Farewell
We had been engaged outside of Edo; or rather what was left of the village. Ishin was being aggressive and there were more upper level tsuchigumo than I had ever seen in my life. I got to see what a widow tsuchigumo looked like. The females were the warriors and were dominant in their species. I was battling with a scorpion and the damn thing was relentless. I dodged a blow from its stinger and had to back flip. I was in too close of quarters to let the Spider Wave. I lifted my fang and the swirling black aura appeared again. I slashed through the scorpion and he screamed as he was voided. I was still trying to master the technique and it only seemed to work when I was threatened. I made a mental note to ask my sire. I had to jump up to avoid a funnel web. I looked around and saw Yuudai dispatching arachnids left and right. I sliced the funnel web straight in half and it fell dead at my feet. I saw my various warriors fighting and some getting injured. Anupu and Shezmu were fighting back to back and the brothers seemed as if they had grown close. Akemi had been right and they were hell hounds. I watched as Anupu's Inferno Blade burned through the creepy crawlies. Shezmu had his own inferno spear and a sword. I watched him for a second and he was brilliant. His moves were fluid as he fought. One tsuchigumo grabbed me and another intended to stab me. Fury erupted in me and I whirled and threw the one holding me into the other. I grew my whip and removed their heads. My twin was fighting as well and he had actually gotten quite good with a katana. I did notice he depended on his uppyr yoki more. He threw three scorpions against a small group of tsuchigumo with such force that I heard broken bones. I moved the melee and ended up back to back.
“Channel me sis!” Osamu cried.
I did as he asked and I felt a surge of my telekinesis and I threw ten tsuchigumo. I grinned at Osamu; he and I jumped into the fallen spiders and proceeded to stab all of them. I saw Airi fighting and she too was graceful. She was stabbing and slicing. She would inject her venom when possible. I watched fascinated as she spun a web and captured scorpions. I went back to the fighting and looked up and saw Yuudai get stabbed in the leg. I quashed my panic and watched as he thrust up and put his katana through the neck of the arachnid. I moved to him killing along the way. He looked at me and I could see he had been injected with venom. I ripped my haori and tied it tightly around his thigh. He nodded his thanks and went back to his fighting. I could not ask him to stop fighting because he would not anyway. I felt Ishin's aura and looked up. I moved quickly and saw he had singled out Airi. Osamu saw it too and a look of panic crossed his face. Airi was fighting fluidly and did not see another funnel web strike from the back.
“NO!” Osamu yelled.
Airi looked up as she was injected. Pain crossed her features but she moved and stabbed Ishin near his heart and the great funnel web grunted. He hit her backwards and retreated. Airi had managed to wound him pretty badly. Osamu and I reached her side and she reached up a shaking hand.
“Asuna please.” Osamu begged.
I held Airi to me and ported her back to the West.
“Jaken!” I screamed.
“Asuna it is too late. I am not immune to a funnel web.” She said shaking.
“Airi do not say such.” I said looking down.
“I want to see Osamu before I die.” She whispered in agony.
Jaken came running and I looked at him with tears in my eyes.
“Stay with her while I get Osamu.” I whispered.
The kappa looked distressed and I ported back to the battle field. I grabbed Osamu immediately and he knew. His face was stricken and I ported us back. The healer was there but he could not staunch the venom that was slowly eating away her insides. Osamu knelt and held his mate. I turned my head and forced myself not to cry.
“I am dying my love. Please tell Aimi that her haha loved her. I love you.” She said breathing slowly.
“Airi please! Do not leave me; I love you. Please!” Osamu cried.
“My little man beast you have made me happier than I have ever been. You need to leave; I do not want you to see what happens. Asuna take him!” She demanded.
“Airi!” I said my gut clenching.
“You could kill me swifter and burn my body before I completely succumb.” She asked Osamu.
“Airi do not ask that of me.” He said as tears streamed down his face.
My mother was standing further down the hall and tears streamed down her face. My sire was in the countryside killing rogue tsuchigumo. Naraku was fighting near Sapporo with a small group of my warriors.
“Osamu! Do this for me. I am dead already.” Airi cried.
My twin nodded dejectedly and took his katana with shaking hands. He leaned down and kissed his mate. She held his face and tears fell onto Airi's face. She grabbed his katana and shoved the blade into her heart. A strangled moan escaped my brother and Airi's head fell to the side lifeless. I went to Osamu and he turned to me and sobbed as I held onto him. I stood by helpless as my own eyes were flooded with salty wetness.
MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM div>
We had won the battle and had taken back Edo. My brother held onto me while we watched his mate being cremated. She had wanted to have her honors before there was nothing left to cremate. Osamu was blank as he watched the onna he had given his heart to pass on into the Netherworld. I felt his pain and it was profound. The warriors were returning home. Yuudai came over to us and actually hugged my brother. Osamu actually held onto his our best friend and my gut wrenched terribly. Naraku's mind brushed mine and he felt for Osamu. He promised to be by our side later. I thanked him and held my twin up.
“Osamu come.” I said softly.
“No. If I walk away it means she is really dead.” He said blankly.
“Osamu, Aimi needs her chichi. You have to be strong for your daughter.” I said softly.
He nodded dumbly and I walked my brother to my chambers. Yuudai came with us. I settled my twin on my own futon and I went to my father's study. I grabbed the sake bottle from the sideboard and went back to my chambers. I poured a rather large cup full and handed it to my twin who took it and downed it. I knew he was feeling the void that I had when Sheng had died. He handed me the cup back and I poured another. Being drunk at the moment would dull the pain for the moment. I had poured the whole bottle and Osamu laid down on my futon and thankfully passed out. I saw Mariko and my maidservant handling Nori, Ken'ichi, and Aimi.
“I am taking him to Shanghai. A change of scenery will do him good.” I whispered.
“I have never seen him like this.” Yuudai said softly.
“The pain is horrendous Yuudai. It feels as if death is preferable. Be glad you are not a psionic creature. Losing a mate is painful enough.” I said looking at my twin.
“I am thankful I am not. I have seen enough of your life to know I would never want it.” He said pulling me to him.
He kissed me lightly and I looked down at his leg.
“Please see to that. I am glad you are a toxic inu.” I said breathing a sigh of relief.
“Hai. Take your brother to Shanghai. If you wish to leave the pups here for a little while; we have a wet nurse.” Yuudai suggested.
“Hai. Naraku will be here later. Have him take Mizuki and Nori.” I said softly.
“Hai. I love you chuusin.” He mumbled.
“I love you too karuson.” I whispered.
I pulled him to me and kissed him passionately. Today reminded how precious life was and how it could be so easily ripped away; even for youki. He pulled away and bowed. I pathed to Naraku as he left and let him know of my plans. I touched my sleeping brother and channeled his yoki to take us to Shanghai. We appeared in my chambers and I removed my brother's boots. I covered him in a coverlet and went to my study. Sheng had the twins and I left it that way because I felt they were out of danger. Ang Chi had gone to He Gang with Hana and Ichigawa. The general was becoming more of a magistrate than a warrior but I trusted him and he adored Ang Chi. Sheng had a fondness for Hana and would watch over the lot of them. It was a month since I had given birth and I still had not seen my former mate. I had mended my heart to it and moved on. I sat down and wrote to Ang Chi and I wrote to Quon. The Byakko prince and I actually kept up a correspondence and I looked forward to his letters. I kept urging him to mate and that was met with a firm mind your own business. I smiled as I sat down and read his latest. He still referred to me as inu and I shook my head. He was telling me of the scandals in the Hunan court. He also informed me that his sire lamented the fact that my mother was mated to a damn dog! I laughed out loud and wrote him back.
Byakko,
You need to inform your father that the damn dog in question laments that tigers walk the earth, so he is in good company. I am in Shanghai and figured I could use your expert opinion on the matters here on the continent. Tragedy had befallen my family and my twin has lost his mate. I intend to keep him sedated for as long as possible and if you wish to meet him bring lots of sake or wine. You can tell Cheung that Akemi has mated Anupu. That has been a drama and the fall out has been nasty. I shall stay in Shanghai for awhile; we won back the village of Edo but it has come at a heavy cost. Come at your will.
Inu
I sealed the letter and sent it the way of a runner. Quon would get it soon and I knew without a doubt he would come here. I went and checked on Osamu and he still slept. Zhou came in and seemed surprised at my appearance.
“My Lady you have been in battle?” she asked softly.
“Hai. I need a bath. Zhou, that is my twin and if awakens ply him with liquor. I normally do not condone such actions but he lost his mate this day.” I said softly.
“Hai my Lady!” she said looking over at Osamu sadly.
I nodded and grabbed a yukata and went to the river.
///////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// /////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// /////////////////////////////////////////////////
Osamu slept and did not waken and I knew it was his way of dealing with his pain and the void. Quon arrived the second day and smirked at me. I was in my study and I looked up at him. I smirked back and stood up. We had become friends; strange as it was. I had not expected to get to know this Byakko so well.
“I am sorry to hear about your brother. I am glad to see though.” He stated.
“Should you like to see the first male I ever slept with?” I asked joking.
“Yes. Lead the way inu!” he replied.
I shook my head and I knew he did it to annoy me. He followed me to my chambers and I looked on as my brother slept. Quon looked and his eyes widened. My brother looked a lot like me. His magenta stripes stood out starkly on his cheeks and his silver hair was still pulled back.
“You and he look so similar!” he whispered.
“Hai. I am only a few minutes older than him. Come he has been pretty much sleeping for two days.” I said moving back to my study.
As soon as I had slid the door shut; he had me picked up and was kissing my mouth. My hands were in his hair untying it. I was wearing a yukata and he opened it.
“Now!” I demanded.
“Now what inu?” he purred in my ear.
“You are making me mad.” I snapped.
He massaged my nub and my eyes closed.
“Is that what you want? Tell me.” He demanded.
“I want you thrusting into me till I cannot scream any longer!” I whimpered in his ear.
He sat me on the desk and freed himself. I moaned as he slid in me and cried out as he withdrew. I was addicted to him and he knew it. The chemistry and rutting was always intense and he moved quickly. His lips sought mine and his hands were on my backside holding me in place. I started climaxing and my cries were muffled as his lips continued to devour mine. He stiffened and I bit into his tongue. I made him feel another climax and he roared softly. We calmed ourselves and I lay back on the desk.
“I always wish to rut the second I see you.” I breathed.
“Yes we are both whores.” He said lightly.
I chuckled and sat up. He withdrew and he watched me squeeze my eyes shut. He chuckled and righted his ku. I sat up and closed my yukata.
“So your cousin mated the Egyptian inu.” He said sitting.
“Hai. She told Daichi and he ended their union. The South is miffed badly. Akemi is pupped but seems quite happy.” I said softly.
“Interesting in deed. The spiders have been busy here as well. This village you mentioned is it important?” he asked curiously.
“Not strategically but for morale. My uncle is the village headsman.” I stated.
“That is where your brother's mate fell?” he asked.
“Hai. She was an ookami tsuchigumo and her cousin is the leader of the opposition. He is a funnel web and she was killed by another funnel web's venom. You know what the venom can do; Airi stabbed herself in the heart to spare my brother the tortures of watching her liquefy.” I stated sadly.
“Kamis I am so sorry!” he said horrified.
“That is why I have kept him drunk. Tsuchigumo are telepathic as well and my brother was soul bonded to Airi.” I said looking down.
“You know the pain he is in.” he observed.
“Hai. I do not want to foster a dependency on sake or wine but right now anything to numb the pain is good.” I said shrugging.
“Is he like you?” Quon asked.
“He is more outgoing than me. I am the warrior but as of late he has been training quite hard. Airi birthed him a daughter right before I had Nori and Ken'ichi.” I stated.
“Your twins? That is two sets for you.” He said smirking.
“I am done having pups for now. I will revisit the idea of more later. I actually enjoy the idea of a large family.” I said.
“Well that means I shall have to be careful of you.” He said smiling wantonly.
“Hai we could not have an inu-Byakko running around could we?” I asked joking.
“Perhaps not.” He said looking away.
“Quon what is on your mind?” I asked him.
“Nothing really. I am gratified to see you. I enjoy your letters immensely.” He said shrugging.
I smiled and stood up. I moved to the door.
“Please stay for a day or two.” I requested.
“Yes, I shall have to stay to memorize your every curve.” He smiled.
“You will give me a big head.” I said smirking.
“Inu, I have missed your witty retorts and comebacks.” He replied smirking back.
“You know where your chambers are.” I chuckled.
“Yes I do. Join me later?” he asked raising a silver brow.
“Hai.” I murmured.
I moved out of the study and went back to my chambers. Osamu was awake but very groggy. I went and sat with him; the look on his face broke my heart.
“Where am I?” he mumbled.
“Shanghai.” I said brushing my fingers along his cheek.
“You brought me to the mainland?” he asked.
“Hai. The pain is horrendous.” I stated.
“How did you make it go away?” he asked.
“I killed those responsible and Fillip and I had a short liaison. Stasio had killed his mate and he understood.” I said softly.
“I think I shall be unconscious again.” He said closing his eyes.
“Soon you will have to feel Osamu. Right now no but soon.” I said.
He looked at me with pain stricken eyes; I stood and poured him a cup of red wine. He took it and downed it. He took the bottle and proceeded to drain the contents. I watched him sadly and he patted the futon next to him.
“Stay with me until I pass out.” He said slurring.
I moved and lay down next to him and laid my head on his chest. He crushed me to him and I felt the silent sobs. It took a little while but he finally drifted again. I sat up and pressed my lips to his forehead. I got up and went in search of Zhou. I found her tidying my library.
“Can you and a man servant give Osamu a bath?” I asked.
“Hai my lady.” She said bowing.
“Thank you.” I whispered.
“Hai my Lady.” She bowed again.
I walked to the walkway that wrapped around the palace. I laid my head against a column and remembered when Sheng died. I still felt the hum in my mind and that reassured me. I brushed his mind for just a brief moment and pulled back before he could react. Tears streamed down my face and lamented that my brother had to feel this hell. I had ended up losing Sheng twice but at least he lived and my sons had their father. I would do it again. The physical pain crushed my heart remembering Tekeshi and his sacrifice he had made. I needed to go to He Gang. I went and found Quon and he was reading in my absence.
“I need to go to He Gang. Could you stay with my brother and make sure he sleeps?” I asked.
“What is in He Gang?” he asked me.
“A shrine that needs my attention.” I said looking down.
“Lord Tekeshi?” he asked me standing.
“Hai. I will be back shortly.” I said touching his face.
“Yes I will. You know this does not mean I like you too much inu.” He teased.
“Of course not!” I teased back.
I left and proceeded to teleport to the family shrine in He Gang. I masked my aura and scent. Sheng did not need me invading his space. I sat in front of Tekeshi's shrine and touched the kanji.
“I have not been here in awhile. I took the North for Hana and the Byakko prince has become a good friend. It is strange but whatever right? You taught me not to question everything. I gave Naraku the son he wanted; his name is Nori and I think you would find him handsome. I managed to convince a Kami to bring Sheng back and I would do the same for you if I could. He hates me now but I think that is okay. He lives and I will stop living the nightmare of watching him burn. I have that nightmare of you too. I think he hates what I have become and I understand completely. You know he is an extraordinary chichi because he had the best. Lady Airi has passed on and I do not know how to make it better for Osamu. I went and took over Sapporo after you passed on. I love and miss you. Hana's eyes are getting darker like yours and I swear I see you in her.” I stated then stood.
Sheng leaned against a column at the far end of the shrine. His blue eyes were stormy; I bowed and disappeared. I reappeared in Shanghai in my study. I sat and sobbed for my brother and my lost mate.
MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM div>
I was fast asleep on a chaise in my study; Quon had left earlier after we had exorcised our mutual attraction. We refused to succumb to deeper feelings and kept the relationship very informal. It worked that way and I need not hate myself further. I was roused awake by Zhou and I looked up groggy as hell.
“My Lady.” She said softly.
“Hai?” I asked.
“There is a Panyu inu in your antechamber.” She said.
“Thank you.” I said rising.
I wondered why Jin was here and I went to my chambers and put on a dressing gown. My brother slept and I slipped out quietly. I went to my antechamber and was shocked to see Sheng.
“I thought Jin was here.” I said stupidly.
“Why would he come?” he inquired.
“Never mind. My maidservant said that a Panyu inu was here. What can I do for you?” I asked quietly.
“Why did you not speak to me? Why did you not come to the palace?” he asked.
I kept my mind shielded and stared at my former mate. I shrugged and looked away.
“I did not wish to bother you. I was attending Tekeshi's shrine.” I said.
“Why am I bothering?” he asked as he turned to leave.
“Bothering to what Sheng?” I asked him softly.
“You still run away Koi.” He said in a stiff voice.
“Run away? To where Sheng? Where shall I runaway to?” I asked him in confusion.
“You will not face me.” He said turning to look at me.
“That is not what is happening. I am no good for you anymore. You deserve to have more than what I am.” I said in wretched despair.
“You brushed my mind earlier and withdrew so quickly I could not respond. You show up in He Gang and disappear. When did you learn to teleport?” he asked.
“Several months ago. Kazuo and Hiroto have been doing it so I figured I could too.” I said with a weak smile.
“You always run away Koi.” He said sadly.
“I am not running; I am trying to survive. When you died; I lived on anger and hatred. Mostly for myself because I failed you. I will not allow myself to fail you again. I am happy right now but if I think too much on you then I shall continue to hate myself.” I said fighting back the old anguish.
“You still feel the need to run through your life recklessly. You are happy? Really? I have no doubt that there are parts that give you great joy; I hear you had twin sons. Are you really happy Koi? I say this because I am suffering. I feel you as I should but I do not touch your skin or scent you.” He said pained.
“Stop it!” I demanded.
“Stop what? Telling you the truth? You will not face me to even speak.” He said looking into my very soul with his blue eyes.
I turned away from him and fled into the palace. I had loved and too much but Sheng was something different. I went to my study and poured myself a glass of wine. I had started partaking here and there ever since Tekeshi had introduced me to Toga's sake. I drained the goblet and my hands shook. He was right and I was running away but it made it easier to face myself. I poured myself another glass and I heard a soft knock on the door. I knew it was Sheng and I called `come'. He entered and watched me drain another goblet full.
“When did you start drinking any form of alcohol?” he demanded.
“When I went back to Toga and told him off. Did you see that memory? I am the reincarnation of my aunt Sheng. Here should you like a glass? The sake in my father's cellar is much better but this is from Europe. It is called Burgundy.” I said softly.
“Sure.” He agreed.
I poured him a goblet and handed it to him. I poured myself another goblet full and he stared at me in disbelief. I giggled at my own idiocy.
“Osamu lost his mate. It has been terrible for him. Much like how I felt when you were ripped from me. You should have mated Annchi, Sheng.” I said sighing and sitting.
“Stop this! This is not you!” he snapped.
“This is me! I rule Manchuria and the Northern Lands on the backs of dead men! I give myself comfort by losing myself in feelings so not to feel too much.” I said savagely.
“What happened to you?” he demanded.
I drained the goblet and stared past him.
“Do you want me to say that I have suffered? Hai I have suffered.” I said laughing.
“I want you to tell me about the uppyr Vlad.” He demanded.
“NO!” I shouted.
“Koi please.” He said suddenly.
“Hell no! You can think me a whore all you wish! That is fine but no I barely speak of it and I will not now!” I screamed.
He moved closer to me and I looked up at him. He sat next to me and touched my face. I stiffened and he held me firmly. He pulled me to him and I shrieked.
“Asuna stop! Koi it is me.” He said softly.
“Let me go.” I said growling.
I was shielding and he would need to be joined or have my blood and I intended for him to have neither. I fought him physically and he fought to keep me calm. He was incredibly strong and pushed me down.
“Get off of me!” I yelled.
“I do not want to hurt you. I want you to share with me.” He stated in a soft voice.
“You are forcing me?” I demanded.
Sheng kissed my throat and I moaned. He nipped at the skin feverishly and I started to struggle again. His breathing was heavy and started kissing along my throat to my ear. His harsh breathing sent chills down my spine and I stopped fighting him.
“Koi let me in. Let me see; I have missed so much.” he begged.
“Do not make me. Sheng please no.” I whispered.
“Asuna.” He cried as he nipped my ear.
He murmured against the skin behind my ear. I cried out and nodded slowly. He started again nipping at the sensitive skin behind my ear. He sat up and pulled me up. He settled me between his thighs with my back to his chest. He lowered his mouth to his mating mark and bit into it. I gasped and shuddered.
-Lower your shields. - He demanded in thought.
I cried out and lowered most of my shields. He prodded against those that were still in place and I growled fiercely.
-Koi let me see. - He thought.
-NO! Let me maintain a little dignity! - I snarled in his mind.
-Let me see what happened with the uppyr. - He said sensually in my mind.
I sighed and allowed him unfettered access to those events. I hated reliving these things and I wanted to vomit again at the sites I had beheld. He felt my utter humiliation and shame at Vlad waking up my uppyr side. He felt my loathing of having tasted mortal blood and enjoying it. I relived the memories of the female uppyr hands on me and him violating me in the throne room and tearing me asunder. He felt my utter self revulsion at my own weakness and Vlad taking me and having me climax for him. He released my throat and I scrambled away from him.
“Asuna.” He said softly.
“Stop! I do not want to hear anything. You demanded like you always did. Take the information and my shame. Nobody has seen all that! Nobody!” I cried.
“Everyone says you are different since it happened.” He said softly.
“Your death changed me! It was realizing that I made a decision that killed you. I am sorry! I am so sorry.” I said turning from him and holding into my desk.
“I understand your draw to Naraku. I would not have then but I understand now. I suppose dying made me realize how our bonding goes even beyond death Asuna. I felt you; I cannot explain it but I did.” He admitted.
“This is futile Sheng.” I lamented.
“Why are we futile? You love me still. You never stopped loving me.” He stated.
“No why would I stop loving you?” I asked him.
“My point. Kamis, I am hollow right now Asuna.” He said moving to me.
“Sheng!” I cried out as he moved closer to me.
His lips grazed mine and I gave in. This was not lust but love. It went deep and flowed more powerfully than I could control. He slipped the dressing gown off my shoulders and I went to untying his pein-fu. He pulled the hem of my chemise gown up and pulled it over my head. He kicked out of his geta and I untied his ku. We collided and our flesh seemed too far away. His hands held my jaw so gently and his lips would nip at my mine so gently and almost with hesitation. My hands roved over his body; needing to feel and memorize every muscle and every slight dimple or scar. When he had awoken the rutting had been brutal and harsh. He touched my skin as feverishly as I was his. Our kisses became heated and deeper. We sank to our knees; pressing our chests together. I felt Osamu rising and I growled. Sheng buried his nose into neck and sighed.
“Your brother is here?” he asked.
“His mate died in a battle with the tsuchigumo outside of Edo. Her name was Lady Airi and they had bonded the way you and I did.” I explained.
“Shit.” He cursed.
I sighed and stood. Sheng was obviously aroused and now very annoyed. He knew it could not be helped but it did not ease his ardor. He grabbed his clothes and dressed quickly. I slipped the chemise gown on and put on my dressing gown. I exited the study and Sheng waited so his body could calm down. I went to my chambers and Osamu was quite awake. He did not touch the wine and looked absolutely stricken. I went and hugged him. He buried his nose into my hair. Sheng came in and looked at my brother in pity.
“You can avenge her for you and your daughter.” I said firmly.
“How long have I been sleeping?” he asked numbly.
“Four days.” I answered.
“Hello Sheng.” Osamu said walking past him.
“Osamu where are you going?” I demanded.
“I am going hunting.” He said flatly.
“You do not know the grounds!” I said.
“A forest is a forest Asuna!” he snapped.
”Osamu!” I snapped as he walked away.
”Osamu!” I snapped as he walked away.
“Koi! Let him go. He is hurting.” Sheng said softly.
“Fine.” I said sighing.
I walked back to the study and there was a runner. I took several letters and scanned over them. Quon had sent me one and I smirked. He had to have sent it before he left Hunan. I put the letters in a drawer to read later. Sheng raised an eyebrow and I stared at him.
“You are very busy nowadays.” He stated.
“Hai I am.” I stated smiling gently.
“Why not read your letters and I will keep Osamu in check.” He said.
He left and I sat down. I pulled the letters out and opened Quon's first. He did have a sense of humor. He was just writing to see how fast this could reach me and if he would already have been to Shanghai or not. I smiled and wrote back that I hoped that this was all that he was quick in and that it would be such a disappointment if he was too quick. I could imagine the tiger's face as he read it. I also asked him if had a fear of water and he needed to try the river. I wished him well. I sealed the letter and took it to the runner. I smirked and I went through the other letters. One was from my father inquiring after Osamu. I wrote him back that he was as well as could be expected. The last was from Jin and he wanted to come to Shanghai and talk with me about Sheng. Apparently he was ignoring his Panyu kin and they were not happy. I sighed and wrote him to yes please come to Shanghai. I sat back and wrote to Yuudai and asked to find out if the funnel web that had killed Airi had been killed. Osamu needed some kind of closure. I stood up and delivered the letters to other runners. I went out onto the grounds and watched the river in the distance.
MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM div>
Jin and Jun showed up the very next day. Sheng was with Osamu in the dining hall getting very inebriated. I figured if Osamu started trying to stay awake more a little at a time we would wean him to get angry and get revenge. I was talking with Jin alone and Jun was walking the grounds.
“Sheng is here?” Jin asked surprised.
“He has been sweet and helping my brother after the loss of his mate.” I said quietly.
“I see. I am sorry to hear about that.” Jin said genuinely.
“Thank you. I am sorry too that Sheng is ignoring you. He and I have not exactly been talking a lot.” I said.
“That surprises me. I figured he would come back to you.” Jin asked.
“Jin let us dispense with niceties. He may not say it but he feels it in his heart that I am tainted. Why not I am. I cannot help you with him anymore than I could help myself.” I said bitterly.
Our moment we had passed and we had moved back to politeness. My heart was clenching painfully to the point I wished I was anywhere but here. Naraku brushed my mind and I knew he felt my emotions. He was not standing in my way with a reunion with him but it was not happening. I bit my lip to stop from weeping and looked at Jin.
“Asuna stop it! Things happened and they are past.” Jin said bluntly.
“You do not know Sheng. He is passionate and stubborn. He wants to believe one thing but his heart will keep him from it. The first time I met him he was ready to strike against my sire in defense of Katashi. When we bonded it was by accident. It was a half ass attempt to instruct him in shields. He is petulant and fervent. Kamis, I fell in love with him so hard that this is killing me. I do not care though. I want him to live and I want him to live without me.” I said as a lump formed in my throat.
“I do not know Sheng is right. He will not allow it. I realize that Tekeshi raised him but he is our baby brother.” Jin said.
“Feel free to try and reach him. He and I always had cycles. Unfortunately the Winter Palace did not fare well under our arguments.” I said smiling.
A runner came in and brought me two letters. One from Quon and one from Yuudai.
“Please be my guests.” I said.
“I thank you.” Jin said bowing.
I opened Yuudai's first and he said he was gathering information on exactly who delivered the killing blow. He told me he would be in Shanghai by the end of the week. That gratified me to no end. I opened Quon's letter and he point blank asked me what was wrong. The ink he said had been smeared when I had signed my name. I had not realized I had cried yet again. I replied that all was fine. I was just emotional after the death of my sister in law. I thanked him graciously for his concern but gently reminded him that I was canine and he was feline; I wrote lightly that we would always be at odds. I again urged him to mate and signed it simply inu. Tears were streaming down my face and I sealed the letter. I took it to an express runner and grabbed my sake from the sideboard. I was making this a bad habit. I decided to allow myself to wallow for just this day then get back on track. I had arachnids to kill. I took the sake and myself down near the river. I did not bother with a sake cup and drank it like a commoner and straight from the bottle. I did as my brother had been doing and numbed the pain away.
///////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// /////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// /////////////////////////////////////////////////
“Inu! Wake up! Asuna!” I heard a voice.
“Huh? What?” I asked in supreme irritation.
`The Byakko prince was again standing in front of me. I rolled my eyes and my head ached badly. He looked down at me and saw the empty sake cask.
“What in Kamis name are you doing?” he demanded.
“I was allowing myself yesterday as my day of self pity before I had to come back to the real world. I was remembering what a miserable failure as an onna I have become. I have made great strides as a warrior though. Come I am done feeling sorry for myself.” I said standing.
“You dogs are screwed up.” He muttered.
“Why is that?” I laughed.
“You are an idiot. Kamis your palace is full of inu and you are out here drinking yourself into coma.” He said shaking his head.
“What are you doing here Quon? I do not need to be bashed by you.” I said flatly.
“All joking aside inu; I care how you feel. I care if you are okay.” He said lifting my chin.
“Do yourself a favor and get away from me. I took Sapporo remember?” I snapped.
“Yes I remember. I was there.” He snapped back.
“You know you have your control and tidy life; allow me to have my self recrimination.” I said walking away.
“How did you expect to feel when you asked the Kami for his life back Asuna? You did an unselfish thing that has turned into a nightmare for you. Let it go. You are not the same nu zi; hell he is not the same male. Allow yourself to heal before you wish for death again. We write a lot inu. I know you now.” He said softly.
“Who in the Kamis name are you?” I heard Sheng growl from across the way.
Quon turned and stared at a very angry Sheng. My mouth dropped open as I had not sensed his approach. He was furious and stared at me.
“I am the Byakko Prince, Quon Hu.” The silver tiger said bowing.
Sheng's jaw was set and he was clenching his teeth. His yoki was ebbing and flowing and I could feel it skating along my skin.
“Sheng stop it!” I said quietly.
“Stop what?” he demanded.
“Pull your beast in. You are threatening to change.” I said softly.
“How dare a fucking tiger dare presume to discuss you and I. You write to her? How does that mean you know her?” he demanded.
“You are obviously out of your head Panyu dog! I shall leave you for now Princess Asuna.” He said grabbing my hand and kissing my knuckles.
I glared at him for being such an ass and he disappeared into his mist. Sheng grabbed me and pushed me against a tree.
“I cannot do this.” He hissed.
“Then do not Sheng. Do whatever it is you need to do.” I said dejectedly.
He ripped open my haori and nibbled and licked his way along my clavicle to the top of a breast. He placed gentle but exceedingly hot caresses on the soft mound.
“What are you doing?” I asked in a strangled moan.
“Healing us.” He murmured.
His lips and hands were busy lightly but zealously nipping and almost pecking at my flesh. He was leaving small red marks but it made me burn.
“Sheng!” I heard Jin call from somewhere close by.
“I am going to kill him. I swear I am going to kill somebody!” he snarled.
I escaped his grasp and Jin came upon us,
“What? What do you want?” Sheng growled at his brother.
“To speak with you. You are avoiding a conversation that needs to be had.” Jin growled back.
“Pardon but I know you not. Excuse me while I speak with the Lady Asuna.” Sheng said grabbing me.
“I never forced her to do a thing.” Jin said in an angry tone.
“Oh Kamis.” I muttered.
Sheng balled up his fist and hit Jin squarely in his perfect jaw. Jin looked angry but kept his counsel.
“You do not know us because you will not try. I am sorry about what happened but Jun and I are your siblings.” Jin snapped.
“You know what? I could not really care less. I have a miniature of an onna that could barely stand me as a toddler and then I come upon you; you try and lord over me and tell me what to do. Screw you.” Sheng snapped.
“I am not trying to lord over you but the fact remains you are our brother!” Jin snapped back.
“Koi when you get a moment I should like to speak with you alone. No brothers from either side. Do you hear that Lord Jin? I want peace for a little while. I do not want to speak with you about anything.” Sheng said in heavy sarcasm.
I bowed and went to move and Jin bade me to stay.
“Leave her out of this Lord Jin.” Sheng growled.
“I wish her to remain little brother.” Jin snapped.
I watched in horror as Sheng channeled my yoki and a dark green aura surrounded his hand and he shoved his claws through Jin's shoulder. I gasped at the pull and realized how connected we still were. Jin grunted and seemed surprised at the vehemence and yoki his little brother displayed.
“I am not your brother. Katashi was my brother and Lord Tekeshi my father. I do not need you nor anyone associated with you. Leave me and my mate alone.” Sheng snarled.
“There in lies the rub baby brother she is not yours anymore is she?” Jin scoffed.
“Jin!” I snapped.
“Be quiet Asuna.” Jin snapped back.
Sheng grabbed the Kumosaiga from my side quickly before I could react.
“Put that thing down Sheng. You have no idea what that thing can do.” Jin warned.
“Oh I have a pretty good idea; seeing it is Asuna's blade it should be able to wreck all kinds of havoc.” Sheng smirked.
“Sheng I would have my fang back.” I said softly.
“I am curious if I can use it.” He said snapping.
Sheng arced the blade towards the forest and the green aura surrounded it and the resulting energy release threw us all back. My head hit a rock and pain exploded. I reached up and touched my forehead and blood coated my fingers. Jin sat up and shook his head. Sheng stood up and looked at me. I could not believe it but Sheng was realizing his full yoki. He was a taiyouki and had never been trained. His power was raw and untamed. He had a silly grin on his face and looked down at me. He hauled me up and I was dumbfounded.
“I have no idea how you are wielding my fang but that was incredible.” I said amazed.
“Damn reckless too.” Jin added.
“Who made this blade?” he asked enthusiastically.
“Totosai did. My father and Naraku both supplied their fangs.” I said.
“Naraku?” Sheng asked surprised.
“Hai.” I answered.
“This just gets more interesting. What does it do for you?” he asked.
Jin could not believe he was being ignored in favor of my blade. I took the Kumosaiga from Sheng and controlled my yoki and let loose a small wave. Sheng watched as the air rippled then poor trees were blown away. Sheng's eyes widened in surprise. I then channeled all my yoki and actually produced the dark aura that could void. Jin actually seemed highly impressed as well. I sheathed the fang and looked at the brothers.
“I need to see to my own brother. Do whatever you like. If you plan to spill blood then please do so out this way.” I said bowing.
I moved back towards the palace and went and checked on Osamu. He was sitting in the dining hall and I sat by him.
“Is there anything to make this better?” he asked.
“The truth?” I asked.
“Hai the truth.” He said.
“I told you about Fillip. He was a good friend and it did help to ease the ache.” I said softly.
“So you suggest I rut?” he said bitterly.
“That is what helped me Osamu. What helps you may not be the same thing.” I said softly.
“I am bitter. I am sorry.” He replied holding my hand.
“Yuudai will be here tomorrow.” I said.
“Good. I am glad you mated him. You two have always been good together.” Osamu said sighing.
“I am happy too. He was the first male besides you and father I ever loved.” I said smiling.
“Can you go get him and bring him here now?” he asked.
“Hai.” I said.
I stood and teleported to the Western Palace. Yuudai was in his study with Ken'ichi in a cradle by him. The sight astonished me.
“Karuson?” I said softly.
“Chuusin? What are you doing here? Are you all right?” Yuudai asked.
“I am fine. Osamu wants you now.” I said picking up Ken'ichi.
“I can come I suppose. How are things?” he asked softly.
“Oh well Sheng is there. He is arguing with Jin. I feel like a complete idiot when I am around him.” I said as Yuudai held me.
“Chuusin, it will get better. I know you love him passionately. I do not know how he will handle you and this life but it works for us. He can kiss my ass if he thinks I will relegate myself to just being your general.” He said defiantly.
“Come let us help Osamu. I may have you take him into the city and whatever happens.” I said.
Yuudai chuckled and I smiled. I held onto him and teleported us all to Shanghai. We appeared in the dining hall and Osamu looked up. He smiled at Osamu and my brother seemed relieved. I walked away to give them time to talk. I lifted my head and saw Naraku. I shook my head and he smiled at me. I went to him and hugged him tightly.
“I figured you would wish to see Nori and Mizuki.” He said.
“Hai. I need to bring all the pups back together. Come let us bring them to the nursery.” I said and he followed.
I laid Ken'ichi and Nori together in a large cradle. They would sleep better if they were next to each other. Mizuki came and hugged my neck. I smiled at her and she went to the twins and rocked the cradle softly.
“She says that they are her babies.” Naraku whispered.
“They are.” I grinned.
“Ishin was injured pretty badly. Airi's grandson Kenta has made contact with me and we have a small group of ookami and funnel webs on our side. There will be another showdown soon. Kenta is beyond incensed about Airi's death.” He said softly.
“Could we have done anything?” I asked.
“No. The venom is beyond toxic to most youki. You inu that have poison claws seem not to be affected.” He stated.
“We need to prepare. I want to see if we can produce an antivenom.” I said thoughtfully.
“That is a fabulous idea. Who should we capture to produce this anti venom?” he asked with a gleam in his eye.
“The funnel web that killed Airi. If he dies then no big loss.” I said frowning.
“The inu mutts are moving this way.” He muttered.
“Which ones.” I asked.
“The dirty ones.” He said teasing.
“Ah the Panyu inu.” I said smiling.
“I shall see you later my sweet.” He said brushing his lips against mine.
“Stay please.” I begged.
“Asuna, you cannot use Yuudai and I to solve this issue. You know we are not going anywhere.” He said holding my chin.
“I do not wish to use you.” I said stubbornly.
“We have faced so much and I have no doubt in my mind of your feelings. I feel them and you need to face whatever it is that this is. I am a selfish creature and you know this but in order to have you; I cannot posses you. It has been a lesson well learned. Sheng was ripped from you and you have a chance. Do not waste it trying to live up to a damn ideal. You are not Sesshomaru.” Naraku stated looking at me straight in the eyes.
Sheng stood in the doorway and had heard the speech. I looked up and Sheng looked Naraku dead in the eyes.
“You are the dark hanyou.” Sheng said evenly.
“I have been called that but I am full youki. I am Naraku.” He said standing.
“I owe you many thanks for helping to save her from that beast.” Sheng said softly.
“I owe her my life.” He said simply.
“Hai I suppose that we both do.” he said moving to see the twins.
“Who you?” Mizuki asked.
Sheng looked at Mizuki in surprise. She was very well spoken for a three nearly four old. She blinked her mahogany eyes at him.
“Hiroto and Kazuo's chichi.” He said.
“He dead.” Mizuki stated bluntly.
“Mizuki!” I admonished her.
“Hai I was. Haha called me back though.” He said sitting.
“Why?” she asked.
“Why haha?” Sheng asked me.
Naraku nodded to me and disappeared into his miasma. Sheng watched impressed and turned his attention back to me.
“Haha has always loved Kaz and Roto's chichi.” I said looking at Sheng.
“You love Zuki's chichi.” She said proudly.
“Hai I do.” I said brushing her raven hair out of her eyes.
“I rock my babies.” She said moving over to the cradle.
“She is the one that was taken.” He stated.
“Hai.” I muttered.
“I forgive you.” He said softly.
I looked at him and I knew that is what I needed from him most. Tears pricked my eyes and I nodded. He went to the cradle and picked up Ken'ichi first. He looked at him and smiled softly. He laid him down gently and lifted up Nori who was catching up to his twin in size. Nori blinked his eyes at the strange inu and whimpered. Sheng chuckled and held him close. Nori calmed as Sheng growled softly.
“They are handsome boys. He is going to be soft spoken, His sister is the persona.” He said to me.
“Hai she already is.” I said smiling weakly.
“Jin and Jun are leaving. I am not ready to deal with them yet. I resent the idea that he is trying to force it.” Sheng said.
“Jin has a very strong personality.” I whispered.
“What I get from your memories I do not like. I realize I am domineering but he borders on pain in the ass.” Sheng remarked.
I chuckled and stared at him with softness in my expression. Yuudai appeared in the doorway and I stood up.
“No chuusin do not get up. I am taking Osamu into the city as you suggested. Good day my Lady and Lord Sheng.” He said respectfully.
“Thank you.” I said softly.
He winked at me and took my leave. Sheng seemed surprised too. Zhou came forward and took my place with the pups. Mizuki gave me a hug and I leaned down and kissed her head. Sheng and I walked through the halls and he sighed.
“The boys and Hana need to be here too.” He said heading towards my study.
I followed and he sat down. I watched him and he turned and looked at me.
“You could teleport there and channel me to get back.” He suggested.
“Hai.” I replied taking his hand.
I teleported us to He Gang near the private apartments of the family. Sheng pulled me to his room. He pushed the doors open and then shut them with his foot. He pushed me on his bed and was on me. His face carried a hungry look that I knew well. He was undoing the thin obi of my kimono and got impatient. He shredded it with his claws and I opened the heavy silk. He started running his tongue along the plains of my belly. My eyes perused him and he met my glance.
“They know I am going to take you. Naraku is a telepathic creature is he not?” Sheng asked lustfully.
“Hai. What does that matter?” I asked confused.
He chuckled and my eyes widened in understanding.
“I am going to make this work. I am going to tie us all together.” He whispered.
“Sheng what are you doing?” I asked him.
“I told you. Since he is a telepathic and we have a rather unique situation upon us; the three of us shall be bound.” He said in a sultry tone.
“I do not understand.” I said softly.
“You will.” He said kissing me deeply.
He ran his hands over my body wantonly. My mind was whirling at what he was suggested and I could not wrap my mind around the idea. He could not possibly mean what I thought he did. He pulled my thoughts back into the moment by nipping my inner thighs. I lifted my head and groaned. He kissed the sensitive skin near my center and I sighed. His touch was electrifying.
“Tell me exactly what you wish Koi.” He demanded.
“I do not care! I just want to feel you; I want to feel you inside of my mind and body.” I cried.
“Kamis!” he groaned sliding up my body.
He kissed me urgently and allowed his yoki to sweep along my skin. I moaned as we mingled. He pulled away for a moment and stripped out of his pein-fu and ku.
“Sheng.” I whispered.
“Hai?” he asked pressing his naked body against mine.
He lowered his lips and started to nip and suck at the flesh of my breasts like he had started earlier. He suckled a nipple onto his mouth and pressure built up in my groin. He let a finger slide between my folds and graze me.
“Koi you are ready to release for me already?” he whispered softly.
“Hai.” I responded.
“Focus on me my love.” He said as he slid into me.
I moaned and arched my hips. He moved slowly and his yoki washed over me and I cried out softly.
“Can you reach Naraku? Can you concentrate on making him feel pleasure?” he said in a strangled whisper.
“Hai but why?” I asked.
“Just enter his mind and make him feel you.” Sheng said breathing roughly.
I nodded and stretched my mind. My mind brushed Naraku's and I flooded him with my frenzied aching. He gasped and I felt him moan. Sheng continued to move more sharply and I was gasping.
-Asuna! What are you doing? - Naraku's thought entered my mind.
I allowed him to experience my increasing fervor. Sheng massaged my nub and I cried out. Naraku was confused and overwhelmed with the rising pleasure mounting. I knew instinctively Sheng was going to bind us through our joining. The forbidden made it all the more erotic and I started experiencing a complete climax in body and mind. I saw Sheng focus on keeping himself back just a little but his movements were quick and hard. The orgasm took me completely and I was shaking. I could feel my other mate experiencing his own climax and Sheng bit into my neck and stiffened in his own release. I cried out again and laid my head back. Sheng was kissing my neck feverishly and I was exhausted. I sensed Naraku totally confused as to what happened.
-Come to us. - Sheng said to Naraku.
-How? - Naraku asked shocked.
I looked up and I could sense them both in my mind.
“What did you do exactly?” I asked Sheng.
He withdrew from me and dressed himself quickly. I closed the kimono and Naraku appeared suddenly. He still looked confused and still very aroused.
“How can I feel you as such inu?” he asked Sheng.
“I refuse to have anything less than all of Asuna; that includes you. You both in a sense are mine.” Sheng said crossing his arms.
Naraku's mouth dropped open and I stared at Sheng in shock.
“You act on this whim without even discussing it?” Naraku said angry.
“Hai I do. Like I said Asuna was my mate before you but I did die. This is my solution to a difficult situation. I am not going away and neither are you. All three of us are tied together permanently. Do with it what you will dark one but I for one intend to grow in power. You two are exceedingly powerful and I can now channel you both. I am going to see my sons.” He said bowing then leaving.
Naraku turned to me and he was furious. He did not like his life changing at all let alone someone else doing it for him.
“I did not do it this time!” I said defensively.
“Has he always been so damn arrogant?” he demanded.
“Pretty much.” I mumbled.
“His arrogance is worse than yours!” Naraku growled.
“Thank you Naraku.” I said in irritation.
“He tied me to him through you! I am going to beat him into the ground!” he growled loudly.
“Stop! I was unsure of exactly what he was doing. He trained with my mother in his psi abilities.” I mumbled.
“So basically he rivals you and me in our mental yoki.” Naraku muttered.
“Hai.” I shrugged.
“That was the most erotic thing that has ever happened to me; I am unsure of how to react.” He said through gritted teeth.
“I am sorry.” I said sheepishly.
“I am wondering if I am going to feel that always. I will not be able to function!” he snapped.
“I will ask him.” I said.
“No I will!” Naraku went to where the boys were.
Sheng was playing with the twins. He was building towers out of blocks and Hiroto and Kazuo were knocking them down with play swords.
“Naku!” Kazuo yelled.
“Hi Naku!” Hiroto said with a small smile.
Kazuo came over and hugged my raven haired mate's legs. Hiroto followed suit and he rubbed their heads affectionately. Sheng watched with interest and Naraku glared at my first mate. Sheng blinked his blue eyes and smiled.
“Boys let us find Ang Chi and Hana.” I said to the twins.
I took them out to give the two males privacy.
///////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// /////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// /////////////////////////////////////////////////
Sheng sat up and watched Naraku with interest. The dark youki sat and continued to glare at him. Sheng chuckled and watched him.
“Well if you continue to glare then I will speak. It is obvious that my sons care for you and Asuna loves you. What would you have us do? See the by products as a bonus.” Sheng stated.
“It is no wonder you and Asuna get along so well. Both of you have tendencies of changing my life without regard to me!” he snarled.
“You like your privacy I feel but you have a family; privacy went out the window along time ago. You are an adaptable creature, so adapt!” Sheng remarked flippantly.
“Would you have done this before?” Naraku asked in anger.
“No probably not. I would have tried to take you out. Death can change someone though. I look forward to the effects of this joining do you not?” Sheng said smirking.
“Who told you how to do this?” the dark one asked.
“Lady Augusta mentioned it. The idea intrigued me I must admit but when I was able to wield the Kumosaiga did it seem correct.” Sheng admitted.
“You are able to yield Kumosaiga?” Naraku asked shocked.
“Hai. I am taking Tekeshi's example one step further. I assure I am not Lord Jin.” Sheng stated easily.
“Will what happened earlier happen again?” Naraku said thinly.
“I imagine it will. Should we not get something by loving the same onna?” He chuckled.
“Kamis you are arrogant!” Naraku snapped.
“I am right. It is not arrogance when one is right. Be angry Naraku but it is done.” Sheng said standing.
“What of Yuudai?” Naraku asked tightly.
“He is not gifted with psi abilities.” He said bluntly.
“I cannot believe you did this.” He said in an angry voice.
“I believe you told Asuna that she should have forced the bond between you and her along time ago. Well I am forcing this. I think in time you will see it too.” Sheng shrugged.
Naraku stared as the inu walked away. He knew him to be a century older than himself. He was not to be trifled with and had managed something remarkable. His mind was reeling from the session of mental rutting. He did not resemble the hanyou he had been when he first came into existence. His entire being had been changed thanks to a bunch of inu! He was someday going to cook said dogs!
///////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// /////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// /////////////////////////////////////////////////
Yuudai and Osamu were in the city near the harbors. The Western prince wandered aimlessly and Yuudai kept a close eye on him.
“Are you sure you just do not want to kill the funnel web?” Yuudai asked.
“I will eventually. You know Asuna and Naraku are planning on making antivenom. I find that fascinating. I wonder why we had not thought on it before.” Osamu muttered.
“What ifs will destroy you Osamu.” Yuudai stated.
“I am sure it will.” He answered sadly.
“Well well well! What do we have here?” a feminine voice asked.
“Excuse me?” Yuudai said turning.
A female youki stood before them unlike anything either male had seen in Asia. Her hair was golden with deep waves that reached her backside. She wore a white linen shirt that was open to the swell of her breasts. She had on breeches of heavy black velvet and she wore a hat with a feather. A mortal that saw her would not know she was youki. Her eyes were a brilliant sapphire blue and she watched the two male youki in obvious Japanese dress. Osamu's mouth was wide open and the female stepped forward and shut it. Osamu looked down and this creature's feet and she wore knee high black boots.
“Ye two are canine demons.” She said in Ming Chinese.
“Who and what are you?” Yuudai asked.
“Pardon my manners. I am Aileana MacEwan. I am a merchant from Europe.” She said bowing.
“A female?” Osamu asked dumbly.
“Yes. I do not see many demons except for the tigers along here. There are rumors that the city is ruled by a dog demon.” Aileana stated.
“You are a canine too.” Yuudai said scenting.
“Ah but ye see the mortals do not know that. Europe is coming out of terrible religious wars and demons are evil.” She said laughing and putting a finger to her lips.
“What are you?” Osamu asked.
“Surely ye have foxes in Asia.” She said smiling.
“Your are a kitsune?” Osamu said in disbelief.
“Is that what they are called on the islands?” she asked.
“Hai kitsune. You do not have youki features at all.” Yuudai observed.
“Bred right out of us. I assure ye I can change form.” She said winking.
Osamu was dumb struck and Yuudai was impressed.
“Well I have introduced myself; do ye two have names or shall I call ye dog demon one and two?” Aileana asked.
“I am Yuudai and this is Osamu.” Yuudai said bowing.
“Well then Yuudai and Osamu; it is has been a tremendous pleasure meeting ye. I unfortunately need to go with the tide.” She said smiling broadly.
Her teeth were brilliantly white with only the hint of fangs.
“Where are you from exactly?” Osamu demanded.
“Scotland.” She said.
“You must stay and meet the other youki here. The Byakko are felines; you really should meet the ruler of Shanghai.” Osamu said brightly.
“I could put off going back another day. I should like to meet the ruler.” She said curtsying.
Yuudai put a hand on Osamu's arm and looked at him surprised.
“By the way who does rule?” She asked.
“My sister and his mate.” Osamu answered.
“Amazing.” She said smirking.
Osamu looked and waited and she laughed.
“I have to let my men know on my ship what is goin on.” She said backing up.
“Osamu have you lost your mind?” Yuudai asked.
“No I have not. She is a distraction and I need something different right now. She can tell me of her travels and I can focus on something besides Airi's death!” he said fiercely.
“Alright gentlemen lead the way.” She said with a slight bur to her Chinese.
Yuudai and Osamu walked in the direction of the palace. Yuudai sighed mentally and wondered how Asuna was going to react to this. He shook his head at the twins. They were both strong willed and reckless.
///////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// /////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// /////////////////////////////////////////////////
All my pups were at the palace in Shanghai and I felt better having them all with me. Naraku was furious still and would need time to deal with Sheng's actions. Sheng had opted to return to the West and more training from my mother. I sensed Yuudai and Osamu approaching but also with another aura. It was a strange one and I stood and walked to meet them. I saw a golden haired onna who my senses told me was a kitsune. She appeared mortal but exuded yoki. Osamu was animated in his talking and Yuudai shrugged. Osamu came up with the kitsune in tow and grinned at me.
“This sister is Aileana MacEwan. She is from Scotland is captain of a merchant ship.” Osamu said introducing me to her.
“Hello Miss MacEwan. I am Lady Asuna.” I said bowing.
“Hello my Lady.” She said bowing.
Her accent was charming and I found myself warming to the foreign kitsune immediately. I bade her sit and my twin and mate did the same.
“I am thrilled to meet foreign demons. The tigers are alright but I do not know many canids ye know.” She said smiling.
“You hail from Scotland. That is the British Island is it not?” I asked interested.
“Yes it is. It is excitin to meet a female ruler. Ye do not see it often in our societies. The Queen of England is a powerful mortal woman to be sure but to meet a demon female.” She said in awe.
“My parents are both powerful youki.” I said.
I motioned for tea and a manservant brought a tray around. We all had a cup and the kitsune vixen was looking around.
“Should you like to see the palace and grounds? Osamu would love to show you.” I said smiling.
“That would be marvelous my Lady. I am truly honored and humbled.” She said curtsying.
“That is unnecessary to do. I shall see you shortly.” I said bowing.
Osamu jumped up and I watched him lead the vixen out of the room.
“Asuna what are you doing?” Yuudai asked.
“He is distracting himself and that is good.” I said smiling.
“Alright. You know what you are doing.” He said wrapping his arms around me.
“Thank you for taking him to the city.” I said happily.
“What are you thinking he may become involved?” he asked me.
“I am praying for it.” I said.
Yuudai sighed and I turned in his arms. He looked down at me and one of those moments of desire coursed through us both. He picked me up and took me to my chambers.
MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM div>
“So you are from these Highlands. What is it like?” Osamu asked intrigued.
“Ye do not have mountains Prince Osamu? It is very green with lots of lochs. I think a dog would have good time there.” She said smiling.
“How is it you hide from the mortals?” he asked.
“Well we do not look like the demons here. I think it happened seven or eight centuries ago. Probably about the time of the Romans. We had to adapt or die. So we adapted. My father is a Laird of Sutherland.” She said smiling.
“Why are you on a merchant ship?” he asked in fascination.
“What would ye have me do? The navy does not take women and I love the ocean. My father I think wants me to travel to find a demon husband. My brother married a mortal. Ye can imagine the shock the poor lassie received when she found out about us. They are happy now but I think my paw is hoping I find something different.” She said laughing.
“So you are a merchant marine and you dress as a man. What else?” he asked surprised.
“I assure ye Prince Osamu I am a woman. Highland females are not quiet like. We are loud and stand up to our men. Besides I can handle myself, I am a demon after all.” Aileana said smiling.
“I prefer obnoxious females; I assure you of that. My sister is my twin and was born minutes before myself. Our mother is a Russian youki. So you see we have strong ties to Europe.” He said.
“Russia ye say. I have been to Black Sea and the Baltic. Ye are fascinating to me to. Do ye hunt or do ye eat food prepared.” She asked cocking her head to the side.
“Both but hunting is better.” He smirked.
“I am sure ye are a more impressive sight. I am supposed to be a red fox but as ye can see I am quite blonde.” She said laughing.
“Alright we shall see.” Osamu said grinning.
Osamu changed form and the yoki pressure was horrendous. He appeared in his true form and Aileana had to look up. He was huge and gorgeous. His fur was long and his eyes seemed to be smiling.
“Ye are stunning!” she cried.
He barked and she grinned. She changed form herself and she became a petite gold kitsune with a huge bushy tale. Her eyes remained blue and she came up and licked his paw. Osamu jerked his head towards the forest and she yipped. He took off in a run and she followed. He put his nose to the ground and lifted his muzzle and took off after a deer. She followed and Osamu took down a stag quickly. She put her nose to the ground and sniffed out a hare. She had to give chase and captured the large rodent and severed its neck. She dragged her prize back to the giant male dog and started her meal with gusto. She spied him and he seemed to be watching her closely. She yipped and he barked softly. He started eating and watched the kitsune female finish eating. She transformed into her humanoid form and looked at him.
“Ye have a big stomach Prince Osamu.” She smirked.
He transformed back into his humanoid form and grinned. He took her hand and he dragged her to the river. He leaned down and washed his hands and face; she followed suit.
“This has been fun but I need to get back if I am going to make the tide.” She said.
“Why not stay a few weeks or better yet send the ship back with a letter?” he said softly.
“I just met ye Prince. I come back to Shanghai three times a year. I will be back.” She said smiling at his enthusiasm.
“I just lost my mate and you are a welcome relief to the endless hours without her. I want to hear you talk about your homeland and your adventures. I have not been beyond Russia.” He said looking away.
“Dear God in heaven I am so sorry for yer loss Prince Osamu. I can stay a week but then I have to go back.” She said touching his arm.
“Thank you. Come let us not be sad. We can finish our meal inside if you wish.” He said standing.
“Yer mate, what was her name?” Aileana asked.
“Airi.” Osamu said wincing.
“I thought I saw some excellent wine from France. Let us sup.” She said taking his arm.
They walked back towards the palace at a slow pace. Aileana wanted to know how his mate had died but was terrified to ask. She smiled at him.
“She was a spider youki. We were in battle and she was struck by a funnel web.” He said at her thought.
“Are ye telepath?” she asked surprised.
“Hai.” He said absently.
“Yer are a complex demon Prince Osamu. I am glad to know ye.” She said as they approached the palace grounds.
“I am a product of an uppyr and inu youki, Aileana.” He said softly.
“Uppyr? Ye mean a vampire?” she asked surprised.
“I think that is what they are called in legend. We call them uppyr or kiang shi.” He shrugged.
“Do ye drink blood young prince?” she asked.
“Only in the midst of rutting.” He said smirking.
The Scottish kitsune blushed profusely and he chuckled. He could scent her purity but she was different and she was not a reminder of Airi. He realized he needed his daughter with him and decided to have Asuna bring her to Shanghai. They made their way into the dining hall and he saw his sister and Yuudai eating soup. He whispered in Asuna's ear and she nodded. She looked relieved and she stood and disappeared. Osamu sat down and Aileana next to him. Asuna appeared ten minutes later with a tiny infant in her arms. She handed Osamu his daughter and he had to breathe in to get air. Aimi had his silver hair and Airi's gray eyes. She had black stripes on her arms and one down her back.
“Whose bairn is this?” Aileana asked.
“This is my daughter Aimi. She was born two months ago.” Osamu said as he looked at his infant daughter with love.
“Prince Osamu, God I am so sorry! Pardon me!” she cried standing up and fleeing the room.
I looked at Osamu who stood up and deposited Aimi in my arms. I looked at Yuudai who looked as confused as I was.
Osamu followed the kitsune's scent and she was crying. She looked up at him and wiped her eyes.
“My mother died when I was very young. My father raised me. I think that is why I am no lassie but more of boy.” She said straightening.
“I am sorry. I have been wallowing in self pity for awhile now. My daughter needed her chichi back.” He said softly.
“Look let us finish our meal and I will try and not act like a whiney lass, alright?” she said smiling.
“Hai that sounds well.” Osamu said bowing.
Aileana and Osamu reentered the dining hall and they sat. I called Zhou over and I had her take Aimi to the nursery. I had also brought Mariko to Shanghai.
“Aileana tell us about your island.” I said curiously.
“Well Scotland is actually above England. We have our own king; his name is James Stuart. Jimmy is really quite nice. He stays with us at Sutherland sometimes.” Aileana said.
“Does he know your family is youki?” I asked.
“Oh yes he does. Father and he like to drink whiskey. Poor Jimmy is in line for the English throne. Elizabeth had signed the death sentence for his mother some thirteen years ago. I am sorry I am going on and on.” She laughed.
“Fascinating really. So this king knows of youki?” I asked intrigued.
“Yes, he does not know the extent of it and I doubt he can truly fathom.” She replied thoughtfully.
“How old are you?” Osamu asked.
“I am seventy two.” She said smiling.
“Kamis you are young” Yuudai said shocked.
“I know but I am good at what I do Yuudai.” She said laughing merrily.
“Tell me more of this king.” I asked leaning forward.
“Jimmy is thirty four and he is worldly but has to put on front to his advisors who think he is a good pious protestant.” She said chuckling.
Aileana took a sip of the Burgundy and smiled.
“Ye need to import some of the wines from the Rhine valley. It is good.” She stated.
“I shall look into that. Please stay as long as you can in Shanghai Miss MacEwan.” I said standing and then bowing.
“Thank you Lady Asuna. I think I shall stay a week if ye truly do not mind.” Aileana commented.
“Absolutely.” I said smiling.
I left the dining hall with Yuudai in tow to give Osamu some privacy. Even if he was only friends with the foreign kitsune; he was not wallowing in pity.
“She is untouched.” Yuudai muttered softly.
“I know. Osamu would never take an untouched female. Why do you think he was initially attracted to Airi?” I asked softly.
“He preferred experienced lovers.” He admitted.
“Hai. No she is quite safe and a good distraction.” I said confident.

“If I stay here Prince Osamu; I shall need to go to my ship and retrieve my clothes.” She said yawning.
“I will accompany you if you so wish.” He said standing.
“That would good.” Aileana stated standing.
The vixen took his arm and they left the palace and traversed the path that led into the city of Shanghai and the harbors. It would take almost an hour to reach and Osamu looked forward to the conversation. They talked of unimportant matters and she jumped up on her ship when they reached it.
“Would ye like to come aboard?” she asked smirking.
“Hai I think I will.” He said climbing up a rope ladder.
“Thomas this young man is Prince Osamu. His sister rules Shanghai. I am going to stay at their palace a few days.” She said in English.
“Aileana! Ye know nuthin of these creatures! Ye be too trustin lassie!” Thomas said indignantly.
“I can trust another demon Thomas. How many do ye think I run into? Besides they are canine like me.” She said quickly.
“Lady MacEwan ye know I keep ye secret but I will be damned if ye run off with a rogue!” Thomas snapped stomping his foot.
“Thomas! I can do as I like. If ye remember I am much older than ye. My paw will alright with me meeting and talking with the dog demons. I love ye old man!” Aileana chuckled as she looked up at Osamu.
Osamu stared at the two and shook his head at the strangest language he had ever heard.
“Besides Thomas we are being rude.” Aileana stated.
“Ye want me ta speak Ming lassie?” the old mortal asked.
“Yes. How would ye like it if we spoke a language in front of ye not understanding?” she asked.
“Yes Lady Sutherland!” Thomas said in Ming.
Osamu stared at the kitsune and mouthed the word `Lady'.
“Yes Prince Osamu. I am known as Lady Sutherland. My father is actually known as Earl of Sutherland. I call him paw and our people call him laird.” She said smiling.
“You are a noble then?” he asked surprised.
“Yes technically but we are the un-noble family ye ever met. Our banqueting hall is normally full of drunk highlanders and my father is normally one of them.” She said smirking.
“Your land sounds amazing.” He whispered.
“Then why not come and visit it? Yer sister can teleport. Why not come fer a little while?” she asked him.
“The tsuchigumo have been horribly active; I could not abandon my family.” He said shaking his head.
“Why not ask yer sister? A week or so?” she asked.
“Hai I think I will.” He said nodding.
“I think we could pass ye fer human.” She said lifting his chin and looking at his stripes.
“Would they not think me exotic since I am from such a strange land?” Osamu asked amused.
“Yes I think that the women would try and get ye into their beds.” She laughed.
“Not interested in that.” He said flatly.
“Good to know.” She laughed.
“Hn.” Osamu muttered.
“What does that mean? Are ye fer Scotland?” she asked him softly.
“Hai I am for Scotland.” He replied.
