There she sat reading her book in the flickering lights of her Christmas tree but as it has been her mind drifted to her friends she'd never see again. Then of course to him the one she loved like no other, the one who captured her heart and even now still held it. She sat there and thought of the last battle which had been only a week and a few days ago, how even Sesshoumaru had joined them to destroy Naraku. So now even with her friends gone she found some peace knowing he was gone. However her peace was short lived as thoughts of Inu-Yasha flooded her mind, they always did that, waited till she was calm then the tears came.
She remembered how he had been hurt and she had stayed to nurse him well, which of course came to soon for her. Remember how she had said good-bye to everyone but him trying to avoid the tears, but he cornered her at the well asking if she was leaving for good pain seemed to lace his voice. She had turned not saying a word walked up to him till she was but a breath away looked into his eyes which where clouded with confusion and some other emotion, but she didn't take the time to examine it. For as quickly as she had walk up she had taken hold of the pray beads and removed them, returned to the well's lip turning to look at him one last time she said.
" Good bye my love I hope you find happiness."
Then she was gone, once on the other side she stop only long enough to wrap the pray beads around the Shikon and drop them into the well continuing up the well till she reached the top once there she fell to the ground a cried. Only a few days ago had she pulled herself together enough to leave her room but she still hadn't smiled even with it being Christmas eve her favorite holiday tomorrow. She just sat there crying about her lost friends and love never to be seen again. Pulling herself up from her chair she put down her book and looked to the tree and to the top, which held the star, and said a little wish.
" Please kind star, Christmas spirit, Santa a Clause whatever I beg one thing from you give my friends what ever will make them happy. I ask nothing for myself just help them guide them and most of all help Inu-Yasha. This is my plea please grant it for."
With that she turned and went up to bed to bream of him as she always did.

(Feudal Japan)
Well he finally did it, he put Kikyo to rest, only it didn't seem to mean anything any more, nothing did. He couldn't remember the last time he had eaten, hunted, or bathed nothing held purpose or function now that she was gone. All he thought of was she, even when he had been staring straight at Kikyo only Kagome entered his mind. He had already thought himself the biggest fool but now he proved it letting the only one he truly loved slip through his claws.
So now as he sat in the tree that held him for fifty years and that Kagome had freed him from two years ago. Two year it seem so short now all he wanted was more time to spend with Kagome. Time he hated it with a passion now; it had brought her to him only to rip her away again. Time however, was not the only thing he hated, pulling from his robes he looked at the Shikon, and as if knowing he was looking it glowed faintly then died again, how many times had he tried to reach her but this thing wouldn't work now. Putting that away he then looked to the pray beads, he had put back on as soon as he found them at the bottom of the well. On that thought his mind raced back to that day which felt like the only day to him.
His mind still dancing with whys and questions, all of which seem to blame him, with tears threatening he sat there thinking. That day he had been hunting which Kagome had said not to do because he was still hurt, but he had wanted to catch something to show her he could and to make her happy by bring her food. However as he returned to the hut kill in hand he catch the scent of tears bolting for the door and throwing it off it's hooks, he saw all his friends tears in their eyes and on their faces. Looking around he realized one face was missing Kagome's and at that his mind screamed.
' No!!'
" Where is she!!"
He had cried Miroku had tried to calm him, saying something but he hadn't heard it. He had already dropped the food and started running for the well. He got there running faster then he knew he could, landed he saw her about to step to the lip he spoke quickly afraid she'd leave but it didn't come out right.
" Are you leaving?"
Turning she looked at him with loses, confusion, want, and hurt then she came to him, but inches away just as he though she was going to kiss him, he felt a weight, a magic being lifted then saw her retreating form. Realizing then the beads where gone he looked up to her and saw her on the lip of the well about to jump when she spoke.
" Good bye my love I hope you find happiness."
Before he could say a thing she jumped he ran to the well and yelled.
" Wait Kagome I love you."
It was to late she was gone then he felt it the magic of the well looking down he saw the light raising, he heart leaped and particle screamed for joy, she had heard him. Jumping down to greet her, but as he landed he saw nothing till he looked down and saw it the Shikon and beads, falling to his knees he cried out.
" NOOO!!"
So here he sat the pain almost unbearable, then he felt it the well…

(Next day in modern Japan)
The sun had risen hours ago but Kagome hadn't gotten out of bed even with the sun nagging, it's rays licking at her face. Morning was the worst of anytime of day it was when the sun would wake her from her dreams of Inu-Yasha even today she was sad. Her family gone to be with the rest of he extended family, but, she had stayed because she would have upset everyone else. Now as she was about to go down to see what her family had got her, to cheer her up.
" Do you always have to sleep in so long?"
Her eyes snap wide open and span around to see Inu-Yasha sitting on her desk watching her.
" Inu…Inu-Yasha is that you?"
" What am I that easily forgotten?"
He asked hurt and pain lacing his voice, but Kagome didn't pick it up because she was running to him hugging him for dear life.
"Oh Inu-Yasha I thought I lost you forever!"
" What? Bu.. But you left why if you want to see me?"
" I thought you'd be happier I thought you could be with Kikyo and that would make you happy!"
She was now crying into his chest, hug never wavering in strength the whole time. He looked down at her shaking his head and then got down off her desk.
"Stupid girl how could I be happy with out you?"
Grabbing her chin he brought her eyes to mean his, looking into them he swallowed the lump in his throat and said.
" Kagome I love you no one else you're the one who makes me happy."
Tears continued down her cheeks as she found her voice.
" I love you too Inu-Yasha."
Then reaching up she kissed him, which he gladly took and deepen with his tongue backing slowly they fell on to Kagome's bed.

Later that day Inu-Yasha and Kagome now awake but still on her bed and still in each other's arms.
" Hey Kagome by the way why do you have lights around your house and a tree in you living room."
" You're just now remembering that?… Well it's Christmas and mostly everything in Christmas has a meaning. Like the Christmas tree is symbolizes the survival of life and undying hope cause while other trees die it stays green all winter."
She said ending her story with a little giggle and then looking to Inu-Yasha who just looked confused. At this she just laughed harder, which in turn upset Inu-Yasha.
" What's so funny it's not my fault I've never heard of this 'Christmas' of yours."
" Come on."
She said getting up and got out of bed grabbing her robe put it on then grabbing his hands within a few minutes they were down stairs in front of the tree. Inu-Yasha was in awe he had seen it earlier when the smell of it had allured him down but never had he looked at it proper, and now that he had he couldn't described it. Beautiful crystal balls of every color hung from it, lights danced on it, even a small village and some thing that ran on a ladder set at it's base. However nothing prepared him for what he saw at the top a star that depending on how the light hit it shined in every color.
" That…That's it!"
Inu-Yasha yelled take Kagome by surprise, she looks over at him and saw his eyes locked on the star.
" What is it Inu-Yasha, the star it has a story to if you want to hear it? The star lead some people a long time ago to…"
" That's right it lead someone it lead me."
" What??"
" I was sitting in a tree when I felt the wells magic, I thought it was you so I race to it and there in the well was a star, I jumped in for a better look and I got to your time. It lead me to you, it lead me home again."
" Oh Inu-Yasha."
With that they shared another passionate kiss.
