Hybrid Chapter 1

Long raven hair blew softly in the wind as a woman looked upon a ten story building. Blue eyes carefully looked over the entrances and exits, windows and doors. A hand signal with her left hand sent the two figures behind her to the left side of the building. Another hand signal with her right hand sent two figures to the right of the building.

“Ninth floor.” The male next to her said softly. With a nod of her head she stepped forward, bent her knees and leapt up onto the second floor balcony, the male right behind her. They repeated these steps until they landed soundlessly on the ninth floor balcony.

The raven haired woman crouched beside the balcony door. Her eyes scanned the darkened room looking for any movement.

“How many?” She asked barely above a whisper. The male next to her took a deep inhale before answering.

“Just the two.” She nodded and carefully slid the balcony door open. The two stepped inside, closing the door behind them. The male stayed close to the door while the woman walked further into the room.

A quick scan told her she was in the bedroom of the condo. She made her way to the door and into the hallway. She slowly stepped into the living and spotted her opponents standing by a window.

“They sent you this time did they?” A female said to the raven haired woman. Said woman remained silent as she assessed the situation. There was only two exits; the window and the front door.

The raven haired woman swiftly pulled out two long blades and went into her battle stance. She wasn’t one to waste words nor play mind games. She had one objective and one objective only- kill demons.

The male demon standing next to the female demon accepted her silent challenge and moved to attack her. She waited until he was a couple feet from her before gracefully spinning and slicing a blade upwards through his torso and neck, instantly killing him.

The female demon made an enraged sound and ran at her. The demon leaped and kick her in the chest causing her to fly backwards. She executed a flip mid-air and caught her balance before running back at the demon. She swung one of her blades towards the demon, who dodged seconds before the blade made contact with her neck. The demon went to kick her again, but the dark haired woman jumped over the demon, bringing a blade down and slicing through its shoulder, severing her arm.

The demon screamed in pain and clutched at the wound. The woman kicked the back of the demons knees causing her to bow. The woman put a blade to the demons neck and pressed it firmly against its skin.

“Why are you here?” The raven haired woman asked in a business tone. The demon glared at her, but answered anyway.

“Looking for someone.”

“Who?” The woman pushed the blade further against the demons neck.

“Someone the boss wants.” The demon answered.

“Who is this person?” The demon laughed evilly.

“I’ll never tell you half-breed!” The demon yelled at her. The woman sighed lightly, then quickly cut through the demons neck. The corpse fell to the ground as the woman looked around the living room. Finding nothing she headed back to the bedroom.

“Anything?” Her partner asked as they walked out onto the balcony.

“She said their boss is looking for someone.” She answered as she signaled to the others that were with them.

“That’s it?” He asked her curiously. She looked into his unnaturally purple eyes and nodded.

“The bitch wouldn’t say anything else so she was disposed.” Her partner chuckled as they made their way down to the ground, jumping from balcony to balcony.

“You need more patience Kagome. I’m sure she would’ve talked eventually.” He said as they made their way back to the black truck they had rode in together. The rest of their team had already left in a separate vehicle.

“I ran out of patience two hundred years ago.” Was her simple reply. As far as her logic was concerned, you either talked when asked to or you didn’t talk at all. It was up to them really.

Neither talked the rest of the way back to their base. The way she preferred it. ~x~

Sweat coated Kagome’s skin as she swiftly moved, blocking her opponents swings. The training room was filled with the sound of metal hitting metal as the two opponents went at each other.

For the better part of two hours Kagome had been training non-stop with her computerized opponent. She two no breaks and held nothing back. This was her routine everyday- intense training in the morning and at night. She normally trained for four hours total each time, so she wasn’t too happy when she heard the door to the room opening.

“This one’s taken.” She yelled out as she dodged another hit. She was about to swing her blade when her opponent suddenly shut down.

“What the fuck?!” She yelled to the man pressing buttons at the computer built into the wall. She stomped over to him and pushed his hands off the touch screen. “What the hell do you think you’re doing?”

The man looked down at her with narrowed eyes. “Boss wants to see you. Now.”

“Tell him I’m training.” She said attempting to reactivate her sparring partner. The man pushed her hands away and growled at her.

“He wants to see you NOW.” He yelled at her, his face a couple inches from hers.

Before he could blink he was backed against the wall with her blade against his neck. She had an emotionless look on her face, but her eyes said it all. She was pissed.

“Watch who the fuck you’re talking to Kouga. You may hold rank over me, but let’s not forget who can kick whose ass.” She said in a deadly tone that made him want to cower in a corner.

She let go of him and walked off before he could respond. She silently fumed to herself as she headed to the showers. ‘One hundred and fifty years here and I still have to fight for respect!’ She snatched a face towel and dry towel from a shelf and hung them on the rack beside the shower. She turned the water as hot as she could stand it and got in letting the water soothe her tense muscles.

She was slightly angry at herself for losing her cool. Its not like she wasn’t used to their treatment of her. They saw her as less because she wasn’t a full vampire, she was merely half. The fact that part of her was still human seemed to rub them the wrong way.

‘That and the fact that I could easily mop the floor with all of them.’ She smirked to herself as she washed the sweat from her body. Even though she was only half vampire, she was the stronger than the full bloods. No one knows how or why, and it caused quite an uproar when she was found three hundred years ago.

Kagome shook the thoughts from her head. She didn’t like to think that far back. To remember that far back…

She rinsed and turned the shower off. She quickly dried and wrapped the towel around her. In her haste, she neglected to stop in her room and grab a change of clothes. Luckily for her, her room was right down the hall.

She went into her room and changed into a simple pair of blue jeans and a black short sleeved top. She ran her fingers through her damp hair as she made her way down the hall to the elevator. The boss’s office was on the top floor of the seven story building.

There were no windows in the entire building, except her room. The full bloods couldn’t handle excessive light like she could. ‘One of the perks of being half.’ She once again smirked to herself.

The elevator doors opened on the top floor and she walked down the hall towards her boss’s office. She knocked on his door twice and walked in. She never waited for him to respond and he never said anything about it.

“You needed to see me?” She asked getting to the point.

A man with red eyes and dark hair looked at her sternly before responding. “I thought I asked you not to start fights with the others.”

“I didn’t start it, but I ended it.” She said matter of factly. He chuckled softly and motioned for her to sit. She took a seat in one of the chairs facing his desk.

“I spoke with Bankotsu about the mission you went on last night. He told me what the demon told you.” Kagome nodded for him to continue. “I believe I know exactly who it is they’re looking for and it just so happens I’m also looking for him.”

He slid a picture across the desk to Kagome and she picked it up, studying the face. It was a man that looked to be around twenty three years old, but Kagome wasn’t naïve. She herself didn’t look older than twenty two when in reality she was three hundred and twenty.

The man had black hair that went to his mid back, grey eyes, and facial features that almost made her mouth water. Almost. He had a strong jaw and kissable lips. His skin was a tan and she could tell he was nicely built.

She looked up at her boss. “Why do they want him?” He looked like a regular harmless human to her.

Her boss took the picture and looked down at it briefly before tucking it away. “He’s extremely powerful and has rare abilities, the likes of which have never been seen before. If he joins them, we die.”

Kagome looked shocked for a moment. How the hell could one man be the downfall of their entire race. Her boss seemed to catch on to her thought process.

“He’s powerful like I said.” He stood and grabbed some papers from a table against the wall and handed them to her. “He hides among humans to hide his identity. Every once in awhile he changes his appearance, but the one on the photo is his latest. He works for Kenshi Corp, morning shift, so you’re the only one that can get to him. We don’t have an address for him.”

Kagome looked over the papers in her hand. They contained his work information, the address for his job and other information that she didn’t deem important. She stood to leave, but was stopped by a hand on her shoulder.

“Don’t expect this to be easy Kagome. He’s known to be brash and violent when he’s irritated. You may be stronger than the full bloods, but keep in mind that he’s in a class all his own as well.”

Kagome nodded, but couldn’t help but feel a bit peeved. She was basically just told that she would be nothing more than a walk in the park for whoever this guy was. She didn’t handle being called weak well.

“I can handle him and anyone else, no matter how powerful.” She retorted and made her way towards the door. She stopped briefly and turned back towards her boss. “What’s this guys name?”

Her boss looked at her and gave a small smirk.

“He goes by the name ‘Yash’ nowadays.”
