The Other Side

 

Sesshomaru stared in utter disbelief. His mate stood next to his sire, which at the moment was very much alive. He moved forward ever so slightly and scented carefully. It was his sire and Augusta looked nervous.

“You are well?” he asked her tightly.

“Hai I am well. Are you alright?” she asked.

“Augusta what is my sire doing here?” he asked her.

“It is a long story Sesshomaru but it can wait. Asuna has been taken by Lei Jing.” She said coming closer.

“Sesshomaru.” Touga said in his rich voice.

The current Western Lord turned his amber eyes to the former Western Lord and he was confused and in turmoil though it did not show.

“Father.” He said stiffly.

“I know much my son and I know you hate me.” Touga said grimacing.

“There is no hatred.” Sesshomaru stated coldly.

“There you are again cutting me off. I am not your hard hearted harpy mother!” the elder inu snapped.

“Neither am I Father.” Sesshomaru bristled.

“Hey dumbass! Where did ya run off to?” they heard Inuyasha yell.

“Inuyasha stay back!” Sesshomaru called.

“You are in my forest asshole! Did you see the size of that kumo? What the hell!” Inuyasha stated coming to a halt.

All of them stared at each other and Inuyasha's jaw dropped. He knew he must be seeing things but Tetsaiga began shaking as well as Tensaiga. The hanyou slowly stepped forward and stared at the Taisho.

“Inuyasha meet Lord Touga, the Inu no Taisho. Father meet your youngest son.” Sesshomaru said formally.

“Inuyasha.” Touga said quite softly.

“You're the old man?” Inuyasha said eyes wide open.

“Eloquent brother.” Sesshomaru said rolling his eyes.

“Hey asshole I have never met him okay with you?” Inuyasha retorted.

“Half breed!” Sesshomaru growled.

“Enough!” Touga snapped.

Both of his sons quieted and he had no idea what to do. Both sons had turned out as handsome creatures and they both were powerful.

“I am sorry that I did not live to see you raised my son. Sesshomaru we need to talk. Inuyasha, I would very much like to visit with as well.” Touga said looking between his two sons.

“Keh. Kagome is gonna flip!” Inuyasha said in a rather excited tone.

“Come Sesshomaru.” He commanded.

“Hanyou have you written the letter to the tsuchigumo lord yet?” Sesshomaru asked as he turned his amber eyes to his brother.

“Yeah yeah. I did that yesterday. So when are we gonna go after your brat?” he asked his elder brother.

“As soon as I finish my discourse.” Sesshomaru said flatly.

Inuyasha grunted as he watched his older brother follow his father away.

“So what is that all about Augusta?” he demanded.

“Old wounds Inuyasha. Sesshomaru did not have the best upbringing. I know it pales in comparison to your life but it is what it is.” She sighed.

“Natsumi?” Inuyasha asked his sister in law.

“Hai. She was poison.” Augusta said looking down.

“Good thing Asuna beheaded her.” Inuyasha said crossing his arms.

“Hai.” Augusta whispered.

Sesshomaru watched the elder inu and old anger ate away at his insides. The need to find his pup made him impatient and he snorted.

“Sesshomaru quit being impertinent!” Touga said as he turned.

“Father I know not what has brought you here but I need to find my daughter. This creature nearly killed her.” He said impatiently.

“Your General has been sent on ahead. I thought I should warn you that the Byakko had your mate.” Touga said bluntly.

“Chen.” Sesshomaru said darkly.

“Hai. She did not want to be there but I am sure something took place. I could not scent evidence of anything but your mate is a master of masking her scent.” He said.

Absolute hatred tore through Sesshomaru at the moment but his rational mind kept him calm on the outside. He knew in his gut that Augusta had a short liaison with the creature but he had excused it in the wake of their renewed relationship. Chen Hu had signed his own death sentence in his mind. He looked at his father and he stood stock still.

“Sesshomaru, whatever it was I did not do or have not done; I am sorry. I regret many things and not telling you how proud I am of you often is my biggest. I left you too much with that monster and I am sorry. I hated her to the point of wishing her death and I could not bring myself to do it because she was your mother.” Touga said staring at his eldest son.

“This Sesshomaru has no mother. She is dead at my pup's and your “sister's” hand. She used to tell me as a very young pup that you could not love me. I grew up thinking you hated me.” He stated unemotionally.

“That was never true! I could not reach you; Kamis I tried but it was too late. You already hated me!” Touga said defensively.

“I never hated you. I figured you thought me a disappointment since I favored her. I tried to emulate you to make you proud but you turned else where for everything. You never told me you had a sister, you never told me anything.” The younger inu said in his bored tone.

“You obviously know the story of Sorami and I. I failed her Sesshomaru, the same as I failed you. The Kamis gave me a second chance with my twin when they gave her to you as your daughter. I am hoping that maybe this is our second chance.” Touga said in a morose tone.

“Then assist me in saving my pup. You love her as your sister and she is my beloved daughter.” Sesshomaru stated bluntly.

“I would be honored.” He bowed to his son.

“Hn.” Sesshomaru muttered.

Augusta had heard the conversation and she was near panic mode. Her mate sensed her and he looked up. He moved to her and pulled her flush to his body.

“I forgive you but he will die by my hand.” He whispered fiercely in her ear.

“Sesshomaru do not go to war over me please!” she whispered back.

“Unmask your scent.” He commanded.

“Sesshomaru!” she said in slight fear.

“Do it!” he hissed.

She unmasked her scent and his eyes turned crimson. He remained calm and his mind was whirling.

“You will inform him of your state and also inform him that this Sesshomaru will raise this cub. You will inform him in my presence and he will have to face the fact he will never see you or this child ever!” he said in a horrendous growl.

“Sesshomaru.” She said in a small voice.

“I know Augusta. I have said you are forgiven. Do not allow this weakness again.” He said pulling away and stalking towards his brother.

She was shaken to her core and closed her eyes. She heard her mate growl for her and she moved to his side. He was blaming her very little and he intended to punish Chen in every means possible. She knew him and he could be the cruelest being there was when he chose.

“Port us to the West.” He said calmly.

“Hai.” She said in a small voice.

“Do not simper and cower Augusta. You are not your God but I expect more honor from you.” He whispered in her ear.

“Hai.” She said softly.

“Hn.” He muttered in response.

She ported the four of them to the West and she wanted to bury herself somewhere. She had caught a thought and Sesshomaru was planning all kinds of political torture for Chen. He had truly forgiven her and she felt miserable. Sesshomaru settled into his study and poured his sire some sake as well as his brother. His mind was working furiously. He needed a plan and he needed to find Asuna.

“Augusta, can you go and retrieve the tsuchigumo lord?” he asked her.

“Hai.” She said bowing.

“I will not tolerate you moping mate. What is done is done. You will improve your mood.” He commanded.

“Hai.” She muttered.

She ported away and the other two inu began discussing the retrieval of his daughter.

Augusta appeared at Sendai and she was surrounded by tsuchigumo. She was tired and in a very bad mood. She looked around for Ishin and the healer Nobu came up.

“Is your lord around?” she demanded.

“Hai but what is it you wish?” Nobu asked.

“Asuna has been taken and my mate thinks your lord can help.” She said honestly.

“I should be glad to find her.” Ishin said from the doorway.

“Come. Jing was injured pretty badly by her but he took her suddenly.” Augusta explained.

“Let us go now.” Ishin said grabbing his mate's mother.

“Sesshomaru wants you to come to the Western Palace.” She said softly.

“Now I can come I see. Well I shall because I love your daughter.” He snapped.

Ishin produced his venomous cloud and they ported to the Western Palace. He looked around then followed after the uppyr onna. She led him into the study and Ishin stopped dead in his tracks.

“I know you!” he said to Touga.

“I met you in Korea.” Touga replied.

“You are dead.” Ishin said stunned.

“Very good kumo. I am here assisting my sister.” Touga stated raising a silver brow.

Sesshomaru actually snorted softly in laughter and Ishin stared at the Western Lord in annoyance.

“Can you sense this Sesshomaru's heir?” he asked straight forwardly.

“Hai. I have held back the bond to give her space.” Ishin said thinly.

“Release it then.” Sesshomaru said standing.

Ishin concentrated and he was bombarded. He scowled and looked at the Western Lord.

“I have to go.” He said suddenly.

“You will take us with you.” Touga hissed.

Ishin produced his shoki cloud and disappeared into it. The three inu males looked furious and Augusta felt helpless.

Ishin was in a cavern and it was dank. He wished he could reach Naraku. He had shut down his bonds completely and it left him feeling totally alone. Asuna was hurt and he could feel it as if it were him, He knew she felt him again and she was rather loudly screaming in his head at the moment. He moved quickly and what he found sickened him. He almost lost his stomach and he changed form.

“You really think you were going to defeat me slut?” Lei asked me as he dragged a short dagger across my stomach.

I did not cry out but I was in pain. I had been cut in several places already and Lei seemed to be having a grand time. He had stripped me and chained after he had injured me with his shoki. I hurt in so many places I tried to put myself in a trance. He had stripped open my clothes and they had been bloodied. He cut me down my sternum and I bit my lip. He laved his tongue along the wound and I shuddered.

“You really do taste sweet. Where should I split you open?” he asked me.

“Rot!” I hissed.

“Well you are the one chained and on the receiving end of my blade. Shall I do something different?” he purred.

“Go to hell!” I screamed.

“How about this?” he said shoving the blade deeply into my lower abdomen.

I choked and he laughed cruelly. He brought the dagger to his lips and grinned as he licked it.

“No more puppy.” He snapped in my ear.

Tears poured from my eyes and I wished I could crawl into myself at the moment. He then brought the blade to my neck and licked my ear.

“Shall I draw this out or just end it now?” he said softly.

“Burn bastard!” I hissed.

I sensed Ishin and I rolled my eyes up. He was in his true form and he was on the ceiling. Jing had no idea here was there and I shut my mind down. Ishin wanted him further away from me with his blade. Jing made no moves to back away and Ishin tired of waiting. He changed form and released his silk and jerked Jing backwards. The wraith fell to the cavern floor and I saw Ishin's fan shaped blade appear. He began moving on Jing quickly and the wraith rolled. Ishin was beyond furious and Lei was losing strength. I felt Baku as well and he was suddenly behind me.

“Get him!” I hissed softly.

Baku saw my belly and his eyes flashed crimson.

“Move kumo!” Baku yelled.

Ishin ducked and Baku moved on Jing so fast it was dizzying. His hands began to glow an eerie purple and burnt flesh could be smelled. Lei shrieked and managed to disappear.

“No!!!” I screamed.

Ishin was behind me and Baku as well. Ishin held my hand and channeled my weakened yoki and the chains broke. I grabbed my stomach and slid down to the floor.

“My lady. Let me take you to Yasu.” Baku said softly.

“Asuna.” Ishin said leaning beside me.

“Baku, get every soldier and get to Mongolia. Lay waste to everything you find!” I screamed in agony.

“Hai. I will. Asuna.” He said pulling me into his arms.

Ishin's eyes were cold but he kept a hand on my arm.

“Inu you heard your lady. My healer is well versed in inu physiology.” Ishin said narrowing his eyes.

“Yasu will tend my lady.” Baku said through clenched teeth.

“Baku, Nobu can staunch this wound faster. Let Ishin take me to him.” I whispered.

“Hai. I shall decimate the wraiths. I will be back soon.” He said kissing my forehead.

I nodded and he held my hand a moment and kissed it.

“Asuna, I love you. I will make that creature pay.” He said bowing.

I nodded and he ported away. I broke down and Ishin gathered me into his arms and held me tightly. I cried and beat at his chest. Ishin ported us to Sendai via his shoki cloud. He laid me down on his futon and he stepped back. His clothing was covered in blood and I choked on my sobs. Ishin left quickly and returned with Nobu. He immediately began to work and I shut my eyes.

“Did he kill my pup?” I asked in a strained whisper.

“I am sorry Asuna.” Nobu said softly.

I shut my eyes and wished for the moment that Lei had just killed me. I wanted Naraku here and I shut out the pain.

“Fix me Nobu and be quick about it.” I snapped.

“What are you intending Asuna?” Ishin asked.

“I am going to kill him. I am going to find Naraku and I am getting my life back!” I screamed.

“You need to rest a day or two my lady.” Nobu stated firmly.

“I need that wraith dead!” I hissed.

“Asuna your general is going to go to Mongolia. I shall join him if you wish.” Ishin said brushing hair off my forehead.

“Hai. I will stay here but find him Ishin. Rip him limb from limb.” I said fiercely.

“Hai.” He said kissing me gently.

He pulled away and ported. I laid on my back and cried more.

“Shhh. Asuna, I am giving you something to help you sleep.” He said putting a sweet smelling liquid to my lips.

I drank the liquid and I closed my eyes tightly. I slipped into a drugged sleep.

Nobu watched over the sleeping inu and her brow was furrowed in her sleep. He sighed and stood. He moved to another room and was surprised to see the golden haired inu standing there.

“My brother is in a terrible fury. He wishes to know if she lost his pup.” Juuna said softly.

“Hai. The wraith cut into her womb. I am so sorry.” Nobu said inclining his head.

“I saw your lord join my brother. I hope they can become friends. They love the same onna.” Juuna stated.

“My lord is possessive.” Nobu said honestly.

“As is my brother.” She commented.

Nobu looked saddened and Juuna moved closer. She reached up and touched his face. He met her eyes and smiled a little.

“How is your old injury?” he asked.

“Should you like to see?” she asked him.

“Hai.” He nodded.

She smiled gently and followed him to his apothecary. She slipped her kimono off her left shoulder and he saw the skin had renewed itself quite well. She looked up at him and smiled.

“I thank you again for what you did.” She said slipping her kimono back in place.

“It was my pleasure. I am pleased the treatment worked so well.” He said inclining his head.

“You are so kind and to those not of your species.” She observed.

“The Kamis made us all. Most of us bleed red.” He shrugged.

Juuna stood on her toes and pressed her lips softly to his. He sighed gently and put his hands on her shoulders. He gently pushed her back and she smirked at him.

“You do not wish to be around me Lady Juuna. I have said I am a bore and I keep my nose buried in scrolls.” He said softly.

“Intelligent males make better lovers Nobu.” She said.

Nobu shook his head and Juuna stepped back. He watched as she slipped her obi off and threw it to his feet. He looked slightly surprised and then she dropped her kimono.

“Examine me then healer Nobu.” She whispered.

“My lady I.” he stammered as he took in her form.

“I do not bite that hard kumo.” She laughed lightly.

Nobu actually turned a light shade of pink as he perused her perfect form. He was as male as the next tsuchigumo but he tried to hold himself to a high standard. She was an unusual beauty and he released his breath he was holding.

“Are you the kind of tsuchigumo that I have to be violent to get your attention? You seem so much more refined then a mere act of violence.” She said very softly.

“I do not have the need to be knocked around.” He said biting his lip.

She pressed herself to him and he looked down into her turquoise eyes. She licked her lips and smiled up at him.

“I want you to touch me with your comforting hands.” She stated lifting a hand and kissing his fingertips.

Nobu watched her lips and was surprised at his reactions.

“Sense of touch is very important to you is it not?” she asked.

“Hai.” He breathed out.

She ran his finger tips over her skin lightly. He marveled at the softness of her flesh and felt himself reacting. He shifted uncomfortably as she then ran his fingers along her lips. Her tongue darted out and tasted those fingertips. Nobu shut his eyes at her exquisite torture. She sucked on one finger and swirled her tongue around the tip.

“Enough.” He whispered roughly.

“Hai.” She said softly.

She did not stop and sucked on his other fingers. She eyed him carefully and she felt his arousal and scented it as well.

“Why do you fight yourself?” she asked him as she lightly ran her claws over his palm.

“I do not know.” He moaned softly.

“Truly do wish me to stop?” she asked.

“No.” he managed.

“What does this feel like?” she murmured.

“Torture.” He rasped out.

“Bad?” she asked him.

“No.” he groaned as she ran her claws lightly up his wrist.

“I feel you. You are getting tight in your need.” She said softly.

“How?” he asked through his heady thoughts.

“I am an empath.” She stated as she loosened his obi.

She pushed his haori open and marveled at his beauty. She caught his eyes and she gave him a wicked grin.

“Whilst Lady Asuna rests I shall taste you. Smell and taste are very important to an inu.” She said then ran her tongue along his clavicle.

He pulled her roughly to him and he watched her lips. He crushed his mouth to hers and began kissing her deeply. She moaned against his mouth and he acted very unlike himself. Ishin would be proud he thought then lost all truly coherent thought as her tongue delved into his mouth. He lifted her up and she wrapped her legs around his waist. He was thankful his chambers adjoined his apothecary. He managed to slide the door open and then shut. He brought her to his futon and laid her down. He was loosing his mind and he never lost his mind. She loosened his hakamas and he felt her fingers lightly touch his turgid flesh. He groaned loudly and let loose her lips. She wrapped her warm hand around his length as she nipped along his neck.

“Should you like to bury your nose other than in a scroll?” she asked him wickedly.

“Hai.” He rasped.

Nobu tried to bring himself back from his lust crazed mind and found he could not. This onna was different from any other he had encountered. Her claws raked against his chest and further inflamed him. All he wanted at the moment was to be buried inside of her and not think at all. She shifted her hips and rubbed the head of his staff against her folds.

“Lady Juuna.” He managed.

“Quit thinking healer.” She purred in his ear.

He surrendered and thrust inside of her. He let loose a long moan and she arched her hips to meet his. He released himself and began a slow dance. Juuna released sift sighs as he filled her over and over. She had not been with anyone in almost a decade. She had been rather wild then and had taken down Prince Osamu himself. She flared her empathic yoki and he released a sharp breath. Nobu shut his eyes at the amazing feelings he was experiencing. He nuzzled her neck and began sucking on her pulse point. Her own yoki was pulling at his and he tried to fight it. He would lose himself totally in this onna if he let it happen. She flared her power again and a soulful moan was ripped from him. He always could think clearly and now he was mindless and his inner nature threatened to consume him.

“Pull back please.” He begged her.

“No.” she moaned softly.

He thrust more sharply and she took her fingers and began to pleasure herself. Not pleased in the least he moved her fingers and began massaging her nub. She bucked her hips in response and bit his lip in response. She gripped him so tightly he was closing in on his own release. He mindlessly scratched near her nub and she released a throaty moan as his venom inflamed her center.

“Nobu? Oh Kamis what did you do?” she moaned out.

“Shhh.” He murmured.

She met his movements in perfect time and they both were consumed with the feelings. Her yoki flared exponentially and he laid his forehead against her shoulder and shouted out. He felt everything and his own mind brushed hers. He felt her body taking his in and his whole being. Her walls clutched him tightly as her body released and she moaned out his name as she pressed her flesh against his. Such an incredible purity filled him and he cried out as he released. He held himself rigid as his whole soul was shattered it seemed. He tried to catch his breath and his obsidian eyes met hers. Juuna's had long changed and she claimed his mouth eagerly. Slowly his breathing slowed to normal and he collapsed against her. She gave him a lazy smile and he returned it.

“You should do that more often healer.” She mumbled.

“What was that?” he asked softly.

“Apparently the northern inu of old thought to mate with miko.” She explained.

“A youki with spiritual powers?” he asked in wonder.

“Hai. You have not met Lady Akemi. She is half miko. She can purify.” She sighed as she settled next to him.

“I must admit I am smitten.” He murmured in her ear.

“Hai I am too. Alas I need to tell Baku. He will be in a fury.” She sighed.

“I am sorry. There was nothing I could do.” He stated sadly.

“I shall find you again healer Nobu. You are still a challenge.” She smiled.

“Let me get your clothes.” He said standing and righting his own attire.

He slipped back into his apothecary and retrieved her silks. The material was heavy and expensive. She must come from a very noble family he surmised. He returned and his breath caught as she stretched and her curves were on display. He pushed his thoughts aside and handed her the kimono.

“I need to check on Lady Asuna.” He replied.

“Hai. I promise I shall see you as soon as I can.” She stood and dressed.

He bowed and slipped away. He did not like to couple without feeling usually as he had lost his mate long ago. Ishin had not even known and he did not share that particular pain. He went to Ishin's chambers and found the inu princess awake and staring at the ceiling. He came and sat by her and she looked at him and smiled weakly.

“About time.” I murmured.

“Huh?” he replied dumbly.

“I can scent Lady Juuna. It is about time. She has been lusting after you for awhile now. When can I return to find Jing?” I asked softly.

“Soon. You are healing nicely.” He stated.

“Careful of Juuna. Her type of inu can make you fall hard.” I said rising.

“I do not lose my heart easily my lady. Ishin has always been of a more emotional nature.” He replied standing.

“You were mated before?” I asked gently.

“Long ago. It is no matter.” He said smiling.

“No wonder you rebuff. What happened?” I asked raising a brow.

“Her name was Ine. She was not tsuchigumo.” He said looking down.

“How?” I asked saddened.

“She died giving birth to my son. I could not save them.” He said in such a soft voice.

“She was ningen was she not?” I asked him as gently as I could.

“Hai.” He stated.

“I am so sorry Nobu.” I lamented.

“I am sorry for you as well.” He said sitting again by me.

“Can I still have more?” I asked him tightly.

“Hai. Your body has amazing regenerative abilities.” He said patting my hand.

“Thank you.” I stated.

“Rest now.” Nobu commanded.

“Hai.” I said lying on my side.

“Naraku will return Asuna. He has been flitting back and forth.” He told me.

“I miss him.” I said in a wretched tone.

“Hisashi will return to Sorami.” He murmured.

I smiled and he left me to rest. Silent tears fell from my eyes and I let them. My heart was filled with such hatred at the moment that I would kill relentlessly.

He was weary and exhausted. He had engaged Jing only twice and the bastard had escaped him. He had managed to lay waste to many wraiths as well. He decided to return to Sendai and rest for a day or two. He felt empty and alone as he had to shut down his dead bond with his soul mate. The horrific pain was worse than the Bakusaiga had been. He slipped into the castle and the instant he did he felt a familiar aura. He moved swiftly not believing his senses when he saw Asuna lying prone on Ishin's futon. She was breathing deeply and her mind was humming. He moved closer and touched her arm. She did not awaken as he could smell medicinal herbs. He the mighty Naraku could not breathe at the moment as emotion overwhelmed him. She was here and she was alive. He touched her cheek and wanted to shake her awake. He eased open their bond and a single tear slipped down his own cheek. Her eyes flew open and she gasped.

“Naraku?” I whispered.

“Hai.” He whispered.

“Kamis Naraku!” I cried out.

I sat up and he pulled me to him into a tight embrace. Tears again flooded my face and I buried my nose into his juncture. We stayed that way for several minutes.

“How long have you been awake?” he asked me in despair.

“Over a month.” I stated softly into his ear.

“Kamis! A month? Forgive me! Please forgive me.” He almost begged.

“I know why you did what you did. You were trying to avenge me. There is nothing to forgive my heart. I know the pain and I understand the need to shut down the bond.” I stated holding his face.

“I love you. Kamis I have been dead inside.” He said in a desolate tone.

“Hai.” I murmured.

“I love you.” He repeated again.

I moved my lips against his and he groaned heavily. He pressed his forehead to mine and I felt and heard everything he wanted to say. He was emotionally overwhelmed and trying to keep himself from flooding me. My hands were very shaky as I placed my palms against his chest. Our lips touched lightly and tentatively; it was gentle and felt like a phantom caress. I felt whole as I only could with him. I had not realized when I had appeared to him in the century past but we only felt complete in the other's presence. Coming so close to losing each other again was hard to endure.

“I will not lose you again, I cannot.” He murmured in an almost heartbroken tone.

“We can endure.” I whispered against his cheek.

He pushed me back gently and his wavy ebony hair fell around us. Our eyes were gazing steadily at the other and my hands began undoing his haori. He pushed himself into a sitting position and pulled off the white haori and kosode. I sat up as well and pulled the tunic over my head. He pressed me back again and made no moves to take me but to just feel my skin. He brushed his lips against my brow as I ran my hands down his back. He breathed softly against my skin and I just touched him. He brushed his mind against mine and I opened to him fully. I hid nothing from him as he hid nothing from me. His fingertips lightly brushed along my jaw as I experienced his memories. I sat up and pushed him back. He had been killing wraiths without mercy and with cruelty. He actually hated them more then he could ever dislike my sire and uncle. I took his hands and closed my eyes. I was feeling him along my whole being and peace settled upon me.

“My self…my heart.” He murmured.

He pulled me into his arms and held on as if for dear life. He tucked my head under his chin and we stayed there unmoving. What was torn had been repaired and what had been two now was one.

Word had been sent that Asuna had been recovered and Baku was after the wraith leader. Touga had decided to aid his general and Sesshomaru had intended to join them soon. Augusta was by his side and he had sent a messenger to the Byakko. He was meeting Chen in Hong Kong and his claws itched. He decided to not kill the tiger but he would maim him. He wanted the feline alive and to suffer with the knowledge that he would raise his offspring. Augusta was nervous and he put a comforting hand on her shoulder.

“Mate! Stop pacing. You belong to me and the tiger will know this.” He growled softly.

“I am sorry Sesshomaru. I should have fought harder. I did not want this.” She said with downcast eyes.

“You suppress your very nature and that is why I do not hold this against you. If you were an inu bitch I would have killed you.” He said flatly.

She stared at him and shuddered. He was angry but taking out his fury on Chen. The Western Lord sensed the Byakko at a distance and a malicious smirk crossed his lips. Chen came forward but stood a good distance away. He was furious himself and Augusta refused to look at him.

“This Sesshomaru thought it prudent to inform you that you begot my mate with your progeny.” He said in an icy tone.

“I did more than that.” Chen snapped.

“You are a fellow lord so I will make this easy for you. I will not go to war unless you start it. Augusta will also be having this cub and it will call me sire.” Sesshomaru stated with a cold smirk playing upon his lips.

“How dare you!” Chen snarled.

“Did you expect me to kill a young one? No, it is part of our beloved mate and therefore will be raised in the House of the Moon. The babe will be taught of the Byakko's treachery and how they were cast aside.” Sesshomaru stated putting a hand on the Bakusaiga.

“You cast aside your mate when she needed you most! How dare you preach and call her your beloved when you would have let her die by her own hand!” Chen hissed.

“You had no right to interfere.” The great inu growled.

“I was brought into it by her sister who cannot stand you by the way.” Chen said in a nasty tone.

“Lord Chen stop!” Augusta snapped.

“Where was he when you begged to die?” Chen snarled.

“It is past.” Sesshomaru stated.

“Arrogant ass! How dare you cast her aside then decide she is worth it! Your daughter made a decision that you had to exact much from. You now keep my grandson from his father and you dare pass your righteous judgment on me? I would never turn my back on a mate as you did. You are not worthy of her inu!” Chen said stepping forward.

“Chen no! Back off!” Augusta said fiercely.

“No! Another inu will not keep a Byakko from their offspring. You can delude yourself Augusta but that cub in your belly is mine.” Chen stated in a snarl.

Sesshomaru drew his fang and he grabbed his mate and shoved her behind him. She was visibly stricken but she saw Chen raise his own weapon. The Killing Perfection moved with incredible speed and struck the feline's blade. Augusta was sick to her stomach and watched as the two males she cared deeply for strike again and again. Chen released his shoki into his blade and struck the inu in the arm. Sesshomaru said nothing and fury consumed him. He pulled back and released the Dragon Strike, fear gripped her and she threw Chen with her mind. She saw it was not enough and she threw herself between byakko and inu. Sesshomaru yelled and she collapsed to the ground. Terror gripped him and he went to his mate's side. Chen tried to near and Sesshomaru snarled at him. She was battered horribly and bleeding.

“Augusta why?” he demanded.

“I am not worth this fight.” She breathed roughly.

“I decide that. I swear Byakko if you make another step it will be your last!” he snarled in a fury.

“Augusta!” Chen yelled.

She rolled toward her mate and ignored Chen's calling in her mind. She was hurting terribly and she let the tears fall. Sesshomaru gathered her to him and she pulled his arm to her and bit in. She drew the shoki out and he looked down at her tenderly. She released his arm and snuggled to him.

“She has made her choice Byakko! Never attempt to see her again or I will kill you in the most painful way possible.” Sesshomaru said in a terrible tone.

“She saved me as well inu.” Chen retorted.

Augusta closed down her mind and felt a terrible void. Chen winced and watched her carefully. He produced his shoki mist and ported away. She had made the hardest decision of her life and she knew she had ended the life within her. Hatred consumed her but she could not make Sesshomaru go through with what he had intended.

“Augusta what did you do?” he asked softly.

“The right thing. Forgive me, Kamis forgive me.” She wept.

“Augusta! I did not want it this way. I told you I forgave you. You did not have to do this.” He said as he wiped blood from her brow.

“You do not deserve such treatment. I understand if you cast me out.” She stated in a hoarse whisper.

“No I will not. Do you love me?” he asked her gently.

“More than my wretched life.” She replied choking.

“This is partly my fault. I treated you ill after your attempt. You were vulnerable and I understand that. He can love you and be damned. You are mine and you have been mine the moment you attacked me over a century ago. You are as to me as the wretched beast is to Asuna.” He said softly.

Her eyes clouded over in emotion and she pulled on her yoki to port them home. She needed Yasu as she hurt terribly. He slowly rose and looked down at her lovingly.

“I told you before to never try and take yourself from me again.” He said quietly.

She nodded and self hatred consumed her. Her mate slipped away and got Yasu. She had survived her mate's yoki by throwing up a barrier at the last moment. She hoped by doing this that Chen would abandon his feelings. Yasu looked her over and cleaned the wounds.

“You are still very pregnant my lady.” Yasu said softly.

“What?” she stated in shock.

“Hai.” Yasu nodded.

“Do as you need to rid me of it Yasu.” She stated as she wept.

“No!” Sesshomaru growled coming up from behind.

“Sesshomaru please! Let me do this. I will not let you do this!” she cried.

“I choose what I will Augusta. You will not and that is final. This babe is part of you and I will not have it gotten rid of. That creature did no better than rape you in my mind. This is my progeny; if it comes from your womb then it belongs to me. Enough said!” he hissed.

“Hai my lord.” She said closing her eyes.

“Yasu will she be alright?” he asked.

“Hai my lord. The babe is alright as well.” He replied gently.

“Does she require the sutures?” Sesshomaru asked bluntly.

“Hai. She will always need them if she carries.” Yasu answered.

“Do as you need. Can she be on her feet?” the Western Lord asked.

“Hai. For now my lord.” Yasu bowed.

“Augusta. I need you well as I need you as regent. I shall return shortly and take you to the hot spring. You are mine and I will always be by your side.” He said taking her hand.

“I do not deserve you.” She said bitterly.

“Nonsense.” He said shaking his head.

He rose and he was happy that the cub had survived. He would make sure that the birth would be leaked to Hunan. He knew Augusta cared for the tiger but it was nothing in comparison to their relationship. He had and did forgive her. He stood and left to see to details before he joined his sire and Baku.

Baku was devastated and cursed himself for having not been more careful. She should not have been pupped and she should not have to have suffered losing yet another. The Taisho watched him as they were scenting the air. He was unnerved to see the former Western Lord at all. The greatness rolled off of him in waves and it humbled Baku. The tsuchigumo had moved on but they were all tracking the same creature. Lord Sesshomaru had asked him to come and bring him to Mongolia as well within the day and he looked around. His lord wielded two tremendously powerful weapons and he knew without a doubt that Lord Sesshomaru could defeat the wraith. He bowed to Lord Touga and sheathed his katana.

“My lord I am going to retrieve your son.” He said softly.

“I understand. I shall remain here for the time being.” Touga remarked.

Baku nodded and braced himself. He ported to the West and the sickness gripped him for a moment. He did not think he would ever get used to the feeling. He went to the lord's study and knocked. He heard come in and he did. He bowed before Lord Sesshomaru and waited. The inu lord was dressed in full armor and wore all three of his infamous blades. He stood and nodded. He barely touched the elder inu's forearm and ported them both back to Mongolia. Touga looked up and nodded to his son. Sesshomaru bowed before his sire and began scenting the air.

“Father please take the Tensaiga as it does damage to these creatures.” Sesshomaru said unsheathing his father's fang and handing it to him.

“Hai.” He said taking the fang.

Baku watched and again marveled at the Taisho and his son. The three inu moved along not knowing that another shadowed them. Ang Chi kept himself down wind and masked as he followed his jii-chan and the other two inu. He had heard that the other silver inu was the Inu no Taisho himself and he was awe struck. He intended to kill his uncle and end this drama once and for all. He could sense his blood relatives fairly close by and they were corporeal at the moment. He moved away from the older inu and followed his senses till he reached a large dwelling in a clearing. He moved stealthily as he approached. He heard shouting and he moved forward cautiously.

“You are a fool Brother! You have brought the whole damn islands down upon us!” Renshu yelled.

“Shut up! She killed Bai or have you forgotten? She took our nephew and is raising him as a damn dog! She has nearly killed me several times!” Lei hissed.

“I could not give one damn about Bai. She was unbalanced as it was and turned her back on us. Why you worship the ground she walked on is beyond me!” Renshu snapped.

“She was my sister! She was our leader at one time and you shut up!” Lei said in a fierce tone.

Ang Chi moved and slipped into the dwelling. He moved to the room the two wraith males were in and he watched. He noticed Lei looking around and he could scent the stink of his mother's toxin. Ang Chi smirked that the bastard was still wounded.

“He is here!” Lei said excited.

“Who?” Renshu asked in annoyance.

“Feel it Brother! I know you are here Ang Chi. You might as well come out.” Lei said in a delighted tone.

Ang Chi emerged and had a scowl on his face. He stared at his birth uncle and was disgusted.

“You raped my mother!” he growled.

“I raped you mother's murderer.” Lei snapped.

“I hate you! I wish you were dead.” Ang Chi said in a low snarl.

“Good feel something besides loyalty to that whore!” Lei laughed.

Renshu looked conflicted. Ang Chi was so young and Lei was a supreme idiot in his opinion. The boy rushed Lei and grabbed his throat. Lei snickered in delight and began wrestling the boy.

“I will kill you!” Ang Chi screamed.

“Right! A boy your age is going to kill me. You are delightful!” Lei laughed merrily.

Ang Chi's claws began to glow a navy blue hue and he shoved his claws into Lei's neck. The older wraith shrieked and shoved him back. His skin felt as though it was on fire. He morphed his limb and pointed it to Ang Chi's chest.

“I do not want to kill you but I will!” Lei threatened.

Ang Chi smirked and crossed his arms. Lei looked confused at the boy.

“I am in here jii-chan!” Ang Chi yelled.

Renshu looked horrified and went to Lei and tried to pull his back into a mist. Lei refused and saw three beautiful inu males come in. Renshu rolled his eyes at his brother's lustful nature.

“Lei now!” Renshu yelled.

“So the whore looks like daddy.” Lei smirked.

Ang Chi moved so quickly it shocked all. He took Tensaiga from Touga and shoved it through Lei's side. The wraith looked at his nephew horrified and allowed Renshu to pull him. Ang Chi threw the fang and followed into the mist. Baku yelled and Sesshomaru growled as he watched his oldest grandson disappear.

“What just happened?” Touga asked in shock.

“Ang Chi is half wraith.” Sesshomaru said unemotionally.

“My lord we have to find him.” Baku said softly.

“I agree. He is the Lord of Manchuria and Asuna's son.” Sesshomaru nodded.

Baku's mind was spinning. The young inu was braver than most pups he had ever seen but he had followed after the very creature that tried to kill Asuna. She was going to be in a deadly fury. He took both of the older inu's arms and ported them to the West. They looked surprised and Baku bowed as the nausea left him.

“We need something that can track a wraith my lords and I am certain Lady Asuna knows an uppyr who can.” He said explaining.

“You know where she is?” Sesshomaru asked.

“Hai. She is in Sendai. The tsuchigumo healer was caring for her. The wraith killed my pup.” Baku said bitterly.

“I am grieved for you general.” His lord stated.

“I will have my revenge my lord.” Baku bowed again.

He slipped away from Touga and Sesshomaru as he prepared himself for another porting session. He made it to the tsuchigumo castle in Sendai and waited as the female kumo named Aya appeared.

“You are here for Lady Asuna?” she asked.

“Hai. Is she better?” Baku asked.

“Hai. She is putting on armor now. She says something is wrong.” Aya said.

“Hai.” Baku nodded.

Aya openly admired the inu and he was looking down.

“Did you find the wraith?” she asked him.

“Hai. He was injured again.” He answered her.

I walked into the room and saw Baku. He bowed to me and I smiled wanly at him. Naraku had departed to find Ishin. He swore he was going to trail my sire if need be. I could not put my finger on it but something was unnerving me at the moment. Baku looked me in the eye and he opened his mind.

“Not Ang Chi! How in the hell!” I snapped.

“I am sorry. We came upon him and the wraith. He stabbed him with the Tensaiga and he followed after him in an attempt to kill him.” Baku explained.

“Why was he not being watched?” I demanded.

“Asuna he is an older pup and quite determined.” Baku pointed out.

“But still a pup nonetheless!” I shouted.

“Again I am sorry. I understand why you are angry but yelling will not retrieve him.” He replied calmly.

I grabbed Baku and ported to the West. I walked into my sire's study and bowed to him and my grandsire-brother. My mind was working a mile a minute and I realized that I did indeed need the incubus Sebastein. I had left Shanghai so suddenly that I had paid Eyal and the incubus no mind. I sighed and looked down.

“I shall find a way to get into this void and go to the other side of it, wherever that may be.” I said bluntly.

“What do you wish sister?” Touga asked.

“I want to systematically decimate the wraith as a union. I want them scattered and no organized leader. I know they go from Mongolia to Siberia and into Russia. I am finding the uppyr I know that can see these creatures in their true forms. Father can you coordinate an attack from Bulgan? Touga can you assist him?” I asked.

“Hai.” They said in unison.

“Baku please come with me and Geming will be at your disposal.” I said to my sire and past brother.

I bowed to all and I grabbed my mate's hand and ported us to France and the city of Paris. I went to the cemetery that the incubus had brought me to. I whirled around and he was sitting on a grave stone with a very licentious grin on his face. I narrowed my eyes and he was against me in a heartbeat.

“You look good enough to eat. Who is the boy dog?” Sebastein asked amused.

“Get off of me!” I snapped pushing me back.

Baku began growling and the incubus looked amused. He smiled at Baku and circled us.

“I need your help. My son followed after the wraith.” I said softly.

“You need me to see their real forms.” He stated.

“Yes please.” I asked him in Latin.

“Since you ask so nicely. Down boy dog! She will not let me eat her.” Sebastein said laughing.

“Shut your disgusting mouth uppyr!” Baku hissed.

“Okay! Okay! Goodness you puppy types are very sensitive.” He laughed.

I growled softly and Sebastein ran his hand up my arm and I took Baku's hand. I ported us to Mongolia and jerked away from the incubus.

“This is my mate uppyr! I suggest you back off!” Baku snarled.

“Sure. There are wraiths all around by the way. I do not think I have seen this many ever.” Sebastein stated amazed.

“Are they aware of us?” I asked curiously.

“Yes and no. Yes they know we are here and no they just do not care.” He answered.

“Hn.” I replied.

“Where do we begin?” I asked Sebastein.

“I grab one and ask.” He said smiling.

He walked away from me and suddenly a wraith appeared with the incubus dragging him. The young wraith struggled and looked terrified.

“Where can I find the Jing clan?” I demanded.

“Erdenet! Since Hadasan fell they have a home in Erdenet! Please I have done nothing!” the wraith cried.

I nodded and Sebastein let the creature go. I needed a map and I ported us to Shanghai. I opened my mind to Naraku and the connection was wide open and I pathed the city of Erdenet to him. He warmed to my thoughts and I was flooded with such passion that Baku looked up and he actually blushed. I smiled at him and he smiled widely. I looked at the map of Mongolia and I took Sebastein and Baku back to Mongolia. We were in the city and the incubus looked around.

“Good God they are all over the place!” he muttered in disgust.

“Concentrate and see if you can sense a tremendously powerful aura.” I said.

He closed his eyes and I sensed Naraku. I turned and saw my ebony haired mate. I warmed at the sight of him and he came to me and hugged me tightly. He turned to Baku and nodded and my general did the same. Sebastein looked at Naraku and smirked. He glared at the incubus and growled. Sebastein put his hands up and smiled.

“I believe over in that dwelling is the wraiths you want.” He said in a sarcastic way.

I nodded and I masked us all heavily. Naraku looked at Baku closely and it seemed as though he was sizing him up. Baku looked at him curiously and the two males seemed curious.

“Are you two quite done?” I asked softly.

“Hai.” Baku murmured.

Naraku said nothing and we moved along. I looked at the massive palace like structure from the distance and it seemed like Lei. I moved forward and Naraku slipped away. He intended to come upon Lei in surprise. We moved quietly and came upon the palace and saw gibbons everywhere. I wrinkled my nose at the sight of the foul beasts. Things began happening quickly and the shrieks of the wraiths could be heard. I looked surprised and I knew Naraku had found his prey. I grabbed Baku and I concentrated on Naraku's aura; we ported to his side and I smirked when I saw he had Lei and Renshu pierced with his bony appendages. I sensed Ishin as well and I knew that Naraku had been in contact with him. I turned and smiled at him and he at me. Lei looked as though he was in agony and I spread my senses to see if I could find Ang Chi. I sensed him and I appeared at his side. He had been brutally beaten but he was alive.

“Mother!” he cried.

“That was a very foolish thing of you to do! Very brave but foolish!” I admonished him.

“I will not apologize! I am sick of this creature hurting you and in a sense me.” He snapped.

“Hold your tongue.” I commanded.

“Hai.” He murmured as I helped him up and broke his shackles.

I helped him along and ported back to the main room. I watched in satisfaction as Lei was growling and I could scent his fear. I moved forward and stared down at him in hatred.

“It is over Lei.” I said smirking in triumph.

“It is because you say it is? You know what I did to your whore here Naraku?” Lei asked him in an arrogant tone.

My mate growled fiercely and Lei smiled.

“She did not tell you that I plundered her and it was sweet. It was almost as good as you would have been,” Lei said in a sneer.

Naraku moved so swiftly and grabbed my fang. He plunged it into Lei and pulled so forcefully on my yoki that I fell to my knees. Lei never stood a chance and he was melted away in the furious expulsion of power. Naraku turned to Renshu and I forced myself to stand.

“No. He is not responsible Naraku.” I said flatly.

“He is related to that creature!” he hissed.

“Release him.” I asked nicely.

He growled and released Renshu. The wraith stared at me in fear and in hatred.

“I do not hold you responsible for your brother's actions but I swear if you come for revenge then you will die and it will be heinous.” I stated.

He said nothing and Naraku was still quite angry. I turned to him and he handed me the Kumosaiga. Ishin looked quite impressed and such relief flooded me that I was reeling. I watched Ishin port away and Naraku stood there stubbornly.

“I need to go to the Western Palace. I shall join you in Sendai within the day.” I murmured.

“No. You Baku! We talk now.” Naraku stated staring at my general.

“Hai?” Baku stated raising his chin.

“You are in our fold. You are apart of us.” He said bluntly.

Baku stared at him in confusion and Naraku chuckled.

“Come to Sendai General Baku. We need to talk.” Naraku said in a lighter tone.

“Hai.” Baku nodded.

“Go send your brother home Asuna and bring Zihao to us. If the tigers think to take him they shall have to deal with Ishin and I.” he said kissing my forehead.

“Hai.” I nodded.

“Baku come with me my friend.” Naraku commanded.

“Okay.” My general said looking at me.

I nodded and smiled. I looked around and Renshu still said nothing. I held onto Ang Chi and ported us to the West. I went to Yasu's infirmary and grabbed him to attend Ang Chi. I left my son to him and went to my sire's study. I stepped in and Touga was laughing heartily. Inuyasha was there and my sire looked very relaxed.

“Your mother stated you were in a jubilant mood. I am assuming the wraith is dead.” My father said.

“He is dead. Naraku decimated him.” I said inclining my head.

“Hn.” He responded.

“Asshole.” My uncle muttered.

“Thank you both for the kind words. He did rid me of a hated enemy.” I said rolling my eyes.

“Pay them no mind sister. We are all in a rather inebriated state.” Touga said.

I looked surprised and my father did seem very relaxed. I smirked at him and he nodded to me. I walked forward and picked up a sake cup and motioned for some. My sire poured me a little and I downed it. I looked around at the Taisho and his sons. I knew they needed this; they all did. My uncle seemed in heaven at the moment and it would sadden him when his sire had to return. My sire stood and motioned for me to follow him. I bowed to my uncle and Touga and followed my father. We walked silently for a moment and he looked at me.

“I am glad the wraith is dead. Do you still wish to move against them?” he asked me.

“Hai. I want them scattered. What is wrong my lord?” I asked him gently.

“Chen got your mother pregnant. I am keeping the cub as my own. I have a feeling that things with Hunan will continue to detiorate.” He stated softly.

“That would be a good assumption. Quon is most hateful now.” I said looking away.

“I am sorry for his opinions Daughter. I do not understand the psyche of the tigers at all.” He said in his baritone.

“I give up as well. I thought I knew Quon but I guess I did not. I need to take your sire back soon.” I said sighing.

“It has been good to see him. A shock but good.” He remarked.

“Is Mother alright?” I asked him.

“She thinks I cannot forgive her.” He stated.

“Chen pursued her I am sure.” I said shaking my head.

“He will never see her again or I will kill him.” My father said rather fiercely.

“He will try and come for his offspring.” I said.

“Then he will die.” He stated growling.

“So be it.” I nodded.

“I should like for Inuyasha to visit with my sire awhile longer. I have not seen the half breed this happy since he mated the miko.” My father said.

“Hai. I think I shall take a nap. Ang Chi is recovering.” I said hugging my father.

He hugged me and I stepped away from him. The idea that Quon hated me tore me up still but I accepted it. I made it to my chambers that had been mine in the past. I looked around and closed my eyes. Hopefully my association with the Jing clan was over and I would never have to deal with another of the Steppe Wraiths again. I still intended to scatter them but the major threat was over. The Ming were defeated as well. Technically the Wanli Emperor was still in power but he answered to me. I fell upon my futon and pondered at the very great payments that had been exacted for all these accomplishments. I had made Ang Chi the undisputed master of China in the very near future. I wished for sleep but it was not coming. I ported to He Gang and went to Tekeshi's shrine. I sat by it and closed my eyes and said a prayer.

“We are one step closer to what we wanted. Ang Chi will be the most powerful inu lord besides my sire. Hana is growing and she is beautiful. She is so sweet like her chichi. I miss you every day.” I said standing.

“You and me both.” I heard a voice say.

I turned and saw Geming in the doorway of the shrine.

“What are you doing here General Geming?” I asked him.

“Visiting his shrine, the same as you.” He replied.

“He would be very pleased at the turn of events.” I said bowing my head.

“He would be pleased. I am honored to serve his lady.” Geming stated gently.

“Thank you Geming. Please stay and commune.” I said stepping away.

He gently pulled me to him and stared down at me. My eyes met his and he lowered his lips to my cheek. I was surprised and he released me.

“I shall know you Lady Asuna. I shall bide my time.” He smiled down at me.

I did not know what to say and he turned and walked away. The only obstacle I saw now was the Byakko and I was sure that they could be handled. I ported to Sendai and tentatively poked my head into the gathering room. Ishin and Karu were there and I smiled at them.

“Hello Karu.” I smiled.

“Hello Lady Asuna.” He bowed his head.

“Hello Lord Ishin.” I said softly.

“Lady Asuna.” He stated staring up at me.

“You know you wish to hug her father.” Karu said

“Hai I do.” Ishin said standing.

He pulled me to him and crushed me in his arms. He held onto me when Naraku came into the room.

“Well there you are.” He said with a soft smile.

“Hello!” I grinned at him.

Ishin released me and kissed me quickly. Naraku took my hand and I walked with him. He was still bothered by something and I brushed his mind. He turned his mahogany gaze to me and looked at me deeply.

“I hate what Lei did to you. I hate that I was unable to stop it. I have failed you over and over.” He said in a morose tone.

“What Lei did to me was try and take my dignity. I am angry over it but I am doing well. You have not failed me at all. How can you even think that?” I asked him gently.

“You fell and nearly left me again.” He said holding my shoulders.

“I survived.” I stated touching his cheek.

“I have thanked Baku over and over.” He murmured.

“What did you say to him?” I asked curiously.

“I told him I welcome his friendship and his love for you.” He shrugged.

“Why would you do that?” I asked surprised.

“Why not? You are not a common onna anymore than I am a common youki. Did you not say we make our own future?” he said lifting my chin.

“Hai.” I answered as I wrapped my arms around him.

“When will you bring Zihao here?” he asked.

“Soon. Touga wishes to stay a little longer. There seems to be a sort of healing between my sire and his chichi. Shall I bring the pups?” I asked him.

“Hai! I have missed them so much.” He replied.

“I shall be right back.” I whispered in his ear.

I ported to the West and I first went to the south palace complex. I went to Baku's study and he was reading a book.

“Hello.” I said from the doorway.

He looked up and smiled warmly. I raised a brow and he stood slowly.

“What are you thinking?” I asked him.

“I am thinking how much I love you.” He said coming closer.

“About Naraku…” I started to say.

“I can handle this. I love you and that means I accept this. I will not accept the tiger but Naraku I can accept. He tried to explain the tsuchigumo thing and frankly I was bored. Something about the family.” He shrugged.

“I understand what he was saying. You have earned his respect and gratitude. That is a hard thing to attain with him. Mayu had it without question.” I said smirking.

“Then I am in good company.” He said holding me close.

“Your sister is interested in Nobu, the tsuchigumo healer.” I stated softly.

“Truly? It does not surprise me. She likes to try and get the attentions of males who are coveted by other onna.” He said smiling.

“Nobu is a good sort of youki.” I said looking at him.

“I am sure he is. Juuna is not ordinary but she is not purposely cruel.” He said as he held me.

“I am going to get Mizuki, Nori, and Ken'ichi and take them to Naraku. He misses his pups.” I said gently pulling away.

“Ken'ichi calls him chichi?” he asked surprised.

“Hai. The younger twins will not separate. Nori calls his father chichi and so does his twin.” I shrugged.

“That is something. I shall see you soon. He has stated I am welcome in Sendai at any time but I think you need some time with them.” He said kissing my forehead.

“I love very much Baku.” I whispered.

“I know. I love you more.” He teased.

“See you soon.” I said bowing and then turned on my heel.

I went to the nursery and my pups gathered around me. I hugged them and kissed them. It was Sheng's time with the older twins and Hana. I went and checked on Ang Chi and he was resting comfortably.

“I am taking your younger siblings to Naraku. When you are feeling a little better join me in Sendai and then you need to return to Manchuria as you have duties that need attending.” I said kindly.

“Hai.” He sighed.

I smiled at him and I had the twins; one in each arm and Mizuki followed me.

“Mizuki port to chichi.” I commanded.

“Hai.” She said then did as I said.

I followed behind her and appeared with the boys. Mizuki was dragging Naraku along by the hand and he smiled. It struck me how much he had changed from the hanyou he had once been.

“Thank you.” He remarked as he past.

“Hey Mizuki! Catch me if you can!” Karu yelled from the hallway.

Mizuki took off after the elder youngling and the Sendai castle proceeded to become chaos. Ishin stood watching and he smiled. I could feel his regret at the loss of our daughter and I looked away.

“Come little men. Are you two hungry?” Naraku asked his sons.

“Hai!” the boys said in unison.

“Then let us hunt.” He replied.

They followed after him and I stood in front of Ishin alone.

“This castle will probably be wrecked.” I said with a wan smile.

“Probably but it is good to see the young ones here.” He stated nearing me.

“I wish I could have given you our daughter.” I said in a dejected voice.

“I wish it too but things happen. It seems I am destined to have my one son. I am alright with that.” He said looking past me.

“You think I would not try and give you another?” I asked him.

“I think it is something that we should not worry on.” He sighed.

“Ishin, I wanted her! You know that right?” I asked him.

“You did not at first.” He said in a tired voice.

“I wanted her. I wanted her badly.” I said in a raw tone.

“Asuna let us just let it go. I wish to move on.” He said also in a raw voice.

“You have not grieved properly.” I said touching his arm.

“It matters not Asuna. That beast caused you to lose two babes. I for one am not a glutton for punishment. Enough is enough.” He stated walking past me.

“Ishin stop Kamis damn it!” I demanded.

“Inu quit commanding me in my own castle.” He snapped.

“Ishin!” I yelled.

He turned and stared at me. Regret and pain washed through me. Somehow I felt less then Akane yet again. She had managed to give him Karu and I had managed to loose our daughter.

“I do not compare you to her!” Ishin snapped.

“Hai you do and do not really know it. I am not Akane Ishin. I am not a damn goddess. I failed and I shall live with that knowledge forever. Where is Akane's shrine?” I demanded.

“In Vietnam, I have three palaces there. One I inherited from her. The Red Palace is where her shrine is.” He said sighing.

“I see. Well I shall endeavor to beg her forgiveness.” I stated in anguish.

“Stop it! She is not your enemy and she is long dead inu. I loved her very much but you seem to want to make it impossible for me to move beyond her. Do you really want me to live in the past?” he asked me fiercely.

“I want you to admit the truth. I will never be as good as her to you. Why do I try? She was murdered defending your son and I cannot even carry your daughter to term.” I stated in defeat.

“Why do I have to defend a long dead onna? I do not try and compare to Yuudai or Tekeshi.” He stated in a growl.

“I cannot make you understand. You think about her on every level and I feel it!” I said yelling.

“Why should I not think about her Asuna? You are jealous of her!” he accused.

“Hai I am. I suppose we should just move on and you should be happy with your one son.” I said in anger.

I stalked past him and he jerked me to him roughly. He was angry and hurting for our loss the same as I.

“I loved her Asuna, Kamis I loved her but I have such wretchedly violent passion for you. You got under my skin and in my soul! Akane could never compare to you. You are stronger then she ever was. Kamis forgive me but she pales in comparison to you. Now can we move past Akane?” he asked.

“Stand before her shrine and say this.” I countered.

He snarled and grabbed me. He produced his shoki cloud and ported us. We were at the Red Palace and he dragged me to a part that I had never been. He shoved me towards a shrine and I read the Kanji. It stated, `Within lies a mother and beloved mate…Akane”. I looked at Ishin and he looked uncomfortable.

“What makes you so uncomfortable Ishin? Cannot back up your lovely words?” I asked.

“Asuna why are you fighting me right now? What does this matter?” he demanded furiously.

“Admit you think I failed you!” I yelled.

“Fine! You failed me. Is that what you wish to hear?” he hissed.

“Hai. It is the truth and you face it. You do not think I could truly live up to your wishes at all. She gave you what you wanted most and I did not. You admit that she is better.” I said sighing.

“I am tsuchigumo remember? Onna are expected to be warriors amongst widows and funnels. Why would I expect you to back away from an enemy? I have seen pregnant kumo onna. Why should I truly think you failed me on this account? All I said is that it seemed I was destined to sire one babe! If you feel failure it is all on your inu self and not I.” he said in a low tone.

I grabbed him by the back of the head and began devouring his mouth. I delved my tongue into his mouth and he growled softly. My hands moved to his haori and ripped it open. I was not gentle at all and tore at his silk. He tore his lips from mine and breathed harshly into my neck.

“Asuna stop.” He cried.

“No. You will give me what I desire.” I snapped.

“What do you want from me inu?” he asked as I tore at his hakamas.

My hands clutched his backside and I tore into his flesh. He snarled at my treatment and shoved me away from him and the shrine. I fell to my backside and he sank to his knees and pressed me flat against the terra cotta floor. I reached up and undid his hair. The black silk fell all round his shoulders and I fisted my hands in it. His eyes had changed and I was pleased. I shoved him off of me and went off of my memory from outside of the Western Palace. I grasped his staff and he looked at me as if I lost my mind. I kept my primal side at bay and took him into my mouth. I looked up at him through my lashes and his eyes were shut tightly. My tongue and hand worked in unison and he was trying to hold himself back totally. I growled in his mind and his eyes snapped open. His own beast had been stirred with a vengeance and I watched in fascination. I growled loudly around him and he panted as he began thrusting. I was determined he would not hold himself back this time and I bared my mind and soul to him. He whined softly as I released his staff and ran my tongue along his sac. Ishin was lost in the feelings and I grinned. I lightly sucked on one stone then the other. He was going from growling to almost whining. I laved my tongue along his staff again and then plunged him into my throat. I tightened on him as much as I dared without hurting him and he cried out. He thrust into my burning mouth and I knew he was close. I had learned to read his body language. He made moves to pull out and I gripped his thighs roughly.

“Asuna!” he ground out.

I growled out and he cried out as he stiffened in his climax. I took it greedily and his eyes were shut so tightly he looked almost in pain. I released his staff and licked at it gently and I sat up. His eyes were still burning. He had incredible stamina and he was just really getting started. I grabbed his shoulders and allowed my claws to sink into the flesh. He growled and I eyed him. I straddled his hips and sank down on his length. I ground him hard and he hissed in pleasure. I needed him to totally loose control and I leaned forward and began nipping at his pulse. He groaned lightly and I sank my fangs into the vein. I clamped down roughly and he shuddered roughly. I invaded his very sense of self and imprinted my very essence upon him. His breathing was ragged and I had brought forth his energies. He surged forward and I was beneath him. I was relentless and refused to let go of his vein. I flooded him with indescribable euphoria. He began gasping and a firestorm of sensation took us both. His thrusts were hard and quick but I refused to release us. The mental strain was epic in proportions and he was snarling. He managed to massage my nub and release his wickedly delicious venom. I could feel his mindlessness and his need was overwhelming me. His yoki was deafening to me and I took it in as best I could.

“Asuna! Let us go.” He demanded in a guttural tone.

I snarled in response and released his throat. I arched my body against his and he pummeled me roughly. I still did not release us and we both were straining with ache. I was shaking against him and sought his mouth. His kiss was brutal and I succumbed to him. Our energies had long since combined and I was moaning over and over. He dominated the situation suddenly and a renewed surge of energies washed through us and I had no idea where I began. I felt my rapture almost from a distance and was vaguely aware of it all but I just felt Ishin. I heard him yell out suddenly and he fell against me. His lips were on mine and he was slowly and lazily kissing me. He released my lips and looked down at me.

“Are you alright?” he asked me gently.

“Hai.” I murmured into his neck.

“I am sorry I was so rough with you.” He stated softly.

“I brought it out purposely.” I admitted.

“Inu I am not really sure that was such a good idea.” He muttered quietly.

“Shut up. Do not ruin this by being yourself.” I said pushing at him.

“Oh ruin it by being me? You mated me!” He snapped.

“You pursued me.” I snapped back.

“Onna you have a wicked tongue and need to be taught when to shut it.” He growled softly.

“I thought I had put my tongue to good uses.” I said with a grin.

“Oh hush.” He mumbled.

I laughed and his eyes met mine. He was still within me and he grinned. He thrust sharply and I opened my mouth but no sound came out.

“Hai that is good. That shuts you up.” He snickered.

Our bodies remained locked as well as our minds.

Augusta was on a chaise in the gardens and she stared out into nothing. She hated herself right now and her mate astounded her. She felt guilty for not even being torn in her decision. She bowed her head and went back to staring.

“When is the last time you fed?” he asked gently.

“I do not remember.” She replied softly.

“Augusta we have been mated over one hundred fifteen summers and this is the only incidence of this nature. You by your very nature are not an exclusive creature but you have been. I drove you away and neglected our relationship. I have learned some humility in this past century and I can admit my mistakes.” He said taking her hands.

“You do not have to placate me Sesshomaru. I know my actions were heinous.” She said looking away.

“Why is this so difficult for you to deal with Augusta? Is my forgiveness distasteful?” he asked affronted.

“Of course not. I love you and I hate myself in my weakness. You are not a weak creature.” She said sighing.

“I was weak when I failed you. We both failed and we shall strengthen ourselves together.” He said softly.

He leaned in and brushed his lips against hers. She whined quietly and began devouring his offering. She felt her hunger stir and she pulled back. Her eyes were reddened and he gave her a ghost of a smile.

“Feed your hunger.” He said smoothly.

She sat up on her knees and he turned his head to the side. She slowly sank her fangs into his neck and she moaned as she tasted his life force. He moaned as well as pleasure coursed through him. She satisfied her need and slowly sank back down on the chaise. He ripped open her hanfu to expose her belly and he lightly kissed and touched her lower abdomen and she gasped.

“This female is mine.” He murmured against her skin.

“A girl?” she asked him.

“Hai. Seems she scents strongly of you.” He said closing his eyes.

“It is female. You are a sucker for a girl.” She smiled at him.

“Hai. We needed another daughter.” He lovingly caressed her belly.

She closed her own eyes and knew her mate would love this babe. He would love her and never treat her any different.

I was giving Touga one last day and I laid on Naraku's futon in the Northern castle. His head was laid against my chest and his hand was on my hip. He looked at me and narrowed his eyes. He grinned at me and I looked at him in amusement.

“What amuses you so my love?” I asked.

“He will finally stop moping as you give us another young one.” He smiled at me.

“Male or female?” I asked him.

“I cannot tell. He will be able. I am part tsuchigumo in this life but he gets all the subtle things. Why not surprise him?” Naraku said licking along my abdomen.

“Explain to me how this works in the tsuchigumo brain.” I asked him in a small gasp.

“We are as one. There is no distinction in the kumo mind. Ishin and I are your mate. It is not plural as we are the same. It is just how they and now I think. This youngling is as much mine as his.” He said kissing my stomach.

“So when it gets out of line you can discipline?” I asked him amused.

“Hai. I have since disciplined Karu. He does not seem to like it but he will get over it. He is a rather willful and powerful brat.” Naraku chuckled.

“I have noticed.” I laughed as well.

“Come on. Ishin is in Korea at the moment. I want to see his face.” He said pulling me up.

I laughed and threw on a yukata. He pulled me into his miasma cloud and we appeared in the Korean palace. He walked out into the surrounding forest and the tsuchigumo went to their knees before him. He nodded to them and I was amazed at how quickly Ishin and he had consolidated power. We went further into the forest and he pulled me along rather quickly.

“Ishin I sense you! Brother come out.” Naraku called.

We both heard growling in our heads and I smirked. We had disturbed his hunting yet again. He did not appear and I scented him. I put a finger to my lips and I masked us. We found his funnel rather quickly and I walked straight up to it and pulled on the silk. He still did not come out and I laughed.

“Ishin please?” I asked sweetly.

-Can I not eat in peace? - He demanded in my mind.

“Can you not preserve it and come back for it?” I asked out loud.

-What do you two want? I am starving and I have not hunted in days! - He groused in both of our minds.

“Ishin it is a matter of state.” Naraku stated aloud.

-DAMNIT! Handle it. - He growled in Naraku's mind.

I began climbing up his web and he finally appeared. He changed form and jumped down. I stepped down and we waited for him to continue to complain.

“What?” he demanded.

“Brother check our mate.” Naraku commanded.

Ishin felt my head in annoyance and he narrowed his eyes. He moved closer and yanked open my yukata. He put his ear to my belly and he grinned widely. His eyes in fact were moist and he looked up at us both.

“We are having a girl!” he said happily.

I closed my eyes and I was thrilled. Naraku was pleased too. Ishin pulled me into a hug and he pulled Naraku into it as well.

“Thank you for disturbing my dinner.” He laughed.

“We figured it was a good enough reason.” Naraku remarked.

“Come I shall show you how to feel the vibrations brother. Come inu we wish to hear our daughter.” He said pulling me along.

I laughed and Ishin pulled me along. We all went to our chambers and I lay down and Ishin put his ear to my abdomen.

“Now you will sense her faintly but open your mind.” Ishin commanded.

Naraku then put his ear to my belly. He looked up at Ishin and grinned.

“You sense her do you not?” Ishin asked him.

“Hai. She is a powerful telepath already.” Naraku remarked.

“Hai. When she grows we can path to her. She will know us before she is born.” He smiled.

“Are you two done practicing on me?” I asked them.

“For now.” They stated in unison.

I put my hands under my head and this was wonderful. I could make them both happy and I could enjoy it as well. I did wait for another calamity but it could be shut out for now.

Nobu worked on his garden and sweat drenched his brow. Aya and he had dinner and he had healed two warriors afterward. He was pleased with his efforts and was thinning out his new sprouts. He brushed his hair out of face in irritation and he felt a hand on his shoulder.

“Shall I tie it back for you?” he heard the sweet feminine voice ask.

“No but thank you.” He said looking over his shoulder.

The golden inu bitch stood behind him and her own mane of molten gold was down. She wore a tight fitting haori and hakamas of burnished orange. She smiled down at him and he nodded to her. He kept a tight rein on his emotions and he had made the decision not to pursue the relationship. She ran her fingers through his hair and he closed his eyes momentarily.

“You are not allowing me to feel you.” She said as she tied his hair back.

“I can shield.” He said in a monotone.

“You are not comfortable with what happened.” She said kneeling by him.

“I am not a wanton creature my lady. You are an amazing onna but I keep my days and nights pretty busy.” He said wiping perspiration from his brow.

“Who was she that her passing has affected you so?” she asked him gently.

“I have no wish to rehash the past.” He said shaking his head.

“You will not rehash it but you will not move beyond it. Who was she?” she asked again.

“My mate okay?” he said in irritation,

“How did she die?” she asked Nobu.

“Lady Juuna please let is not have this discourse.” He said standing.

Juuna had felt tremendous pain and loss. Her eyes widened and he looked angry.

“Stay out of my emotions!” he demanded.

“Birth?” she asked.

“Ine was mortal alright!” he snapped.

“She could not handle birthing a hanyou.” She said in understanding.

“Hai. She bled out having my son. They both died right there as I tried to save them. Now you inu females need to stay out of my business.” Nobu said.

“I want to love you.” She said bluntly.

“I am not in need of love. I assure you that my life is full and I am quite content.” He said staring at her.

“Content? Where is your passion besides medicine? You wanted to be with me.” She said narrowing her eyes.

“I allowed my baser nature to consume me and I am sorry for that.” He said unemotionally.

“That is rich. Blame it on your hormones. How long has your mate been gone?” she asked him.

“Most of my life. I mated her young.” He admitted.

“You fell in love with a ningen onna and she passed on trying to give you a babe. You disgrace your union by wallowing in it.” She snapped.

“How dare you!” he actually yelled.

“Do you really think that Ine would wish for you to be an emotional hermit?” she asked him bluntly.

“I loved her deeply. You do not understand the tsuchigumo Lady Juuna. We are not whorish creatures. When we take a mate it is usually for life and the next. I only pray that she waits for me in the Netherworld.” He said looking away.

“We inu are whorish creatures then.” She stated rhetorically.

“You said it.” He snapped.

Juuna was actually hurt and looked away from him. His sad countenance made her want him all the more. She looked at him again and resolve grew in her.

“I shall leave you then.” She said bowing.

She moved to him and grazed her lips over his fingers. His reaction was to try and jerk them away but she held on. She undid the stays to her haori and it opened. She gently put his fingertips to her previously scarred breast.

“You gave me back something Nobu. It may not mean much to you but it meant everything to me.” She whispered.

“I told you it was my pleasure to be of assistance.” He said tightly.

“Assist me now. Help me not ache like this.” She said softly.

“I imagine you could have whoever you wished for a lover.” He snapped.

“I want you.” She said fiercely.

“Not available.” He remarked.

She boldly ran his fingers over her soft breast and the tip. Nobu wanted her badly but tried to stay loyal to Ine's memory. He felt the exquisite texture of her peak and pliant flesh. “What are you doing my friend?” Ishin asked eyeing him.

“Ishin are you ill or are you bleeding?” he asked.

“No.” Ishin grinned.

“Goodbye then.” Nobu snapped slamming the shoji shut.

Ishin stood outside a moment and grinned like a fool. His best friend was engaging a female and he wanted to know who had managed to capture his healer. Nobu turned back to Juuna and she had arranged herself rather temptingly. He sank to his knees and crawled forward. She had opened her thighs wide and he began kissing and licking the inner part. Juuna sighed in her pleasure and throbbed in her passion for this creature. She would give him all of her if he wished. She would give up anything to see him truly happy. He moved within her slowly and Juuna was crying out. His mind was nearly gone and her yoki was fast approaching a crescendo. He let himself go totally and he began taking her harder. His claws were pressing into her flesh and he consumed her mouth. His true self was totally in place and her yoki crashed into his. He was in her and apart of her. She gasped loudly and begged him for completion. His mind could not understand and she was murmuring desperately. Nobu felt the tremendous power mingling and he gasped himself when they joined fully. The purity was flooding them and they shared in it. He pressed a claw to her thigh and marked her. His fangs were itching to bite down and he found her pulse point. He clamped down and her walls clutched him in a vise grip. His mind screamed that he made her his and he probably got her with his babe. His true self did not care and continued marking her. He flooded her as he stiffened and collapsed. Juuna was quivering under him in her blissful euphoria. He had marked her and she had found she gloried in it.

“Juuna.” He murmured.

“I know. Shall I bear you a son? Ine was strong for a ningen but her body was not. I saw her in your mind.” Juuna said whispering.

“I do not know what to say.” He murmured.

“She was beautiful. I am stronger in this and I can bear your son or daughter.” She said holding his face.

“Hai.” He murmured.

“Oh Nobu. What are you doing to me?” she moaned.

“Making love to my mate.” He said kissing her mouth.

He again succumbed to the feelings coursing through him. He did not think his garden was going to be tended tonight or tomorrow. She was his perfect fit.

“The golden inu! Kamis she is stunning Nobu. Are you lovers?” he demanded excited for his friend.

“I mated her. I feel unlike myself around her.” He said shaking his head.

“You mated her?” Ishin asked shocked.

“Hai and she is pregnant. I know I am acting a parody of myself.” Nobu stated softly.

“Asuna is having my daughter.” Ishin said sitting.

“No wonder you are a giddy fool. Juuna is having something. I will know soon enough.” Nobu said lightly.

“You are falling for her.” Ishin remarked.

“Hai I suppose I am. She is different then her outward persona.” He shrugged.

“You never were interested in a tsuchigumo female anyway.” Ishin observed.

“No. I am a freak of nature but we know this.” Nobu laughed.

Juuna appeared in the doorway of the great hall and Ishin smirked. The tsuchigumo lord stood and bowed.

“It is an honor to meet the onna who has captured our Nobu.” Ishin stated.

“It is he that captured me my lord. He smiled.” Juuna said softly looking over at him.

Nobu was caught off guard and the look on her face was one of adoration and love. He truly had no clue how or when she had fallen in love with him. She wanted him to know it seemed.

“Come here.” He said mesmerized.

She moved over to him and he pressed his head against her abdomen. He closed his eyes and just felt. He felt his son and he knew she could as well.

“I am smitten.” He murmured softly.

“Hai. Now I have no knowledge of birthing and you shall have to direct me. Yasu is terrible I hear.” She replied lightly.

“Well Nobu. I shall leave you to your lovely mate.” Ishin bowed.

The kumo healer looked up at the beautiful inu before him and it hit him he was falling hard for her too. She lowered her lips to his and began kissing him into near dizziness. Mizuki and Karu came tearing through the great room and knocked over priceless vases.

“Mizuki and Karu!” Ishin snapped after the two younglings.

The two giggled and took off. Ishin rolled his eyes and followed after them. They had become very much siblings and the little onna got his son in as much or more trouble then he did her. Naraku was knocked over by his daughter and she was giggling.

“Zuki if you need to run then do so outside.” Naraku commanded.

“Hai chichi. Catch me if you can Karu!” she said taking off again.

Mizuki ported away and Karu ran smack into one of her invisible webs. Ishin laughed and covered his mouth with his hand.

“Very good son. I suggest going outside as well.” Ishin bit his lip.

“Hai father. I am going to knock her over!” he snapped.

“Our house has become the wilds brother.” Naraku remarked.

“Hai but it is good to hear the laughter.” Ishin said fondly.

“You do realize we may have to fight the Byakko at some point.” Naraku commented softly.

“I figured that was a possibility. We also have some foreign kumo on the islands.” He sighed.

“Well we deal with it.” Naraku said crossing his arms.

“Hai. You realize that this a new era for our people.” Ishin stated sitting.

“Hai it is. We actually rival the mutts for power. I like being Lord Assicle's equal.” Naraku smirked.

“We are mated to his heir.” Ishin said.

“Hai and she has a goodly portion of China. We can dictate what we wish.” Naraku sat as well.

“Our futures brother.” Ishin said with a big smile.
