any ideas, Miroku?" Sango asked.

"I might." Inuyasha smirked devilishly as his ears swiveled to the right. The others strained their ears and soon could hear what the hanyou had.

“Tra la la la, “ Rin sang as she skipped through the forest collecting flowers for a crown of blossoms she was weaving. “Sesshoumaru-sama, where are we going?”

“Silly girl, stop pesturing m'lord!” The little green imp trailed after her, fearing that the girls' incessant singing was giving his Lord a headache. “Stop wandering off, Rin! RIN!”

The young girl merrily frolicked further and further away from her group in her attempt to find the perfect sakura blossoms. She wanted a crown of them for as long as she could remember so that she may be, at least in her own mind, Lord Sesshoumaru's Lady. Her crown would match the embroidery of his haori and they could travel the lands together forever…

“I've got an idea.” Kagome smirked as she began to walk towards the sound of the girls' humming. Inuyasha was surprised at her cunning, for she was always so innocent and pure, but he had to admit this side of her turned him on. He decided to follow her at a distance just to see how she would handle things, Sango and Miroku close behind.

“Tra la la la…huh?” There was rustling in the bushes up ahead and Rin came to a hault. “Who's there?” She asked inquisitively. Rin did not fear much in the great forests of Japan for she knew her Lord would never let any harm come to her.

“It's me, Rin. Kagome.” Through the brush the older girl in the strange white and green garb emerged, gentle smile upon her face.

“Oh hi!” Rin rushed over to meet Kagome as the rest of the gang came out to greet her as well. “What are you all doing here?”

“We are just heading back to Kaede's village. What are you doing out here by yourself, Rin?”

“I'm gathering sakura blossoms to make a crown!”

“Oh, how sweet! Say Rin, it just so happens I have something here for you.” The kotodama no nenju were hidden behind Kagome's back in an effort to peek Rin's interest.

“Really? I've never been given a present before, Lady Kagome!” Rin's eyes grew wide, full of excitement and anticipation.

Got her. “Well, Rin, this is a very important gift. Know why?” Kagome drew the beads out in front and held them in between herself and Rin. She watched as Rin gasped in awe at the sight of them, tears of happiness at the edges of her young eyes. She shook her head. “These are special to me, Rin. Remember seeing Inuyasha with them on?” Rin nodded. “That's because I gave them to him because he is the person I care about the most. Even more than myself. Understand?”

Rin nodded again, but then her expression changed. Her eyebrows drew down into a furrow and she appeared in deep thought. “But Lady Kagome, then why did you take them back from Inuyasha?”

Damn. She's smart for her age! “Eh? Because...”

“Because now that that bastard Naraku is gone we can make our relationship… more official. Those beads are more of like a promise that one day you'll be together.” Inuyasha couldn't let Kagome drown now, this was going so perfectly. Soon his asshole brother would get what was coming to him.

“Ohhh, I understand.” Kagome turned back to Rin, but not before exchanging glances with Inuyasha.
That was close. She held out the beads of subjugation to the unsuspecting child, praying she took the bait. “Thank you very much Lady Kagome!” Rin's smile stretched from ear to ear.

“You're welcome! Use them wisely.” Kagome wagged a finger at Rin lightheartedly and the girl nodded one last time and bid them farewell as she began to race back through the forest. Kagome turned back to the rest of the group and saw that Inuyasha was smirking slyly and Miroku and Sango appeared to be in shock.

“I did not think you were capable of such trickery, Kagome.” The monk was exchanging looks with the demon slayer, who was at a loss for words and merely nodded in agreement.

“What? It's not like Sesshoumaru doesn't deserve it. After everything he's done and how many times he's tried kill both Inuyasha AND me, a little subjugation from an eight-year old girl might give him some perspective.”

Inuyasha couldn't hold it in any longer. “Let's go, guys.”

“And where are we going now, Inuyasha?” Sango wondered, halfheartedly.

“We're followin' Rin of course! I HAVE to see that ol' bastard `sit' at least one time!” He turned back to Kagome but she was already gone. She was making her way towards the path Rin had run in when she turned back to look at him.

“What? Are you coming or not?”
----------------------------------------------------------- ----------------------------------
“Sesshoumaru-sama! Look, look what I have for you!” Rin raced through the clearing and came upon her Lord and Jaken waiting for her, Jaken looking flustered and out of breath and Sesshoumaru not amused.

“My Lord, I have made you something special.”

Though he did not let it reach his face, Sesshoumaru felt uneasy and slightly resentful.
Why hadn't he left her in a human village to give flowers to boys her own age? He kept his face stern and said nothing in response, figuring that ignoring the problem would make it go away.

“Look, m'Lord! I made it especially for you! Won't you wear it for me?”

Her intentions were nothing other than genuine. She loved him. He knew this. He was a god in her eyes. But what was different about her that made him succumb to her every childish wimb? He sighed heavily. She wasn't going to stop her pestering until she got what she wanted.

Sesshoumaru lowered himself down on one knee in front of her and stared into her eyes. She smiled brightly as he bowed his head in anticipation of a crown of flowers. “These are for you, my LORD. Because I…because I…I care about you.”

He looked up in surprise and confusion to find Rin blushing furiously. But before he knew what happened he felt an enormous weight fall around his neck.
NO. He looked down and found the kotodama no nenju around his neck, the very same his half brother wore…or used to.

“Rin, what is this?”

“These are promise beads. You give them to someone you care about and…”

“No, Rin. These are beads of subjugation. What have you done?”

From behind the bushes Sesshoumaru's demon ears picked up the sound of…laughter.
That bastard! And sure enough, from behind a tree out popped Inuyasha and Kagome, the former practically in tears from laughing so hard.

“HA! Look who's been tamed, now?”

Sesshoumaru became lost in a sea of red. He began to charge Inuyasha, who was looking surprisingly nonchalant for the blow he was about to receive from Tokijin. But no sooner had Sesshoumaru began to allow his annoying half brother get to him, he realized why Inuyasha was smirking, but it was too late.

From behind him he heard Rin gasp, and then it came. “No don't, Lord Sesshoumaru! NO! My LORD!”

And with that Sesshoumaru, for the first time in his life, ate dirt.
