Chapter I

CRACK The sound could be heard reverberating through out the previously quiet forest.

"You perverted, lecherous…" Sango's words were cut short by her rage

"Sango, I swear my hand slipped" Miroku said trying to act innocent which never worked, but he never caught on.

"I'll show you slipped" and with that Sango planted her boomerang into Miroku's head a second time.

"You know, Miroku if you want to catch a girl maybe you should stop grabbing their butts" Inuyasha said lazily as he watched Miroku nurse his lumpy head.

"Where's Kagome, Inuyasha" Miroku asked watching Shippo out of the corner of his eye, who was trying to sneak up on Inuyasha and steal his neglected chocolate bar ,Kagome had given them each one before she left for a test. Inuyasha's keen senses had all ready alerted him to the little foxes approach. Just as Shippo made a leap for the candy bar Inuyasha grabbed it and stuffed it in his mouth. Shippo landed with a thud empty handed next to the smug looking dog demon.

"How would I know" Inuyasha said through the chocolate in his mouth. He then punched Shippo in the head as payback.

"SIT BOY" Kagome yelled she had just returned seconds before. Inuyasha took a nose dive to the ground. Kagome lugged her back pack into camp walking right over the cursing Inuyasha. It was heavy from all the books and makeup work she had. She had to drop it though as Shippo jumped into her arms and cuddled into her.

"Kagome, Inuyasha's been teasing me again" Shippo whined tearfully as she hugged him close.

"Inuyasha" Kagome said overly sweet. Sensing what was coming Inuyasha moaned and backed up. Shippo jumped down to get a better view `Now you gonna get it dog-turd' he thought.

"Shippo it's not nice to call people dog-turds" Kagome said in a stern motherly tone pointing her finger at him. Everyone stared at her even Inuyasha who had finally gotten up. Kagome softened under their surprised looks.

"What" Kagome said utterly confused

"But…but I didn't call anyone that, Kagome" Shippo said slightly worried `At least not out loud, but she couldn't, could she, nah" he added in his head.

Now it was her turn to be surprised she had definitely heard that last part but Shippo's mouth had stop moving after her name.

"Maybe I misunderstood" Kagome said "Sorry Shippo" But she had heard it or at least she thought she had. `Maybe I'm getting a cold or something' she reassured herself. `I'm fine I'll just take a few vita' her thoughts were interrupted.

`That stupid little brat, he tried to get me in trouble with Kagome, he better not sleep tonight' It was Inuyasha's voice but again there was no mouth movement, he just sat there staring daggers at Shippo. Kagome froze again.

`Ok your fine, your fine, you did not hear that' Kagome thought `I think I need a nap' she went to curl up under a tree when she heard.

`Hmm Kagome looks good in the light of the sunset, especially her butt, ooo I think I can see up her kimono if I just lean a little to the left' Miroku thought but Kagome's back was to him so she thought he had said it.

"MIROKU" Kagome yelled blushing from head to toe. She had also started to try and pull skirt further down.

"What" Miroku said bewildered at Kagome's outburst.

"Don't act all innocent pal I heard you" Kagome yelled again giving him a look to kill.

"What did you do now monk" Inuyasha said stepping in front of Kagome.

"I didn't say anything I swear" Miroku said pleadingly. `But I heard him, oh man, what's going on' Kagome thought.

"You better not have" Inuyasha said flexing his claws menacingly. `He can touch Songo all he wants, but if he ever touches Kagome again, I'll rip him open from navel to nose' Inuyasha thought. Kagome again didn't know he was not speaking.

"Thank you Inuyasha that was sweet, gross, but sweet" Kagome said smiling and blushing even brighter.

"What are you talking about stupid girl all I said was he better not have" Inuyasha said half confused and half angry because he was blushing from her smile.

"You didn't say anything" she said pointing to Inuyasha "And you didn't say anything" she said again but now pointing to Miroku.

"No" they said in unison looking at her with confusion written all over their faces.

`I heard them. I know I did. What's happening, this is so weird and scary' Kagome's mind was racing. She just stared at the ground and hugged her self trying to make sense of it all. `What do I do this is too much'. Seeing Kagome's strange expression, Sango walked over and put her arms around her friend to comfort her.

"Kagome, are you all right" Sango asked soothingly. The boys just continued to look confused even Shippo had joined them. `I think those test she takes are making her lose her mind' Miroku thought. `Am I crazy, is Miroku right?' Kagome shuddered at the thought of being in a straight jacket. `If I tell them about whatever this is they will think I'm cracked' Kagome thought close to tears. `Ok that's it she not going back for anymore of those test thingy's' Inuyasha thought with a look of determination. `Is Inuyasha concerned for me, maybe this isn't so bad after all' Kagome thought beginning to smile. `Cause if she can't concentrate then how can she find the jewel shards' Inuyasha thought still looking determined. `Well forget that idea' Kagome thought becoming calmer by the second.

"I'm fine Miroku, I think I'm just a getting a little cold. I'll go to see Kaede to get some medicine to take care of it. Can I use Kirara, Sango?" Kagome said smiling like nothing strange was happening. She took her books out of her bag to make it lighter. Kirara turned into her full demon form and let Kagome hop on to her back.

"I'll be back before dark, I promise" Kagome said reassuringly.

"Are sure you don't want someone to come with you" Sango asked still worried.

"No I'll be fine" Kagome shouted the last bit as Kirara took to the sky.

`Maybe Keade can tell me what's going on. Oh please let there be a reasonable answer for this' Kagome thought as they neared Keade's village.
